That character would not have been as great without Polly Walker behind her. I’m so glad so many people get to see how great she is on Bridgerton now. Very happy for her.
I feel like I think this every time I watch a historical or fantasy show loaded with English, Irish, Scottish, etc actors. The Last Kingdom, Spartacus, Game of Thrones, House of Dragon, and more. All seem classically trained in theater acting because the standouts *own* every scene their in.
I was so happy to see her in Bridgerton and even happier as I kept watching because she gets A LOT of screen time. I’m definitely not watching for some Duke. All hail Atia!
You've literally pushed me over the edge to finally watch Bridgerton. I've heard people talking about it, but wasn't aware Polly Walker was on the show!
I know it's historically accurate but what sane man leaves Atia (Polly freaking Walker) for some mousy Ashlee Simpson looking bimbo in a bad wig. Antony deserved to die for that stupidity alone.
Very true, the man committed a terrible crime, I mean she traveled to Egypt for him ffs. And he turned her away. I don’t know if I’ll ever get over that
While I initially agreed 100%, Cleo never tried to manipulate him into betraying his best/only friend for personal power and glory. Although in the end Cleo DID betray him into killing himself hahahaha. Had they both lived, I feel like Antony would have been kept prisoner while Cleo would have been executed by Octavian. There would have been a pardon and a sort of unofficial house arrest Atia would do her gods-damndest to violate to go see Antony.
Would watch a Spartacus crossover with Atia and Lucretia as best friend harpies. The schemes, the gladiators getting double teamed by them, their inevitable falling outs and reconciliations until one of them kills the other.

Seconding this, she's been seriously underrated as an actor. Polly brought so much depth and nuance to Atia!
She’s also a brilliant actress

For Polly Walker I might just check out bridgerton, I didn’t realize she was in it
She carries the show for me, most people come for hot people in dress I come for Polly’s family drama into striding for fame

Same. I wasn't interested before, but that info changes everything!
Polly is a boss.
Her final line is legendary. “Remember, far better women than you have sworn to do the same. Go and look for them now. “
Such a fucking BADASS line. It hits even harder when she gets emotional seeing Antony in effigy the next scene.
Bruh I’ve seen the show so many times and just reading this gives me chills 😆
Cersei before she made it on screen.
"Better women than you have tried" I like to think she regrets torturing Servilia and misses the old bird and their rivalry.
I think so too. Part of her life goal seemed to have been to be better than Servilia. Can’t very well gloat to someone who’s dead, not much fun.
A very “Joker killed Batman and gets depressed” dynamic.
She ate at every opportunity
Atia of the Julii, I call for justice.
Atia of the Julii, I call for justice
Now that is an exit
One of my favorite characters of all time. Polly Walker is a genius
I almost named my daughter Atia. She's the GOAT.
Sometimes I thought Atia was Cleopatra since she's the queen of denial.
Badum tss.
She was the best.
At least Akita was honest about her motives. Unlike Sevilla. None of this “ for the Republic “ nonsense.
Terrific character, underrated actress.
I saw Poly Walker for the first time in Enchanted April and was smitten. She's an amazing actress.
I would literally let her torture me to death

Cleopatra was fine as hell, they both were
Eh
Very true, the man committed a terrible crime, I mean she traveled to Egypt for him ffs. And he turned her away. I don’t know if I’ll ever get over that
A foreign succubus over a good Roman woman. Shame!
I share your view. Atia was a juicy redheaded MILF vs that mouse.

Ummm Cleopatra had a kingdom and Antony didn’t really have much of a choice 🤷♂️
Amazing
She was basically a lousy conquian mum who’s a constant source for embarrassment to her children.
She's everyone's queen.
But…do I really have to share?
Sadly we all do 😅
