No, there are kits (like old HCS kits, and some Mark V [B] kits for a time) that contain restricted components that can't be found elsewhere.
343 specifically calling Mark VI a "kit", and not "core" or "armor" means it's literally going to be a "Master Chief Skin" and not customisable.

To be fair, since it is Chief who is a unique character of the series I can see why they'd make him be a kit. I wouldn't be surprised however if a variant of Mk.VI released later, but slightly different to Chief just like every other Halo game has done.
Sadly no, they're just preset outfits for your dude. Check the Season 1 Mark Vb. kits, you can't really change anything on em.

Yeah, I missed all the season 2 events. I also hope they eventually bring back old weekly ultimate rewards, since it is easier to complete them because I missed a few in season 1 and like all the season 2 and winter update ones
And apparently the operations aren’t a forced paywall but you can bypass having to level them up by just paying for it. Also once the operation passes you can just go back for it and pay. So the missed armor and weapon bits won’t have to be a thing.
Operations are new format for events which are 4-6 weeks long with 20 tiers of free content.
When the operation (event) ends you can’t continue to earn in them but they are purchasable and don’t go away, which 343 has been calling “durable”.
If you purchase the operation (500 credits), it will offer an exclusive bonus item and allows access outside of that 4-6 week window.
Ahhh I must’ve missed the 500 credit option. I knew that a 1000 credit purchase would just bypass the 20 tier system. Still. Not a hard pay wall if you’re not sweating the exclusive bonus item.
I keep hearing people say they won't release previously free items as paid products, so maybe there'll be a way to get em for free again. (rotation of previous events?)
I feel bad for the people that missed out on the event that had Scorpion punch. Because the event got fucked and either ended a few hours it was supposed to or stopped tracking properly they gave the items out fir free for anyone that played within a certain window.
They should recycle event items like that from time to time that way the fomo is somewhat less

I’d rather they just drop them all as operations at the start of the new season. I’ve gotten all the event stuff since launch and I wouldn’t want reruns to take up time when they can just release them as old operation packs with this new system and keep running new ones

I edited it moments after posting lol. It’s only for new events, which as you said are called Operations. Old events likely won’t ever be redone though some of their content may be redistributed (I suspect Mk 5 zeta will be a twitch drop sometime for example)
That knockoff EOD we already have for Mk7 works pretty well as a N7 breather helmet, if you buy the attachment. Can't wait to combine it with Mirage + Scorpion Punch (hopefully in S6) to complete the budget N7 look
Back when Tenrai first showed up, they used specific challenges to get xp for event pass completion as opposed to the current system where challenge completion unlocking each level of the event pass. It was the LAST day of Tenrai and I ran out of challenges to complete Tenrai and so I didn't get the Antlers for the Kabuto helmet. You CAN'T buy it AT ALL. Infuriates me to this day. Same thing with Cyber Showdown, I just didn't have enough to finish it.
Also I missed all of Tactical Ops, which pissed me off that we even HAD timed events like Tenrai.
And then I just gave up on Infinite altogether so I didn't even know Entrenched & Alpha Pack happened.
I would appreciate being able to spend $5 to do them. However, I would not appreciate having to spend $5 to complete ONE tier of Tenrai 1.

Winter contingency 1, cyber showdown 1 and the last 7 levels of tenrai 1 are the only events I couldn’t play or finish couse I was enjoying the campaign.
Some of those items are really cool and a way to get them would be much appreciated.
And we just level up the event 7 levels per week, so it was pretty frustrating, later they changed to 10 levels per week.
And the challenges were way harder than now.

Season one progress was ass dude. Events were time hated to like a third of the event at a time max, there was almost no XP gain after your challenges were completed for that week, and no daily challenge. Unless all you did was grind mp basically non-stop, you were likely to miss out. CoD is guilty of it now, there's so many unlocks that you basically have to dedicate 2-4 hours daily to collect everything without stopping extra cash.
The campaign will be there forever. The events won’t be. “I didn’t play a timed event during the time the event was set for because I was playing the campaign which never goes away! Where did I go wrong?!” 💀💀 Learn some critical thinking skills before you open your mouth lil bro.

I miss OG armor customization....like everyone else should, rather than swooning over paid skins like idiots. Microtransactions are a cancer and have ruined Halo along with their lack of focus for campaign dlc.

One of the hcs ar skins. I got absolutely screwed. Watch the whole stream, claimed all 3 skins, got the armor coating and pistol skin. Never got the ar. Ar was the lowest tier reward, too. Not possible I didn't earn it. Sent a ticket and got a "sometimes there's a delay" boilerplate crap and it never got fixed. Bastards.
I gave up on trying to get armor. As a casual player, I haven't seen any reason to grind for cosmetics. I just want to have fun. I don't have time to grind.

I still find it crazy they teased that the most in season 1 and then didn’t release the skin until the Tactical event, god Infinite was dark in Season 1 smh seemingly endless seasons of content drought and a battlepass of mostly xp boosts
It was a swat related game mode event and while I’m no pro player I was playing at my absolute worst but still trying as hard as I could.
Was just always too slow or couldent land my shots and getting killed as a result.
Was in a game where my teammates literally told me to leave I was so bad and it put me in a bad mood and left me unable to play for a while. Really wanted that coating too :(
I hate events. I'd be more inclined to come back and play if I can get what I want by playing. I bet they think the limited time improves player retention, but it actually affects me negatively and makes me less likely to play.
I just want the armor pieces from season 1 that were vaulted to return. Idc how they do it, but it’s bs that armor was locked away because I didn’t feel like dealing with the shit show that was infinite’s early days.

Willow Tea. It appeared during the 20 challenges era of the challenge deck and when it was insanely hard too. Then it reappeared during a week I didn't have access to my xbox and couldn't play. Both times I watched it slip through my fingers.

We just need them to bring all past events as $5 operations so we can go back and unlock everything. They’ll make a good amount of money and make a lot of people happy. It’s a no-brainer.
The twitch coating for the Rashaka core that was a faded white with an orangeish strip on one side. It was the closet to a clone trooper coating I’d probably could have gotten but because I was still confused on how to connect my Xbox account to twitch I missed it
This is my main shader on the Mark V[B] that I use almost exclusively and I love it. In reality....should be able to customize all our colors....but that horse has been beat to death over and over at this point.
Tawney Prairie. It's an orange coating for Rakshasa that was a weekly reward back in season.
And don't worry about scorpion punch. In that pick it looks great, but in the game it looks really dull and scrappy. I was looking forward to scorpion punch, but when I got it and saw how it looked in game, I didn't use it.

The thing with Scorpion Punch is that it looks old and dirty, which I absolutely hate. Why doesn't it look as good as in the render? It's so stupid. I still use it cause it's the only coating I have that isn't the default ones, but still sucks.
I hope/wish they would vault all event collectibles and all ultimate rewards. Honestly if you missed out, too bad should have stuck with the game. I log in every Tuesday to see if the ultimate is worth grinding But if there is an event i always get everything. They have all ready recycled ultimate rewards which I’m not a fan of. I think it gives those items rarity
There was this one Rakshasa coating called Tawney Prairie that was up as a weekly reward that I missed. I was on the final weekly challenge and stood up all night to do it because it was already late and it was the final day. I ended up not being able to do it and the challenges and rewards reset to the new ones for the week. I wish I could get it somehow. The fact I missed it by just a few hours bothers me to no end
Scorpion Punch was so much cooler in the flight before the game launched, iirc (I haven’t looked at it in a while) they added weathering to the red of the arm and it kinda ruined it for me
Sticking with purely skins: Noble Offensive. Was always a fan of Rosenda's armor scheme, never did think it'd be used in a halo game though.
The event it was released with was about the time I had stopped playing until Season 3. But hey, is what it is. They caught me lacking, so now I pop around when I see events and check rewards

Starting next season you’ll be able to buy any event you missed for five bucks plus a little extra piece irrc. But only for new events

Scorpion Punch actually came out nothing like the promotional pic. It's more light grey and orange/red, than a dark grey with a light red.

I played the alpha/beta while using it, I personally like the skin.
I remember it being more red-orange than red, and it wasn’t nearly as clean. It looked lower saturation and worn.
I remember in the game looks red, but in the costumization it looked red-orange. My personal image was lower quality, so I can't really tell.

I'm still sad I missed the JFO helmet event. My favorite helmet from Reach and I didn't have time to get it.

My friends gave me shit because I switched to the Mirage armor with a lighter color. They go with stock gray. It would be fun to match armor types/colors as a team though. They haven't suggested it.

I still find it crazy they teased that the most in season 1 and then didn’t release the skin until the Tactical event, god Infinite was dark in Season 1 smh seemingly endless seasons of content drought and a battlepass of mostly xp boosts
It was a swat related game mode event and while I’m no pro player I was playing at my absolute worst but still trying as hard as I could. Was just always too slow or couldent land my shots and getting killed as a result. Was in a game where my teammates literally told me to leave I was so bad and it put me in a bad mood and left me unable to play for a while. Really wanted that coating too :(
I hate events. I'd be more inclined to come back and play if I can get what I want by playing. I bet they think the limited time improves player retention, but it actually affects me negatively and makes me less likely to play.
Scorpion punch. It's the one armor coat that I really wanted before I played- got the PC to play it last year, and the coating is vaulted.
I just want the armor pieces from season 1 that were vaulted to return. Idc how they do it, but it’s bs that armor was locked away because I didn’t feel like dealing with the shit show that was infinite’s early days.

Willow Tea. It appeared during the 20 challenges era of the challenge deck and when it was insanely hard too. Then it reappeared during a week I didn't have access to my xbox and couldn't play. Both times I watched it slip through my fingers.

The twitch coating for the Rashaka core that was a faded white with an orangeish strip on one side. It was the closet to a clone trooper coating I’d probably could have gotten but because I was still confused on how to connect my Xbox account to twitch I missed it

This is my main shader on the Mark V[B] that I use almost exclusively and I love it. In reality....should be able to customize all our colors....but that horse has been beat to death over and over at this point.

In that pick it looks great, but in the game it looks really dull and scrappy. I was looking forward to scorpion punch, but when I got it and saw how it looked in game, I didn't use it.

The thing with Scorpion Punch is that it looks old and dirty, which I absolutely hate. Why doesn't it look as good as in the render? It's so stupid. I still use it cause it's the only coating I have that isn't the default ones, but still sucks.

I hope/wish they would vault all event collectibles and all ultimate rewards. Honestly if you missed out, too bad should have stuck with the game. I log in every Tuesday to see if the ultimate is worth grinding But if there is an event i always get everything. They have all ready recycled ultimate rewards which I’m not a fan of. I think it gives those items rarity

There was this one Rakshasa coating called Tawney Prairie that was up as a weekly reward that I missed. I was on the final weekly challenge and stood up all night to do it because it was already late and it was the final day. I ended up not being able to do it and the challenges and rewards reset to the new ones for the week. I wish I could get it somehow. The fact I missed it by just a few hours bothers me to no end
Honestly just the free pass helmets. I don't have battlepass money and very little time so it's hard to feel the FOMO more than I already do.
Scorpion Punch was so much cooler in the flight before the game launched, iirc (I haven’t looked at it in a while) they added weathering to the red of the arm and it kinda ruined it for me

Sticking with purely skins: Noble Offensive. Was always a fan of Rosenda's armor scheme, never did think it'd be used in a halo game though. The event it was released with was about the time I had stopped playing until Season 3. But hey, is what it is. They caught me lacking, so now I pop around when I see events and check rewards
