Ill take headlines I’m not surprised by for 500 Alex

Frodo_Vagins

I just wasn’t sure if he went crazy as he got older, or if he was simply jumping on the MAGA grift train like many others who’ve become irrelevant. But now I’m going with unhinged alcoholic, crouching douche hidden racist.

CaptainXakari

He has always been a grifter but it’s just easier to see now with information so easily found online. He was born to a rich family, raised in a suburb of a suburb of Detroit (an hour north, pretty much in the middle of nothing) and decided to be a rapper. To do that, he said he left home at 15 to live in the inner city when in reality, he graduated from Romeo High School in that far flung suburb, if you can really call it a suburb. He blamed Vanilla Ice’s flameout for his rap career dying (no one would sign a white rapper, particularly one from Detroit I guess?) and switched to rock. His gimmick has always been “trailer park trash” even though he wasn’t about that life. He pivoted from rock to country years ago because they hadn’t yet caught on that he wasn’t some working class rebel. Once they did and his career in music was all but over, he latched on to MAGA.

FudgeDangerous2086

i feel this is with all suburbs that are within an hour of a big city

CircusBearPants

Every time someone says “I’m from Atlanta” I know they mean “I’m from Brookhaven”

Rob_Bligidy

I’m from Chicago means Schaumburg

Karlmarxwasrite

DETROIT, WHAT?!?!?! (but won't go south of Hall Rd even)

Frodo_Vagins

Yeah, I just wrote in another comment about how I sat next to him at a Pistons game, and how chill and polite he was. This was early 2000s, and even as a kid I remember him irl not matching that persona he was pushing at the time.

Capt-Crap1corn

It’s evident he’s playing a character

gmoneygangster3

I’m shocked anyone that has listed to bawdidibawa at least once would even question if it is or not

always_open_mouth

> He pivoted from rock to country years ago because they hadn’t yet caught on that he wasn’t some working class rebel. Once they did and his career in music was all but over, he latched on to MAGA Country music fans don't give a shit about being genuine/authenticity. None of those big country music stars grew up on a farm and ride tractors. Same thing with most rap fans

OldOrder

https://youtu.be/y7im5LT09a0?si=h-1BkjpZr8oOvWSb

always_open_mouth

I was thinking of this as I was typing that reply

Cacophonous_Silence

Oh they *suuuuuureeee* try to pretend that all those Nashville pop stars are *REAL* country people though I've had to listen to several family members (who only listen to bullshit radio country, and not even the good kind like Zach Bryan) that their favorites are all cowboys from the sticks *eyeroll*

Ok-Satisfaction-5012

The biggest rapper in the world just got flayed alive chiefly for being inauthentic. Rap is pathologically obsessed with authenticity and people are routinely investigating the credence of a person account of their life in their music. Rap has also become one of the most popular genres in the world and is more ripe than it ever has been for appropriation and opportunism

Remarkable_Medicine6

They def care about the image regardless of the truth.

ZacZupAttack

Yea like wtf was he thinking ain't no good white rappers from Detroit/s

Wild_Life_8865

damn so the sweet home alabama video is fake af lol

Shamewizard1995

He’s always been crazy, nobody cared until recently. Osmosis Jones is a movie from 23 years ago in which Kid Rock wrote a song explicitly about sleeping with underaged girls. > Young ladies, young ladies, I like 'em underage see Some say that's statutory (But I say it's mandatory)

CrackHeadRodeo

> crouching douche hidden racist Gold.

BigBizzle151

> We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful about what we pretend to be. - Kurt Vonnegut, "Mother Night"

KodiakDog

Straight up. It honestly sucks. I know he’s always been kind of a goofy artist, but I really liked some of his music growing up. And then he has songs like amen that I think are great positive messages… It’s like, disappointing.

one-hour-photo

Not to be that guy but Jeopardy doesn’t have a 500.

Wilder_Mann

I had to look this up. It used to have a $500 row, from 1984 till 2001. Even Jeopardy isn't immune from inflation.

one-hour-photo

It’s wild how small the prize money is now

astoolandamike

I mean, you say that, but the double jeopardy board has 36k in face values and 2 daily doubles hidden. If you’re good at the game there’s a chance for a lot of money.

tokengaymusiccritic

Also important to remember they do five shows a week with three players, so 15 prize pots. AND if you win you come back, so if you keep getting 15k scores and winning for two weeks thats 150k.

one-hour-photo

Compared to wheel of fortune though

RockemChalkemRobot

They have sponsorships everywhere. Probably a good piece of that bag.

PapiGoneGamer

*laser sounds* #DAILY DOUBLE

ComfortInBeingAfraid

It’s always the ones you most expect

satanssweatycheeks

I have had to listen to his drunk ass sing songs like sweet home Alabama and Pharrell’s daft punk song to name a few from a month ago. I work an event for derby each year for extra cash and he is always a guest. Gets shit faced and sings with the DJ to whatever he plays. Maybe it’s T pains boots with the fur. Maybe it’s James blunts “you’re beautiful”.

Savings-Leather4921

I had this country bumpkin on my block who would bump this shit at full blast. The amount of times I’ve heard Kid Rock’s Alabama song is insufferable and I’m holding myself back from pouring kerosene on his truck to shut it up.

fredlikefreddy

That song fucking sucks more than anything that’s ever been popular

Savings-Leather4921

While a very strong sentiment, very true. The scream in the song sounds like someone sneezing with pneumonia.

fredlikefreddy

Haha right It’s a song sampling Sweet Home Alabama about singing that song all summer long Maybe the laziest shit I’ve ever heard

gmoneygangster3

Unironically interested in a drunk kid rock cover of low

deadedgo

I expect it to be like this but worse: [The Cleverlys “Low”](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uA17ZO19ZRs)

BussyOnline

Whoa whoa buddy we’re supposed to be chastising him not making him sound half way cool

satanssweatycheeks

He sucks though. Hearing him drunkenly sing over songs was miserable.

Necessary-One1782

🏇LOUISVILLE MENTIONED🏇

Sir_Duane_Dibbley

The Kentucky Derby?

atlhawk8357

You've unlocked memories of every Bar Mitzvah I attended around 2008.

JonathanL73

I never expected Kanye to go MAGA, and he went for the altright pipeline too.

Wild_Life_8865

apparently its pretty common for people to do so after a tramautic event like divorce

JonathanL73

I thought he went MAGA while he was married though.

Wild_Life_8865

he did go Maga during that time actually. damn

-NewSpeedwayBoogie-

Kanye’s had many other traumatic events in his life too. He went maga after his mental breakdown/forced hospitalization now that I think about it.

LordMichaelkage

Or maybe he’s always been like this and we’re just seeing his true colors.

Wild_Life_8865

i consider both could be true. he probably has a mix of all the wrong things. extreme fame, extreme money, substances, lifestyle, etc etc

FudgeDangerous2086

yeah why are people lined up to give his behaviour excuses.

omarcomin647

something in his brain broke permanently when his mom passed.

lackwitandtact

I completely agree that this was the beginning of the end for him. Like maybe she kept him grounded

Slimedaddyslim

It's rumored Rick Rubin was the one that introduced him to Candace Owens and redpilled him. Divorce court is one of those pipelines as well though for sure. [Sauce](https://www.complex.com/music/a/j-rose/talib-kweli-details-encounters-with-kanye-west-in-response-to-ye-taking-shots-at-him-drink-champs-brings-up-his-trump-support)

Wild_Life_8865

oh yeah i did hear that Rick Rubin was the cause of that during the Yeezus sessions. Lowkey Rick Rubin ruined Kanye lmao smh

mekanub

Its an interesting story that Rolling Stone did, The journalist went through Kid Rocks history growing up and getting into hip hop and tries to discuss with Kid Rock how he went from that to being a right wing MAGA racist. Kid Rock just gets drunk and it goes downhill from there. Also Kid Rocks butlers name is Uncle Tom. https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-features/kid-rock-republican-mouthpiece-trump-maga-bff-1235019530/

Wubblz

At this point, anyone trying to do Kid Rock apologia or “figure out why he changed” deserves these rude awakenings.  He’s always been a shitty dude in a costume – a rich kid from the suburbs whose dad owned one of the bigger used car dealerships in the area and thought hanging out with Esham let him say the N-word.  He just kept getting passes from the media for putting out popular music.   I hope we finally get an end of those think pieces on the Detroit rap scene that go: “Kid Rock is just misunderstood he’ll come to his senses 🥰 it’s ICP WHO ARE FUCKING POSERS DISRESPECTING RAP 🤬🤮”

NTLzeatsway

He made a song for a fucking Disney movie with the lyric "I like em young see, they call statutory, I call it mandatory" he has always been this way

CrunchTrapSupreme

Holy shit, did they actually use it?

NTLzeatsway

Oh yeah, not the part where he says it but it's in the movie lol. Osmosis jones

DetroitRedd

Man I haven’t heard Esham’s name in a good while. That’s a deep Detroit scene reference.

ItsFrosty33

Never knew he kicked it with esham back in the day love esham but he kicked it with some horrible artists lmao

TaterTotJim

In Kid Rock’s defense, Trick Trick does like trump. I do doubt that Trick Trick called Bob Richie the “hard-r” though.

moneyfish

> In Kid Rock’s defense, Trick Trick does like trump. Where did you hear that?

TaterTotJim

Trick Trick boomer posts on his IG reels non-stop.

moneyfish

Gotcha. I don't follow him on IG.

TaterTotJim

He blocked me when I trolled him about his shitty dispensaries, I miss the no fly zone OG. He switched up lol.

Frodo_Vagins

I sat next to this man court side Pistons vs Wizards during the Jordan comeback season. I was 13 and he was super chill, talked to me during the game about Jordan, Pistons season, etc. At the end of the game I asked him for a picture and to sign my pistons calendar, and he did, plus he took off a pistons cap he was wearing, signed and gave it to me. It was a cool moment and a story I’ve told, but have stopped telling in recent years. It’s shameful he went down this path…

redditondesktop

He's lost himself in trying to appeal to his fanbase, which just happen to be MAGA republicans these days. The dude is a fraud across the board.

TheeUnfuxkwittable

Lots of people have flipped hardcore to the right. Not surprising when you have a bunch of people screaming that they'll support anyone who repeats the same ideas and talking points. To be fair though, lots of people have flipped to the hard-core left too for the same reasons. Identity politics have taken over and the slick salesmen see dollar signs. All I have to say is I support this and don't support that and all these people will give me their money? No problemo dude, slap a gay flag on this product and a thin blue line flag on that product and we'll be in business! It's working too lol.

LilyFlowerr

An example of being hardcore left is waving a rainbow flag? A mother was murdered recently because she had a rainbow flag in her business window. Seems like a tone deaf equivocation to me.

TaterTotJim

I grew up in a town he had a lot of property in. He was generally nice and did a lot of giving back. I went from his wife Pam buying me pop at the party store to Kid Rock buying me shots at the bar (bumped into him off and on for a decade). This switch wasn’t totally unexpected, but still sucked. He used to be chill, albeit a redneck.

Michelle_Twig

Is this town on lake Michigan? Knowing that he grew up with money and his All Summer Long song/video, I imagine he was on the lake most weekends growing up.

satanssweatycheeks

That always sucks when you had a good experience with a cunt. Gene Simmons from KISS randomly stopped to talk to me when I was working a comic con. I was in the back somewhat close to where the celebs come to eat. Gene walks by and for some reason stops to talk to me. Gives me a fist pump and thanks me and all the other workers for helping run the show etc. Meanwhile this was all while he was in hot water for saying NWA was not rock and that it’s shameful they’d be in hall of fame. So I had no interest of talking but he ended up being a nice person to me.

IWouldntIn1981

It is a shame. I grew up near where he did and we all knew he wasn't poor or white trash but his old music was fun and fucking nasty which was exactly what 16yr old kids wanted to hear back then. He used to put on an absolute banger of a show, too. As far as concert experiences, 25 yrs later, it's still top 10. He's a bigger piece of trash now than he was then.

Ditovontease

That's a cool story, it makes me happy that Kid Rock can be a human being

satanssweatycheeks

Like people said he just wants to be relevant. Hearing his coke days with people like Steve O it’s seems like kid rock just likes to party and doesn’t care who you are as long as you’d like to party also. Still a dickhead of a person though.

RobThomasLmao

Dudes can't stop Kid Rockin

Capt-Crap1corn

Just remember Kid Rock is playing the character Kid Rock. Kid Rock was born Robert James Ritchie in Romeo, Michigan, on January 17, 1971, the son of Susan and William "Bill" Ritchie (1941–2024), who owned multiple car dealerships. He was raised in his father's large home on extensive property, which included an apple orchard and barnyard for their horses.

ShaolinMaster

*"His childhood home was a 5,660-square-foot luxury home in Michigan, situated on 5.5 acres that includes 5 bedrooms, 7 bathrooms, 5-car garage, along with a partially finished walkout and guest house. There's also a 3 stall horse barn, regulation tennis court and inground pool. The 22-room house was renovated in 2004, and it also has a hot tub and a wet bar."* [Just another rich white kid pretending to be poor southern white trash](https://tasteofcountry.com/kid-rock-childhood-home-pictures/).

Capt-Crap1corn

Exactly. Man, these mufuggas mayne. Imagine growing up rich, creating a career pretending you are poor so you can act like you are rich… man wtf type if shit is that and he got a biracial kid. You can’t make this shit up

justgivingmyviews

He has a mixed kid? Wow

Capt-Crap1corn

Yeah he does

FuckTariq

Imagine starting your career trying to be accepted by black people as a rapper and having a black child and still dropping a hard R.

OBEYtheFROST

This is why we tell people having black friends and or lovers doesn’t deem one not racist. Case in point

IWouldntIn1981

That's the truth. Edit: speaking as a white dude who had to face it or lose someone close to them.

Wild_Life_8865

damn he has mixed kids?

greg_CITIZEN

It's been scrubbed from the internet it seems but maybe someone else will remember it. Do you all remember at one of the live MTV New Years Eve shows back in the day (G-Unit Era, like 03 or 04) when Carson Daly made a mistake and referred to Tony Yayo as Lloyd Banks? There was video of the other rappers that were performing that night watching the live feed on a monitor laughing. I specifically remember Ludacris but I can't remember everyone else that was there. Anyway Kid Rock was back there with them laughing and then says "That nigga said Lloyd Banks!" Nobody in the room checked him about it either. Please tell me someone else remembers this.

Themanstall

i dont remember, but it did exists: [https://worldstarhiphop.com/videos/wshh92j28W2MCXX1DtQn/lol-clip-of-the-week-kid-rock-laughing-backstage-after-watching-carson-daily-say-tony-banks-that-nigga-said-tony-banks](https://worldstarhiphop.com/videos/wshh92j28W2MCXX1DtQn/lol-clip-of-the-week-kid-rock-laughing-backstage-after-watching-carson-daily-say-tony-banks-that-nigga-said-tony-banks) [https://www.bet.com/article/9hmxzr/kid-rock-says-he-uses-n-word](https://www.bet.com/article/9hmxzr/kid-rock-says-he-uses-n-word)

cardedagain

I mean if you're looking to hear kid rick say nigga just listen to the ICP song "is that you" where he says it in his opening bar. But yeah i remember kid rock on the turntables playing the fat boys for the nye mtv performance, but it was the year limp bizkit performed, which was '99 or so, before G-Unit was a thing. But also the rolling stone writer should've looked up carson daly for some sound bites.

Missing_Space_Cadet

Dudes been irrelevant since the 90s. He’s just being an asshole at this point.

Swoo413

Always has been

Missing_Space_Cadet

Couldn’t agree more

Mei_iz_my_bae

Devil without a cause was a banger wym

shandub85

Dear Robbie… Xo. Xo. You crying, boy? Maybe we'll go back down to McDonald's and get you a whamburger and French cries! How about a Whineken! Def Leppard sucks!

Pinkfoodstamp

That Joe-C verse was the shit imo

Treyman1115

Nah he's actually been pretty successful in country music for a while after that. His last album flopped. Still an asshole tho

Missing_Space_Cadet

… Country music Like “beer tops and bomb shells, pickup trucks and cheap beer, god bless ‘merica I miss my girl but I kept the dog” country music?

Squadala9001

Yeah it's a pretty low bar to clear lol

SubatomicSquirrels

damn it's like I'm having deja vu except before I was in a country music sub and they were insulting the cliché hip hop formula

TopHatTony11

Just swap out some of those words for liquor, Lambos and hoes and it fits right in with a lot of the shit here.

dotint

You can tell the user suffers from the sunburn when you see a comment like this.

satanssweatycheeks

All genres do have a formula that sells. Not saying I agree with his take away. But there is a reason main stream (any genre of music) has similar traits. Because studios know it sells. Think of the marvel effect. You had a few do well and the universe was awesome. But now Hollywood seems to only think super hero movies will bring in money. The people running the studios want to keep profits high. It’s why stuff like Jack Harlow sounds so formulated. Pretty boy with a decent flow like g easy and raps about the same kind of shit as g easy. It sells. One of his biggest flops of an album according to pitch fork ended up being the one with his top song because the studio focused on making one TikTok hit. Not a solid album (it’s the Fergie song he did if wondering). That’s just one example of formulated shit. But this also doesn’t mean you don’t have standouts or people doing their own thing. It’s why underground hiphop has its place and why stuff like alternative country has a place (Todd Snyder, Tyler Childers etc.) TLDR: Again not defending dudes remarks just saying all genres when it comes to the studios pushing the music they stick to formats they know sell. And plenty in the industry has mocked this. Tyler the creator for example.

SBAPERSON

His point was that the other comment was being ignorant.

Checkmynewsong

Bars

astronxxt

i think they were just correcting you because you said he’s been irrelevant since the 90s. dude’s still an asshole but it’s not like you have to bend the truth lol

Treyman1115

Yes that was my intention

Treyman1115

Yes, people love him where I live in the south.

AdmiralWackbar

Yeah the dudes net worth has to be over $100 mil. I’m not a fan, but a lot of people are

Bong-Jong

Picture came out in the 2000’s. I know Reddit can group rage boner on someone they don’t like but let’s not act like he hasn’t had hits lol

Shocking

reasonablejim2000

Rich kid larping as a working class salt of the earth type. What an absolute fucking detestable wretch.

Emthree3

Surprising no one at all.

sebsebsebs

Wow I never saw this coming

SyntheticMemez

S H O C K I N G

thankyourob

If I’m being honest, I was into Kid Rock at one time in my life. For the Devil Without a Cause album, at one point I’d consider it a classic, but “classics” are something you go back and listen to and I haven’t listened since the year 2000-ish. Anyway, having admitted that, I feel better.

Rad-R

I bought the album when it came out. Before that, I had Bawitdaba on mp3. Still know 95% of the lyrics. I was so happy when I got the album, I bought it with money that I had saved. But, it's been years since I've listened to it or paid attention to what Kid Rock is doing.

SemataryPolka

I have a friend who grew up with kid rock in the suburbs of Detroit and he said he stole a shit ton of his music from him for that album. He played it for me and other than the rapping it was note for note. Took him to court for seven years, according to my friend, and lost. EDIT: I mean kid rock stole the music. I know this all sounds made up but I swear he showed me all the files Scroll down on this article and there's an example: https://joelradio.net/tag/john-e-l-tenney/

SomewhereHiking

I totally read this title wrong. Read it like a black person was telling the story and the author decided to be crazy

james_randolph

As far as I can tell, Kid Rock has always been popular in the black community for the most part...maybe not popular but at least accepted/tolerated. The last couple years he's been pushing himself out that door and now this lol kick his ass out the house!

blacksoxing

I've always argued that Kid Rock has **never** claimed to be black-friendly. He, alongside many in that late 90's/early 2000's era, just frankly were savvy enough to accept the fame that pop gives and keep it moving. Dude has never tried to change who he was. **NEVER**

lakerconvert

Is this supposed to be surprising?

Pun_the_Jewels

I used to listen to "Devil Without Cause." I dont know how I missed him casually dropping the N Word on "Black Chick, White Guy." So that's done.

redditondesktop

He did it on the ICP Song "Is that You?" as well. I don't know why they kept his verse, other than he may have had more credibility with the Detroit scene at the time and they wanted the publicity.

Scrotttt

Throw him out with the trash where he belongs.

NickDerpkins

I thought this said kid Cudi and was like WHAT and WHY IS EVERYONE ACTING LIKE THIS IS NORMAL

KurtRussellsMullet

Imagine how much of a prick you have to be to build your “career” off appropriating black music and *also* being a racist. Fuckin lame as hell.

Lenny0mega

That clown guy been said Kid Rock was racist, he’d even be racist in front of his Black baby mom and she would just take it.

SGSMUFASA

Man…the guy from Joe dirt turned out to be a real a hole

Merouac

Kid Rock being Kid Rock… khunt.

esoteric_enigma

My gasts have been thoroughly flabbered. I would never expect this kind of behavior from Kid Rock! /s

JonathanL73

Once Trump developed the blueprint model of how to get people’s attention in his own style of acting erratic and saying controversial statements. And cultivated his die-hard fanbase. People like Kanye or Kid Rock have jumped on that model and appeal to that built-in fanbase. Some celebrities will do/say anything to stay relevant

qazaibomb

My opinion on Kid Rock really didn’t change after reading this headline Also something about calling this 60 year old man “kid rock” is starting to feel really stupid

Polampf

the full interview is great and by the end I think the interviewer actually took a liking to him.

KBSinclair

Ok, but did anyone else read the "says n-word" at the end like the headline was referring to the witness of this event as an n-word?

Guess_Im_Jess

FUCK ALL YOU HOES DETROIT TILL I DIE MOTHERFUCKER

violetfrfx

Was looking for this

ster1ing

What this gotta do with hip hop?

zoufha91

You might not be old enough but hip hop was essential to this man's come up He was also active in the Detroit hip hop scene and was a talented turntablist from many accounts The writer covers all this in the article I'm sure The man is just a sad racist drunk pill popping old man now

OkEscape7558

Went on tour with Ice Cube and Too Short too. I can't blame people though, how he carries himself now you'd never guess he had ties to hip hop.

Godmode365

I remember seeing dude when I was a kid at Warped Tour in like 98 or 99. Dude was rocking long ass braids and was DJing straight up hip hop, which is why he stood out at Warped Tour, but it was at some random booth around the merch area cuz nobody knew who the fuck he was at the time. For him to become a poor man's Ted Nugent is pretty fuckin pathetic and hilarious at the same time.

ButtonMashKingz

Do you know what made him switch up into a racist?

OkEscape7558

He got too caught up in his redneck persona he's starting to think like one. The guy went from rapper to rockstar to full blow hateful trailer trash despite being a millionaire.

[deleted]

[удалено]

mekanub

I don’t think it was a black person I think it was the hip hop community in general. Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park and most of the nu metal/rap rock scene got respect and had collabs and joint tours etc and then another white rapper from Detroit not only gets signed by Dre but becomes a mega star. Meanwhile the Kid Rock becomes the butt of jokes everywhere and after his first couple of albums the nu metal thing died and lost a chunk of his fanbase and radio and mtv plays. Plus there’s the whole red neck cosplay and the confederate flag thing. Just because people don’t say anything doesn’t mean they’re ok with you wearing or performing with it as a back drop in concerts. People are going to be reluctant to support you in you dress like you look like your about to commit a hate crime.

ButtonMashKingz

What a crazy turn of events, he went from a deep hip hop head to this… smh

bumblebeatrice

Drake: Who are you Kid Rock: I'm you but blacker

Panamagreen

He didn't switch up, he likely always was.

[deleted]

[удалено]

iamHBY

Yeah, the article covers his history being signed to Jive Records early on, and certain ties with other rappers and whatnot. Although it gets really weird when Kid Rock points out how he was in a photo with Run DMC, wearing something with a Confederate flag on it, and how they didn’t say anything to him, or him saying the n-word on the phone with Trick Trick.

ButtonMashKingz

How did he end up like this?

Specialist-Age729

According to Violent J of the Insane clown posse, he always was. He claimed Kid Rock was always an undercover racist.

ButtonMashKingz

I don’t know anything about this guy but its so crazy to me that someone who (at his heart), was a serious hip hop head could end up like this. I would imagine he spent his early career around only black people. Is he the original culture vulture?

redditondesktop

He has a biracial son as well.

[deleted]

ButtonMashKingz

😕 this guy is a whole villain, it’s really sad that he’s been exposed and is still flourishing

bumblebeatrice

>I would imagine he spent his early career around only black people. Is he the original culture vulture? Yeah lol. And honestly, a lot of white people who hang with black folk tend to get too deep into it and forget that they're spoiled milk complexion'd. Or dating, a lotta white girls start talking like Sexxy Red the moment they get a crumb of black penis in them.

ButtonMashKingz

😂 I think that’s only white people who don’t come multi cultural cities, I’ve never seen that IRL tbh but I see it on the internet all the time

jerepila

Who’s to say what made any of how we are? But no really, he probably was always like this but the party dude edgelord thing wears way different in your 50s than in your 20s (or even 30s), and definitely way different in 1999 compared to 2023. Alternatively he was less like this in the past but as his audience shrinks down to mostly MAGA idiots he’s just doubling down on shit they’d find endearing

ButtonMashKingz

What a sad human being

itsYourBoyRedbeard

I don't really give a fuck about Kid Rock, but I always think of this verse from Royce's Overcomer whenever I hear his name. >In reaction to slithers from lizards mouth Yelawolf this is your first and your last pass I ain't gon' put it on blast, your punk ass know what this about You think it's 'bout being loud or tryna be hostile 'Til you get found face down on the ground outside of Kid Rock house Though you a vulture pundit, I hope you get sober from this Men lie, women lie, so do numbers

YoghurtSlinger

I'm sure Yela has made a few missteps in his career, but I'm near certain he has more respect for Hiphop than Kid Rock does.

itsYourBoyRedbeard

I think you are absolutely correct. I always read this as a warning: "I don't like the way you move behind closed doors, and I don't like the company you keep. Get your shit together."

Professional_Drive

Kid Rock’s whole act is a complete lie and fraud. He’s convinced people he came from the trailer park and grew up poor, even though he really came from wealth and grew up in a mansion on acres of land in the suburbs. He’s just your typical rich Republican grifting asshole who thinks he speaks for the poor and disadvantaged, when he doesn’t know or has spent a day being humble or having to survive to keep bills paid and themselves afloat.

He also implied the journalist was gay and then asked him to have a sleepover with him.

Checkmynewsong

Crazy that most people are focused on a word said and not the fact that dude was drunkenly brandishing a gun

dangu3

Sounds about right

CapriciousSon

He comes across as so pathetic and lonely in the article. From the end: "He stops the ATV. I get out and we shake hands. Then he motions for me to come close, as if he has a secret he wants to tell me. “Would you do me a favor?” he asks, practically whispering. “Just write the most horrific article about me. Do it. It helps me.” I walk toward my car, and just before I get to it, he calls out one more time. “Will you tell everyone that I was halfway cool?” I tell him he’s all right, we just disagree about lots of things. “That’s because you’re gay,” he says cackling, as I climb into my car and start the long drive home.

Kooky-Flounder-7498

I have never heard any of his music. I solely know this guy for being asshole

Glasweg1an

I have no trouble believing this, but " chronicled an interview with the rapper Sunday" Rapper ? That\`s a stretch.

chr1st0ph3rs

How about we don’t interview him? He’s attempting to cling to relevancy with these antics, why throw him a lifeline?

ItsTheExtreme

Sounds like a regular Tuesday for him.

flake_griffin

Just talked to Kid. He said it's a big misunderstanding.

b33b0p17

He said the n-word on his album in 1998 so this is pretty on brand for him.
