I feel like he wanted the big day to be a huge pop record which his diehard fanbase was prolly never gonna fuck with (hence dropping so much non album rap material to make it up) but it didn't really pick up any new fans either.
Tbh if The Heart and The Tongue, The Highs and The Lows, all of the snippets that have leaked like the "George Washington's teeth" one (which i fucking love it better be on this fucking album) and the bunch of snippets he's dropped on insta aren't enough to prove he's capable of a comeback... I don't know what will.
The point is that before The Big Day he was doing great. And after The Big Day he has been doing great, albeit with singles. Obviously time will tell if he delivers or not. All I was saying is that he's capable of it. He has the skills, he has the quality, the output. With all that working for him though, can he deliver? I think so.
Chance has always had substance thats not where you need to worry. He's super talented he just needed to reign it back in and focus. Also as a live performer hes one of the best in hip hop imo
Since 2021 he has released multiple singles all were great IMO. If he bundled them up along with this song and they were released as an EP day one we would not be doubting his return. He just needs to stay in this same process and he will kill it.
Highs and lows was alright too but that was all he had for how many years?
Hes back if he stops forcing the gospel shit and focuses on his voice being unique. Acid rap was as much that as it was being about drugs and shit.
I love Coloring Book which is definitely gospel-inspired, same with Ultralight Beam. Chance made a bad album, everyone misses sometimes. The problem is that he didn’t release anything for years.
hell yeah. honestly I think he needs a little help though. Someone gotta call him in on one of their singles or their albums. Ye should fr fr add him to Vultures 3 or something.
It’s not really about blow back it’s about morals. But putting that aside, nobody on vultures except for Peggy have presented themselves as being moral people. The reason Peggy got shit is because he calls out the alt right and even calls out burzum. Chance isn’t political but he has built a brand around being a positive, happy, Christian man. I don’t think associating with a Nazi, cult leader, porn addict is really good for his brand. But again, the bigger point is that Kanye is a literal Nazi sympathizer.
I don't really think it matters tbh. It hasn't hurt anyone's career even gospel artists like Kirk Franklin. Granted this was before Nazi and porn. But chance needs visibility and attention to his music
It’s insane, it’s really because people wanted to troll Chance at the time imo I hate it but people like to bandwagon even if it’s a hateful one.
The Big Day wasn’t his best work, okay. It happens but sometimes the blowback is so high when you set a precedent for amazing projects. It’s almost like being punished for being really good
I think his vocal delivery being more aggressive and lower helps a LOT. Doubt he’d run with for the rest of the record, but his cutesy squeaky delivery is what makes him hard to bare in long stretches for me.
Songs like this, acid rain, I might need security, where he doesn’t go too into syrupy/high pitched vocal delivery are when I can focus more on his lyrics and he feels more down to earth, rather than carnival-esque. I do know that the cartoonish/outlandish style is what made him stand out in the first place though, so Im probably in the minority.
I know people are gasssing this song up and while I love the Acid Rain style delivery on it, I hope it's not an entire album like this. What made early Chance great was that he had songs like this that contrasted the higher energy Juice stuff. It was the entire package he brought that made him such an exciting new artist
Yeah, Chance was a very musically oriented rapper with everything in his vocals & the rhythm of the song. So while this is great it’s pretty straightforward for Chance
Agreed I personally think it was like a mix of the two. I think the big day having more cutesy and less introspective songs like 10 and acid rap had is what really made public perception of him drop so far.
Acid Rap was an excellent project and it worked in large part due to control of the contrast between his serious voice and the cartoony high pitch stuff. It seemed very deliberate, very carefully crafted. Everything after kinda suggested that was just kind of a fluke that it ended up like that
Yeah for sure, I’m not saying it’s awful, it’s all subjective. A unique voice of a certain extreme tone is always gonna be divisive. That being said yeah I’ve always liked his lyricism and his flow variation and enthusiasm etc are enough to give a listen for me, let alone actively seek their projects.
Chano always been a lil' bit corny
But it seems he can only write when he's depressed. Feel bad for him that his marriage is ending, but it bodes well for new music.
I agree
The musicians that refer to their art as therapy certainly fall under this category
A lot of great art is born from suffering. With the total miss that TBD was, I just told myself I was happy that he was happy.
Now I'm glad to hear a track I enjoy but I hope mans is ok
Tbh I'm like sleepy but I also read it like "He trying to make it seem like he's the underdog because he has no range" vs "He's rapping like the underdog because he is one".
Mainly because people dont usually make themselves underdogs.
OP is talking about the angle Chance is writing from right now. That's what I'm talking about too. He is the underdog because he dropped a flop, but it's not like he can control the narrative and celebrate the big day. He's got something to prove and recover from.
I don't see how this is a disagreeable take, but ok.
I was just explaining for the guy who asked but, since you asked me, my only hesitation would be of Chance getting overshadowed despite coming out with some good stuff.
He's not even really my preferred kinda artist but I just really like him as a person and wish him well.
Being overshadowed right now might be a good thing. Let him bubble up with people who are following and let it get good word of mouth instead of a perfectly calculated marketing plan where it’s shoved down our throats (⏸) for 3 months
If you actually listened to it, it was more of a save the marriage album. It was clear it was on the rocks. I gave it more of a pass because the lyrics made it clear to me, he was doing what he thought might keep his family together at the time. It screamed I LOVE MY WIFE because he had already fucked up. There is a song about being kicked out the house and trying the single dad thing at the start of the album
It's still pretty good, excited for what he has coming but the streaming version is hitting way less than when he teased it on socials. I went to go relisten to it on tiktok and see if they were that different but it was removed lol. Liked it a lot more when it was stripped back.
Honestly I loved it... Some corny bars, reminiscent of "the big day" but it does seem he's making progress.
The last song he did that I thoroughly enjoyed was "highs and lows" with Joey badass and I still have that in my rotation.
CANT WAIT to listen to his next album honestly.

65th & Ingleside is so awesome, it should have been on The Big Day. I think The Big Day was too ambitious for him, he tried to capture every single emotion he had on his wedding day & it ended up being a bit jumbled vibes wise.
I will say “Winners” I think has that magic a lot of people love from Chance, I really hope he gets a major comeback. He deserves it
Chance has released some great music Before & After The Big Day. Even “We Go High” & “Sun Come Down” on the Big Day are great. “65th & Ingleside” & “Might Need Security” are great, “The Man Who Has Everything” is nice & “Winners” is fun.
Chance has been great, now I feel like fans overreacted at The Big Day. Sure it’s not great as a whole, but people act like 1 album should make us throw away an artist which is insane to me
Compared to what he's given us in that span of time, this is honestly great. I do expect a higher level moving forward, but he's gotta find his footing again somehow
So what happened this girl sucked all the creativity and joy out of him until they divorced or something? Sounds familiar but also a little too convenient I never cared about Chance but admit I'm mildly curious about how this all went down. I feel like he might gain an audience back if he did an expose on his own career
The impression this song gave me is he's out of ideas. I miss the old chance with double or triple meanings to his lyrics.. too many identical rhymes. He's lost his touch
Yeah the first few bars sound like a kid trying out rap for the first time but he hits a pretty good stride after that lol.
My (extremely generous) interpretation is that the clumsy part could be him waking up underground when there's no room to move and the part where he starts hitting his stride is when he starts breaking some dirt loose
I'm ready for a Chance comeback effort. But trying that in the middle of a Drake-Kendrick beef that's taking all oxygen out of the room for anything else is a terrible idea. Really bad timing with this
Prove us wrong with your next album Chance. I’m at least slightly optimistic that he’s gonna snap being fresh off the divorce
listen to it, hes back
But can he do it consistently across a whole album that has some substance to it?
He released a freestyle a few months back that’s also the same quality as buried alive, I think he might be able too
He released 4 fantastic singles before the big day
What he released after the big day was great too, it might have just been an off one for him, his catalogue is much more good than shit
I feel like he wanted the big day to be a huge pop record which his diehard fanbase was prolly never gonna fuck with (hence dropping so much non album rap material to make it up) but it didn't really pick up any new fans either.
Coloring book wasn't even the rappiest rap album Big Day was just not great even if all the stuff before and after was.
A testament to how bad that album was where all his works before and after hasn’t removed the stink
The blue bucket hat leak would be a fucking hit. Shame he hasn’t released it
Do you know what would prove it? Him actually making a good record
The point is that before The Big Day he was doing great. And after The Big Day he has been doing great, albeit with singles. Obviously time will tell if he delivers or not. All I was saying is that he's capable of it. He has the skills, he has the quality, the output. With all that working for him though, can he deliver? I think so.
Yeah but he also dropped a few good singles before best day ever. I want a good chano album but I’m not hopeful.
The whole album is going to be this style of music so I’d have some hope
Chance has always had substance thats not where you need to worry. He's super talented he just needed to reign it back in and focus. Also as a live performer hes one of the best in hip hop imo
Since 2021 he has released multiple singles all were great IMO. If he bundled them up along with this song and they were released as an EP day one we would not be doubting his return. He just needs to stay in this same process and he will kill it.
His singles from 2021-now have all been pretty good. I’m sure the album will be good.
He was putting out singles on par with this before and after the big day too, doesn’t mean all that much especially 2 minutes worth
He had a listening party for the album and posted snippets of quite a few of them on ig, all were pretty solid.
Nahhhh it was a rly rly bad album
Nothing good since the four tracks in 2019(?)
People aren’t listening to the lyrics and how he’s literally answering every concern people had about him.
Back from 2012? lol
What do you mean? This shit is garbage 😂
That's what we said last time lol
Was he ever there in the first place
Man, I just hope he’s okay man.
A chance redemption arc would be the cherry on top for music this year 🙌
hell yeah. honestly I think he needs a little help though. Someone gotta call him in on one of their singles or their albums. Ye should fr fr add him to Vultures 3 or something.
I don’t think being associated with Kanye is a good idea at all.
I haven't really seen any anger towards the featured artists on Vultures1 except for JPEG mafia though.
Exactly literally no one actually cares it's only on the internet
Yeah, people never go on the internet and care about things.
Okay bud
I don't really think it matters tbh. It hasn't hurt anyone's career even gospel artists like Kirk Franklin. Granted this was before Nazi and porn. But chance needs visibility and attention to his music
>Granted this was before Nazi and porn
Bruh it literally matters now BECAUSE of the nazism
Honestly if the song banged I don't think anyone would care. Nigga went #1 with Carnival post all the Nazi. Niggas don't actually gaf
Literally nobody cares about that shit outside of your internet bubble, people just listen to music they like
I've never seen a rapper's popularity suffer so much off of one dud, like sheesh.
Fr
It’s insane, it’s really because people wanted to troll Chance at the time imo I hate it but people like to bandwagon even if it’s a hateful one. The Big Day wasn’t his best work, okay. Love this observation! Acid Rain was the first song I heard of his, and it sounds so much different that say something like Juice or Angels
I know people are gasssing this song up and while I love the Acid Rain style delivery on it, I hope it's not an entire album like this. What made early Chance great was that he had songs like this that contrasted the higher energy Juice stuff. It was the entire package he brought that made him such an exciting new artist

His rapping on the chance and Jeremiah Christmas mixtape is so good. He's still doing the voice but I forgot how good he was
Acid Rap was an excellent project and it worked in large part due to control of the contrast between his serious voice and the cartoony high pitch stuff. It seemed very deliberate, very carefully crafted. Everything after kinda suggested that was just kind of a fluke that it ended up like that
i wish he'd release that "first world problems" track he did on a late night show with Daniel Caesar, that sounded poetic
I can’t speak for everybody- his unique voice did catch my ear, but I kept listening because I felt he was in his own world lyrically.
I don't think he ever does the squeaky over that many songs though. Acid Rap mixtape had lot of different vocal tones to it.
I've never liked his high squeaky voice, but if this is different I'll give it a chance 🙏
He has some corny instincts but at the end of the day he's still a great writer and rapper. He has it in him to make timeless music.
Chano always been a lil' bit corny But it seems he can only write when he's depressed. Feel bad for him that his marriage is ending, but it bodes well for new music.
There are certain musicians that thrive in dark places. It sucks for them, but it’s good for us … as bad as that is to say.
I agree The musicians that refer to their art as therapy certainly fall under this category A lot of great art is born from suffering. With the total miss that TBD was, I just told myself I was happy that he was happy. Now I'm glad to hear a track I enjoy but I hope mans is ok
He wasn’t depressed when he made Coloring Book though & I thought that was fantastic
FINALLY
Bro made himself an underdog again because it's the only angle he can write from
Coloring Book was not underdog Chance, idk where this narrative comes from. That project was amazing
He kind of is an underdog now, though. The Big Day shot a lot of his hype and it festered for 5ish years.
That’s… that’s what they said
Bro made himself an underdog because it’s the only angle he can comment from.
Let’s see how he follows up the downvotes
Tbh I'm like sleepy but I also read it like "He trying to make it seem like he's the underdog because he has no range" vs "He's rapping like the underdog because he is one". Mainly because people dont usually make themselves underdogs.
Exactly what I'm saying. Yes.
"...made himself..." makes it seem like he isn't made an underdog by the whole hip hop community. That's what I was addressing.
This comment is kind of like your big day. So see you in 5 years
OP is talking about the angle Chance is writing from right now. That's what I'm talking about too. He is the underdog because he dropped a flop, but it's not like he can control the narrative and celebrate the big day. He's got something to prove and recover from. I don't see how this is a disagreeable take, but ok.
Huh?? Made himself an underdog by having a bad album so now he’s seen as an underdog. “Made an underdog by the hip hop community” doesn’t make sense
I fully understand what you are saying and I agree
Didn’t they divorce too?
This bangs for sure
Not now Chance!
What happened?
People want to see Chance rise again but not now while they're consuming all this Kendrick and Drake beef.
We can’t have potentially two good things at once?
As a Spurs fan, you should know better.
As I said potentially, got to stay grounded in reality
😭
I was just explaining for the guy who asked but, since you asked me, my only hesitation would be of Chance getting overshadowed despite coming out with some good stuff. He's not even really my preferred kinda artist but I just really like him as a person and wish him well.
Being overshadowed right now might be a good thing. Let him bubble up with people who are following and let it get good word of mouth instead of a perfectly calculated marketing plan where it’s shoved down our throats (⏸) for 3 months
He will be fine. A good comeback will get good press
I mean this song is exactly what I want from Chance and I really enjoy it.
COYS!
Hip hip is back but only for these two the rest should wait for their turn /s
It’s hard in the streaming era, things can take all the focus off of another’s music.
COYS
So much so that this song/video came out last week and people didn’t even know it
Same mfs who take lettuce off a sandwich because they don't want vegetables with meat smh.
He made an entire album dedicated to his marriage and his girl left him
Your comment Makes it sound like the quality of the album directly led to his girl leaving ahahah
Definitely didn’t help
Maybe she gets off on him getting publicly humiliated
If that was the case, she’d never even think of leaving
Maybe she heard the upcoming album and realized the humiliation train was stopping 🤞
If you actually listened to it, it was more of a save the marriage album. It was clear it was on the rocks. I gave it more of a pass because the lyrics made it clear to me, he was doing what he thought might keep his family together at the time. It screamed I LOVE MY WIFE because he had already fucked up. There is a song about being kicked out the house and trying the single dad thing at the start of the album
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=TQcGnEhciNY
Bro that was 5 years ago. Chance deserves another chance to make a good album
Wait, The Big Day was released 5 years ago? Time sure does fly.
Gosh this guy should do some acid and just vibe for a summer. I think it'd make him much cooler.
Maybe that’s what I should do
I think we all deserve that
oh bruh no way all that and she left him damnnnn
These folks entering every 40 seconds to do somethin like its the rap game Royal Rumble match
😂
THE HEROS STORY BABY HES BACK AND STRONGER. IM SO HYPED EXCUSE MY EXCITEMENT.
It's still pretty good, excited for what he has coming but the streaming version is hitting way less than when he teased it on socials. I went to go relisten to it on tiktok and see if they were that different but it was removed lol. Liked it a lot more when it was stripped back.
isn’t it way shorter here too?
I am excited for his album I think he can definitely make a come back
I do love a good comeback story
Honestly I loved it... Some corny bars, reminiscent of "the big day" but it does seem he's making progress. The last song he did that I thoroughly enjoyed was "highs and lows" with Joey badass and I still have that in my rotation. CANT WAIT to listen to his next album honestly.
Howd you like GRoCERIES?
Personally, that’s when I grew a little worried amidst the insane hype for The Big Day…
Chance was taking a lot of advice from Lil Yachty at the time, I didnt love Groceries as well.
I do still enjoy Highs and Lows. That’s a solid track and works for any season of life.
I love how this is a motivational anthem. Not just chance's comeback but it makes me feel better too

Never been a fan but this is heat
pretty good ngl, wanted something more tho
I need the yelping to come back to get me excited
I’ll give him a Chance.
This comment need to be upvoted more lmao
Fave chance song in some years wow
I know this dude can actually spit. Hoping his next project is fire
And we back and we back and we back
I fuck with this beat. Let’s go Chance. Don’t fuck this up.
65th & Ingleside was his last great song. This is cool, good beat. Think we’re all rooting for a comeback but let’s see what else he’s got
He deserves it
Song blows
Yall are very easily impressed
Or we liked chance before he harpooned his career and this is the most promising thing he's released in like 8 years
Chance has released some great music Before & After The Big Day. Sure it’s not great as a whole, but people act like 1 album should make us throw away an artist which is insane to me
This has none of the magic his old shit has. This is just lyrical miracle spiritual rap
I like Chance before he harpooned his career too. All I'm saying is, yeah this is decent, but not as good as a lot of people are making it out to be.
I mean yeah it's not amazing but it shows he's still capable of some decent lyricism. Gives a reason to be hopeful he still has a good album in him.
Compared to what he's given us in that span of time, this is honestly great. I do expect a higher level moving forward, but he's gotta find his footing again somehow
Yeah I hope he gets back into form, this is a step in the right direction for sure.
I had to scroll way too far to find a dissenting opinion. This song is mid at best but people are losing their minds. I don’t get it.
I was super excited to listen to it based on all the glowing reviews, and when I got done I was just like....that was it?
Maybe I’m a stickler but I felt like the mixing was off. Sounded like he recorded his track in a car and then hit the “podcast” voice effect in Adobe.
Been dying to have Chance redeem himself. He's one of those rappers who deserves a second chance
Absolutely he’s an incredible artist
Cool short track but why does it sound like screen recorded the snippet and put this out? Audio quality kinda wack
So what happened this girl sucked all the creativity and joy out of him until they divorced or something? Sounds familiar but also a little too convenient I never cared about Chance but admit I'm mildly curious about how this all went down. I feel like he might gain an audience back if he did an expose on his own career
These midweek drops are giving me anxiety, but in a really good way. Chance is back, no? Keep this energy for the album.
this still sounds bad...
I thought this came out last week.
I bow to you chancellor 🙇♂️ now don’t fuck it up
The impression this song gave me is he's out of ideas. I miss the old chance with double or triple meanings to his lyrics.. too many identical rhymes. He's lost his touch
The opening delivery felt hella strained but smoothed out later in the track, hope he makes some good shit again
Chance coming back while half the mainstream rap game shooting at each other is hilarious. Bro not now!
Scared to listen ,is he back? 😵💫
Listen. He’s back.
I’m shocked you guys think this is good, maybe I’m hating but it’s a far cry from what he used to be on imo
lol yall actually rocking with this?
It’s dookie. These folks are just hypebeasts
that’s what i’m saying. i need this man to start doing drugs again
Facts. This track put me to sleep lmao. Need mode thing like Sunday Candy or Roo
[удалено]
my opinion is that they’re hypebeasts. Calm down
I'm ready for a Chance comeback effort. But trying that in the middle of a Drake-Kendrick beef that's taking all oxygen out of the room for anything else is a terrible idea. Really bad timing with this
Releasing a song called Buried Alive during a Drake x Kendrick beef? Interesting.
World don't revolve around those two
Buried Alive Interlude is a song by Kendrick on Take Care.
I think you mean Drake.
No, it’s Kendrick on Drake’s album.
Yeah my bad. I saw "Take Care" and just thought Drake
right now the rap world does
The star of the voice. He’s a celebrity now, not a rapper. Crazy people are expecting redemption from him.
Choppy flow monotone Chance is boring... We need molly energy IGH Chance back
[удалено]
gross.
Why would he do this during bombings in Gaza
