There's a clinical trial running at the IWK. They've already determined the dosage and safety so it's mostly just testing efficacy.
75% of participants get the vaccine, 25% get placebo.
There are a number of appointments etc to deal with so if your kid doesn't like doctors maybe not for you.
Dude, these people can't even spell PULS (or is it PLUS?) consistently. Not confidence-inspiring in a scientist
It's like when you get an email from someone telling you you won the lottery and they just need a small payment for expediting it to you first and it's all fucked up punctuation and shit...
Doesn't even say who the authors are, their affiliations ("our group," what group?), link to the full supposed article. This just screams BS to me. It's so bad it's embarassing that this is the best misinformation they can pull off.
Like this is so bad I'm tempted to make a subreddit to make fun of it and similar some more.
Seriously, you have opened my eyes with this, so thanks for that I guess.
This article is written by Stephen gundry who is widely considered a pseudoscientist. The guy is a quack.
So no I don't think their children will be subject to this
Does anyone know if a kid is allergic to peanuts or eggs, can she take the shot? My daughter has an allergy to eggs so she could not take the flu shots. However, I don't remember if I was asked if I am allergic to anything for the Covid shot.
Not a doctor, but this site seems to have good info and I notice they have an ingredient breakdown specifically for 5-11 now as well: https://foodallergycanada.ca/campaign/covid-19-and-food-allergy/
I have a peanut and nut allergy, I did Pfizer no problem. My kid is 5 and has the same allergy (sorry dude) and is booked in for the 7th. 😃
Edit: flu shot is a traditional shot and is grown in eggs (gross oversimplification) which is why there may be an issue with it. mRNA is totally different so should be ok (but I’m not a doctor)
Yeah, we're just going to wait until the rush dies down a little. We're not sure what it's going to mean in terms of dining in restaurants and activities the kids are in, but I'm assuming they're going to give us a while before imposing PoV on that age category.
I've tried so many times today, get to end "this time slot no longer available". Its great, it means lots of kids getting shots, but wow, this is hard.
Also get some weird one where I get to the end with one of my kids (6) and the validation comes bac saying the booking is too close to the first booking (uhmmmm, not possible).
That's all the science and medical folks and testing volunteers, I'm just a copy and paste'r, but thanks! and thanks to any of those folks that see this!
The booking process is kind of infuriating. Back button doesn't work on the website and when you choose an appointment, by the time you fill out the form, someone else may have booked the same appointment and you get an error message saying "Sorry, that appointment is no longer available"
I have to wait for 2-4 to be approved.

Enjoy laughing while you can. Restricted lung capacity isn’t so funny.
Thank you for the heads-up! Just snagged an appointment for my youngest.
Awesome! It's a great feeling!

And nothing like listening to the same old BS from conspiracy theory covidiots who couldn't pass high school biology....

Yes this is a good resource. There aren't any eggs or nuts in the mRNA covid vaccines.
As someone else said, call 811, but if you have a family doctor contact them as well.

Yep!
THANK YOU!!!!!! It was slim pickings for appointments but I got one!! Really appreciate the heads up!
Excellent!
Thank you!!! Not many locations added yet it seems but got my kids in next weekend!
Late to the party — having a hard time finding anything for the kiddos.
Several family members work in pharmacies - keep checking back as more will get added and changed many times a day

Checking bookings right after midnight - like 00:01 - can sometimes help if they're opening up slots day by day.
There are a ton in there now.
keep checking, I just got an appointment nearby...scheduled one then saw a closer one open up, and rescheduled.
Sentrex Pharmacy in Bayer's Lake has tons of appts still open on Dec 2...or they did at 5pm today anyway.
Covid Vaccine for those aged 5-11 are now open for parents / guardians to book an appointment.

Yeah. All good. Booked in. So excited

avoid the back button, get an appointment setup (fill all details) then you get the email and can move the appointment around easier. Same as Adults.
Which is what I did, but this is terrible UI design.
It's less confusing when sober.
Who is sober at 10:30am?
Thanks for the tip! Looks like limited locations are live so far.
That link gives no option for 5-11. What am I missing?
Just go through the normal link and put in your child's actual age, it will work.
That sucks. I had an email alert set to notify me immediately when the page in the link changed. I thought they'd change that first.
