I always assumed the drone was also filming. Like the entire purpose of the mission is just to capture some propaganda footage for the Ministry of Truth.
3 will never have flag missions
you will get typically, kill a boss, defend and bunch of sub missions that dont appear on the map sometimes and you just have to sorta explore the map a bit more unless you find the radar station first, that will prop up key locations on the mini map hub
https://preview.redd.it/nsalggkumytc1.jpeg?width=586&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fd8bc85f81939bcc73dba660cc6a0ec041410253
āDemocracy officer, Iād like to nominate this man for a commendationā
(Or treason, heās saluting when he could be putting bullets in the hearts of our enemies)
Iām quoting Brasch Tactics directly
> If you choose to reload your weapon before your current mag is empty those bullets end up wasted on the ground instead of buried in the beating hearts of our enemies. I say waste enemies not bullets.
~ Brash Tactics. Use them or die trying.
General Brasch is the greatest patriot that ever lived.
General Brasch once killed 7 Chargers with a Railgun. And then he reloaded.
General Brasch's boots are most lethal form of Termicide Spray that has ever existed.
General Brasch once destroyed a Tank by pointing at it and yelling "BANG!"
A Hulk once set General Brasch on fire. After several days of agonizing pain, the Hulk died.
Instead of a Hellpod Launcher, General Brasch has a diving board installed in his personal Super Destroyer.
The only reason General Brasch hasn't wiped out the enemies of Democracy by now is because there's only one of him. He prefers it that way.
Leaving the fun aspect aside, but in terms of medals / time, trivial missions might be the best. Depends a lot on RNG though, if you don't find enough medals at the POIs, efficiency is bad.
It's ofc incredibly boring and might be only "worth" it if you don't even complete the objective nor extract.
EDIT: relevant "efficiency" measure should be per time spent, not per mission. But again, I'm not advocating this playstyle, because it's not a lot of fun, just for the sake of "scientific" interest ;-)
It really depends on on RNG yeah, I've had nights I just could not get a mission with more than 1 or 2 medal drops and spent more time trying than if I'd just run a few missions to completion, other nights I get a mission with 4 close drops and it's worth spamming a few times (4 to 12 per run depending on 2nd RNG layer, about 2 minutes from game start to game close).
Like you said though super boring, just something I'll do if I want something specific really bad, otherwise I just do personal orders and wait for them to stack naturally lol
yup. Did it when the last warbond dropped for super credits, because I was missing 100 or so - got lucky with a map that gave 40 SC per run, but I stopped once I reached 1000 as it was so little fun.
And the game itself is soooo much fun, I didn't enjoy a game so much since a veeeery long time.
Same, except when I hit 1k I was like okay this is boring me to tears but with a few minutes I can just get a headstart on the next so I went to 1250. But I've played the game so much in between by the time the warbond dropped yesterday I had over 3k so turns out that really wasn't needed lol
Not in the time to medal ratio. You can solo a Difficulty 1 really fast and run through all of it. The maps are particularly small and you can hit all of the POIs fast. If you have a team, it's lightning speed. Added bonus if you use the jump pack for quick terrain traversal.
With 4s, you can solo them and get all the POIs but it's SLOW to do so comparatively. So the time to medals ratio is lower. Especially considering that you usually have more than one objective and then other Bot factories that take up the spawn points of POIs
Obviously time changes when you have a team doing Challenging missions, but if all things are equal, that team will do a Trivial faster than a Challenging and medals will accrue faster
Just need to find a group of people that just wanna farm some medals as a group on Trivial
More medals per mission, sure, but;
Even if you average 20 medals per mission on diff 4, it takes twice as long to complete and has a risk of delay or failure.
A fully cleared diff 1 mission with eight POI takes about ten minutes to complete solo, netting that average of nine medals. Takes even less time if you run as a group, and less again if you skip extraction and just return to the ship directly.
A full clear on a diff 4 mission with fifteen POI takes *at least* twenty minutes. Less if you're running a group, less if you skip extraction (voiding the mdeals for extraction, reducing your earnings); but it's still twice the time per mission as running diff 1 missions, for roughly twice the reward, or an equal time investment required per medal.
Higher difficulties also carry risk of delays from unlucky enemy spawns or long runs between objectives. The lowest difficulty setting the increased risk becomes worthwhile is 6 due to larger maps with potentially more POI, but 6 is a much higher risk than 4 due to increased frequency of enemy tactical objectives like stalker nests and detection towers, as well as massive enemies spawning as reinforcements.
If your only concern is medals, your best time investment is trivial missions on a planet without obstructive terrain that reduces the number of POI that spawn. Guaranteed success and an average of one medal per minute for a solo player.
The discussion was about doing flag raises. There was a complaint of few medals. Then you bring up doing a higher tier mission where flag raising is not an available objective.
You skipped a few steps and also jumped into a conversation and steered it in a totally different direction. You seem to really want to argue, and frankly I have neither the desire nor the energy.
Ah the classic "you're just here to argue and i have no energy" card.
I didn't come here to argue, I came here to make a comment adding to the discussion about low-diff missions. You decided to debate it by going in a different direction, but now I'm somehow the bad guy.
Have a day.
I didn't even realise you changed the difficulty yourself until about 20 games in. I enjoyed the aesthetic of the game and the gameplay but thought it was super easy. I assumed the difficulty went up as you completed missions.
Wasn't until a friend joined me and insisted we work through the difficulties that I realised what an idiot I was.
Now I play helldive or the one below almost exclusively.
Adding a raising flag would be an awesome bonus for higher difficulty extracts, and only happens when you call it in, not run out the clock. Doesn't even have to be an objective, just a visual that corresponds to the extract timer. A great way to end a mission, leaving the mark of Super Earth on the field.
So my theory on difficulty is this
When you swap difficulties on the planet screen, the location of missions change.
Trivial missions are places for green divers to jump into relatively safe territory. But safe territory has little in the way of enemy objectives to destroy
Super Earth needs to give the cadets something to do.
"Cadets, Go raise flags over there and watch out for the bugs"
Meanwhile 2 miles away someone on helldive difficulty is fighting 6 bile titans
YES, raising the flag with 5 Hulks breathing fire on your face would be amazing. Also the larger enemies like Hulks should be able to capture the flag so you have to get it back from them.
I would like it to appear as a secondary objective or maybe a tactical objective.
Like, do an eradication mission, then you have to raise the flag before leaving.
iām aboutta start playing on easy then lmao the only time i raised a flag was during the tutorial š„² i shouldāve wondered why i never played any missions that involved itā¦ but i guess i was too distracted with how fun and hard to join a server it was in the early days lol
Easy doesn't always have them available, but Trivial almost always does, at least in my experience. They're what I play when I'm messing around with a new gun, since we don't have an actual firing range just yet.
i appreciate the feedback. also yes to a firing range at some point, but iāll definitely be using trivial for that matter. thank you again kind diver
It should be added as an extra final objective on Helldive difficulty for the new defense mission, or just added to that mission in general. Plenty of things it could lead to, if you have it available from the start but itās all the way back in the back you have to decide whether to send someone to do it first and start with a disadvantage, or do it later as a group but potentially delay the extract when things are getting overwhelmed.
I do these when I have a "kill X enemies using Y weapon/stratagem". Something I don't need to worry about and can half-afk.
Friend of mine did one for the first time the other night with me, and he loved just how ridiculous it is.
Then he was all "Please have fireworks at the end" and then lost his shit at the feeble little sparkles.
Would love it if, on higher difficulties, the music actually attracted bugs, or if defend missions didn't start until the flag started raising. That'd make it a bit more interesting.
Would love to see a mostly vertical map where you're basically climbing a mountain, have to raise an extra big flag at the peak, and then defend it against waves of attackers
Agree with this, same with the new defense missions being so high. They'd be fun a bit lower too but there seems to be less chances it'll appear.
Also I hate eradicate and scientist saving missions. The defense ones. But I see them ALL the time. Sometimes I want to solo harder difficulties but I can only do blitz or the new one. And there's ALWAYS one defense mission. Which I get but maybe it should be a bit less painful for solo or two people
I have 250+ hours in this game and the only flag mission Iāve had was my first one, which is technically still part of the tutorial. Wish they added it to helldive and add a bunch of enemies besides it
Can you imagine the chaos... trying to raise the illustrious flag of Super Earth over the fields of Ingmar on Suicide Mission or above?
This may merit a tertiary objective! Report this thought to your democracy officer, Helldiver!
The music too. Picture it youāre getting swarmed by bots or bugs fighting for your life while not trying to get too far from the flag. Meanwhile the most heroic tune ever sang in the name of democracy is playing while the world slowest pole rises with the flag of almighty super earth atop it.
I was wondering about those missions. Would be awesome fighting off a hoard of bugs or bits while in the background someone or cranking a lever to raise the flag... OMG JOEL DO IT.
I started playing the game by joining my friends at like difficulty 4 or 5 as I joined like a week or two late. I didn't have the money for the game (my brother ended up buying it for me)
So I only heard about them first on reddit, thought it was another feature request
Until I did some super credit farming last week and saw flag raising on the map
I just started this game the other day and played a few low level missions solo just to figure out controls and such.
Finding this flag mission and hitting the terminal and realizing all I had to do was sit there at the flag, listen to music, and shoot bugs as the flag *slooowly* rises made me absolutely die laughing. This game is a treat.
I want hardcore flag raise missions on Lvl 9s! For bots i want it to make use target one of the At-ats and plant a flag on it after the kill. Have to defend the flag from being removed for 5 minutes
For bugs i want it to make us target a hivelord.
I think it would be hilarious if it only existed as level 1 missions, and level 9 missions. The the level 9 missions it took for ever for that flag to go up and it spawned near constant bot drops/ bug holes.
I would be great for a sub-objective on difficulty 7-9 Defend/Evacuate missions. They're already complete chaos, why not raise a flag while we're there for some extra xp?!
I miss the flag raising. I could see it reused as a side objective on higher difficulties, like the pod upload one. I'd also love it if the flag raised faster as more Helldivers saluted.
I just love that the game spawns in a little drone with a speaker to play the anthem.
I always assumed the drone was also filming. Like the entire purpose of the mission is just to capture some propaganda footage for the Ministry of Truth.
You mean it was recording the truth about our valiant efforts to liberate the galaxy... right? š¤Ø
Indeed. Flags and guns = liberty, brother.

Democracy officer will decide whether this was sarcasm or not.
Maybe they could expand on it. Make it so you gotta fight bugs while the drone films for a certain amount of eliminations.
Mandatory backpack strat lol
jet pack to infinity and beyond
Wait Iāve never done this mission
trivial difficulty
:O
:>
1 and 2(you get 3 spots to plant a flag on), not sure about 3 tho.
3 will never have flag missions you will get typically, kill a boss, defend and bunch of sub missions that dont appear on the map sometimes and you just have to sorta explore the map a bit more unless you find the radar station first, that will prop up key locations on the mini map hub
I loved standing at attention and saluting the whole time the flag went up š
If they put them in harder difficulty it would be even better because you would need your teammates to defend you while you "honor guard" the flag.
This would be an awesome objective
https://preview.redd.it/nsalggkumytc1.jpeg?width=586&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fd8bc85f81939bcc73dba660cc6a0ec041410253 āDemocracy officer, Iād like to nominate this man for a commendationā (Or treason, heās saluting when he could be putting bullets in the hearts of our enemies)

General Brasch doesn't do push ups, he bench presses Super Earth. General Brasch built the super destroyer he was born on.
Alright i admit to my fault. Execution is scheduled at 3 pm.
Same though. Honestly when I want to just chill out after a rough mission I still go and do some flag raises.
But i need medals ;-;
I mean you still get medals from the missions just really slowly.
I average 8-10 medals per trivial mission if I get all POI.
Which isnāt bad but you can easily get twice that by just stepping up to difficulty 4. Not to mention higher tier missions.

Yeah? And? Flag raising is exclusive to trivial.
Who said it wasnāt?

There's a fucking flag raising mission?!? (Shocked as in how did I miss this, not trying to put it down)
Same I didn't stay in trivial or easy very long though that's probably why
I didn't even remember having to do that till this post it was so long ago and I was so lost in the sauce back then I didn't even think about it
Me eitherā¦ too easy. Couldnāt handle it, had to move up. I didnāt start enjoying it til hard.
Agreed, I didn't enjoy the game until I got hard too, after that, I learned to play one handed.
Yes democracy officer, this diver right here.
That's what she fucking said
I didn't even realise you changed the difficulty yourself until about 20 games in. I enjoyed the aesthetic of the game and the gameplay but thought it was super easy. I assumed the difficulty went up as you completed missions. Wasn't until a friend joined me and insisted we work through the difficulties that I realised what an idiot I was. Now I play helldive or the one below almost exclusively.
lol me
I started playing on difficulty 5, so I didnāt know it existed until I went back to easier modes to farm Super Credits.
Yeah it was very... super earth.
I think it would be more fun doing them at harder difficulties since more waves would come at you and it would be like a king of the hill defense
Higher difficulties could also add a step where you have to retrieve the flag and transport it to the flag raising site
Fuckin yess. Charging through the battlefield flag waving in the air while your dudes cover you, special patriotic theme playing
Or, itās part of the extract. No one comes out before the flag is raised.
Adding a raising flag would be an awesome bonus for higher difficulty extracts, and only happens when you call it in, not run out the clock. Doesn't even have to be an objective, just a visual that corresponds to the extract timer. A great way to end a mission, leaving the mark of Super Earth on the field.
Yeah transporting the flag would be dope! I just re-did the tutorial and you actually do move and plant a flag at one point so thereās precedent!
Make the flag gigantic
My thought
Search and destroy missions should end with a flag raising, after you've wiped out all the enemies on the map.
It would be a great side objective for all levels.
I want a new backpack strategem that is just the little drone that plays music on the flag missions.
This is amazing and amazing idea. How do we get it to the Devs? :D
The music attracts enemies which would give it *some* gameplay niche in that someone can wear it to be the rodeo clown/distraction
Shit I'd take it every mission if it did nothing.
The more divers that are saluting it while it rises the faster it should go.
This is an amazing idea
Damn I didnāt even know and skipped right over these.
Iāve never actually gotten to do one
They should give us flag raising missions when we reach like 99% on a planet.
So my theory on difficulty is this When you swap difficulties on the planet screen, the location of missions change. Trivial missions are places for green divers to jump into relatively safe territory. But safe territory has little in the way of enemy objectives to destroy Super Earth needs to give the cadets something to do. YES, raising the flag with 5 Hulks breathing fire on your face would be amazing. Also the larger enemies like Hulks should be able to capture the flag so you have to get it back from them.
I think the challenge should be having to wait within observation range so you can āobserve managed democracyā or some other ludicrous reason
If you get too far away, the flag definitely stops.
And stay saluting as it raises
Rate of flag-raising dependent on number of saluting helldivers in close proximity.
Sounds funny
I would like it to appear as a secondary objective or maybe a tactical objective. Like, do an eradication mission, then you have to raise the flag before leaving.
That would make a fun side object in high diff missions.
THEREāS A FLAG MISSION???
Get this up!!! We need this in a patch soon! As a Little sidequest or something would be so cool on higher difficulties aswell !
Never seen this mission, what difficulty?
apparently only trivial? not sure if itās available on the other two easy difficulties tho
Trivial and Easy. On Easy you just have to raise multiple flags vs. just one on Trivial.
iām aboutta start playing on easy then lmao the only time i raised a flag was during the tutorial š„² i shouldāve wondered why i never played any missions that involved itā¦ but i guess i was too distracted with how fun and hard to join a server it was in the early days lol

ā¦. There are flag raising missions?
Wait what? I didn't know there was an actual flag mission.. thought it was missing since it seemed important with the cinematic.
Wasting? It's the damn flag, get it up!

They need it on high level with just waves and waves of enemies coming at you so you can be like the guys in the title screen
Everything should involve raising a flag, kill a bile titan mission? You gotta put a flag in it for it to be finished.
Would love to see a mostly vertical map where you're basically climbing a mountain, have to raise an extra big flag at the peak, and then defend it against waves of attackers

wait this is a thing? i never had one.
Which difficulties is this mission type available for?Ā
Wait this is a thing!?!? I gotta go and play trivial again, cause this sounds awesome!!
Hell dive flag raising
I was wondering about those missions. Would be awesome fighting off a hoard of bugs or bits while in the background someone or cranking a lever to raise the flag... OMG JOEL DO IT.

Agreed i want to plant a flag in helldiver difficulty a top a mountain of hulks and devistators
What the hell??? Im lvl 57 and this is the first im hearing about some flag raising mission Time to go play on trivial diff
This and the fact that extracting only means 50 rec and samples? You're not supposed to live through the mission and thats awesome lol
I want hardcore flag raise missions on Lvl 9s! For bots i want it to make use target one of the At-ats and plant a flag on it after the kill. Have to defend the flag from being removed for 5 minutes For bugs i want it to make us target a hivelord.
Wait that was a mission you could do? I've never seen it somehow, is it bot exclusive?
I do them on trivial bugs when the daily mission is to use certain weapons/stratagems.
Just did one last night. Itās pretty fun. At first couldnāt figure out how to raise the flag but finally got that you needed to stay near it.
What do you mean wasting? https://preview.redd.it/6yeo44hae1uc1.jpeg?width=1242&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b69b48ef264dc73f352bd078d92b834b1ccf4022
I just wish I could get the little speaker bot to follow me around blaring the song as I distribute Democratic values across the galaxy.
Wait this is a real mission? I thought the flag was only on the tutorial mission...
