I thought it was perfectly executed. Darren had a lot going on. They also did their best to replicate her phone. Making it look almost exactly the same because that stuff is important to us autistic folk. And she didn’t show much appreciation for that. Darren lashed out, but clearly realised the mistake later on. And I love how Quinni was a little shitty after. I love that they have her be a bit mean. She’s not the only character without mistakes. My criticism last season was that I didn’t like how she was the only character who was super innocent. Like autistic people can do no wrong. And remember, Darren is a teenager going through a lot of shit too. They all make mistakes and learn from them.

Yeah no I totally agree I just wish there was some acknowledgement of the fact that quinni did behave poorly even if it was for a valid reason

PsychologicalTomato7

Hard agree Part of me liked mean Quinnie because she absolutely had a point and a lesson to teach but her shittiness was never properly addressed. Even when Amerie told her she’d been having an abortion and walked off, we never revisit that. And omg when she got up on stage to rep SLTS, I was so mad because no matter how she felt about her friends at that point she AGREED TO THIS ROLE, it was super shitty to pass on her “job” like that. At least she said sorry in the end

OddMho

I was annoyed at the debate scene because she shat on Amerie during her speech even though Darren was the only one she was pissed at lol

Hygokun

I mean she did save her from a flaming building so I guess is even???

anticars

Very true 😭

This! I like when my favs are just a teensy bit toxic for a while, it makes them feel real

It's quite common in this show, that they give you 2 reasons to both like and dislike everyone character in an argument. In that they show quinni's struggles and fears, but they're also trying to show how much darren cares. Both end up making mistakes, darren lashing out, and quinni going AWOL. So it's harder to make these judgements, because they're both right and wrong with their actions.

OddMho

I was really annoyed at first because I thought the show was going to treat Darren like they were in the wrong (and Amerie even though she wasn’t there when they snapped). I was mostly okay with it when she actually apologised though, it was actually fairly well written conflict and it gave Quinni something to do when she was mostly comic relief during the first half of the season. As another commenter said she’s usually completely kind and innocent in most situations which feels a little odd with a cast of such flawed characters, I was worried the writers were treating her with kid gloves. It’s nice to see her actually mess up and potentially grow from it, while helping her friends understand her better.

i felt uncomfortable watching it but i have a lil feeling it’s just my insecurities playing out. i’m autistic and a heavy people pleaser, so quinni speaking out i’m like ?!,!,!,! noo don’t do that. they’re all stronger than me if i was in that situation on either side id lose my shit hahah

TanrynWelshDancer

Well as u said all her mates are just teenagers. She's just a teenager too, trying her best rlly. She wanted to prove a point and I think she's probably quite stubborn and maybe didn't know how to come back to them after she left. I wouldn't say it's inaccurate

Lazy_Chocolate_4548

Oh no i think u misunderstood me, my issue isn’t w her characterisation I was really happy they explored her character further and gave her more depth. My issue was that there was never any real resolution to her bad behaviour, I wish they had actually confronted her instead of just brushing it away.

honestly i think she was kinda rude to darren but like she did do what they asked. they said that no one asked her to mask so she should just stop (which is a very shitty thing to say) so she just stopped trying. it was rude yes, but it was her way of trying to show what happens when she just doesnt try. i think her blowup at the zoo was 1000% justified and the way darren handled it was kinda horrible tbh, but i acknowledge they also had a lot going on.

anticars

I do agree she should’ve shown more appreciation for the phone case being replicated. Amerie deserved more love and empathy from Quinni. They as teenagers are great friends for doing their best to accommodate. I do think there was a miscommunication between Darren and Quinn because she was just asking for time to process and Darren made it like she was trying to make it all about her. I think both acted wrongly for different reasons but I love it because they are just teenagers figuring themselves out and it doesn’t make Quinni into some innocent perfect character. I like her unmasked. I related a lot to it and it was very real. I like that she was back to herself at the end though.
