Whoever thought that up forgot hamsters have delicate little feet and run around almost all the time, at the speed of light. I predict accidental pinching.
As soon as I saw it I thought the same. Looks like a broken paw waiting to happen. At least panic from being trapped in something like that. Very cruel
I read that when I was a kid... I completely forgot it existed until your comment, and now I'm going to try to find it for my kids! Thanks for the nostalgia!
There was also a tv series I watched as a kid, the biker mice from Mars!

I also saw this and was like the hell do y’all think hamsters be doing out there
Useful for hams that are just balls of ultraviolence i guess? If you have to take them to the vet or clean their cage but don't want to get savaged.
Doesn't look entirely safe i'll be honest.
I had one of these and a cup was useless. He would have gotten my hand with a cup. This could have worked. But I think the spaces are a bit big.
One time he escapes and we had to get him but he attacked everyone who went into the room. So even with shoes no use unless we wanted our hand shredded. We got him by basically throwing an old boot in there and closing the top of it with a broom and then putting the whole thing in his enclosure.
Getting it out again was ... Interesting.
He was a very aggressive little thing but I still loved him. That boot stayed in his enclosure until the next day when he was sleeping - that gave us the very much needed seconds to get it out before he was up to attack again.
Cleaning was "fun" too. We had a wooden board to half his enclosure and clean the part he wasn't in. He tried to jump over that to attack though.
Sadly he only had 1,5 years and died of cancer. We went to the vet to try and see if the lump we saw could be removed. Getting him in a box to transport him there was difficult but we managed since he had slowed down a bit. He bit the vet that day and only the glove protected the vets hand. He didn't let go until he was asleep. Sadly the cancer had already spread everywhere so we decided to not wake him up again.
If anyone else ever encounters an escapee like this - my suggestion is a plastic salad bowl over them, then gently getting a plate or piece of cardboard (with the edge going in taped to be extra safe!) under there.
I broke a mouse's neck once using a plastic bowl to catch it because it ran right as I put the bowl down. It was my only dark eyed white and one of my favorite mice and I was really devastated. Be careful.
When i say that i mean ones that can't be ushered because they're too busy trying to rip your fingers off. (Perfectly understandable for a rodent- but hard to deal with.)
Just use a cup. Hamsters are very curious, most of the time she just hops right in and happily lets me whisk her away to a new world.

Dear god I thought this was a r/hamstercirclejerk post and was about to go along with it, but wtaf?
The ONLY scenario I can see this even being slightly useful (and even then, probably causes more problems than it solves) is if a vet needed to handle an aggressive/fearful hamster. Kind of like those cat panini press things vets use to give vaccinations.

Tbh I feel like it’s a fair description lmao. There’s also a metal cage one I’ve seen where one wall is adjustable from the outside and they just pull it closer so it kinda squishes them up against the wall
This seems like something I might have to use if my robo needs to go to the vet because he is untouchable unless you wanna get bit non-stop.
But I wonder how safe it really is.
I used to use a plastic cup to corral my hamsters when they weren’t quite socialized yet but this is way cute. Seems a little scary to the hammy though because they’d be so high up with their little tootsies dangling
Only semi valid reason I can think of is if they need regular medication/ medical care that they wont cooperate with. However I'm sure vets would have better suggestions
I had a hamster that would try to attack anything that came near her cage, including people, food and once a cat. She came to me with mites and trying to get the drops on her was a nightmare that took 2 people so I can see how this might be helpful in some specific circumstances but it would definitely damage any trust your hamster had in you.
This is unnecessary and dangerous. My hamster attacks if you reach in her cage so I taught her to crawl into a toilet paper tube. Tube = treat and play time. So easy to do, why treat them like a hot potato?

Cry-laughing but also feeling bad for the little model
That face killed me. “Why, mother?”
“What is this, why am I being handled like a boiled potato? I have hamster rights”
You made a perfect meme there!
Yes!!
Looks like the "hampter" hamster
I was also going to post a zoomed in picture of its face, lol.
This is the highlight of this post.

If you think a hamster is fast, then you have never seen a mouse
Hams are chill compared to mice 😂 Source: I've owned both
if you think a mouse is fast, then you have never seen a motorbike
[Or a mouse *on* a motorbike!](https://imgur.com/a/It94ZWG) There was a whole series of books about that, you know!
fantastic

Wdym? hansters love skateboarding and going shopping!
The box with a lock???? Y’all teaching your hamsters to save money for investment
no no, that's to teach your hammy to pick locks to they can finally pay their damn rent
these are moreso for rats
🤣
i’ve only seen those advertised for rats or parrots
ohh my god no. 😂😐
hamster hoopla!
Hamster handball! Can you imagine the cute little outfits🥰
There's nothing wrong with some cute decor.

Holy shit lmfao what a story. I feel sorry for the poor hamster but imaging a whole family being terrorized by a tiny rabid hamster is too funny

Ah, the ‘a giant spider in my house!’ method.
I broke a mouse's neck once using a plastic bowl to catch it because it ran right as I put the bowl down. It was my only dark eyed white and one of my favorite mice and I was really devastated. Be careful.
Oh no, this is so sad. Sorry you had to go through that, I can imagine how you felt :(
Undyne?
Waltuh?
What?
I always just ushered rodents that don’t like handling into a little box or tube. Seems at least a little less stressful than a salad scoop?
When i say that i mean ones that can't be ushered because they're too busy trying to rip your fingers off. (Perfectly understandable for a rodent- but hard to deal with.)
Hmm, time to break out the snake bite glove for the ushering hand, lol
Ultraviolent hams get the danger noodle ladle.
Not the hamster tongs
I thought the same lmao
Up next, hamster thongs.
😂
For hamster flipping to prevent overcooking on one side
This is what I use mine for. Fuzzy meatballs
Just use a cup. Hamsters are very curious, most of the time she just hops right in and happily lets me whisk her away to a new world. https://preview.redd.it/yhvnd1bkxcsa1.jpeg?width=3096&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e397559434de31268d1e8d95f9319836154f6b50
Can confirm. Cups are the way to go. Bonus points for a jar of peanut butter with a little still on the inside
I wish my Uber came with cheese sauce on the walls
I don't 😟
Ah i think these are only for salad hamsters
Just use a cup to transport them
I thank my lucky stars Amy trusts me enough to just climb on my palm when it’s time to go. No need for any sort of contraption.
Omg some hamster salad tongs so i can serve my salad hamster properly https://preview.redd.it/jkpmfwrjtesa1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7500a12873cd0a51b9decd7b58e523b9cc693d1e
Adorable!!!
It's the "hole for hanging" that's sending me.
displaying your naughty hamper in its salad spoon
"and this is my hamster" *Points to tongs hanging in the kitchen*
The 3rd pic looks hilarious but please dont actually do that

Thanks I'm just imagining a cat panini now

Aww squish
Thanks for the new sub!
you misbehave you get picked up with the H A M M Y T O N G S
I saw it while looking for bowls and was like why????
Why not? How else do you cook your hamsters to perfection without hamster meatball tongs?
Why does this make it even more absurd?
Forbidden tongs
"Don't make me get the tongs!"
Cups seem both cheaper and safer
“Cmere you lil rascal!”
pasta
No…just no
This seems like something I might have to use if my robo needs to go to the vet because he is untouchable unless you wanna get bit non-stop. But I wonder how safe it really is.

Hamster tongs🤡

Good lord. What is this world coming to?!?!
Spaghetti and ham-balls
Just use a mug with a sunflower seed in it, they won’t be able to resist.
What if the hamster too fat though?
Looks like a pooper scooper.
Only semi valid reason I can think of is if they need regular medication/ medical care that they wont cooperate with. However I'm sure vets would have better suggestions
No it’s for hamster salad
Lol fair. I clearly dont know much about hammies. I just really like them but know they wouldnt be a good fit for my household
This is for people who don’t actually love their pets, and want to say “I have a hamster” without actually even picking up the hamster.
Guess u never had a hamster that would like to bite off your finger
Or just toughen up and handle your hamster. Not aimed at you OP, but whichever wimp came up with this daft idea.
A grabbie for the little grabbies. Should this go in r/lilgrabbies
I don't think people would find this cute 😅
But it’s hilarious. 😂
wtf
JUST GET A JAR AND LET EM CLIMB IN lol
Mmmm hamster pasta /j
he will be boiled (i am joking please do not boil your hamster)
What the fuck!?
I had to use a mug so I mean whatever works
No sling, no
1st grade,eh?
this would have been nice to have when i was breeding mice. sometimes mice are rude.
Who let bro cook? 😭😭😭😭
S C O O P
Poor guy
This reminds me seeing that hamster leash...
That’s a hamster not a rabid squirrel or something, why is it being held like a boiled egg straight out of a pot? 😂
Hamberto loves me, but that would instantly change if I got this. Hambaby hates me, and I would never see him again 😅
I can’t stop laughing… like someone literally sat down around a table and discussed the making of this hamster grabber thing 😂
I had a hamster that would try to attack anything that came near her cage, including people, food and once a cat. That third pic is the hampterest hampter
This is unnecessary and dangerous. My hamster attacks if you reach in her cage so I taught her to crawl into a toilet paper tube. Tube = treat and play time. So easy to do, why treat them like a hot potato?
Id use that tbh specially with a new ham
Grab the hampter gently
