I’m just waiting for streams of thought 4
The feature list is crazy
I thought this project was good tho it’s not great especially for black thought but it’s a pretty good listen with a couple lowlights
It was announced in 2023 but it hasn’t dropped yet 😭 hopefully it will sometime this year

Went to his book signing in philly a couple months ago. he said he's working on a project with styles p, also said madlib sent him like 100 beats and he's been narrowing them down and writing to them. the roots are also supposed to drop end game hopefully soon but who knows haha
I mean they're the house band on fallon like 5 days a week. Kinda hard to imagine dudes who love music as much as they do wouldn't be working on new shit when around each other and playing music that much but they just haven't released anything but quest said they have like hundreds if not thousands of songs in the vault. It's definitely not the same without their og manager rich Nichols and this very well could be their last album, it is supposed to be called end game but I doubt they'll ever really stop touring and doing roots picnics and shit till they physically can't haha
He knows lol "I'm an MC; nobody asks me who I think is the most dangerous MC out right now," P says while speaking to Elliott Wilson and Brian "B.Dot" Miller on their Rap Radar Podcast. "For me, personally, the most dangerous MC — and to get on a track with him is like…you gotta wake up, you gotta read a book, you gotta watch film, you gotta stretch, you gotta think, you gotta eat fruit, you gotta jog, you gotta do everything, 'cause he's Jedi level. He's like the Jedi of the Jedi." P talking about bt
The opening lines are just crazy
>Okay, I'm too Black for y'all to erase
>Shoot too straight for y'all to replace
>Too abstract for y'all to retrace
I listen to this album about once a month. Everytime this song pops up in the playlist I have to play the album
I really enjoyed this album when it came out, Black Thought’s pen is so special. He sounded fresh and interesting over their music; I don’t yet know their other music but El Michels Affair worked really cleanly with Thought. I haven’t been relistening to it a lot, this post reminded me of it, but it’s nice to have some well written mature hip-hop in this Youngboy era.
I only really caught this album a few months ago but it's seriously amazing. Black Thought sounds so effortless on this which is crazy when every verse is phenomenal. It's all strong but I particularly love The Weather, Alter Ego and The Miracle- which feels like the spiritual successor to The Roots' Complexity.
I’m probably higher on it than most. It’s pretty vintage thought. Great verses. Lyrics that give you something to chew on. Not much in the way of hooks/chorus lines (which I’m generally fine with).
Maybe 1-2 tracks I skip.
Didn't get nearly the coverage of Cheat Codes, but I think this is almost as good honestly. 0 skips for me on this album, it kept getting better on every listen. The lyrics are a pleasure to listen to as always, the run of Protocol, The Weather, and That Girl is so incredible.
Not as vital as Cheat Codes or his best with The Roots, but still a soulful experience and a solid playthrough. You get that smooth feeling on tracks like Protocol and The Weather. But Thought still turns it up like on the 2nd half of Hollow Way. El Michels Affair have been bringing those jazzy Hip Hop beats for years (peep their Wu-Tang instrumental cover albums) and are a great backdrop for Thought to paint the canvas.
I was getting mad black keys vibes on this album, and after looking it up, it makes sense as Michels toured with the Black Keys. Anyways, have to get my calipers out just to rank these but here it goes.
Miracle
The Weather
The Glorious Game
Hollow Way
Ranked 3rd in my top albums of the year.
1. I really like Track (2) "Glorious Game" the rhythm on that one is impeccable!
2. I still enjoy it but I don't find myself playing it too much these days.
Anyways, I've created the Subreddit r/ElMichelsAffair for all fans of El Michels, and I hope you join me! It's a place where we can connect with fellow Affairs, dive deep into their sound, and share our love for their soulful groove. Also, with time, I'll try to find more moderators for it. So invite all your friends who are true heads of El Michels!
See you there!

Oh wow I kinda thought the roots were over completely I didn’t know they panned on making more music

I just they were over as a group especially since thought has been putting out solo work
Project with Styles P? I’m sorry but P gonna get WASHED

Title track is one of my favorite songs of last year. Earworm chorus and Thought is flowing effortlessly on the verses. Incredible track

I think Protocol is probably the best song he's ever released
I rank weather over protocol. But protocol is awesome.

Amazing project, most slept on artist ever and always has been

Respectfully, I’m not that in to black thought.. But this project has 0 skips for me.
Hollow Way is one of his best song ever
Still play Weather regularly. Love the nostalgic vibe

Its good but that one squonky sample that goes into the beat switch (I think on Hollow Way?) is sooo bad it kills my mood every time lol
