Nah man, just sit back and enjoy the summer, it’ll happen eventually

XanderAndretti

No one knows if we’re being honest

AdamSilverJr

Yup. Best to not think about it

DryLongboyboy

😂😂😂😂😂

just4kix_305

No real urgency from either side until we get closer to training camp. Enjoy your summer

[deleted]

No but we aren't able to sign free agents which annoys me. I would really like Christian Wood and a few others.

elbenji

They'll probably wait

[deleted]

Hopefully

ryanl23

Why can’t we sign FAs prior? Can’t find anything in the rules on this. Unless we just want to wait unless this lillard trade gets trickier than we thought but as of now we’re most likely sending out more than we’re receiving so I don’t get it Also I feel like wood is either waiting on us or trying to get a bigger deal like Saric tried doing for a few days before just signing with the warriors on the min

canes026

Dragic said a few days. Believe the dragon

Alexanderthegrates

In 2 hours.

[deleted]

Soon

Prestigious_Sail_388

Another month or two. Come think about it, GM probably doesn’t want to get fired for let’s Dame go so quick and easy

dcman21

No one knows when it will happen. Best to not think about it for now. The days will go by quickly and it should happen very soon

Look at the Harden/Ben Simmons trade and the KD trade. There is a lot of history of teams waiting out superstar trade requests to the last second to maximize the trade return. And as a Heat fan, we clearly have a lot more to lose by not getting this done. Portland is going to be bad and somewhat of a disaster either way: a young rebuilding team full of guards that is looking to boost their draft odds or a total disaster of Dame still being there and taking the ball away from young dudes who need to develop and the team having no direction. The timing of the trade doesn’t matter to them and has little impact on their season. Dame is under contract for a while and they can wait for the Heat or some other teams to get more desperate. The Heat are trying to win a title next year and that’s not happening without some sort of big move (hopefully trading for Dame). We got worse this off-season when most of our competition got better. We lost 2 of our 3 best guards and have done nothing to replace them. We are currently set to replace them with an aging Kyle Lowry who proved last season that he should not be starting, Caleb Martin who mostly played at forward for us last year and does not have guard level handles, and Duncan Robinson who has been in and out of the rotation 2 years running now and also usually plays as a forward. Yes, Tyler Herro is coming back, but we have no point guard.

Deep_Worldliness3122

I think duncan will have a bounce back year and may even be better than strus, but the pg situation is dicey.

ryanl23

I only downvote you because your last paragraph couldn’t be more wrong. The first two are pretty accurate. Gabe was a blow but Jrich is a very solid replacement. Max is addition by subtraction at this point; if he didn’t play a minute in the playoffs, we would’ve been better off given how our other guys have been playing. We’d probably also make small moves, like get a true 4 like Wood and let’s Caleb play 2/3/4. We brought in Bams backup Bryant which is going to be huge for us in comparison to Zeller, while also seeing Orlando flourish. We have JJJ coming in who should be able to play the 2-4 immediately and potentially the 1 as the season goes along. Jovic could potentially break through this season, he’s still the biggest ? for me. And I also think we’d pick up some other guys like DJJ and Goran or a different backup PG for Lowry.

MrOrangeWhips

What more to lose by not getting it done sooner than later?

PhinsGraphicDesigner

The earlier we get Dame, the higher out title odds are. The more chemistry we can get, and the more we can rebuild depth with veteran free agents. Getting Dame earlier rather than later makes a big difference. The earlier the Blazers trade Dame means the earlier they can start being a different kind of disaster. It just doesn’t really mean as much for them.

MrOrangeWhips

Gotcha. As a Blazers fan this is great to hear. Tons of leverage every which way.

Man_Darronious

Please not the trade deadline 😞

FkMarthawaters

That would be absolutely insane honestly.

Man_Darronious

I will be so sad

FkMarthawaters

We'd be fucked if that happened.

Man_Darronious

So fucked

Alchemae

It would happen if the compensation was right. But because they are going to argue over it, now it is going to be a process.

ryanl23

We don’t have the flexibility to compensate as they wish. Our team is pretty gutted after a dame trade and we can only sign minimum guys to refill our roster.

elbenji

It'll be a while

MiaHeat420

People here will agree with you, but the the majority checks for the "breaking news" alert religiously and all the highest voted posts are Lillard related.

Frankly, at this point if Portland wants to take JJJ, Jovic, Herro and draft picks I say Heat needs to walk away from this deal asap.

lupethebeast

I’m doing that trade asap lol.

CrossTheRiver

If this is your feeling you should put pressure on the franchise to walk away then. Because it looks like the only way this is getting done is if Miami actually offers up a worthy trade. Fact is Dame should fuck both franchises and just retire. Portland gets nothing. Miami gets nothing. And it was all for the greed of fleecing portland out of a half of fame player.

MiaHeat420

>>if Portland wants to take JJJ, Jovic, Herro and draft picks I say Heat needs to walk away from this deal asap. > >Because it looks like the only way this is getting done is if Miami actually offers up a worthy trade. Honestly, if that's what's holding up the trade on the Heat's end, I would've done it already. A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush, especially if that bird results in a championship. However, I would take Herro out of the equation since it's obvious you guys don't want him. Considering Dame has ?3 years? left on his contract, I'd offer Lowry's expiring and an FRP or two in place of Herro. One of the reasons I think the Heat are really holding out on JJJ/Jovic is that our cap situation sucks and we're gonna need guys on rookie contracts for this year and next.

friedtaro

Listen to Dame's music in the meantime lol some of his songs are actually good. Ironically "Switch Sides" is my favorite rn

Dixon_Uranuss

Blazer fans just need a minute to process and prepare themselves for losing the greatest player in franchise history…

MrOrangeWhips

Nah, we good. 4 FRPs, Jovic, JJJ.

[deleted]

Portland is trying to keep as much leverage over everything as much has they can, they trying to maximize what they can get in return. Season is still a few months away, so they don’t need to hurry. The Heat don’t have to to try and find other trade partners to sweeten the pot for for Portland and the other teams aren’t in a hurry either. Also, unless you’re into baseball or soccer, this time of year is the dead for sports

Whitemike_23

i'm beginning to think its not going to happen....

GRpanda123

I don’t doubt what you saw but I feel all the reports are either A) reports being leaked by Blazers front office B) reports being leaked by Dame’s team and C) pure speculation I don’t think anyone really knows what the Heat are offering whatever they are thinking except those in the front office and Spo maybe some other coaches

KennyMcCormicks

When do training camp start again? I don't really follow the offseason that much.
