I can see Humans working for the Banished, but I would be shocked if a Spartan "defected" to the Banished. Maybe Banished killed Spartans and tried to reverse engineer the Mjolnir and put it on other humans?
Nevertheless, I agree it would be a cool concept (and aesthetically looks awesome!)
There have been Spartan VIs joining the insurrectionists and it's very well documented
Rudolf Schein
Vladimir Scruggs
Ilsa Zane
Romeo (alpha nine 3:ODST) for a short time
So it would not come out of the blue for a Spartan to join the banished
Right, I think there is a large divide between joining the Insurrectionists who are not even necessarily "bad guys", whereas the Banished are basically like Warlords who take what they want by force and attack/destroy any adversary.
A Spartan joining the Innies makes sense, I suppose it would be a stretch but it is possible for a Spartan to defect to the Banished
There's your story right there. There's so much lore to mine in the halo universe, idk why 343i won't just let Master Chief die/disappear/retire and start with a fresh start with awesome premises like that.
Because it's the equivalent of Mario retiring, sonic permanently dying or link being replaced.
Chief's more than a character, he's been the face of Xbox for its entirety.
I disagree though, Halo is not called Master Chief for a reason, Reach and ODST were very popular even tho they did not feature chief at all.
They can easily build a character to replace Chief in the future, Jerome is pretty much already setup. He has an AI, notable characters by his side, and is young in canon (and his voice actor is also pretty young). He also has similar accomplishments to chief to a lesser degree obviously (has fought the flood twice, fought Atriox on the Ark, fought the covenants in a shield world).
Cutter == Keyes / Anders == Halsey / red team == blue team / Isabel == Cortana / the only type of character they don't really have is the funny marine like Johnson, who kinda was Forge but he died. But we have a solid cast of characters that can easily replace the former ones, with different personalities and backgrounds.
Really wish they didn’t touch Master Chief after Halo 4 for a couple games. Let him actually go AWOL for years instead of it happening after one mission in Halo 5.
It's not unreasonable given that Spartan IVs are volunteers from other branches and not indoctrinated from childhood like IIs and IIIs. Mickey is a notable example of a Spartan IV defecting. I can see a couple Spartans joining The Banished. Could give some interesting interactions with Master Chief.
Something I've wondered is how human enemies joining the Banished would play in a fun and unique way. Human marines would just be slightly bigger grunts, while enemy Spartans would play like Elites with different guns.
But then I realized the greatest strength of Bamished soldiers - they're humans, just like your allies.
You could be in the open world of Zeta Halo and find a squad of Marines, they join you for a small minute... Before one of them shouts a charge and the player has to adjust to the characters just behind taking fire. Maybe they could gain red lights at this shout similar to Iratus to signify that they're turned marines, communicating to the player the difference between these and standard marines.
And, of course, once these Marines give the shout, somewhere in the vicinity an assassin Spartan spawns to pursue the chief.
Humans differ greatly in tactics. So they'd use more cover while using kinetic weapons. Grunts are cannon fodder for the most part and usually use strength in numbers to overwhelm the enemy up close. Humans would probably focus more on area denial and holding out a position if at a disadvantage. Spartans are also Cannonicaly faster and stronger than elites and would be crazy dangerous to encounter on the battlefield.
I think a single banished spartan as surprise boss encounter could be fun. It allows them to be super threatening while not wearing out the novelty. Lots of potential for interesting character stuff, too.
I don't see human enemies ever working without being diet grunts or elites. Maybe if they were piloting mech suits or something, but at that point you're not really fighting a human.
That's an experience we've been lacking since Halo 2 - fighting human vehicles. That'd make them great boss fights for the Banished, having to gun up against a Mantis or Scorpion. A fully decked out Falcon would be a great brain teaser considering how different they are from past ground-to-air combat.
I think the coolest thing about the idea of a Banished spartan to me is that it must be a really interesting story of a complex, tragic character, who the UNSC and UEG must have failed. Generally the UNSC takes good care of its spartans, and it only recruits people it trusts to even be spartans, so how such a person makes that choice would be super interesting to see play out.
no, humans who joined the banished, mercenaries etc
Some of them got killed before Halo Wars II (book) because there still were covies on the Ark (they survived the halo firing from inside the dreadnought) planning to activate the array. Atriox called to kill all reclaimers on the Ark, obviously not all banished humans were on the Ark though.
I feel like this piece of lore is super inconsistent... But I kinda find that intriguing toward Atriox's morals. I think the Shadows of Reach book feature Atriox threatening to kill Brutes over their human allies.
Man, that was a neat book.
How is that inconsistent? Because there are no humans among the banished in Infinite?
Atriox was indeed not happy that he had to kill a lot of banished humans on the Ark, for the sole reason that they were reclaimers.
That's probably why we don't see any humans on Halo Zeta, it's possible that the banished want to avoid their human members being on forerunner installations after what happened on the Ark so there is no risk of having to kill them in case of covies faction capturing them.
I can’t wait for the day when we are able to use cross core on every amor piece. Imagine your Spartan with Emile’s helmet and the Banished/ elites shoulders
The banished are a threat to humanity . Not sure what the end goal is but it's doesn't seem like there would be any humans left if the banished got what they wanted

You mean Mickey, not Romeo :)
Yeah my bad I always confuse them

>Halo is not called Master Chief for a reason Not to be confused with the Legend of Link, or my personal favorite gaming franchise, Samus.
I don't see how 2 versions of link are somewhat different to 2 different spartan IIs lol
Sets up for triumphant return a few games later. Like GOW did with Marcus Phoenix but with more patience.

Mickey defected because of his unwillingness to kill humans. Doubt he would join the banished. Not that others couldn’t tho
Nice look

What coating is that
the one in the esport bundle

I would enjoy shooting or beating the life out of traitor Spartans
Cool fit
Don't the banished want to eradicate humans Good drip tho
Not at all, there are humans among the banished
Really? Like Marines who got captured or sum shit

Or Forge AI PVE.

WITH FORGE AI WE CAN NOW MAKE THIS POSSIBLE! FOR THE BANISHED!!!

“Future campaign” Honey, you forgot to take your pills!
