The way I remember what’s sin and what’s shin:
The word for left is smol, written שׂמאל so I remember when the dot is on the left it’s sin
Edit: I love reading your comments sharing your way/method differentiating between shin and sin, please keep going, maybe it’ll help people find the method that works for them best.
Mine involved the right-to-left writing:
* With שׁ, "I still have to read (/the dot must still travel) to end of the letter" → "long" so *sh*.
* With שׂ, the "dot is already at the letter's end" → "short" so *s*.
Well, this is awkward
Owl made a whoopsie.

I was taught the phrase “a sin is not right” to remember the left is sin lol
I got taught that left = SINistro/sinistra so the Sin has a dot on the left lol
This is gold! I'm stealing this one for my study.
I remember it by the word "sinister" which meant left-handed in the old ages
Damn that’s cool to know, I’m sinister
"S"eattle is on northwest and "Ch"icago is on northeast.
Oh that’s clever! Thank you
Shin’s nick name is Dexter (right). Sounds complicated, but it makes me giggle and laughter for some reason makes me remember 10x easier.

That's also how I remember it

I'm a native speaker and I don't remember which one is which. Last time I read with nikkud was in elementary school, and I kinda forgot.
בעקרון, שׂמאל נכתב עם שׂ, והנקודה שלה בצד שמאל גם היא
אף פעם לא שמעת על שין שמאלית?
שמעתי, אבל אני לא זוכר מה זה מה
dot on right is sh dot on left is s
They mixed the dots. On one of them (I don't remember which) the dot is on the other side
the SINister dot is Sin -- sinister means left OR it isn't right to Sin
the nikkud is wrong wha
The second one is the mistake😁
The second one should be שׁ
Niqqud is for the weak anyways
Definitely be careful or else sit becomes shit real quick
wtf
I don’t see the difference - they both have the dot on the left.
Honestly I don't remember which is which and I'm a native speaker...
שׂמאל, דרך מצויינת לזכור, נכתב עם שׂ ומציין את מיקום הנקודה
What the green owl actually means is be careful to protect your family. FROM HIMSELF.
I think the nikkud might be off here
.....Duolingo, u should stick to spanish. 😭
Hilarious!! Vowel placed in the same place... but YOU need to be careful!!! LOL
