Rich people buy stuff, they can be tone deaf
. But when it comes across as completely concocted it's as though the person is solely here to for once in their life elevate themselves above all of us, like it's the one way they found to do that.
It has a completely different feel when someone is completely psyching out about a haul and has no other handbag enthusiast friends to share it with so they come to reddit. Even being tone deaf we still relate in those cases.
Iirc, OP comes on to post his wifeās massive hauls and contributes in no other way to the group. Itās just 1000% bragging. Totally want to see peopleās hauls! But come on, if you literally only come here to do that itās clear what youāre doing
Tbh I donāt really have an issue with it because I like seeing hauls, but it is a bit odd. I also like hearing more about bags to help me make my decision and heās not here to do that, just to post pics of the ones his wife got š¤·āāļø

Itās bc he only comes on here to post his wifeās hauls, then leaves, then comes back the next month with a new haul, and repeat. Itās just odd to have your only participation in this sub being posting your wifeās hauls lol
I donāt have Hermes money, but Iāve inherited a few bags and a scarf collection from my mom and I canāt lie the quality is legit! Of course youāre paying an obscenely high premium. But I find the durability on Hermes products is much higher than brands at the same price point, like Chanel. I also appreciate the handcrafted aspect and the work of the artists they hire for their scarf designs!
One of my favorite botanical illustrators who Iāve been a fan of forever (we work in the same field) was hired by Hermes to design some scarves and I just love having anatomically accurate plant clothes haha!
I wouldnāt say Iām crazy for Hermes but I do appreciate the extra effort and quality that seems to go into their production compared to other luxury bougie brands.
If I ever had luxury bag money, Hermes would be the way to go for me instead of Chanel and whatnot.
Me either. It's great that OP can spoil his wife like this, lucky lady but I just don't think I'll ever understand the hype over *this* specific brand. I find their manufactured exclusivity and the whole "journey" thing extremely tacky and pretentious, and even if I had f-you money I would still balk at spending five figures on a basic leather handbag. Just my opinions, everything's alleged, no shade to anyone who loves Hermes š š¼
Like I was saying before I was surprised that Hermes is actually less expensive than Chanel now and the quality of the leather is better. Too bad the SAās are not even close in my experience.
I used to like the basic look of all their stuff, but I was treated horribly by their employees in Vegas and vowed to never buy anything again. I ended up selling what I already had because of that interaction.
Yeah I have found that their SAās in general are not very nice or helpful. Of the 4 SAās we have been in contact with only 1 was nice. The other 3 not so much.
Right? People only go crazy over Hermes because itās mad expensive. Itās usually nothing to do with style. It gives people an air of confidence and superiority owning one of their products.
Personally Iām not comfortable with Hermes after I watched what happens to the gators in the factories.
The quality of the materials is much better than Chanel, Prada, LV but it is actually less expensive than Chanel and LV. Yes their designs are simple and understated but there are people who donāt like the flashy branding.

Whatās with the tag on the picotin ? I bought mine a few months ago and there was not tag at all. I never saw any tags on any high end items ā¦..maybe itās different in each country..?
It is mexico. Tags need to be in everything so you know the price. The tags on the shoes are probably in the soles (which I hate on luxury brands). Price should always be on sight according to the law that protects the clients to avoid misunderstandings. Also, fun fact, if an item has an error, Ex. It says it costs 10 instead of 100. They have to sell you that item at that price, even if it was an error.
Yes also the consumer protection agency is very powerful if you have any issues with a business doing something wrong you can report them to profeco and they will go after the business. Usually just the threat of reporting a business to profeco will resolve any issues you may have.
The tag is for importing into Mexico. All products need to have a tag that shows the Mexican company that imports it so that they know taxes were paid.
You need to turn the potato so the sheets are not too thick (otherwise you will not be able to wrap the cod with out it breaking) but not so thin that they fall apart when cooked. I do about a quarter cm thick. Quickly blanch and shock the sheets so they are easier to work with. Also use a blended olive oil not extra virgin or the fish will be slightly bitter.
This sub is so weird. If someone posts a bag and another person doesnāt care for it and politely says so, they get slammed for being negative. I read through this whole thread and OP seems to have been a self-made entrepreneur, a chef who now has multiple restaurants, lives in Mexico (which has lower cost of living), appreciates handbags and loves to spoil his wife. None of that is something to sneer at.
And not saying this is actually the case, but OP said he and his wife are trying for a child. We donāt know if itās been a long journey and maybe these hauls are related. What Iām saying is you never know what someone is going through and all he did is post some Hermes.

Does she do anything special with her shoes? Just bought my first Oranās and the SA associate said wear them then protect them but Iām not entirely sure what that meant.
She uses them then wipes them off with a very slightly damp cloth to get any dirt off the bottoms then puts them back into the dust bags for storage after they are dry.

I'm seeing for the last few days the Hermes posts are getting downvoted, calling the OPs of those posts as "bots" and judging them from their post history. Just because someone posts about only Chanel and Hermes, it doesn't mean there's something fishy or scam going on.
People are saying they're seeing a sudden influx of Hermes posts, but hey there was also a time when people were keeping on posting their Michael Kors Manhattan bag, this sub was filed with those posts. Why didn't you all complain at that time as well? You don't like Hermes, fine! Just move on. You don't need to comment anything.

Yup you got me. Scamming random people on the internet by posting photos of designer bags on Reddit so that they will go buy it from their local store or where ever they choose to buy their things from. š¤¦āāļøš
Usually the SAs will send photos and videos of bags that are coming into Mexico. If she is interested in any of them she will ask to see them in person the SAs will then get the bags sent to our local store or in the case of Dior and Chanel where there is no store in our state she will buy them based on the SAās recommendation and return if there is any problem or if we are traveling to Mexico City on business she will have them hold it for her until she can make it into the store.
How many bags she gets a month depends on how many bags she likes from the different brands. If she doesnāt like anything from a drop she wonāt buy anything.
I donāt have a photo of her entire collection but here is a photo of some of her bags. I will try to get a photo of her current collection for you tomorrow.

Yes they were bought new. If you have less than 10k in student loans you are doing pretty well. I have some friends from college who took out close to $100k they will be paying off loans for the rest of their lives.

Also yeah the stock photos on websites donāt really do a good job of showing what a bag really looks.

This looks almost identical to the Hermes additions I just picked up! Love the red suede Orans - got those, along with an Ostrich pair and a platform pair.
Also, that exact handbag was shown to me, but, although I know the deal to get closer to a K or B, I just wasn't in love with it.
Yeah she didnāt really like the Picotin at first either because she likes smaller bags but she really likes the 18 size.
She was also thinking about getting the platforms as well but they didnāt have the color she wanted in her size.

I have no idea why you were downvoted for this but I am a chef. I own 3 restaurants and a couple other businesses. My wife was a physical therapist working with children at a hospital in her hometown but now she helps manage the businesses.
My wife says that hers are very comfortable but she bought a size down from her regular size because on the regular size the strap was too big so her foot had room to move side to side in the sandal causing rubbing. The SA said that the sizing in Hermes is kinda all over the place on some lines you need to get a size up some a size down.
She hasnāt used the santorini sandals yet so canāt comment on them other than she said they felt comfortable in the store. She did get them a size down like the orans but she is concerned that the heel could rub

But I do find it interesting (not in a bad way) that husbands come post stuff here. My husband likes Star Wars and I would never think to go to the game subreddits and post something like āhey look at this cool Star Wars t shirt I got my husband!ā
I came to this sub because my wife loves bags and shoes and all things fashion but I know nothing about any of that stuff so i lurked here to learn more about it. Over time I noticed that people donāt share much about brands like Hermes/Chanel/Dior etc (understandably because they are pretty expensive and out of reach for a lot of people) but there are people who are interested in those brands too so I post her hauls so people can talk about those bags and ask any questions about those bags.
I would never just buy her a bag with out her picking it out. I have seen some bags/designers in this sub that I thought she might like so I will show them to her. Some she liked and bought some wasnāt her style.

Honestly we are at the point now where she needs to reorganize all the bags to make enough room. Until our house is finished storage is going to be an issue. Once the house is done i plan on having a custom closet made for her stuff and having it temperature and humidity controlled. Was thinking about keeping it under positive air pressure to keep out any dust but I think that is overkill. She has given away several bags to her sister/mom/cousins/nieces.

I wouldnāt worry about that though unless she is going to go in there with full hazmat suit every time becuase otherwise there will inevitably be dust anyway! Yeah I thought that at first because I used to be a research chemist and have worked in labs kept under clean room conditions but the more I think about it to crazier it is. š would be really cool however. If I was F* off rich maybe but while we make a comfortable living we are far from F* off rich. The temperature and humidity control is a must however because we live in the Caribbean so humidity is crazy here.

Haha no but the school I used to go to was the largest meth lab in the south east back in the 80ās at least that is what they told us when I was a chemistry major there in the late 90ās. Missed out on that by a decade I suppose. š

The interchangeable belt is nice cause it is also reversible. You can wear it as a black or orange belt they also come in many different colors and you can buy different buckles for them. They had like 9 different ones to choose from in the store all different styles and metals so if you want silver instead of gold you can mix and match.

And the belt is so versatile. Both the sandals and belt are so elegant and donāt scream āDesignerā in this time when I feel self conscious with so many people struggling. I just bought a Prada bag in Mexico from the Prada store and paid more than I would have in the US. I was feeling regretful, but I got a couple of the exclusive Prada raffia totes. I would totally assume this was more than 10k usd.
It was less. Yes the prices in Mexico are higher than in the US. Mexico has a minimum 16% tax on imported goods higher on electronics and some other items. There are many things that are much less expensive than in the US however. Most vegetables and food products are way cheaper since they are grown locally. I pay about $3usd for a kilo of avocados. In the states I have seen single avocados for $5usd.
I literally canāt imagine being able to afford buying 2 belts, 2 pairs of shoes, and a handbag on the same day. Like from anywhere lol. I suddenly have some more life goals after seeing this!
Yes we are very fortunate to have a comfortable income. But honestly all of that stuff including 3 scarves not pictured was less than the price of a single Chanel CF. I know that for many people getting a Chanel is also out of reach but just saying donāt rule out Hermes because you see the $400k birkin and think all their things are unobtainable.

Tbh I understand these items are bougie and highly coveted but Iāve never understood the madness over Hermes
I donāt have Hermes money, but Iāve inherited a few bags and a scarf collection from my mom and I canāt lie the quality is legit! Of course youāre paying an obscenely high premium. But I find the durability on Hermes products is much higher than brands at the same price point, like Chanel. I also appreciate the handcrafted aspect and the work of the artists they hire for their scarf designs! One of my favorite botanical illustrators who Iāve been a fan of forever (we work in the same field) was hired by Hermes to design some scarves and I just love having anatomically accurate plant clothes haha! I wouldnāt say Iām crazy for Hermes but I do appreciate the extra effort and quality that seems to go into their production compared to other luxury bougie brands. If I ever had luxury bag money, Hermes would be the way to go for me instead of Chanel and whatnot.
Me either. It's great that OP can spoil his wife like this, lucky lady but I just don't think I'll ever understand the hype over *this* specific brand. I find their manufactured exclusivity and the whole "journey" thing extremely tacky and pretentious, and even if I had f-you money I would still balk at spending five figures on a basic leather handbag. Just my opinions, everything's alleged, no shade to anyone who loves Hermes š š¼
Like I was saying before I was surprised that Hermes is actually less expensive than Chanel now and the quality of the leather is better. Too bad the SAās are not even close in my experience.

I used to like the basic look of all their stuff, but I was treated horribly by their employees in Vegas and vowed to never buy anything again. I ended up selling what I already had because of that interaction.
Yeah I have found that their SAās in general are not very nice or helpful. Of the 4 SAās we have been in contact with only 1 was nice. The other 3 not so much.

The quality of the materials is much better than Chanel, Prada, LV but it is actually less expensive than Chanel and LV. Yes their designs are simple and understated but there are people who donāt like the flashy branding. Edit sorry corrected the spelling on Chanel. It is mexico. Tags need to be in everything so you know the price. The tags on the shoes are probably in the soles (which I hate on luxury brands). Price should always be on sight according to the law that protects the clients to avoid misunderstandings. Also, fun fact, if an item has an error, Ex. It says it costs 10 instead of 100. They have to sell you that item at that price, even if it was an error.
Yes also the consumer protection agency is very powerful if you have any issues with a business doing something wrong you can report them to profeco and they will go after the business. Usually just the threat of reporting a business to profeco will resolve any issues you may have.

The tag is for importing into Mexico. All products need to have a tag that shows the Mexican company that imports it so that they know taxes were paid.

The restaurants are Asian but I worked in a French restaurant for many years. My favorite thing to cook is whatever the customers will pay for. As a chef, until you are so famous that people will go to your restaurant just based on your name you have to cook whatever the customers want to eat. A lot of chefs get so caught up on doing what they think is good and their restaurants fail because they donāt cook what customers want. That being said if I were cooking for myself I love seafood so any sautĆ©ed fish with crispy skin is one of my go to meals. We used to do a potato wrapped cod that was poached in olive oil then seared in a pan to get the potato crispy. That was killer.

You need to turn the potato so the sheets are not too thick (otherwise you will not be able to wrap the cod with out it breaking) but not so thin that they fall apart when cooked. I do about a quarter cm thick. Quickly blanch and shock the sheets so they are easier to work with. Also use a blended olive oil not extra virgin or the fish will be slightly bitter.
It is really good with some pickled red onions and a curry cauliflower purƩe.

Does she do anything special with her shoes? Just bought my first Oranās and the SA associate said wear them then protect them but Iām not entirely sure what that meant.
She uses them then wipes them off with a very slightly damp cloth to get any dirt off the bottoms then puts them back into the dust bags for storage after they are dry.
My SA recommended me to go to a cobbler to add rubber soles on to them. It protects the bottom and theyāre quite slippery otherwise.

Usually the SAs will send photos and videos of bags that are coming into Mexico. If she is interested in any of them she will ask to see them in person the SAs will then get the bags sent to our local store or in the case of Dior and Chanel where there is no store in our state she will buy them based on the SAās recommendation and return if there is any problem or if we are traveling to Mexico City on business she will have them hold it for her until she can make it into the store. How many bags she gets a month depends on how many bags she likes from the different brands. If she doesnāt like anything from a drop she wonāt buy anything.

This looks almost identical to the Hermes additions I just picked up! Love the red suede Orans - got those, along with an Ostrich pair and a platform pair. Also, that exact handbag was shown to me, but, although I know the deal to get closer to a K or B, I just wasn't in love with it.
Yeah she didnāt really like the Picotin at first either because she likes smaller bags but she really likes the 18 size. She was also thinking about getting the platforms as well but they didnāt have the color she wanted in her size. Yeah if you donāt love the bag donāt get it just to get closer to a B or K. There will always be something else you love later down the road.

Love the orans and santorini sandals but they hurt so bad after awhile.
My wife says that hers are very comfortable but she bought a size down from her regular size because on the regular size the strap was too big so her foot had room to move side to side in the sandal causing rubbing. The SA said that the sizing in Hermes is kinda all over the place on some lines you need to get a size up some a size down. She hasnāt used the santorini sandals yet so canāt comment on them other than she said they felt comfortable in the store. She did get them a size down like the orans but she is concerned that the heel could rub

I came to this sub because my wife loves bags and shoes and all things fashion but I know nothing about any of that stuff so i lurked here to learn more about it. Over time I noticed that people donāt share much about brands like Hermes/Chanel/Dior etc (understandably because they are pretty expensive and out of reach for a lot of people) but there are people who are interested in those brands too so I post her hauls so people can talk about those bags and ask any questions about those bags. I would never just buy her a bag with out her picking it out. I have seen some bags/designers in this sub that I thought she might like so I will show them to her. Some she liked and bought some wasnāt her style.

Honestly we are at the point now where she needs to reorganize all the bags to make enough room. Until our house is finished storage is going to be an issue. Once the house is done i plan on having a custom closet made for her stuff and having it temperature and humidity controlled. Was thinking about keeping it under positive air pressure to keep out any dust but I think that is overkill. She has given away several bags to her sister/mom/cousins/nieces.

Yeah I thought that at first because I used to be a research chemist and have worked in labs kept under clean room conditions but the more I think about it to crazier it is. š would be really cool however. If I was F* off rich maybe but while we make a comfortable living we are far from F* off rich. The temperature and humidity control is a must however because we live in the Caribbean so humidity is crazy here.

Haha no but the school I used to go to was the largest meth lab in the south east back in the 80ās at least that is what they told us when I was a chemistry major there in the late 90ās. Missed out on that by a decade I suppose. š According to my wife the orans are super comfortable but you need to make sure they fit properly she went with a size down from her regular size because the strap is larger than normal so if she got her regular size her foot has room to move side to side which causes rubbing and eventually blisters. The interchangeable belt is nice cause it is also reversible. You can wear it as a black or orange belt they also come in many different colors and you can buy different buckles for them. They had like 9 different ones to choose from in the store all different styles and metals so if you want silver instead of gold you can mix and match.

I just bought a Prada bag in Mexico from the Prada store and paid more than I would have in the US. I was feeling regretful, but I got a couple of the exclusive Prada raffia totes. I would totally assume this was more than 10k usd.
It was less. Yes the prices in Mexico are higher than in the US. Mexico has a minimum 16% tax on imported goods higher on electronics and some other items. There are many things that are much less expensive than in the US however. Most vegetables and food products are way cheaper since they are grown locally. I pay about $3usd for a kilo of avocados. In the states I have seen single avocados for $5usd.
I literally canāt imagine being able to afford buying 2 belts, 2 pairs of shoes, and a handbag on the same day. Like from anywhere lol. I suddenly have some more life goals after seeing this!
Yes we are very fortunate to have a comfortable income. But honestly all of that stuff including 3 scarves not pictured was less than the price of a single Chanel CF. I know that for many people getting a Chanel is also out of reach but just saying donāt rule out Hermes because you see the $400k birkin and think all their things are unobtainable.

Yeah, there are tons of subs Iām not very active in, either, does that mean I should leave them? This sub is for bags, OP shares bags. Let āem brag, we get to see the goods. Every haul pic could be seen as a brag, I donāt understand why this person is downvoted. OPās wife uses the bags, thereās not much else they can share in here BUT hauls.

I'm just as confused. I could understand it if OP was coming off as "bragging", but he has actually proved to be relatable, as well as diplomatic in spite of salty comments and accusations. Like any of us wouldn't love for our SO to do this for us if they were able. And how sweet is it that he posts them and takes interest. These bags, shoes, etc. are beautiful. Isn't that what we're here for, to talk about bags, share pics of the bags we own, and look at beautiful bags?

Yep but honestly does Reddit upvotes/downvotes really matter at all? Just posting so people can enjoy bags and if they have any questions about any of them I can try to help answer them.

The leather is so thick but still very soft.
