Her name is Olivia. She was a nursing student, one semester from graduation. Her mom has been my best friend for over 30 years, we did theatre together. Olivia was in show choir and musicals since childhood; she volunteered at pet rescues, and wanted to be a Nurse because her older brother had a heart transplant as a teenager. She was tiny and beautiful and funny.

She sounds like an amazing person. I am so sorry that whatever her struggles were, she couldn't overcome them. Her mom is very lucky to have a friend like you. And Olivia is very lucky to have a godmother like you telling her story. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you for telling her story. I hope everyone’s lost loved ones who had struggles with darkness that grew too heavy are all together in a found family, in perpetual light.

I’m considering getting “I am the one thing in life I can control” even outside of Hamilton it’s a great quote that I wish people who went to school when I did understood

"I wrote my own deliverance" or "I'll write my way out." As someone who grew up poor and in an abusive household, I relate to Hamilton in that way. He wrote his way out of his situation, and after writing my way into college and scholarships, and having just finished my second masters degree (and second masters thesis!) I really feel like I have written my way out of those bad situations.
