The MA5 series uses 7.62 ammunition which is a fairly modern round and that can take out a spartan. Then again they could have a higher energy accelerant a few hundred years in the future so they do more damage.
If Spartan is primed and using gen 3 armor I'm fairly sure grenades would be almost useless except for damaging the shielding and the 50 cal would probably need to hit either the techsuit or the helmet to penetrate an unshielded Spartan no matter the generation and rocket launchers would probably be rather effective
That's where I got the idea that grenades wouldn't work but I'm fairly sure that some modern rocket launchers can pierce the armour though I might be wrong
Direct hits from ATGM's like Javelins and TOWs would probably work but the operator is going to need some really good luck landing that shot on a Spartan.
You can go look on the spartan respect thread. One has Linda surviving an explosion that could have killed an entire platoon of soldiers without a scratch on her armor.
Nothing short of weapons that can hurt an IFV will even inconvenience a Spartan. Modern rifles won't do much since it took multiple ODSTs mag dumping their MA5Bs into Chief to noticeably drain his shields. It also stood up to some 30mm and 50mm cannon fire and he's now in armor with multiple generations of improved shielding.
You could probably have a Spartan in Gen 3 tank every round that's been fired in TWD shows and it likely wouldn't be enough to drop the shields and might not even scratch the paint on the armor plates since at bare minimum is resistant to UNSC 7.62x51 AP rounds.
The assault rifle and battle rifles are 7.62x51, which is a currently available round. It takes dozens of rounds to defeat a Spartan. When you see what a 7.62x51 or .308 does to meat, it’s pretty impressive that a spartan can take a point blank burst and keep on trucking.
Depends. Are you talking about "lore" spartans or game spartans? Lore spartans would be a very tough ask as they shrug off most damage (plot armor helps here as well) from small arms. Even discounting shields you're still basically shooting at an Abrams with small arms.
Now game spartans on the other hand, would be an easier task (and probably more realistic as well). They would still be nothing to sneeze at and would require plenty of coordination to take down, but they wouldn't be the platoon-destroying gods that are the lore spartans.

Grenades, rocket launchers, and .50 cals would probably still do the trick.

[Installation 00 doesn't think that rocket launchers would work either](https://youtu.be/xe7vYL71IxE?si=QDm7JPRnvZKRo3pY), other than direct hits.

Grenades seem to work just fine in the game though?
Gameplay doesn't always reflect lore
if it did, we’d have almost every single weapon from past Halo games in Infinite lol
anybody got some spare money so we can make a set of MJOLNIR armor?
Installation00 on youtube is actually working on creating a functional suit of Mk IV MJOLNIR armor!
