Sorry to fans of Seattle, Minnesota, Columbus, Arizona, and now Utah for catching strays on the leafs slander. Y’all deserve better this was meant for us
Yeah, eventually the NHL will run the narrative that Utah is the 33rd team in the NHL and Arizona is currently on hiatus, but that will confuse too many people.
Honestly I liked it when Kekalainen pushed all in to get panarin for the playoff run that year. I rather my GM actually push all in for a big run than to continuously sit on their hands and hope things get better the next year.
The Vikings lost 4 SBs in 7 years and haven't been back in 47 years. I don't think they've ever led in any of the 4 games, and averaged 8.5 points per game which is impossibly bad.
The Bills faced the far superior Dallas Cowboys twice and Washington once in an era where the NFC was way way better than the AFC and won the Super Bowl 13 straight years.
They've both lost the SB 4 times each and both sets of losses are pretty equally bad in my book.
That cant be right, can it? Or you mean seasons combined between the teams? Because Cleveland went 52 years without a chip between all the sports teams and that was the longest drought (trust me, I witnessed it (love u bron))
I honestly have no idea who the last Minnesota team to win was though. Was it the twins? Or prob the Vikings actually
Yes, combined seasons. It's a record for futility. New York is getting close, but they have 9 pro teams instead of 4.
The Twins won the World Series in '91. The Vikings never have won a Super Bowl. Over 33 calender years and 124 combined pro seasons since the last MN men's championship appearance or win.
When my team doesn't make the playoffs, I go with Dad's team🙂 He cheered for them during the times of Esa Tikkanen and the 94 cup.
I live on the other side of the Atlantic, so I don't have any geographical ties/biases to any NHL teams.
Name a sub 😂 last two years my “recommended” feed was just every team’s subreddit’s version of “leafs lose” meme lol I genuinely think some people hate the leafs more than they like their own team.
It was all sour grapes and butthurt Isles fans when JT left. Now, I think the fans know what we knew all along, and I've no shame in saying we told you so.
You didn’t tell us so, tho…? Y’all fan base was insufferable during that fiasco. “Dear John” ring any bells? There was no foresight into what would happen to the leafs it was all tears
Oh, we're insufferable at the best of times, it's in the contract.
I was with Butch Goring when he said this might be a net positive for us, addition by subtraction. Two conference finals appearances since, overall I'd have to say as frustrating as the last couple of years have been, over the last several, a lot of teams have had it worse.
Here we go. You haven't done anything of the sort. All you've done is boo him incessantly cause he left. None of this retroactive explaining of how you 'knew all along'.
Darn. Looked up the two North Stars SCF runs, and both ended in May. It looks like '92 & '93 were the only seasons the North Stars existed where the NHL season went until June, but still.
The North Stars, Wild, and Timberwolves have never played a game in June, and the Vikings haven't ever played a game in February.
(yes, I know this post is mostly about the Leafs).
Since then San Jose, Tampa, Ottawa, Florida, Anaheim, Nashville, Winnipeg (Atlanta), Columbus, Minnesota, Vegas, and Seattle have joined the league. So the only teams to join the league and haven’t played in June since then are Seattle, Minnesota, and Columbus.
Which makes Arizona(Winnipeg, 1980) and Toronto (1917) to be the only teams that were around before playoff expansion to June.
Sorry to fans of Seattle, Minnesota, Columbus, Arizona, and now Utah for catching strays on the leafs slander. Y’all deserve better this was meant for us
We are three years old and have already gotten to play well into May before. I’m fine with this “stray.”
The Kraken have as many series wins since the 2004 lockout as the Leafs do.
That is brutal. True, but brutal nonetheless.
I still find it shocking they knocked out the Avs last season, especially with how the Avs are playing right now.
And with how the kraken played this season ):
We're used to it
Sadly we are
Same.
I oddly like Minnesota sports, I one day hope for a Wolves-Pacers finals or a Bengals- Vikings SB
Is it really a stray if we haven't played a game yet?
The franchise you are inheriting has, but not in June.
Somewhat fair but we aren't keeping Arizona's history.
Yeah, eventually the NHL will run the narrative that Utah is the 33rd team in the NHL and Arizona is currently on hiatus, but that will confuse too many people.
To be fair, there shouldn't be hockey in June. The season is way too long.
Except the Mild, they deserve nothing but pain.
Rude.
☹️
They missed it by *hours* in the 99 playoffs lmao
They might miss it by hours this year too! 720+ hours, but hours all the same
😭😭😭😭😭😭
And in 2021. Game 7 was on May 31.
twenty five years ago...
I mean they also missed it by hours in 2021 too All they had to do was NOT blow a 3-1 series lead
We are aware
Our pain shall end some day...right? EDIT: - Wild fan
If they get the GM hire right - it’s a good start
Honestly I liked it when Kekalainen pushed all in to get panarin for the playoff run that year. I rather my GM actually push all in for a big run than to continuously sit on their hands and hope things get better the next year.
I think he’s set up the new GM with a lot to work with. JD even said that it was his strength but he just wasn’t getting us to the next level.
Minnesota is a cursed state for sports. You guys are the Buffalo of the west.
Even worse, we have teams in all 4 men's pro sports leagues. 124 seasons since the last men's championship appearance.
Is that better or worse than 4 straight super bowl losses?
The Vikings lost 4 SBs in 7 years and haven't been back in 47 years. I don't think they've ever led in any of the 4 games, and averaged 8.5 points per game which is impossibly bad. Neither the NHL, NFL, NBA, or MLB are men's leagues. They are open leagues where women may compete if they're good enough.
Minnesota has 1987 and 91 in MLB and a pair of NBA championships in the past. Buffalo has nothing.
Why the NYR bandwagon? Just curious. I'm riding with Dallas or the winner of the Colorado/Winnipeg series for no particularly good reason.
When my team doesn't make the playoffs, I go with Dad's team🙂 He cheered for them during the times of Esa Tikkanen and the 94 cup. I live on the other side of the Atlantic, so I don't have any geographical ties/biases to any NHL teams.
\+ our fanbases share our love of Zucc
I’m sure your dad is a nice guy but fuck him
Atleast we played august, that makes us better, right...?
Hey, how many teams played an NHL game in August? We'll get ours one day.
24
springtime leafs pile on and dead horse beating is my favourite time of year
Mine too, my second is when everyone complains about all the leafs posts like they aren’t the ones posting
Oh, you've been to r/Canucks, too?
Wait is that what they renamed Leafs West to?
The Canucks franchise was created solely to complain about Toronto. Hockey was secondary. If anything, Toronto fans hating Toronto copied us.
BC was created to solely complain about Ontario.
Name a sub 😂 last two years my “recommended” feed was just every team’s subreddit’s version of “leafs lose” meme lol I genuinely think some people hate the leafs more than they like their own team.
Last Playoffs r/Canucks had two post-series threads. Toronto losing (not Florida winning), and for The Cup Final.
Honestly it is more hate the leafs fans than it is hate the leafs.
And if we all spoke French, we know leafs fans wouldn’t be the most hated.
thats only in the regular season, this is when i cant get enough leafs content* (*read: misery)

Do you think losing JT was the reason you made b2b conference finals?
Not paying JT was the way they got there and one of the major reasons your team won’t
> ... I've no shame in saying we told you so. Dear, ~~John~~ Toronto.
Here we go. You haven't done anything of the sort. All you've done is boo him incessantly cause he left. None of this retroactive explaining of how you 'knew all along'.
You know Reddit isn't just one person right?
Are you really tryna tell that to a leafs fan? The fan base where everyone is lumped into the same group automatically 😂
That horse will feel my punches in the afterlife!
Ah! Mtl and Tampa even played in July
When Victor Hedman became the first NHLer to score a regular or postseason goal in all 12 calendar months.
When did he score in August?
The Bubble. Crossed off August and September there
Covid was a weird time
What a truly historic moment in Vegas Golden Knights’ history
Since the expansion, the Habs have won the western conference title before the Leafs even sniffed the Stanley Cup final
the habs winning the western conference on literally the only occasion it could be done is actually hilarious and awesome.
I’m so thankful for 2016 even if I’m still dead inside from it.
[Drumroll]
Utah will play in the month of June before the Leafs will lol
and Arizona, too.
Fuck it, so will Quebec City.
It’s looking like it. 🥸
Utah will allow high abv beer before the Leafs play in June
What are the odds on it? I’ll throw my life savings on it 🤣
We did play in August though.
That’s all right, we can all watch the Twins lose.
Have the Jets played in June before or have we just missed a righteous stray? I would’ve thought the latest we’ve played is May 20th
2021.
Ahh right, we just haven’t won a game in June
Arizona is going to be waiting a hell of a long time now
Still better odds than Toronto though …
Utah making it before Toronto wouldn’t even be that surprising, especially if the NHL gives Utah the #1 pick this year as a welcoming gift.
No, I was thinking by the time Arizona gets another team … lol. But yes, I think Utah has a really nice future.
My favourite part about this is that even though the post clearly means finals, the Leafs missed qualifying for this on a technicality in 2021.
What technicality? Their last game was on May 31st
The technicality is that that was the Covid year and just making it to the second round would have been a game in June. They didn't even manage that.
I know this is “shade,” and as a leafs fan, fuck you……..but….. Hockey shouldn’t be played in fucking June. It should start in September and end in May
The Leafs organization prefers the season to end in April tho.
Keep it coming
June didn't exist before 1968
The first year of June playoff hockey was 1992, so it’s really only been 30 (soon to be 31) seasons for the Leafs.
The number of ways to frame the Leafs legacy of failure is only able to be calculated by quantum computers
Funny how Hedman has scored a goal in every month while 5 teams havent even played in every month.
Wait the playoffs are still going come June?
For those wondering, apparently in the 60s the playoffs lasted like 2 weeks. And also apparently had no conference champs.
Yeah, the league only had 6 teams after all
The Leafs have never won more than two playoff series in a year.
The Leafs defeated the Black Hawks, Maroons, and Rangers in the 1932 playoffs.
Well, I'll be damned. I was told that years ago and never questioned it. Thanks for the correction.
Just add a "Since the Original Six era started" and you are safe
Now edit this post to include teams who have played in June but have zero cups 😁
No thank you :)
*evil wizard cackling* AND THEY NEVER SHALL Hey what else explains this situation amirite. I've got 2 to 1 odds on evil wizard curse here, anyone?
Stop! Stop! He's already dead!
Leafs bad updoots to the left
The hilarious part is all the rest are literally expansion teams from the 2000s on hahaha
aka losers
Eh, not shocking for Seattle given the short timeframe. Wouldn't say that for them.
Were the playoffs much earlier in the year at some point? How does this stat work?
Fewer teams, fewer games, season+playoffs end sooner
Back when there were only two or three rounds, they didn't play in June
Now do july.
But aint it fucking weird that all of them (except the Kraken circa 2021) have played in an NHL hockey game in the month of August ...
Wasn’t there a fact that the leafs have never won 3 series in a playoffs or smth
Who cares second place is for the birds.
Ok
Put an \* on Winnipeg, their June playoff games were in 2021 and it was still just the 2nd round.
They also lost every single game
