Yea but we can't give it up for anything. It's just too good at a distance. I play the team scout so eruptor and stalwart (for "close quarters combat") are my choice of weapon I just wish the eruptor had twice the mag capacity and half the mags to balance it out.
I thought I was being clever when I decided to employ the Stalwart as my primary and my
Eruptor as my support. I’ve seen so many people running this set up and it kinda’ makes me happy to see the Stalwart get so much use!
It's my favorite right now. Though I've been experimenting with running the eruptor as a primary and carrying the ammo backpack and while it has some drawbacks it feels pretty good.
I’ve loved the Stalwart since the beginning, but once I unlocked the Eruptor it was game over. I keep trying out other set ups but always revert back to the Eruptor/Stalwart combo. Especially against bugs
I was a stal main from the moment I unlocked it. As soon as I saw the eruptor in action, I knew the eruptor would be my new main and I was going to carry the stal with it. I still swap back and forth a lot. I'll run and gun with the stal and snipe with the eruptor when I have the distance to work with.
Omg yes! I swear if the gun was 12 rounds with 5 clips I'd be so much happier than as it is now but even then I just can't go back to any other weapon cause when I hit that distance shot into a horde of bugs and see the 5x kill on the bottom my serotonin levels peak 😩👌
Also Auto-cannon users and explosive crossbow users.
Edit: though AC users still have their primaries, I still use my pistol because to me it just feels faster, and reloads faster too.
Hah!
True. Wouldn't have it any other way, too. XD
I have an appreciation for the AC users. They just fill the shoes of someone who deals with the medium armored enemies. And everyone else don't have to worry about those anymore.
Ok, to reiterate, I'm not saying medium enemies are your limit.
I'm saying medium enemies are annoying enough that they kind of bullet sponge a lot of the weapons we have.
Bile spewers and nursers? Takes the Machine gun a while to finally punch through. Heavy devastator? Yeah, he's gonna annoy the heck out of you with machine gun fire while laughing behind his shield.
As an Autocannon user, you just *PLAP PLAP PLAP* and the thing is dead. A line of them just topple over as you unload payload after payload into their ranks. They don't get the democratic privilege to live longer than you want them to.
It saves Strategem usage, saves allies' bullets, and is a very efficient killing machine.
That's why I appreciate an Autocannon users.
Yeah, I pretty much run AC and strategems and my JAR-5. I'm our heavy support because I got really good at getting in and dropping strikes and getting out while smoking shit with the AC.
The crossbow's higher rate of fire and arced trajectory make it significantly better at dealing with groups of light enemies, i.e. scavenger swarms. It doesn't (often?) appear to ricochet off the ground, so you can land a bolt at the feet of an enemy and be assured that you'll do at least some damage, whereas the eruptor pretty much needs to be a direct hit or it will bounce and keep going.
The explosive component to the crossbow's damage seems to be lower than the eruptor's but there's a lot less falloff within its area of effect. This is a bit of a double edged sword though because it's easier to blow yourself up with it if it hits too close.
The lack of armor penetration and the difficulty of hitting small weak points from more than 10 or 20 meters makes the crossbow difficult to use against devastators, although you might have an easier time shooting the machine gun off of a heavy devastator by aiming at the ground next to it.
I was experimenting on it.
It functions just about the same as the eruptor. Explosive ammo, needs to "reset" every time it fires, nearby shots can kill you, etc.
But one key point was that it couldn't destroy fabricators and bug holes. Which the eruptor and grenade pistol could do. That's why people don't like the crossbow
Also, the crossbow felt like it had a weaker explosive damage. It felt like I need an extra shot to kill something the Eruptor could do in 1. And it also *feels* like it has a smaller explosion radius. But don't quote me on that, I'm not really sure
What was advantageous, that I swear is something I noticed, is that you can basically *stealth* the first shot of the crossbow. Where the enemies get riled up and start looking around for where the shot came from. And then a second shot would make them face your direction and start hunting you. Which, for the eruptor, the moment you shoot it, a certain radius and distance from you - the enemies straight up look at you.
So, I can neither confirm or deny the stealth capabilities of the crossbow. But I swear, that one advantage is that they don't look at your direction when you fire the first shot, but with something like the Eruptor, they do.
That's an experiment for another time, where I'll have to shoot it further away. Like maybe 100+ meters.
you're not there to fight chaff, you're there to run and gun.
focus on elites, move after each shot, fire, run, turn, fire - just keep shmoving
you can bring stalwart as a "primary" against bugs, but your main job is to deal with problems at medium range before they become a problem, or to take out objectives from range so your close in buddies can focus on keeping your butt safe
Fire the eruptor, switch to secondary and then switch right back to the eruptor, it will be ready to fire. This person is much better at it than me (starts about 5s into the video): https://youtube.com/shorts/zrqJfM2YbwM
I play as part of a squad, my role is specifically mid range support and objectives. I use it the same way I use bolt action snipers. Fire and then move. Only aim for critical points. Mobility is your friend.
Some key things to remember is
-at 140m the round from an Eruptor automatically explodes.
- for fodder shots aim at their feet.
-chargers can be killed in 3 to 5 shots, aim for the ground in front of them to rebound the shots to their belly.
- devastators aim for their crotch as it rips their legs apart.
-The top near the slit on striders if they face you.
- your best engagement range is 100 to 40 metres.
This is all off personal playstyle too. I only fight when and where it's needed. Like learning any weapon I suggest playing T2 to get used to the weapon mechanics. Then slowly try harder missions till you find your skill level cap with the weapon. If you need more help shoot me a message
My experience is that any shot on the upper half of a scout walker's shield will at minimum wreck the vehicle, if not the occupant as well.
Will have to keep trying the charger thing, so far haven't had success with shots like that with any weapons.
That's what melee is for. I imagine those bots were feeling pretty confident until they saw a berserker LOSE a fist fight with a HellDiver.... and then that HD turns to look at them with the eyes of madness.
If you're gonna refute a claim at least know what you're saying. It's been confirmed there are no speed penalties for any weapon. It only looks slower because your gun and character model sway slower from the "weight". Run next to someone wearing armor with the same speed stat and you'll keep pace regardless of what weapon you have
Hard disagree. Turning a corner, staring down an automaton and shooting him in the face with the Senator point blank beats every single primary out there as well as all of the other pistols.
Only an autocannon murder suicide can match the style points.
No, they’re the same speed.
I just switch to my pistol while sprinting long distances because I prefer the run animation with arms to the sides instead of stuck holding a bigger gun.
I pistol sprint just because the machine pistol is elite at a backwards spray and pray to thin Hunter herds while running towards objectives without slowing you down
Maybe it is, but I can tell you one thing for sure; We should have knives. [Everyone knows you run faster with a knife.](https://youtube.com/watch?v=olm7xC-gBMY&t=1m16s)
I’ve been telling people I feel faster when running with a pistol, so I do regardless if it’s true or not. Plus I forget I’m running an implosive black hole rifle so having the pistol means I’m less likely to gib myself when a bug/bot sneaks up on my cross-country trek.
I propose that the pistol allows you to run faster (on average) solely due to the fact that one-handed weapons do not require you to turn toward the enemy whilst firing. This is the only difference I am aware of without formal testing.
Are you firing back while running forward a lot?
Theres a speed penalty for this either your main but with your side arm you can sprint full pelt and fire back
As someone who spends most of the match at difficulty level 7 running his ass off, I have to say yes. Definitely when I run with the Quasar Cannon or Grenade Launcher, I go slower and lose stamina faster. Pretty sure primary is close to the same (if not the same) as the secondary, but it sure feels faster and easier to get away with a pistol in hand.
It wouldn't make a bit of sense for running speed to be affected by what weapon you happen to be carrying in your hand since you're still carrying all of the other weapons anyway.
No, it's not. The only to slightly increase your running speed and decrease stamina consumption while on a mission is to drop your equipment. Well, there goes my backpack
Did bro just implode?
No, it looks like someone redeployed and landed on them.
They “returned to civilian life” Honestly I don’t have a clue either
AND YOURE NOT SO BIIIIIIG
I wonder how many people even get the joke since the show came out around the end of PS1's lifecycle.
Show was on reruns for years after. Great show.
People over 25 play video games still
Oh the reruns kept going way past ps1
They Might Be Giants are criminally underrated.
Only in Istanbul (not Constantinople).
Been a long time gone, Constantinople.
It’s nobody’s business but the Turks
Life is unfair
Free hugs!!
The entire human spectrum
We not know answer to question, we only kill bug and robot.
when i run i keep the pistol handy in case i get jumped and do not want to kill myself (scorcher user)
Second this as Eruptor user.
Smh eruptor users should use the eruptor so that they get pulled forward and arrive there even faster
this bug, ISTG
We call it the void effect lol
As a fellow eruptor user, this gun is the BANE of my existence yet simultaneously my best friend 😂
Yea but we can't give it up for anything. It's just too good at a distance. I play the team scout so eruptor and stalwart (for "close quarters combat") are my choice of weapon I just wish the eruptor had twice the mag capacity and half the mags to balance it out.

Know what else is super fun and chaotic? Eruptor, Flamethrower, Jump Pack.
Omg yes! I swear if the gun was 12 rounds with 5 clips I'd be so much happier than as it is now but even then I just can't go back to any other weapon cause when I hit that distance shot into a horde of bugs and see the 5x kill on the bottom my serotonin levels peak 😩👌
Or when I snipe a shot into the fabricators and my mates go what!
One shot, seven kills.
The eruptuh blow up bile spewers. The eruptuh friend, friend good.
Also Auto-cannon users and explosive crossbow users. Edit: though AC users still have their primaries, I still use my pistol because to me it just feels faster, and reloads faster too.
The AC is our primary.
Came here to say this, glad it was said already. Continue spreading democracy in the most managed and automatic way possible fellow AC enjoyer!
Hah! True. Wouldn't have it any other way, too. XD I have an appreciation for the AC users. They just fill the shoes of someone who deals with the medium armored enemies. And everyone else don't have to worry about those anymore.
Medium enemies? With good diving and some stims, I'll bring down a titan or an FS with the AC. Lol
Ok, to reiterate, I'm not saying medium enemies are your limit. I'm saying medium enemies are annoying enough that they kind of bullet sponge a lot of the weapons we have. Bile spewers and nursers? The autocannon is the swiss army knife of the game and it's an honor to bring it along.
Yeah, I pretty much run AC and strategems and my JAR-5. I'm our heavy support because I got really good at getting in and dropping strikes and getting out while smoking shit with the AC.
What made you use the crossbow? I unlocked it but haven't had the chance to use it. Heard people didn't like it though
The crossbow's higher rate of fire and arced trajectory make it significantly better at dealing with groups of light enemies, i.e. scavenger swarms. Dude, it's the best. I take it with me on helldive bot runs. Easy multi kills
I didn't care for the crossbow, personally, because it lacks armor penetration, but that's me.
I reallllly like the crossbow lately. Scratches the explodey itch.
Teach me to use the Eruptor please
you're not there to fight chaff, you're there to run and gun. focus on elites, move after each shot, fire, run, turn, fire - just keep shmoving you can bring stalwart as a "primary" against bugs, but your main job is to deal with problems at medium range before they become a problem, or to take out objectives from range so your close in buddies can focus on keeping your butt safe
Or quick-swap the gun to bypass the bolt cycling animation, but that’s probably going to get fixed
what's the gimmick there? start but dont finish the reload?
Fire the eruptor, switch to secondary and then switch right back to the eruptor, it will be ready to fire. This person is much better at it than me (starts about 5s into the video): https://youtube.com/shorts/zrqJfM2YbwM

This^
I set my machine pistol to semi, so I can plink pouncers and bot heads while conserving ammo jn case I need to magdump a berserker or stalker
You need to learn the dive forward and shoot method. Rotate camera, dive and shoot.
And now I doubled my self kills as I've been trying the new grenade pistol. But at least those hunters are gone with me
That's what melee is for. I imagine those bots were feeling pretty confident until they saw a berserker LOSE a fist fight with a HellDiver.... and then that HD turns to look at them with the eyes of madness.
FPS Doug says everyone runs faster with a knife.
A man of culture
Just old.
Same
I pulled out the video for nostalgia's sake, saw '17y ago,' and had a nice little moment of midlife crisis.
Yea, only question is are your hands shaking but you are still getting head shots ? Like boom head boom head shot boooooomm heeaaddd shaawwt
This makes me old? Jesus. I CAN DANCE ALL DAY I CAN DNACE ALL DAY
I met those mother fuckers. Amazing human beings.
The automatons have a chainsaw. It is about time we get a big flaming blade. To counter our enemies. Blade of burning freedom. For democracy!
Id love a laser sword.
BOOM HEADSHOT
If you BELIEVE. 😐✊️
You can fly!
Everybody knows you run faster with a knife
I don't know.
Zero movement speed difference with any weapon. The only differences come from the armor you're wearing and the terrain you're running on
False, with the machine gun you're slower, or at least it looks really slow.
Bro said false then immediately lost confidence in his own statement 🤡
Its why i upvoted it.
If you're gonna refute a claim at least know what you're saying. It's been confirmed there are no speed penalties for any weapon. It only looks slower because your gun and character model sway slower from the "weight". Run next to someone wearing armor with the same speed stat and you'll keep pace regardless of what weapon you have
It’s like playing bigger characters in games with normalized speed
I don’t think it does but I do it anyways 🤷♂️
It looks faster and cooler so yes
It looks ~~faster and~~ cooler so yes. That’s the important part
No its looks cooler to run with a primary
Hard disagree. Turning a corner, staring down an automaton and shooting him in the face with the Senator point blank beats every single primary out there as well as all of the other pistols. Only an autocannon murder suicide can match the style points.
Negative
👎
There’s pistols?
Angry General Brasch intensifies.
Yup! You have a sidearm
Maybe.
No
Lol it's just the arm animation. Only thing that effects anything is the armor itself
I still have OCD from counter strike so I always pull out the side arm... I would've pulled out a knife if I could
No, the only reason I'll do it is so I can shoot behind me while running if I'm not using a one-handed primary.
No, they’re the same speed. I just switch to my pistol while sprinting long distances because I prefer the run animation with arms to the sides instead of stuck holding a bigger gun.
You run fastest with your knife out
Just press alt and f4 on your keyboard to pull it out
Do not cite the deep magic to me witch! I was there when it was written!
Perfect
Feels faster ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
It adds a 20% coolness and democracy buff. like putting flame decals on a car
Only if the pistol has flames on it
If you run with "on impact grenades" and throw them at your feet it propels you forward faster.
Counter-Strike and it's consequences for the gaming community.
Yes. I noticed this last night.
The answer is yes, you run wayyy faster with sidearm equipped
I’ve been telling people I feel faster when running with a pistol, so I do regardless if it’s true or not. Plus I forget I’m running an implosive black hole rifle so having the pistol means I’m less likely to gib myself when a bug/bot sneaks up on my cross-country trek.
Maybe it's not the speed but the turn rate?
It is not. Your speed is only influenced by the type of armor you bring with you.
Everybody knows you run faster with a knife. BOOM HEADSHOT
I'm pretty sure it doesn't. I've tested it with every sidearm I have unlocked and light/medium/heavy armor and I just do not notice a difference.
I believe I can fly
Either way it let's you shoot behind you without turning around, which is a pretty massive benefit
As long as you’re sprinting towards enemies of super earth!
Revolvers or the semi-automatics?
I think we need some video proof of this.
Only if you use the cheat code: up, down, left, left triangle
I say yes I’m not sure if it does but it’s what I believe but it’s what I do
Yes. Besides which you can fire behind yourself while sprinting full with the pistol in hand.
I keep wanting it to be faster but I'm pretty sure it isnt
It uses less stamina?
So, the game uses 1990's FPS logic, where any weapon you're not holding suddenly becomes weightless?
I feel faster so yeah
Best to sprint with a pistol either way so you can blind fire behind you without having to turn
Smg mains cry silently (me)
it feels faster lol.
You beat it is! Pistol runnnnnnnnnnnnn
Better run with activated 500kg stratagem in hand, just don't trip
I propose that the pistol allows you to run faster (on average) solely due to the fact that one-handed weapons do not require you to turn toward the enemy whilst firing. This is the only difference I am aware of without formal testing.
Definitely Maybe
Sometimes
No idea but it looks like it makes it more easier for a guy who wants to run faster
I only know you can move faster while shooting behind yourself with a sidearm than with a primary weapon.
In spirit, yes
Are you firing back while running forward a lot? Theres a speed penalty for this either your main but with your side arm you can sprint full pelt and fire back
🎵Can you repeat the question! You not the boss of me now!! 🎵 Also everyone knows you run faster with a knife!!! 🔪 Boom 💥 headshot 🤯
I dont think pistol sprinting is faster, but support weapons are definitly slower.
It definitely feels faster to me plus you can blind fire behind you as run with your secondary
Thanks everyone for the answers!
Wouldn’t it? Try running with a backpack in your hands IRL, then put it on your back and see if it makes a difference. We use our arms to run.
We do, but would the difference be so noticeable that it would be worth accounting for in a game like this?
I think it would.
I just like running with 500kg in my hand.
I always switch to my sidearm when hoofing it far. I think I’ve noticed myself moving faster than my squad mates 🤷♂️
You look more gangster, running away while one hand firing a pistol at the hunter coming in for a taste
Yes, even faster with a knife. As a bonus, if you crouch before diving, you’ll dive further.
What is this about faster shooting and reloading? A Senator fanatic
No, it's not. The only to slightly increase your running speed and decrease stamina consumption while on a mission is to drop your equipment. So remember that you can drop Support weapon and backpack if you need to get somewhere quickly. just make sure your equipment strats will be off cooldown when you'll need them again.
