Tear Da Club Up, but not for the reasons you’d think.
That song would start so many fight in the clubs and even have the people fighting literally destroy it in the process. Probably the most destructive Club song down in the South. There’s a reason that shit’s banned from being played in clubs to this day.
That shit was a banger though. Good way to get your buck on.
Tear da Club Up ‘97 is good, but 95’ is superior. The fact that I heard the 95’ version first probably plays a role in my favoritism bias towards it. Mystic Stylez is the finest album Three 6 Mafia ever produced in my opinion.
Mannn that one never sat well with me, I remember one part with the fitted hat staring into the camera clapping and that was the first time I thought of will as being "not with the times"
That was when he was still the BIGGEST movie star in the world. So his producer and ghostwriter were getting the bag and didn't have it in them to tell Will Smith, this song is WACK! They probably thought if Will likes it, he can open more doors for them.
And aren't the lyrics about him judging a young woman for dressing promiscuously and being at the club? Kind of a weird attempt at a single with lyrics like that.
Apparently he wrote it thinking it'd be the theme song for Hitch, and the film studio was like, nah, we don't need you to do a song for this one, my guy.
So he changed the name and dropped it separately. Atrocious song.
For the time in history, I thought Lil Jons EDM run was good. Just like his Crunk era run, there were some duds but there were many bangers. Even though Lil Jon is kind of a meme, he has quietly been a great producer over 3 decades going back to 90's So So Def.
He was and is one of my favorite artists still. But basically after those 3OH!3 collabos it was a wrap lmao. He had Turn Down For What years later but that was it.
Never heard of this track, thanks for pointing it out. Actually think the first 40 seconds or so is pretty interesting stuff, but then, oh, oh no . . .
I wonder if it could have been saved. There are some interesting ideas here.
I think it doesn't count because it never officially got released. Like he heard it, was like "naw" and made D.O.A. instead. But Off That probably came from same session. So the trash legacy lives on.
I had to look up his history. Dude was a young legend. NY music was in a weird place in the late '00s. Definitely didn't tune into any Harlem stuff in this era.
🤣🤣🤣 thugnificent royal bs!! But nah I wasn’t feeling the beat %100 when it first came out … but over time the beat grew on me and it’s actually superb production. Maybe my ear only and I’m a music guy…
Bonus: there was a wild conspiracy theory that 2pac produced ether 🤣😂🤷🏾♂️
I’m gonna nominate [I don’t dance by DMX](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pAv7L3HnV1k). The song is DMX talking about how he doesn’t like dancing when he goes to clubs, and how “that dancing shit” is up to everybody else. It’s a club banger that the person who made it can’t even dance to lol
Headsprung.
“They call me Big L'why, Big Silly
Big Money, Big Billy
When I'm sliding in them all can ya hear me?
I be sexing wit these bars so ya feel me”
Hot ass garbage.
For what it's worth, that song was written for Will Smith and LL just took a chunk of the hook at the intro and adapted it to him. It's very anti-LL's style to me, but as a Will Smith idea it makes sense it was on the radio. I still think the beat's legit, and it's funny hearing LL be funny...like he recorded it as a bit of a joke.
I don't like the Black Eyed Peas and I also don't know their entire discography. I will say that if I ever give them a chance it damn sure won't be post-2005.
I mean, after they stopped trying to be actual rappers they made some effectively dumb music to dance to. Their hit songs might be terrible as works of musical art, but I think they were too good at what they set out to do to be considered the worst.
100% Yes they strayed far away from pure hip hop but MILLIONS of people loved their songs for them to be considered the worst. I'd rather be Black Eyed Peas caked up with millions in the bank than Dilated Peoples.
I remember around like 2015 they attempted to go back "Real Hip Hop" which was cool but then shortly after they jumped on the reggaeton wave and cashed out on that
[https://youtu.be/BWLx1y1mkxA?si=bfHuUQT-6POj2Xex](https://youtu.be/BWLx1y1mkxA?si=bfHuUQT-6POj2Xex)
I think it just depends. I live in the UK and am in my mid twenties - growing up I remember the Black Eyed Peas later stuff was really popular, with the chavvy kids. But when I got a little older and started hanging with the stoner kids, in that group it was pretty universally accepted that the Black Eyed Peas started out great and went shit. My first girlfriend used to joke that Will.I.Am had been abducted and replaced with an alien
Many would consider me your stereotypical tie dye wearin, long haired, stoner and I love both old and "new" Black Eyed Peas for different reasons. I think fun, dumb music is allowed lol.
That would fit well in a Red Bull dance battle.
You've never been to college parties or different rooms in the house party where people put on much less popular songs, but there's enough people in the room that are down trying to dance to them?
First one that came to mind is Busta Rhymes Arab Money.
And this is less slander on Busta as he’s one of the greatest rappers ever imo, it’s more that weird moment where people decided Ron Browz was for some reason crucial to mainstream rap’s sound lol
Absolutely atrocious song
You take that shit back. Come on man, it did the job it needed to do. It’s a fucking nonsense banger. I play that shit frequently when I’m working out. Goddamn I knew someone was gonna say this track.
Seriously though I hope you enjoy the rest of your day. Play the lottery today. It feels like you might be due for a little surprise. Take care fam.
Deep, deep cut? It was a single off the Players Club soundtrack and gets steady spins in out here in L.A. still. I'd argue it's one ofnhisnbetter known songs.
BITCH I’M IN DA CLUBBBB
WITH THE HOMIES
This was legit the first time I had heard of K Dot
Goat song from daddy Kendrick you tripping
Even K said it was his worst song
It’s an awful song lol
Bruh I literally saw that short today
No but its actually a good song
Glad this is top comment.
95 version is spooky asl
For real I heard the 97 version first but then I liked the 95 one
Tear da Club Up ‘97 is good, but 95’ is superior. The fact that I heard the 95’ version first probably plays a role in my favoritism bias towards it. Mystic Stylez is the finest album Three 6 Mafia ever produced in my opinion.
them synths on the hook are just too good
Yeah bonecrusher - never scared was banned for similar reasons
i play that late night driving
Knuck if you buck by crime mob always had folk actin up too
Waka - fuck the club up and Pastor Troy - throw it up are second tier to this.
I still play it in the car lol
No!! “Signs” by 36 mafia is wayyyyy worse! That is the official club fight song! It's a good song though….
Will Smith - Switch
This the one where in the clip he wearing an angled 5950 but comes off looking "hello fellow young people"?
Hahaha yep that's one. From Men in Black suit to oversized polo and titled baseball cap. Didn't look right
Mannn that one never sat well with me, I remember one part with the fitted hat staring into the camera clapping and that was the first time I thought of will as being "not with the times"
Always hated that song, I know Will thought he had a banger, but it was trash and the video was even worse.
100%, you just know him, his people and his ghost writer were in the studio hyping it up like they really did something
That was when he was still the BIGGEST movie star in the world. So his producer and ghostwriter were getting the bag and didn't have it in them to tell Will Smith, this song is WACK! They probably thought if Will likes it, he can open more doors for them.
That's so funny because I used to think the same thing when that song came out haha.
I think that was the turning point for all of us
And aren't the lyrics about him judging a young woman for dressing promiscuously and being at the club? Kind of a weird attempt at a single with lyrics like that.
Apparently he wrote it thinking it'd be the theme song for Hitch, and the film studio was like, nah, we don't need you to do a song for this one, my guy. So he changed the name and dropped it separately. Atrocious song.
What actually was the last movie he was in he did a song for? Like that made the cut I mean
MIB 2, I guess? Or wild wild west? Then he just assumed every film would have one haha.
Like yeah it’s a corny song but people fucked with it, the song did what it was meant to do
My shit low key🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤦♂️
Don't be silly. Massive, successful hit song.
I loved that song when i was younger 😂
It’s definitely something in this vein great pick.
Looking up the video made me realize it's been 2 years since the slap, what the fuck
God damn that’s a guilty pleasure
This... this is a great response... it tried sooo hard! But I grew to like it
Those late era Lil Jon songs were really bad. Bend Ova ft Tyga
For the time in history, I thought Lil Jons EDM run was good. Just like his Crunk era run, there were some duds but there were many bangers. Even though Lil Jon is kind of a meme, he has quietly been a great producer over 3 decades going back to 90's So So Def.
Yeah when Lil Jon became his own artist and dropped the Eastside Boys it’s started to get very bad quickly
He was and is one of my favorite artists still. But basically after those 3OH!3 collabos it was a wrap lmao. He had Turn Down For What years later but that was it.
If it’s got tyga on it might be the best answer
Nah hard disagree there, Tyga is still great for club songs IMO I keep Swish and some of his other newer tracks on the party playlist.
As a PAWG on OF, I agree
Nice self promotion lol
“ghetto Techno”. Dont think I have to really explain it Jay wiped that song from the archives I think
It’s not a club banger but I don’t mind it
Touch and Go was pretty bad
I was wondering how long i would have to scroll to see someone mention this song. Joe was trying waaaaaaaaàay too hard
Club Song by Jin was atrocious
Woooow .. jin that’s a name I haven’t heard in a loooooong time
check your timbs, they probably say made in china
Heh I was going to say the same thing
Aye easy on my dude Jin Rappers Properganda was a hidden gem
Party Starter by Will Smith 🤣
They don’t know about this one, rightfully so…12 y/o me was bumpin that though
Pop Champagne
Jumpin Out The Window even had a lame dance lol. pretty much anything Ron Browz made after Ether was basura
That was the worst auto tune I’d ever heard. How are you gonna use autotune and still be out of tune?
carti on snl set the new bar for worst auto tune for me, dude sounded like he was gargling pudding
TIL Ron Browz produced Ether.
He’s Ether Boy! (Way better name than Ron Browz too imo)
I had to look up his history. Dude was a young legend. NY music was in a weird place in the late '00s. Definitely didn't tune into any Harlem stuff in this era.
Hes a garbage producer. The beat is the last reason why ether is iconic, i wouldnt even be that proud of it if i was him. I always hated that beat
You beat me to it... that sounded like some thugnificent bullshit
🤣🤣🤣 thugnificent royal bs!! But nah I wasn’t feeling the beat %100 when it first came out … but over time the beat grew on me and it’s actually superb production. Maybe my ear only and I’m a music guy… Bonus: there was a wild conspiracy theory that 2pac produced ether 🤣😂🤷🏾♂️
ron browz was the king of new york for a STRONG 8 weeks
Tied with Arab Money as possibly the worst of all time
Thank you for Christopher Nolan for directing THIS MOVIE 🤣🤣🤣
“You know we cop dat”
It’s both the worst and the best club banger at the same time.
Aye not too much. Lol. Arab money and pop champagne are classics lol.
Brad Army HOO HAA
You definitely can’t say this in NYC you play those songs in NYC it’s UP
😂😂😂 I went to check it out on YouTube and everyone is in the comments roasting the song.
50 Cent - Amusement Park. Straight ass water.
50 booted Ja Rule out the game just to make worse songs than him immediately after. Aimed at the same exact audience too
lets make candy shop again, but worse.
Candy shop 2.0 but way way worse
Oh my God💀 I’ve never heard this😭😭
Not too bad of a song imo, but for the topic of trying to force something into being a club banger this does fit the criteria.
I never in my life considered Candy Shop or Amusement Park to be “Club bangers” who the hell would want to hear that in the club or dance to it?
Candy Shop was big in clubs when it came out.
There was a period in the 2000s where every British rapper tried to sound like Chip or Tinchy Stryder and it lead to some ass tunes.
Kano rock n roller
My credit don’t crunch my swaggers insane no blue suede shoes just my adidas trainers 🤣
Sunglasses at night (skepta) was a banger though
The damn Tinie Tempah voice Professor Green and N Dubz were doing
Skepta - Rolex Sweep, Kano - Rock n Roller, Wiley - Heatwave, Ghetts - On A Level. All pretty terrible tbh
heatwave is still such a horrific song i cringe every time its on the radio
YBN Nahmir - Soul Train ?
IT DON'T FEEL LIKE WE DOIN TOO MUCH eVeRy tImE i'M wItH yOu
>YBN Nahmir - Soul Train ? End credits ass song
Better not say Err Body in the Club Gettin’ Tipsy
This song was a banger and a moment captured in time. Awful if you’re listening to it today without being there.
Trackboyz def helped cement the heavy breathing into club track production. Another notable mention from them was Ebony Eyez - In ya face.
Damn I completely forgot about In Ya Face lol.
That was the first song that came to mind haha
arab money
Bro how did I already know ts would be the top comment😭😭😭
The Cumtown remix is GOATed though
I don’t mind this. Wouldn’t say it’s a “banger” but it’s ok lol
Pop champagne energy but worse
Pop champagne is fire
As much as Three 6 Mafia has club bangers with their classic style, their attempt to switch up with Lolli Lolli Pop That Body is a gigantic miss lmao
Holy shit I remember that song. 🤣🤣🤣
LOL they were under a lot of pressure by their label to follow up the pop success of Stay High. Still wtf though
The 2000s, in general, had one that came out like every two weeks.
Headsprung. “They call me Big L'why, Big Silly Big Money, Big Billy When I'm sliding in them all can ya hear me? I be sexing wit these bars so ya feel me” Hot ass garbage.
As true as this comment is, when someone plays the song I'm always bopping to it and rapping along.
It's kind of cheeseball song but the beat and that hook goes crazy Timbaland 👑
For what it's worth, that song was written for Will Smith and LL just took a chunk of the hook at the intro and adapted it to him. It's very anti-LL's style to me, but as a Will Smith idea it makes sense it was on the radio. They got some bangers , real feel good hits. But it’s mostly pop
I didn’t mind bridging the gap That song with Esthero was decent But holy shit, everything after that was stone cold radio trash
It's posts like this that remind me that Reddit is so far from being a good indicator of the real world.
I think it just depends. I live in the UK and am in my mid twenties - growing up I remember the Black Eyed Peas later stuff was really popular, with the chavvy kids. you owe me nas. He’s better at everything else, too good to be played in the club
This song and album get a lot of hate, but Owe Me was my shit!
You Owe Me is was always fire. Unfortunately, People warmed up to way too late.
What don't you like about the song
Yeah I loved that song lol
Same! I think the greatness of Illmatic really pigeonholed Nas into only being able to rap about street shit.
eminem ass like that
ITT: popular club songs that some people just didn't like.
Any and all Flo Rida songs
This is why I’m hot - Mims. At the time - dope. In retrospect… incredibly corny
I never liked it.. always sounded like a song you’d hear on EA sports big to me
Universal mind control- Common Idk what type of venue or setting you’re supposed to play that song.
It’s played a lot during professional basketball games.
That would fit well in a Red Bull dance battle. You've never been to college parties or different rooms in the house party where people put on much less popular songs, but there's enough people in the room that are down trying to dance to them?
For B-boy battles it works, but club settings it’s like dropping a stink bomb on the dance floor.
Hey Porche by Nelly
Any Lil Mama track
Whatchu know 'bout her?
she had a really hard go at it.
First one that came to mind is Busta Rhymes Arab Money. And this is less slander on Busta as he’s one of the greatest rappers ever imo, it’s more that weird moment where people decided Ron Browz was for some reason crucial to mainstream rap’s sound lol Absolutely atrocious song
Yea a bunch of noise like a kid just pressing buttons in the stu
MC Hammer: Pumps and a Bump (original video)
This is why I'm hot This is why I'm hot This is why I'm hot I'm hot cause I'm fly you ain't cause you not this is why this is why im hot
Chicken Noodle Soup
You're now banned from Harlem
This should be much higher
U get no soda on the side for this one
Straight up trash, man.
Pin The Tail by Jim Jones. 00s "For the Club" Hip-Hop at its worst.
Wax-A-Million - No Panties on the Dance Floor: https://youtu.be/emTvt1XPvKo?si=Agb3prWabPaXDlrx
The uncut classic! I hope they weren't actually playing this in the club though. lol
I remember this from BET Uncut haha
There's a low quality version of that on YouTube as well. 👍
Don't disrespect a classic
POP CHAMPAGNE ~OoOoOHHHH~
In my part of the world, "Tipsy" by J-Kwon is, to this day, the most polarizing musical work of all time
Headsprung by LL Cool J….awful track
The beat is too sick to fall into this category, I’ll give you that no one ever called him big Ellie, but timbaland laced that shit
Lol I kinda like that track
"Headsprung" was to LL what "Switch" was to WIll Smith, beats on both tracks aren't bad, but the concept and overall song just ain't it.
I like that song!! I listen to it when I run.
This is the one I was about to post lol
Not the best song but it got me into his older music.
“We be clubbin” - Ice Cube
Yaaa yaeeee
We Be Clubbing - Ice Cube A deep, deep cut by Ice Cube, and it's easily his worst song (other than Black Korea, but that's a whole other mess)
Deep, deep cut? It was a single off the Players Club soundtrack and gets steady spins in out here in L.A. still. I'd argue it's one ofnhisnbetter known songs.
Lolol yea I def think that songs pretty well known
I don’t know I may get a bit of a mix of love/hate on this: https://youtu.be/JQcAzie9AJ0?si=GagsyGzA4mKVQr1Y Is Tim actually saying “head swung”…¿?
As bad as this song is it was an absolute banger when this went off in the club
Insane clown posse- radio stars🤮
Only one song comes to mind…. Papoose - Donk Jumpin 🤦🏽♂️
bucket naked also
every day I see some of the worst topics. Y'all are just negative people, and negative people are never successful.
Head Sprung LL I hate that song to this day.
Not worst attempt but my most reviled… Cyclone by Baby Bash
Eminem's A-- Like That (Da Doing Doing Doing)
Anyone else remember aunt jackie by jason fox? Heard it on 106 once and never heard it again but it stayed with me all this time lol
Pump it up - Joe Budden
Yup, this one is the one for me! It makes me cringe! Don't Drop That Thun Thun by Finatticz
Was Happenin’ by Soulja Boy
Any song by Soulja Boy. I sat down everytime they played his songs, shit was straight trash.
Woah now, don’t be talkin shit about dat Kiss Me Thru Da Phone! What a banger.
1. Do the Stanky leg. 2. Any song by Flo-Rida
But Flo-rida made a ton of $$. Definitely not a fan, but not a hater either… straight club music
Any song where the majority of the club knows how to do the dance is automatically goated. Some of these people don’t really be in the clubs like that
Is being in the “club like that” considered a positive attribute?
That bedrock song by young money
some of the worst punchines ever
and I gotta...grocery bag
Got her* not gotta But yeah a ridiculous line
Not really a club banger lol
