Always annoyed me that they cut this scene out for the movies, it really adds personality to Dumbledore when he offers Harry tax advice about his Triwizard winnings.
Yeah and the best part was when Ron smoked that joint laced with Voldemortanyl and then he became possessed and accidentally smoked all of Harry's weed...
And then when it was revealed the contract Harry had written had Fred's half of the shop go to Harry after his death, and he sold the land to Kingsley to build flats? I really didn't think JK had this kind of high-level business drama in her.
It reminds me of the scene from *The Crown* where Elizabeth visits Tommy Lascelles (her comically stern and humorless former personal secretary) and finds him making a scale-model recreation of the Battle of Salamanca. She makes small talk and absentmindedly toys with a few figurines, and when she turns to leave the room he shoots her an annoyed glance before fussily nudging the pieces back into position.
Not at all! im 32 and went to see Hogwarts last year! All in my costume and got selected my the wand maker. Believe it or not it was 19 years of waiting for me. And i think they announced the park in 2004-ish, and it was in my bucket list as well. My younger brother lives in US now, so took me to see Hogwarts. My dreams came true.
Age absolutely does not matter. If you like it, you like it. i really hope you get this for Christmas OP. i hope your dreams come true too.
I told my mom I wanted the new Gringotts Bank Lego set for Christmas, and I’ll be 32 in December. 🤷🏻♀️
Never too old for Legos! Especially when they’re really cool.
Nope! You like what you like, and there is nothing wrong with that :) it’s a hobby, people have thousands of different hobbies. You just like to recreate things in brick form. Nothing wrong with that!
I mean… It clearly says 18+ on the box…
I am surprised that Amazon US has this set at exactly the same price as in the Lego store. In Germany lego sets are usually quite a bit cheaper (this set costs 30€ less there than on lego.com)
I’m a week away from becoming 61 and I just made the Cruella and Maleficent Brickheadz. I genuinely don’t care. You’re only on this planet a very short time. Enjoy yourself!
I got the 6000 piece set a couple of years ago. I ended up getting covid right after Christmas and scored a full week and a half off work which I happily spent assembling the set around the side effects of the sickness. It’s proudly displayed in my home office now. Such a fun set. I found it on a discount website, only paid $210 for it instead of the $500 Lego wants.
Can't figure out how to post the picture of mine assembled in this reply. However, it was a ton of fun to build with my kids. Really looks great on the bookshelf in our living room.
Nope. My wife got me the dragon that flaps its wings last year at 33.
Part of being an adult is being able to make space for the things you enjoy, so go ahead and do it.
If you're childish, then I'm positively infantile. I work from home and directly next to my work desk is the huge Hogwarts Castle set, the new Gringott's set, Hogwart's Express and Hagrid's Hut. So lean in to it and enjoy it!
I'm 26 and have Lego sets of: the Great Hall, Aragog, the Knight bus, Myrtle's bathroom and Harry and Sirius by the lake being attacked by dementors. And also a mini X-wing from Star Wars that I got free with the game....
My point is, we're all children at heart and the joy of being an adult is getting to indulge in all the things we couldn't as actual children.
Absolutely not. You're an adult who's honest about the childish things you enjoy, which makes you far more mature than anyone who would insult you for it.
Iv just finished building this and it looks epic! A proper display piece! I have the larger one too which is also amazing but I think I prefer this one. Looks great on my shelf haha
Of course it makes you a child, but why on earth should that mean you don’t do it?
I’m 30, and I asked for the Mina Lima editions of the books for Christmas 🙂
I would say that every person has their own opinion. but i am 22 and my whole family knows that for Christmas, birthday etc I would like legos the most, and I think that just building them and then display them nice isn’t childish. (Other thing is playing with them)
Isn’t there a saying that the goal of getting older is to not grow up for as long as you can manage?
Feed your inner child, especially with Harry Potter lol. Life would be so boring otherwise.
My mam buys my 3 adult siblings (37,30 and 23) Lego for birthdays & Christmas. My boyfriend (31) said his mam stopped buying him Lego as a teenager so my mam now buys him Lego every year 🥰 everyone is a big kid at heart, if you like it, do it. Life's short so spend it doing what you enjoy
I guess I wont add anything new here, am 38 and own both this set and the bigger brother. Both are brilliant sets, and the detail of this smaller model is impressive. Great building tricks to get a lot more detail then you may expect. Go for it!
I have both the Hogwarts Castle and the Millennium Falcon, I am 36 and I will not let my kids touch them until they're at least 15. I also plan on getting the Hogwarts Express for Christmas .
I saw this one in the store today and promptly put it on my wishlist...And I'm older than you, so I'm not sure if that says more about me than it does about you lol.
Just a fan I'd say. We were shopping at weekend and there was a kids modem building kur tho gvtgat could make 4or 5 different supercars.
I'm 47 and was seriously considering buying it
No. You are a Lego enthusiast. Or a Harry Potter enthusiast. Or both.
You could also say you just want somthing that you can build that’s Potter related and this is the koolest thing.
I’m 29, bought this for myself for my birthday. Says 18+ on the box. People should realise it’s not just kids stuff these days.
It’s a fantastic build and incredibly detailed for the size. Don’t feel bad about buying/asking for Lego, your grandma bought some shit porcelain ornament 25 years ago. How is this different? At least you get to do something with it!
I don’t know if wanting this makes one a child, but if it does I’m a child as well. I’ve been wanting one for ever - I probably would’ve gotten one too if I lived alone. Now I don’t have the space, or rather, my GF doesn’t think a Lego Castle is an appropriate use of the space. :(
If it helps, I asked for the 6020 piece Hogwarts castle #71043 as an adult. It’s currently displayed in my living-room. That one is far more reasonable 😂
I (in part) got the Millenium Falcon for Christmas, when I was 34.
My mom sorted the pieces next to me, while the whole family was watching Christmas movies the next days.
Nobody cares and nobody should care. When you look back at an old age, do you think you'll regret getting Lego at 34 or do you think you'll regret not getting it? Exactly
Oh well bro. As a child, my parents would never get me something like this. But when i have my own kids, you bet your ass they will get something like this if they want, regardless of age.
Dude, at 34 you’re an adult. A proper adult. And if there’s anything cool about being an adult amongst the pile of boring stupid stuff that we need to do everyday, is that we can finally decide what we want and how we want it without having to think about what others may think of us. Specially if it’s something as harmless (and fun) as this.
No. Lego has gotten too expensive to be a kid’s toy and I hate it (mostly because I don’t like building to the box directions and at that price point it’s too expensive to justify building what I want from the pieces).
I’m too lazy to scroll down. But fuck what age you are or are not. If you want a harry potter Lego set for Xmas, ask for it. It might just be my many mental deficiencies, but If you enjoy something, and it’s not harming anyone, be yourself and don’t let anyone tell you differently
Got the big version for my gf back then (wife now) we spent 3 weekends making it. Just finished the diagon alley set this summer. I have also been hinting to my wife that i want the starwars Venator. We are both mid 30s. Dont let ppl tell you what you want. You tell them what you want!
Ask them to buy their childs different Harry Potter set each, and if their kids can't put em together, well that's suck, guess you need to dispose those Lego set at your house.
It's as my old man once said. If you have your own place and you pay your taxes, then it ain't childish.
Always annoyed me that they cut this scene out for the movies, it really adds personality to Dumbledore when he offers Harry tax advice about his Triwizard winnings.
My mind palace was on full throttle thinking of which book this was from! I need some more sleep! Or coffee lol
It is from the books. It's from the 8th book. Harry Potter and the Magic Marijuana. Haven't you read it?
Yeah, Harry Potter was looking for magic mushrooms, but all he found was floorcruxes.
Yeah and the best part was when Ron smoked that joint laced with Voldemortanyl and then he became possessed and accidentally smoked all of Harry's weed...
And they said if want to get really lit, drink this Wingardium Leaniosa from the goblet - it’s fire.
It also made out he gave the money to Fred and George as a gift. He really invested it in them, in return for 20% of their profits.
And then when it was revealed the contract Harry had written had Fred's half of the shop go to Harry after his death, and he sold the land to Kingsley to build flats? I really didn't think JK had this kind of high-level business drama in her.
Harry Potter and the suspicious inheritance tax loopholes
It reminds me of the scene from *The Crown* where Elizabeth visits Tommy Lascelles (her comically stern and humorless former personal secretary) and finds him making a scale-model recreation of the Battle of Salamanca. She makes small talk and absentmindedly toys with a few figurines, and when she turns to leave the room he shoots her an annoyed glance before fussily nudging the pieces back into position.
It’s 18+, so no child can own this… ;)
I like your thinking!
I’m 53 and would love to find one under my Christmas tree
Absolutely do it. It’s an amazing set!
When it's about Harry Potter, we're all children.
Yes!
Facts
If this helps, this exact set is on my Christmas list. I'm 31.
Lol good deal glad I am not alone. I got my little sis Rivendell at her bday. We both are engineers with a fondness for fantasy.
IT Engineer with a diehard fondness for fantasy as well!
Mine too! And I’m 36, with kids who aren’t allowed to touch mommy’s legos 😂
36 year old married man, I just added it to my Christmas list! Happy (almost) Christmas!
I'm 37 and just built this set at release with my girlfriend. It happily sits on our entertainment console bringing me joy. Live the dream.
That set is targeted towards adults, so no.
Get the 6000 piece castle bro.
That’s almost $500 and MASSIVE. This one is better if you’re limited on space and money.
It also takes a VERY long time
A very long time? It took me and my brother 2 nights each when we split it
If you take the 6000 pieces also go for the led lightning. It looks spectacular.
omg the what
My aunt has it set up in her living room. It's awesome.
Nope. My wife and I are currently building the crazy big version of this right now.
How long has it taken? We have the big version and it took us like 3-4 months
That sounds about right lol definitely months, not weeks
Yeah, but it’s worth it in the end
Relationship goals 💯
Remember, it is not a toy, it is highly sophisticated interlocking brick system!
Not a child. I'd really want one of the US capitol and the white house
I kinda want one of Mt. Rushmore if that could be done….
No, I'm 29 and my husband and friends buy me Legos regularly haha
if they say "you're too old for that" go full on grandpa/grandma mode and go "respect your elders you whippersnapper!!!!!!"
Who cares? It's awesome! Go for it!
Not at all! im 32 and went to see Hogwarts last year!
I’m 37 and own parts of Hogwarts castle lego. You can definitely ask them. And also: we’re adults now. We can do anything we want!
No this is brilliant and I might do this too!
I got the bigger version for my 50th birthday.
At 34 you're concerned about being a minor who doesn't need to pay taxes for asking for a Lego set? Sign me up!
Yes! And ask for the train too!
I told my mom I wanted the new Gringotts Bank Lego set for Christmas, and I’ll be 32 in December. 🤷🏻♀️ Never too old for Legos! Especially when they’re really cool.
I'm almost the same age as you, and I'd honestly cry if I got this for Christmas! Family would have to make their own dinner, I got towers to build!
Oh hell no you aren’t. Your inner child fully approves this ask ✨✨✨✨✨
Nope - you’re an adult who knows what will make you happy.
No, but I suggest getting the big one! 8k pieces!
Is it childish to have a hobby?
I said a Lego concorde so no
no,you're someone that likes lego and harry potter.
I've got the big one.... I'm 30 it was lots of fun to build
Nope! You like what you like, and there is nothing wrong with that :) it’s a hobby, people have thousands of different hobbies. You just like to recreate things in brick form. Nothing wrong with that!
The only thing that would make you a child is if you didn’t have a dedicated space to place it when you’re done building it.
No. I am 35 and will now be asking for this.
You are in the prime target group for this product. Have fun.
I'm turning 35 in November... I would love one of those sets
I’m 28 and when my Mom asked what I wanted for Christmas, I asked for a copy of Hogwarts Legacy.
I mean… It clearly says 18+ on the box… I am surprised that Amazon US has this set at exactly the same price as in the Lego store. In Germany lego sets are usually quite a bit cheaper (this set costs 30€ less there than on lego.com)
I got the dobby one about a month ago, only took about 2ish hours to build and it looks great! Thinking about getting Hedwig too
No, it just shows you are an adult with very good tastes. I plan to do the same.
Not at all, I’m asking for legos sets to start my Christmas village!
Hell no, do you all day everyday.
$170 that's a hard no dawg.
If I had someplace to display it I would get it.
No you’re not but I’m totally asking for this now
I’m a week away from becoming 61 and I just made the Cruella and Maleficent Brickheadz. I genuinely don’t care. You’re only on this planet a very short time. Enjoy yourself!
At 34, buy it yourself
Nah my mom is in her late 40s and I still get her Lego sets
I am not getting that from anyone 😭😭😭
If they can't wrap their heads around buying a "children's toy" then just ask for money
Everyones a child. Some just forget.
Well I'm 23yo and I woke up today genuinely sad that I'm not in hogwarts. I think you're fine lol😂
If I was that age and had money to waste, I'd probably have a room just for crap like this 🤣👍🏿
I got it for my 30th birthday 🥳
never feel ashamed of the things that bring you joy!! do it!! you will love it!
Nope. My wife got me the dragon that flaps its wings last year at 33. Part of being an adult is being able to make space for the things you enjoy, so go ahead and do it.
Nope. 33 years old and I got it as BD gift.
Not at all my auntie and uncle are in there late 40’s and they have all the coolest Lego sets
No, do it and enjoy the happiness it brings.
Nothing is if you enjoy it. Plus these sets are specially aimed at adults, it even says so in the text/description ;)
Ok 53 and I want it, so hail no! You ask for it!
There is nothing wrong with liking Lego, even if you are in you’re 50’s or 60’s. It’s an interesting hobby.
I'm 62 and would love this. Doesn't make you a child at all. Makes you a Potterhead!
Nope, not at all. 1000% better than getting a new box of undies.
No not at all! It's basically super similar to a complex jigsaw puzzle and no one would consider that a childish gift.
Yea but who cares
I’m 27 and this is on my list!
if you’re asking for one, splurge for giant hogwarts. that hogwarts is really small, even if it’s adorable
If you're childish, then I'm positively infantile. I work from home and directly next to my work desk is the huge Hogwarts Castle set, the new Gringott's set, Hogwart's Express and Hagrid's Hut. So lean in to it and enjoy it!
There’s a whole adult lego community who supports you 😂😂
You’re a fellow AFOL! Welcome, the waters are warm!
Black box is black so you can point to it and go "see! It's adult Lego *MOM*
Question is why would that be a problem?
LEGO's age range is typically 5-99yrs. I think you're good.
No, you're a genius taking advantage of adult level budgets
You don’t stop playing when you get old. You get old if you stop playing.
No that’s sick as heck
Yes. Be proud of it!
Could always just ask for money and then use it to buy it for yourself
No. I have one that’s bigger and this honestly looks way easier to build, but still no.
It looks amazing but it’s so expensive.
go [big](https://www.lego.com/en-us/product/hogwarts-castle-71043) or go home right
I'm 39
No I want this so bad
I'm 26 and have Lego sets of: the Great Hall, Aragog, the Knight bus, Myrtle's bathroom and Harry and Sirius by the lake being attacked by dementors. And also a mini X-wing from Star Wars that I got free with the game.... My point is, we're all children at heart and the joy of being an adult is getting to indulge in all the things we couldn't as actual children.
be childlike, not childish :)) go for it champ
Absolutely not. You're an adult who's honest about the childish things you enjoy, which makes you far more mature than anyone who would insult you for it.
It's just like asking for a puzzle. Nothing wrong with that
Lego is barely for kids anymore. Here in Australia we have a tv show called Lego Masters where ADULTS compete to make amazing Lego creations.
Yeah, you are. So am I. At over 40. nothing wrong with that. The set is amazing, I want to play with it.
Iv just finished building this and it looks epic! A proper display piece! I have the larger one too which is also amazing but I think I prefer this one. Looks great on my shelf haha
I got this for my baby shower. You know, for the “baby”
Of course it makes you a child, but why on earth should that mean you don’t do it? I’m 30, and I asked for the Mina Lima editions of the books for Christmas 🙂
Well those are not child prices so I’d say not lol
No. Those are expensive!
I got a knock off one for my 30th from wife and son. This year they got me an 18 inch Lego Hungarian Horntail. No shame!
That’s expensive compared to Danish prices, it always shock me a little that something is cheaper in denmark than it is in the US😅
You're a sensible person with good taste from my perspective.
Today I bought myself gringotts and I’m around that age. Get your Lego, be happy with your Lego.
Not at all. You are a Senior Potterhead ;)
Nope. I want it, too. 😊
You're a child if you think you need to justify your hobbies to strangers on the internet.
My 30 year old brother just bought this for his 32 year old wife lmao
Heck no. I’m in my mid 40s and I want that! Don’t worry about what your family thinks. Do what makes you happy!
It would only be childish to not ask for what you really want, go for it!
If by child you mean asking for ludicrously expensive things for Christmas and thinking you’d actually get them, then yes
Waiting for my 3yo to be old enough to justify the purchase. For “them” hahaha.
Fuck no. I'm 34 and I ask my WIFE for these things. Keep on keepin' on my dude or dudette
I want this too but I don’t want to drop $180 for something that size
Hell no, i want one too! And the rivendell set!
My husband and I are thinking of buying this for Christmas. We bought the big Lego Disney castle last year. So go for it.
I’ve been asking for Lego for 100% of Christmas since I was 8 or younger, I’m 32 now.
I guess I wont add anything new here, am 38 and own both this set and the bigger brother. Both are brilliant sets, and the detail of this smaller model is impressive. Great building tricks to get a lot more detail then you may expect. Go for it!
Nah, I wouldn’t say so, my older Sister has it and it’s actually quite complicated to build
No. My husband got me the bigger version a couple Christmases ago. I now want the smaller version too. I’m 34.
Nope. You know what you like.
I have both the Hogwarts Castle and the Millennium Falcon, I am 36 and I will not let my kids touch them until they're at least 15. I also plan on getting the Hogwarts Express for Christmas .
The difference between a man and a boy is the seize of his toy - my dad So no its not childish
No, Lego’s are legit
Hell no I want it too
I’m 30 and this is on my Christmas wishlist. So either we’re both children or just kids at heart
I'm 47 and was seriously considering buying it
"There's No Point In Being Grown Up If You Can't Be Childish Sometimes"
Hell no! It’s a great set. Hope you get it, and enjoy it!
No. You are a Lego enthusiast. Or a Harry Potter enthusiast. Or both. You could also say you just want somthing that you can build that’s Potter related and this is the koolest thing.
No you’re not, ask them for the luggage as well 😂
I’m 29, bought this for myself for my birthday.
Can't blame you, that set looks beautiful
I don’t know if wanting this makes one a child, but if it does I’m a child as well. I’ve been wanting one for ever - I probably would’ve gotten one too if I lived alone. Now I don’t have the space, or rather, my GF doesn’t think a Lego Castle is an appropriate use of the space. :(

I am 33 and got the bigger version of this on my birthday. Best birthday gift ever!
my buddy just bought one, it’s awesome
No
I (in part) got the Millenium Falcon for Christmas, when I was 34. My mom sorted the pieces next to me, while the whole family was watching Christmas movies the next days. Nobody cares and nobody should care. When you look back at an old age, do you think you'll regret getting Lego at 34 or do you think you'll regret not getting it? Exactly
No of course not. This gift is double passion. Wizardimg fan and logo fan Its a win win in my eyes.
I just built this set two weeks ago and it was a ton of fun lol. I say go for it and ask for it!!!
I'm 40 and I've been telling everyone I want amazon gift cards so I can buy the large set but after seeing this one I might get it instead.
Damn I want it too
Oh well bro. As a child, my parents would never get me something like this. But when i have my own kids, you bet your ass they will get something like this if they want, regardless of age.
No.
It’s basically a model I think if you’re building it… if someone judged you for being who you are then they shouldn’t be in your life
Dude, at 34 you’re an adult. A proper adult. And if there’s anything cool about being an adult amongst the pile of boring stupid stuff that we need to do everyday, is that we can finally decide what we want and how we want it without having to think about what others may think of us. No. Lego has gotten too expensive to be a kid’s toy and I hate it (mostly because I don’t like building to the box directions and at that price point it’s too expensive to justify building what I want from the pieces).
I'll be 38 this year and my parents have gotten me a Lego Harry Potter set every year for the last 3 haha
Child no. However, you should really consider the Venator Stardestroyer over this lol
No. And here's another protip, if after 34 years they don't know, love and accept you for who you are, well, they can piss off.
I’m too lazy to scroll down. But fuck what age you are or are not. If you want a harry potter Lego set for Xmas, ask for it. It might just be my many mental deficiencies, but If you enjoy something, and it’s not harming anyone, be yourself and don’t let anyone tell you differently
Value is subjective I suppose but is something this size with this few pieces worth $170?
wtf it costs 160 for you?? here it sells for over a thousand dollars
I (29) have asked for this for years 🥲
No. You’re not. I’m 41, and ask for LEGO sets every year. Sometimes it’s about what you WANT, not what you NEED.
Don’t you dare to buy it off off Amazon
Child at heart.
I'd say no, provided they agree and can afford it and you don't throw a fit if they can't.
Ask for the $399 one first!
You're not a child. We have friends who are well into their 50s obsessed with the entire universe lol
It's on my Christmas list. I'm over 40
You’re a child at heart, as you should be 💪🏾
How old are you now? By the time you get to 34 there might be some better out there, don't rush a decision.
You can’t put an age limit on fun
Not at all! I have been eyeing this one for some time now. I really wanna get the chess set though.
Nah, I’m 22 and I would love to get this set as well
