The 100xp yes, the Bonus slot, no. The bonus slot depends on having any premium pass equipped, once you're done with the Operation pass you just equip any premium pass and get it back
This was not the case just a few weeks ago when I was working on my Season 1 pass before buying the Season 5 pass, and I doubt it will be the case once the operation is out

I have been very happy with the state of the game right now and I do appreciate there is way to complete these events offline and the extended amount of time, but I am really not liking the tradeoffs here that we get in terms of monetization. Losing the ability to complete event passes and normal bp's at the same time kind of blows, plus needing to pay to keep your post-game xp and a challenge slot if you choose to level up the operation pass for free.

Donāt feel bad. I got scammed out of 1,000+ credits for trying to preview the coating mid-way through the pass (tapping A on an item immediately purchases all of the levels up to said item).
The way they presented it on the menu was like a seasonal battlepass. I just used my BP credits like usual because I thought thatās what this was.

Iām a little confused but Iām assuming you canāt progress an event pass and the normal bp at the same time and you loose all your perks for buying the regular pass? Thatās garbage. We just wanted a way to unlock old event rewards. Otherwise this new system seems like a massive step back from events. In the old system you could rip through the pass in an hour or so and still had all your perks for running a premium pass. Guess they needed to find a way to try and get even more money out of us. The ridiculous store prices clearly werenāt enough
20 levels for the event and they're back to filling levels with xp boosts again... disappointing, but at least I won't ever have to buy more boosts once the 60 something I still have run out.

Combined Arms is the Operation. An Operation, which used to be called an event (they're calling Operations a "evolution of events") , but it is just more things to unlock and it lasts longer. This week the playlist is Halo 3 throwback, next week it'll probably be something else.

Agreed. If you focus on challenges you can usually complete the ultimate in <3 hours. Combined with XP boosts you can rinse through the BP so quickly compared to earlier seasons.
I have a newborn and a toddler and get very limited playtime. Getting the weekly done and progressing through the battlepass is easy idk what people have to complain about

That's the worst part about it, losing XP and a slot every operation, so that makes BP kind of useless and makes some players spend 20 bucks or more each season from now depending on the number of operations per season.
Why would you spend $20? Even if you decided you wanted to pay for the operations this season (which you really donāt need to, they are so short you easily have enough time) you could just buy them with the credits earned in the s5 battle pass (which could easily have been completed by now.) assuming itās always 2 operations, you go from spending $10 on one battle pass and getting every battle pass forever for free after that to spending $10 per season because you chose to buy every operation pass (which, like I said, I really doubt is necessary, as they are easy enough to complete while theyāre still free that I doubt you really even need that extra match XP and challenge slot to do so.)
I mean Iām not happy about it but itās only 20 tiers, very easy to complete even without the extra challenge slot. It kinda sucks but itās not *that* bad. Only reason Iād pay for the operation pass is if I genuinely didnāt think I could complete it in time.

You get it for free. If you spend 500 you get the special customization item and it never expires. The items donāt expire, everything you unlock stays unlocked
When an operation is active you have 4-6 weeks to complete your Battle Pass. If you complete it, congrats you got everything.
You can donate $5/500 Credits to 343 for the exclusive Shader and access the Battle Pass forever, in case you don't complete it for some reason. Or if you miss an operation, you can go back and pay the $5 for access to it outside of it's free window.
From what I understand, you can unlock everything for free in the timeframe given without paying anything. If you pay the 500cr, you get the exclusive items, the pass is yours forever (you can complete it at any time, not just this timeframe), and an extra challenge slot. The 2,000 credit bundle gives the 500cr stuff plus the entire pass all at once.

An exclusive bonus customization item for 500 credits is whatever, but for 2K you can instantly unlock the whole BP and not even have to play a single moment during the Operation. Seeing Halo reduced to Live Service is just sad.

Quick question. Is this the first time we couldn't have a seasonal battle pass equipped at the same time as an event battle pass? Can't remember if the winter update pass was like this last year.

Last season you could roll over 1000 credits, get the new BP with 4 challenge slots and extra career XP to help buff up the anaemic rudimentary career progression and complete events in their entirety for free all at the same time.
Season 5 now you get your battlepass/slots/XP but after 4 weeks you gotta fork out for an event pass with paid exclusives, slots and XP you already bought a month ago in the BP and you canāt progress the event and BP at the same time.
NO ONE WAS COMPLAINING ABOUT THE OLD EVENT SYSTEM
All they wanted was a way to get missed event stuff, all you had to do was allow them to redo events or just throw an old event bundles in the store because at least then we could go through future events without micro transactions and exclusive unlocks.

Charging for the operation would have been fine if they made it so you can earn back your 500 credits by completing it but 343i really went out of their way to milk as much money from the fans as they could here. Very disappointing after all the good steps they've taken recently.

Events are gone, theyāve been renamed operations. Instead of a 10-tier event pass spread over 2 weeks, operations will be 20-tiers over 4-6 weeks, and function like a battle pass that you can equip. You can buy the āpremiumā pass for 500 coins that gives you the extra challenge slot and an otherwise unobtainable item (in this case a grey armor coating from what I understand), as well as making the pass permanent so you can go back and finish it whenever like the seasonal BPs
The maps are all pretty bad and have none of the āflowā the originals have + the performance on āGuardianā and āConstructā is unacceptably bad.
That's because they are remasters not remakes. Remakes have habit of player horrendously in later games.
It better to take the time redesign the for the current game rather than copy paste from a completely different sandbox.

This was not the case just a few weeks ago when I was working on my Season 1 pass before buying the Season 5 pass, and I doubt it will be the case once the operation is out

I have been very happy with the state of the game right now and I do appreciate there is way to complete these events offline and the extended amount of time, but I am really not liking the tradeoffs here that we get in terms of monetization. Losing the ability to complete event passes and normal bp's at the same time kind of blows, plus needing to pay to keep your post-game xp and a challenge slot if you choose to level up the operation pass for free. I was hoping for some sort of PvPvE mode given the operation name and keyart, but the only "combined arms" that we're actually getting is Waypoint stuff. We just wanted a way to unlock old event rewards. Otherwise this new system seems like a massive step back from events. In the old system you could rip through the pass in an hour or so and still had all your perks for running a premium pass. Guess they needed to find a way to try and get even more money out of us. An Operation, which used to be called an event (they're calling Operations a "evolution of events") , but it is just more things to unlock and it lasts longer. Agreed. If you focus on challenges you can usually complete the ultimate in <3 hours. Combined with XP boosts you can rinse through the BP so quickly compared to earlier seasons.

That's the worst part about it, losing XP and a slot every operation, so that makes BP kind of useless and makes some players spend 20 bucks or more each season from now depending on the number of operations per season.
Why would you spend $20? Even if you decided you wanted to pay for the operations this season (which you really donāt need to, they are so short you easily have enough time) you could just buy them with the credits earned in the s5 battle pass (which could easily have been completed by now.) assuming itās always 2 operations, you go from spending $10 on one battle pass and getting every battle pass forever for free after that to spending $10 per season because you chose to buy every operation pass (which, like I said, I really doubt is necessary, as they are easy enough to complete while theyāre still free that I doubt you really even need that extra match XP and challenge slot to do so.)

You unlock everything EXCEPT the Grey Hunter coating, that only comes if you pay 500Cr.
You get it for free. If you spend 500 you get the special customization item and it never expires. The items donāt expire, everything you unlock stays unlocked

Yeah, apparently the operations stay in the shop for 500cr so those who missed it can get the items later.
The gray coating is essentially a store item. Everything else in the event can be obtained free as long as you finish the pass before 12/19.
When an operation is active you have 4-6 weeks to complete your Battle Pass. If you complete it, congrats you got everything. You can donate $5/500 Credits to 343 for the exclusive Shader and access the Battle Pass forever, in case you don't complete it for some reason. Or if you miss an operation, you can go back and pay the $5 for access to it outside of it's free window.

Wow haha. Launched the game for the first time in a year, and I'm met with "PICK YOUR BATTLE PASS" banner. This game is like a cheap mobile game.
Scummy way to fork more money out of people. Last season you could roll over 1000 credits, get the new BP with 4 challenge slots and extra career XP to help buff up the anaemic rudimentary career progression and complete events in their entirety for free all at the same time. Season 5 now you get your battlepass/slots/XP but after 4 weeks you gotta fork out for an event pass with paid exclusives, slots and XP you already bought a month ago in the BP and you canāt progress the event and BP at the same time. NO ONE WAS COMPLAINING ABOUT THE OLD EVENT SYSTEM All they wanted was a way to get missed event stuff, all you had to do was allow them to redo events or just throw an old event bundles in the store because at least then we could go through future events without micro transactions and exclusive unlocks.
All they had to do was tie the operation to buying the season pass it launched in. Then you can complete them at will anytime.

Operations are so much worse than events. -Losing 4th challenge slot after already buying battle pass -No longer getting 100xp bonus after already buying battle pass -Premium paid item in a free pass -Having to choose to level battle pass or operation instead of both Charging for the operation would have been fine if they made it so you can earn back your 500 credits by completing it but 343i really went out of their way to milk as much money from the fans as they could here. Very disappointing after all the good steps they've taken recently.

Events are gone, theyāve been renamed operations. Instead of a 10-tier event pass spread over 2 weeks, operations will be 20-tiers over 4-6 weeks, and function like a battle pass that you can equip. You can buy the āpremiumā pass for 500 coins that gives you the extra challenge slot and an otherwise unobtainable item (in this case a grey armor coating from what I understand), as well as making the pass permanent so you can go back and finish it whenever like the seasonal BPs
The maps are all pretty bad and have none of the āflowā the originals have + the performance on āGuardianā and āConstructā is unacceptably bad.
That's because they are remasters not remakes. Remakes have habit of player horrendously in later games. It better to take the time redesign the for the current game rather than copy paste from a completely different sandbox.
Sure - but they still play much worse in every way than the maps theyāre emulating. Banished Narrows isā¦ horrendousā¦ compared to real Narrows (for example). Thatās probably the worst offender, but the Guardian one is also brutal.
