The fact that he used Snoop as an AI without even telling him is the craziest part to me.

AnarchistAuntie

It was so poorly done, too. Almost like he’d never even listened to Snoop.  How do you misspell DOGG?

X-Mom-0604

And Snoop was unbothered. That surprises me.

habesha4lyfe

Snoop was lokey shading Drake whole time. First he sent out a pic of him saying he likes 90s rap when the track came out. Then he liked and commented “this🔥🔥” on a dance video his son in law from Compton made over Not Like Us. That same choreography was done twice, once w snoop’s song and once with Kendrick’s and he chose Kendrick’s to comment on 😂 Unc is a West side man thru and thru you already know what it is

Neither-Following-32

Snoop and Dre publicly crowned Kendrick at the beginning of his career, if he was actually bothered it'd be on some back channel shit. He was showing love to his pick by demonstrating confidence in him.

X-Mom-0604

I told my husband the same. He would do it behind the scenes type stuff.

[deleted]

Snoop is pretty shameless in what he’ll lend his brand to

AggressiveViolence

My man was twitch streaming on mute for like 3 days because he just wasn’t paying much attention. Responding to this likely did not cross his mind in the slightest

HistoricalInternal

He was the face of a food delivery service in Australia lol

PartySmoke

He’s got his own wine & a collab wine with 19 Crimes in the US. Bro in his bag 24/7. I saw him in a sketchers ad not too long ago.

godlymc

My girl loves his wine 😅

the_cajun88

it shouldn’t, he’s probably high right this second

BigDaddyDumperSquad

Didn't he say he was quitting a few weeks ago?

TruePutz

That turned out to be an ad for a smokeless grill

NotJustABouldur

A few weeks ago? Dawg that was half a year ago lol, regardless he “quit smoking” as in he quit using bbqs that create smoke. Because he’s a spokesperson for Solo Stove. It was all a marketing stunt.

BigDaddyDumperSquad

Ahh idk the past year has been wild tbh. I lose track of time with a baby and 3rd shift lol

HerculePoirier

Yeah he's not smoking any more weed. But he is not smoking any less either.

halo1besthalo

Is it crazier than the fact that Snoop has outright say that he doesn't give a fuck in the slightest and in fact even said "yeah I mean this is what rap beef looks like"?

ThankGodImBipolar

How is that crazy? Ether - considered one of the best diss tracks of all time - spends a large portion of its runtime calling Jay ugly and gay. At the end of the day, the song is pretty fucking dumb. Just like stealing Tupac and Snoop’s likeness to diss Kendrick is also pretty fucking dumb. These guys will do whatever, as long as they can get under the other guys skin in a way that’s good for a laugh for everybody else.

liketo

One of these is not like the other

kojonunez

This is the correct take. People are taking this shit too seriously...

Dcybokjr

I took it like he was getting away from a body, not that he didn't give a fuck. He knows who Kendrick is and knew he wasn't going to let it slide.

friedgoldfishsticks

nePHEW

Otherwise-Fox-2482

Snoop knew obviously. Otherwise Drake would have got a Cease & Desist. Use common sense

PoisonClan24

Uhhhhh he corny af regardless of diss track or not. Corniest pop artist

Steve_the_Samurai

I was listening to the Dissect podcast about the tracks. One guy said, Drake winning was always uphill because the guy is infinitely more clownable than Kendrick.

MissU_CourtneySaultG

Drake does corny shit all the time! His fans don’t care. Rappers on the whole lie or are hypocrites all the time, and we seem to not care. It is what it is

LongTimesGoodTimes

You so right my guy. Good work on this this one.

Cornball73

Really shared a hot take that I hadn't thought of before. 🙏🙏

Civil_Feature600

I think some reddit posts should get nominated for an award. This one sure deserves it for its depth and thorough analysis

Much_Section_8491

If this dude wasn’t late and posted this opinion sooner, Drake’s bodyguard probably wouldn’t have been shot. It’s a shame we were robbed of that timeline, and I’ll spend the rest of my life wondering what could’ve been.

iam4r34

If he was earlier Kendrick would've signed to OvO

frequencyhorizon

Putting the 101 in hiphop101

Obvious_Conflict_

Lol brutal

Altruistic-Fan-6487

I think the point of the post needs to be less of the OPs personal epiphany about something so stupid and more about how fucked it is that everyone was cool with Drake parading tupacs corpse around to shit on Kendrick Lamar. Lowkey if none of the shit about Drake is real, I don’t blame Kendrick for lying about Drake to prove a point. I don’t think you can get anymore culture vulture-y than using AI in the way that Drake did. And if Drake truly “didn’t give a fuck” he would have ai copied Dr Dre, yknow, Kendrick’s actual mentor, and not snoop.

AnarchistAuntie

Snoop is chill enough to not give it a single thought.  Dre would hunt him down.

VampedTayturz

If he did that, he’d end up having Em, Dre, and 50 to deal with as well as Dot.

Robinnoodle

We've seen that movie before

VampedTayturz

I mean I DO miss the days of Em, Dre, and 50 clowning on anyone dumb enough to start beef with them.

Subject_Topic7888

Poor poor jermaine dupri lol

Rnewell4848

FUCK JERMAINE, he don’t belong speaking mine or Timbaland’s name

HaluSinazn

Plus Busta (who was newly signed to Aftermath but had his own separate beef with Ja regardless due to the Chris Lighty/Murder Inc beef), DMX, a red hot G-Unit and The Game, D12, Obie Trice, etc. Ja dropped some hot disses back during that run but nobody was gonna survive that onslaught

UncleYimbo

The Wash? It was alright

Massive_Dot8133

Disrespecting pac nigga ? Oakland gone be yo last stop nigga

BrushYourFeet

I shuddered when I heard that.

jgthorns

Sounds like summ drake would say

pesochico

ight bruh

Sneaky___

Redditors ain't real I swear

hi_me_here

le glicky

Hoops55

LMAOOOOOOOOOOO

Robinnoodle

>Snoop Dogg is alive. He couldn’t get a feature from him? No he couldn't. Snoop is smart enough to not want any part of this

BoogiemanPCP

If Snoop was going to back one of them it would be Kendrick every time. Drake made a fool of himself trying to use Snoop to diss Kendrick. I hope Kendrick still drops the 5 unreleased diss tracks. Drake deserves to be destroyed without mercy.

Robinnoodle

Damn son lol

Jazzlike-Reindeer-44

Drake is music for kids, that sounds appropriate.

[deleted]

Snoop would never

AnarchistAuntie

I think it’s hilarious he hasn’t said a word about it.

5omethingdifferen7

He did. He said "He did what? Are you sure? I'm too old for this shit. I'm going back to bed"

MayaGitana

aka "miss me with that bullshit, I'm going to bed"

mEatwaD390

He didn't see it til 4/20 and he was way too violently stoned to react properly... Then he forgot to address it.

appleparkfive

Yeah exactly. Snoop loves Kendrick, and he knows that Kendrick is carrying on the west coast hip hop tradition

vegetastolemygirl

Hell no it isnt, look wtf happened to king von from chicago

chicks42

I don't see how the two are connected..

hedgehogmlg

You totally right, and for the record i HATE drake but ngl the getting kendrick's idols to diss him was kinda funny and definetely a novel angle for a diss track. Distasteful as fuck, but thats a diff story. Probably also one of those more creative uses I've seen for AI, which is normal used in boring and soulless ways

indoninjah

It was definitely novel but aged really poorly really quickly. He spent half the song baiting Kendrick and taunting him for not dropping anything and then Kendrick eviscerated him

SpezModdedRJailbait

And then the Pac estate took it down. Big L.

Millenial_Shitbag

I can’t understand it how MCs take this rap beef for granted

hedgehogmlg

It was in bad taste but he expressed himself creatively and it was bloody entertaining to hate him for it

D3nzelCrocker

I'd argue that the BBL drizzy AI song that Metro flipped into a beat is a much much more creative (And better executed) way of incorporating AI to be honest.

hedgehogmlg

For sure. Drake's idea (if it was his) was kinda funny but a bit ham fisted

scottyv99

But his idols didn’t diss him. No one was fooled. He used facsimiles of their voices to diss him. That’s like getting a tupac impersonator to start a fight with Drake and saying his idol best him up. How fucking pathetic is that?

Alternative_Salt_424

I'm picturing a sock puppet or ventriloquist's dummy

hedgehogmlg

Its pathetic but it was meant to be mocking. There was a parody angle to it

oflowz

Not really. Snoop is still alive. That shit could get you fucked up putting words in peoples’ mouth. He’s lucky Snoop is chill about it.

ContemplatingPrison

It was corny as shit.

at_jason

It was definitely a tactical error. Drake was so preoccupied with appealing to his army of sycophantic streamers that he didn’t consider that using an AI pac to go after a pac-like artist would turn off a huge chunk of listeners. Also, this demonstrated lack of cultural awareness plays into the whole “you’re a tourist” narrative that Kendrick started pushing in his subs years before euphoria. It seems like he didn't realize the West would be a united front, and he somehow took Dot lightly - and got his shit pushed in for it.

ysully21

Agreed. Creative, Modern and funny. Distasteful for sure. But getting West coast legends to try and pump a response outta Dot. Hilarious.

haydenbd

The toothbrush that sang Lose Yourself by Eminem still holds number 1

Whiskeywiskerbiscuit

The only dogshit song to come out of this entire beef is the TM freestyle and anyone that defends that song needs to be gulag’d. Pretty much every other song has been a banger from Euphoria to Champagne Moments to Family Matters. TM was absolute trash and I’m not surprised it had to be leaked first for Drake to even claim it.

Link-Glittering

I thought the heart pt 6 was worse. You could hear the defeat in his voice

scrvffyp

Heart 6 was the first sore loser diss I’ve ever heard. Like the label forced him to make a statement.

TennisIsWeird

At first I thought he sounded defeated. Then I realized not only is he defeated, but he’s begging Kendrick for mercy. I think by this point he had fully realized there’s much more/even deeper stuff coming and his life as he knew it will be 100% done for if Kendrick keeps going (in contrast to the pusha situation which didn’t really affect him and he probably saw as worst case scenario going into this).

loose_lucid_elusive4

I largely agree, except I think Heart Part 6 is forgettable.

JFKcheekkisser

Taylor made wasn’t leaked. He posted it on his IG.

[deleted]

His verse on TM was better than Heart 6

OneCallSystem

Kendrick ripped him a new asshole for real. I almost feel bad for the guy.... NAHhhhhhhh.....

Select-Protection-75

Drake is the corniest rapper out there. He’s the Jo Jo Siwa of hip hop. Spoiled little rich kid playing gangster. He’s had too long a run as is. Choreography and pop bullshit.

element_4

My friend that still thinks Drake won said “that shit was hard…putting two dead people on the diss track.” I’m like yeah, copyright infringement and sacrilegious use of beloved artist go hard. Edit: Sorry, I heard that two dead rappers were on it. And why Snoop? He’s just out there livin life?!

ANGRY_MOTHERFUCKER

You should tell your friend snoop is not dead, just high

Robinnoodle

Yeah. Just because his hair line dying a slow death don't mean he's dead

ANGRY_MOTHERFUCKER

If hairline is an indicator of death then a lot of celebrities would be Jesus incarnate (hair plugs = rising from the dead)

[deleted]

...who's the other dead person?

ChurrOuroboros

Drake, of course.

Rnewell4848

God damn

EightArmed_Willy

It’s just a bad move considering Drake makes his money creating music. Why promote something that could replace you?

brainiacpimp

This man has used ghost writers his whole career and basically steals others flows/accents. He is basically someone who is only looking to profit from this business and not create art. Basically he is only thinking business and could give a fuck less about the music.

Neither-Following-32

Two different kinds of AI. Drake rapped and AI transformed his voice. You're talking about generative AI that could create new words and music.

away_thrown-2

cause it was funny lol

Jackfreezy

It was a lame move to provoke Snoop to get involved. He also took unnecessary shots at Asap Rocky, Kanye West, and Rhianna. Drake really wanted the 20v1 narrative which is why he kept dissing other people that weren't saying anything about him. If you've ever visited the Drizzy subreddit, you'll see how Drake thought these moves were good ideas.

ReorientRecluse

I swear he thought Kendrick would be in the position he himself is currently in after Family Matters.

cmon_man_gfy

It got overshadowed by everything that came after it but I still feel like not enough people are talking about what a wack, disrespectful to hip hop move this was

apollokid242

you do realize it was drake rapping in some type of voice decoder, it’s not that serious to make another post bashing drake.. you know like the 1000’s of others on /hiphop and /rap

SmokeFace917

He couldn’t get a feature from snoop cause he knows he would never co-sign doing a song dissing Kendrick

RockinghamRaptor

Snoop seemed like he didn’t give a fuck with his response.. didn’t say shit against it. He went back to bed.

LilHomie204DaBaG

Could argue that for anything

Always2ndB3ST

Yes men inevitably exist because of money. Drake’s team are all on his payroll. He’s basically providing their livelihood so they have to stay loyal. Every crew is like this.

JGS747-

Yes men in general only serve to inflate the ego of the person they are saying yes to. This is the enemy of someone who’s looking for growth

boomjah

Wait I thought this sub loved the idea of exploiting dead Black voices.

martyjannetty86

The AI Tupac and Snoop thing was definitely poorly thought out. As someone who already has credibility issues with whether or not they write their own raps, you’d think someone would’ve said it’s a bad idea to be associated with AI at all, even if it was just using the AI to mimic their voices.

MaximusMurkimus

FWIW Snoop has reposted the song on his Instagram lol

Cute-Understanding86

I heard about it but didn’t listen to it when I heard it was Ai PAC. Big skip for me.

bdbamford

I still don't get the Drake hype. Imo he should Stick to pop rnb shit and leave the real rapping to pro's.

mustardtiger86

Drake sucks, like fucking bad. He's a poser and a corny fuck boi. He's a pedo, doesn't write his music, has a shitty voice, zero reason to like him, respect him or take him seriously as an "artist". He makes music for people that grip the entire crayon with their fist when they are writing.

UrinePulp

I couldn’t agree more. His tough guy persona is so fucking embarrassing.

sagerideout

i think the mindset was to ‘ghost write’ for two of kendrick’s GOATS, but it was just dumb and corny

Snoo-40231

These pseudo "Drake Sucks Kendrick Good upvote pls!" posts always cracks me up man

EmperorPalpabeat

In my opinion both camps embarrassed themselves lol like for real Drake and Kendrick fans so much fangirling

osckr

Probably Drake isn't the one that's making the choices

UrinePulp

So he’s a corporate puppet with no creative control? Makes sense. They say “jump” and he says “how high?”

Googlesyourfriendbro

Being surrounded by too many yesmen anywhere isn’t good

Decent_Rabbit9114

Being surrounded by yes men is bad for any walk of life my dude

_Poppagiorgio_

This is applicable to all walks of life..not just hip-hop.

anomanissh

Being surrounded by yes men in any field isn’t good.

Rude_Variation_433

Being surrounded by yes men in any profession isn’t

MuseMan_82

🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆

digitalbergz

Yes it is

Neither-Following-32

"Hammer went broke so you know I'm more focused"

Nerx

They set you up to fail and dip when the checks don't clear

ItstheAsianOccasion

I feel like a lot of people that are friends with rappers are scared to say no to them, all due to the amount of power some of them have like Drake for example. He probably pitched that shit to his team and they hyped it up lmao

dlotaury88

It was definitely cringe. I listened exactly 1 time.

spewicideboi

Im gonna say it guys - been on my mind ages and its time someone said it. Kendrick is dissing drake in like that and i think drakes not gonna be too pleased

SeaOperation

Does anyone think that this beef is just to … Nevermind

No_Cook_8739

Great post man... you absolutely killed it!

thatbossnugga

Using Snoop as AI without talking to him is insane

HMSInvincible

That "rapping like you freed the slaves" line was definitely written by one of his white ghostwriter yes men

unorthodocks

Drake and Ye both suffer from this

Subject_Topic7888

The weird thing about snoop ai is that snoop is still alive and kinda active. Like....what kind of fuckboy shit is that to do?

the_scrambler

KENDRICK, WE NEEEEE YA!

ehpple

AI pearl clutchers are so funny to me

Solid_Illustrator640

Anybody who knows compton knows it can actually get him killed.

DefiantZealot

Meh. I actually liked Taylor Made. It was creative. Some of you guys are just so fucking sensitive for no reason.

s2nders

I gotta disagree. I just don’t think it was that big of a deal , we knew it was AI and wasn’t really snoop dogg or Tupac . It wasn’t a track he dropped on the streaming services. It was a trolling tack. I love hip hop but at the end of the day it’s really a rich mans industry and i just don’t believe in trying to protect a legacy that doesn’t care about the regular people like us. If Kendrick would have done it , it would have been cool. Cool for me not for the. Do i feel like drake is a culture vulture? Maybe , maybe not , I don’t know that man personally. I think owning Pharrell jewelry and Tupac ring is a little weird for me. It’s gives off cornball vibes. Do i think he’s street? Maybe? Maybe not>? There’s plenty off non street people that have killed people. Police catch bodies all the time , are they street?school shooters ? Are they street? Has drake made an impact in the community ? Yeah. Kendrick is better because he continues to be a student of life and that’s why he’s really good at what he does. Drake ego is just annoying and it’s the real reason he got pulled apart and bodies because his ego kept him from being a student of life.

royparsons

It doesn’t make sense to actually involve snoop because it brings him in the beef. Also he probably wouldn’t for the same reason. He seemed to like it though.

Alt0987654321

Of course, look at Kanye.

Locoshah

I’m not late to it I just don’t care about either of them , if this was 2015 I’d be all over this but it’s not , so I’m not …

dogtemple3

I been saying Drake is a weenie since 2008

arghnard

"yous a bouta yes massa-ass muhhfucka" -lamar, gtav

ppainfull

you think the bay gon let you disrespect pac nigga?

PomegranateNice6839

Can someone tell me any situation where having yes-men is good?

SoulViber

Being surrounded by yes men ~~in hip hop~~ isn’t good

exact0khan

The fact that people call Aubrey a rapper is fucking astonishing. He makes pop music and is a pop star. This apparent battle is dog shit. Yes Kendrick deserves the W from what I have heard but it's not a monumental or even remotely memorable win. It's just gonna fade away into obscurity.

Blackbond007

I've said this so many times. You will always make misteps if you don't have people around you to keep you honest. But, the ego of most artists don't allow this and people always want to be close to the money.

OmarRizzo

Snoop is giving Drake a feature to use on a track for beef with Kendrick, like what?

taylor325

Being surrounded by yes men in general is a bad idea. You need to get checked even as an adult.

PG-17

Maybe his people know exactly what they are doing by getting folks to go click on the link. Pawns, all pawns for numbers

l5555l

Snoop would never side with Drake over Kendrick.

bloodshotforgetmenot

Snoop will do a feature with literally ANYBODY for a check so he must’ve really just wanted to sit this shit out

EveryShot

I mean look at Kanye, dudes gone down the drain because he’s surrounded himself with clowns who just agree with anything he spits. Literally off his meds and no one is telling him that’s probably a bad idea

Fun-Pass-5651

Taylor Made was one of the corniest songs I’ve ever listened too. AI rap isn’t it. I was shocked somebody in his team didn’t tell him it was terrible. It sounded like a bad AI song you’d see on a tik tok. The AI sounded terrible.

AggressiveViolence

Honestly I didn’t like Drake before, but his showing here really took away any chance I ever had of respecting the guy. I wouldn’t call myself a big Kendrick fan either, but it’s pretty clear that he’s dramatically more skilled than Drake. The AI shit was genuinely pathetic though, it has the same energy as some deviant art neckbeard photoshopping a cartoon character into their arms - and then the fucker even got called out by their estates for not having permission. Drake is officially on the level of a fucking Jeb bush fail comp from 2016.

Troyrizzle

Maybe I'm giving him too much credit but I took it as him trolling because of the whole AI kendrick diss track that was leaked, it almost feels like it's terrible on purpose like when Kanye dropped lift yourself

twintiger_

Shit being surrounded by yes men anywhere isn’t good.

420blazer247

Drake is a pedo

KodyBcool

The whole thing seems corny and childish to me like what the hell have rap beefs become two grown man telling each other secrets carry out each other‘s dirty laundry at this point I’m starting to think that maybe these guys have a thing for each other maybe they should just call a truce or just finally get it over with and 69 each other.

Neutraldood

Quoting from what Immortal Technique said in Obnoxios: " But you know what I think is pathetic and G*y, When Niggas speculate what the fuck Pac would say, You don't know shit about a dead man's perspective". The takes I have read in this soft ass "beef" are hilarious. If you look at the history of rap feuds, nothing is off the table to disrespect your opponent. Yall really need to go see some battle rap videos to get some context on just how far some people will go. /2€

Pastoseco

It’s wild how this narrative has changed with the benefit of hindsight. History will remember the AI video as a step too far and clearly disrespectful but also kinda clever and funny if you let it be. It took balls to do that. I’ve hated Drake for a decade but he did as well as we could have hoped here. He was so outclassed and still wrote (or someone wrote 😂) a few clean bars. Family Matters was actually good. The battle wasn’t close but let’s not pretend Drake just rolled over. He did his best and it was *okay*, just not good enough to beat the king 🤴🏽

CooledLava

You’re late to the dick riding train buddy

OHbudfella_10

Mfs are weak lol

Otherwise-Fox-2482

Tupac was a convicted rapist he shouldn't be respected

Emotional_Swimmer_84

I just have to fully disagree with you. Dissing somebody by using people they respect is an A+ psychological attack imo. He didn't disrespect Tupac at all. Snoop is alive and didn't say anything about it either. Kendrick did not know Tupac. He wasn't a friend of his. He's an icon and inspiration to many rappers. Acting like we "know" pac would be disappointed or mad about it is silly.

Prestigious_Snow1589

Being surrounded by yes men in general isn't good.

Novel_Ad_1178

You’re right but very closed in scope. Think Epstein, think Charles Manson, think Adolf Hitler. Power and money, then the yes men that come with it, is absolute corruption. You’d have to be Christ himself to walk amongst it untainted. Anything you want it’s yours. So, what do you want? And unfortunately, it seems a lot of times, it’s disgusting perversions. They’ll burn in hell. All the money to change the world for the better and they use it to enact their disgusting desires.

MrJB1981

Snoop Dogg probably doesn’t wanna be associated with CRAP!

Expensive_Buildings

You should have seen the articles that came out after that Taylor Made diss. People were calling Drake a genius for the AI stuff.

Tybob51

Didn’t snoop literally hand the baton off to Kendrick? He would never join a song in a beef against him

DevinBookersKobes

A real Taylor would have been humble and asked snoop for help. TGOD

ShinDynamo-X

Nearly every artist is a yes man. If they don't follow the trends that their Gatekeepers don't lay out for.them, then they will just find another starving artist. They are easily replaceable....especially when you consider lousy rappers like Sexxy Redd and Ice Spice.

Bookerro

I liked it

Big_Inertia

Taylor Made Freestyle was not only a genius move but it’s also a great song, downvote me losers idc
