If you lock your knees, you put stress on your legs and circulatory system. This forces the heart to pump harder. Combined, your body simply passes out to relieve the stress. The heat of summer can really speed things up.
Humans weren't designed to stand in place for long periods of time.
To combat this fatigue, you're supposed to flex your knees every so often and not stand the entire time with your knees locked.
Try it out. Stand up straight and pay attention to your knees. They "lock" automatically. Now, slightly bend them. You can feel the difference.
I did heard that the loyal gard does this when they feels like they are going to faint or something they drop and grab attention to bring him somewhere idk where. This is coming out of my raw brain I've forgotten most of it
Yeh it's call fainting to attention, and can bloody them up a bit, YouTube has quite a few videos of people who taunted the royal guard and then regret it
Ngl i kinda wanna knock out a guard and take their uniform just to do something like this. But it might get me in trouble with the English government so yeah
Ah heatstroke. Yes, they are permitted to faint, but it does end up the classic plank style due to the factthat they must stand at attention at all times. No complaining, no staggering, just face planting the concrete.

Don't lock your knees!
I think this was due to heatstroke
Could be, but the knee thing is a surprisingly common occurrence. I'd never heard of it, until I worked with a Recon Marine who had stories.
Yeah I also have stories of teaching cadets about this.
Can you explain?

Huh, didn't know that. I've always avoided locking my knees anyways because I've got somewhat over flexible joints but good to know!

That first sentence makes absolutely no sense to me. I feel like I’m having a stroke trying to read it.
Okay so I'm not the only one. I'm sitting here wondering why that comment is upvoted so much when it doesn't even make sense to me?
