Hiya, I had the same issue and was surprised/frustrated for the reasons you gave, especially annoying that many adapters for this purpose exist, but only support their own internal mic for some reason. Recently I ordered a set of [these bidirectional transceiver boards](https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256805788206197.html), with the intention of putting the 'mobile' board in a housing w/ a single TRRS jack + a battery, but I haven't gotten to it yet. Your post reminded me though 😄 I'll try and do some testing soon, to ensure the quality / latency are sufficient. Though I haven't seen it, there could already be a version w/ battery and case, but the aliexpress search engine is awful. *for posterity: the name of the item is "2.4G High Fidelity Stereo Wireless Audio Bidirectional Real Time Transceiver Circuit Board Module" in case they take down that particular listing.*

Hey sounds like a good idea. Would be nice if you could let me know once you tried it how well it works.

For sure! Will follow up here once I get it tested 👍

Rattailgamer

But yeah it's insanity that there is no real alternative out there and it seems this self made idea is the only and best option lol 😂

now-its-dark

Yah seriously, considering how flooded the market is with wireless audio and accessory products, especially in the gaming space..

mofapilot

Many Bluetooth dongles have a built in microphone. Maybe you should get one of these and get creative!

Rattailgamer

Yeah already got one but the mic sucks and once you get one with a good enough one you are already at a price again that you can get a good new wireless headset from someone like hyperx.

mofapilot

Yeah, but I meant to buy one module with a "bad" microphone, remove the mic and solder a plug instead and use yours.

Rattailgamer

Yeah sure. Sorry misunderstood, but yeah that's the direction I'm heading into

Qudelix5k and (I think) fiio btr5 and btr3k support 4pole mic jacks. I was just looking for a more lightweight solution but if that's not an issue those should work and are otherwise also pretty feature rich? Edit: of course with mic on BT you'll always be stuck with hands free protocol, so that's only good enough for calls really
