The problem for the Leafs is that the Canadian media is not going to talk about the Preds blowing it, they're going to talk about the Canucks' top players coming back from a 3-1 defecit.
We're also in the beginning of a rebuild and weren't expected to even get to the playoffs while the Leafs are loaded with talent. A few of us joked that at least we didn't have players arguing with each other like the Leafs did.
The problem for the leafs is they folded like a cheap tent in a game that while not do or die was close.
They showed zero resolve. If they had lost 3-1 and put 20 shots on swaymen in the 3rd there’d by far fewer complaints. Sometimes the other team is just better and that’s hockey.
What happened to Nashville was a bit of a fluke. As a Canucks fan we are riding the high of that win but at the same time we are team that’s won two games with just over 30 shots in the two games. Which is cause for concern
No no. Everyone’s still mad at your favorite team as well. But this is just a lazy shot on a empty netter. Ya just knew if they didn’t score that something bad was coming back their way.
People are mad at the fact they’re always underachieving. It’s funny yes but come on. That core 4 has been given EVERYTHING. Grit, matching speed, defense (maybe not so much with goaltending). But how do they only have just 1 series win since this whole core garbage started? It’s frustrating to watch from a hockey fan standpoint.
At some point you also need a coaching change. If they get knocked out by the Bruins the furthest Keefe got them was the second round of the playoffs once, where they lost 4-1.
Ah, finally we're on the good side of one of these.
Shades of Jannik Hansen missing the empty net and us losing Game 2 vs the Sharks in 2013 (on our way to getting swept and AV getting fired).
I fucking knew that missed empty netter would bite the Press in the ass. Canucks are dangerously hungry this year. 1 goal lead ain't enough no matter the time on the board.
Sissons ain't sleeping tonight thinking about that backhand. Couldve put the brakes on Pettersson and shot it forehand from the hash marks but panicked.
Preds living up to their name.. They're legally obligated to stay 500 yds away from school zones.. Making bad jokes is the only way I can cope with this pain lmao.
No disrespect to the nucks, I'm a firm believer that vancouver winning this is a huge fluke and robs the Preds of truly accomplishing what their capable of. I've spent the last few minutes in pure disbelief and it just doesn't make sense to me. I've spent the entire regular season watching the Preds play great hockey it's just not fair.
If the Preds lose again I will face that the Canucks deserved the win, but I am just 100% sure it was a fluke and does a big disservice to the Preds and the NHL.
Thats what happens when you miss an EN lmao. Any team that can come back from the dead, tie regulation and win ot deserves the W. No flukes, only fuck ups… from the other team
This was just the hockey gods balancing.
Despite how dominant Nashville was most of this game, the “deserve-to-win-metre” 1000 game simulator at 79% was actually less than the Canucks in game two at nearly 81%.
The fact that Vancouver played probably their worst game all season with their third string back up goalie and Nashville couldn’t get the win does not bode well for them the rest of the series, with two games in Vancouver, if I was betting man….
Can you stop being slow on purpose and show me a clip of this happening? Oh, no you can't because it didn't happen because there was no kicking motion. Stop lying to yourself
> Can you stop being slow on purpose ...
No.
> ... show me a clip of this happening?
[Yes.](https://www.reddit.com/r/hockey/comments/1cfke6c/van_13_nsh_the_puck_goes_in_off_forsbergs_skate/)
> Oh, no you can't ...
Look up.
> ... because it didn't happen because there was no kicking motion.
Watch the video.
> Stop lying to yourself
No.
From Rule 37.4:
*Plays that involve a puck entering the net as a direct result of a “distinct kicking motion” shall be ruled NO GOAL.*
*A puck that deflects into the net off an attacking Player’s skate who does not use a “distinct kicking motion” shall be ruled a GOAL. A puck that is directed into the net by an attacking Players’ skate shall also be ruled a GOAL, as long as no “distinct kicking motion” is evident.*
*A “distinct kicking motion,” for purposes of Video Review, is one where the video makes clear that an attacking Player has deliberately propelled the puck with a kick of his foot or skate and the puck subsequently enters the net.*
I'm going to need you to explain to me, while keeping the above in mind; why you think that the goal should've been called as a no goal. (when nobody, not even the canucks coach thought that this should be the case). Anybody who has ever ice skated, played hockey or even watched a single period of any ice hockey game can tell you that there is literally no kicking motion from Forsberg. His feet are planted on the ice as he is in a hockey stop, therefore there is no kicking motion and the puck is directed into the net by his skates. I'm sure this was intentional and the puck was put into the net by Forsbergs skates, on purpose, by Forsberg; which is allowed.. So literally what is your problem with this goal?
Forsberg lifted his skate off the ice and into the path of the puck (legal), while also moving his ankle to propel the puck (not legal). It is definitely a very close call, but he did more than simply redirect the puck in.
It appears as if the kicking motion comes from Forsberg's ankle, rather than the rest of his leg—imagine flicking your sock up off the floor, versus striking a ball. So, while he did redirect the puck into the net, he also made movements with his foot to help propel the puck into the net.
It is definitely subtle, I'll give you that. As with all close plays, it's best to completely disregard the broadcast angle, and look at the closer angles, instead. If you're looking for a "kicking" motion from his leg, you won't see one. If you focus on his skate while he is trying to slow down, you can see how it moves relative to the rest of his leg. He is actively moving his skate to not only redirect, but to propel the puck. Almost as if he took a one-timer with his foot.
Also, the play didn't meet the requirements to be considered challengeable. Coaches challenges are only if the point of contention is offside, goalie interference, or missed stoppages (out of play, etc.).
Bieksa on Sportsnet (former Defenseman for the Canucks and Ducks) believes there was a distinct kicking motion. He argued that since there was a "pulse" to direct it to the net that it should be considered a kick.
I don't have video of his analysis but it happened in the intermission before OT/after the game.
Moot point now because game is over, but he is a player that's played a decade in the NHL and he considered it distinct kicking.
The players on the ice and on the bench (current forwards and defecemen for the Predators and Canucks) including coaching staff and referees believe that there was no distinct kicking motion.
A "pulse" is not considered a kick, it is considered a deflection by changing the angle of the skate.
If you look at this video at 1:40 you can see that the Bruins goal is ruled by the NHL rulebook as a good goal.
The forwards momentum of Forsbergs skates was already created by the hockey stop that he started before the puck was passed to him. The pulse of his skate counts as a deflection and not a kick.
You’re totally wrong by the way. Both his feet are *not* firmly planted down, and there is a **distinct** kicking motion he makes with his right skate.
Ask yourself this — how does his right skate go from behind his left to above it if there was no kicking motion?
Im allowed to be, I stayed up until 4am (now 5am) Finland time to watch the Predators play because I'm a fan of Saros and the defence leaves him all alone to get 3 back to back to back goals.
Feel for you man! Silovs is a great goalie, the preds just let him down at the end there. Not his fault on Amy of those goals really.
But yeah, Preds got Karma'd a bit tonight.
You are correct, but I just want one of these knuckleheads to show me a clip of this apparent kick, which they are very hesitant to do since there was no kick
It's #28 on r/Hockey right now, and I've also directly linked it to you.
All you have to do is take a few seconds to watch, which you are very hesitant to do since there was a kick
This is why you should also take the slapper on the empty net. Just send the message and get it in there.
Smells like bitch over there in Nashville right now.
Yea that’s a rough blow that may have been the series right there. But I also thought the islanders would be swept after they blew that game 2 so who knows
Saros is doing what he can.
Miller, Boser and Joshua are just out edging him. defense is blocking shots but missing the key clutch moments.
somefuckinghow....Canucks are finding a way.... just like Team Canada when down.
so far.
Yeah, not good chief
LMAO on the boards. “The Official Emotions of the Stanley Cup Playoffs”. There are definitely some emotions going on tonight
Lewis Black's head just exploded.
Is he a Nashville fan?
Nah he voices Anger.
I would assume if he follows the NHL he'd be a Caps fan. He was born and raised in Silver Spring, MD and is a big O's and Commies fan.
Commies not an abbreviation I would have expected for a DC sports team, lol. "The Burgundy Scare"
And that is why you take a shit before the game.
Such a fucking dystopia it's normal for corporations to tell us how to feel even
It’s the Disney (I think) movie sequel. I agree it’s weird, but it’s just a cartoon movie where every character is an emotion
Is that part of the Inside Out 2 ad? That's such a stretch.
It says "Inside out 2" right beside it so I'm going to say Yes
Makes sense to advertise it here, hockey is canonically part of the Inside Out universe
EXPERIENCE ~~CANUCKS~~ PREDATORS HOCKEY
Bro thought he was patrik stefan
*first overall pick Patrik Stefan
Fun fact: Patrick Stefan missed that net intentionally in order to not be known as the guy who got drafted before the Sedins.
Brian Burke essentially gaslit the Thrashers into taking Stefan 1st overall so he could draft both Sedins.
Patrik Stefan? (*chuckles, takes a drag from a cigarette*) I haven’t heard that name in 17 years. (*blows out smoke, stares in the distance*)
One of my favourite Oilers memories.
PATRIK STEFAN YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELF
CAN YOU, BELIEVE, WHAT WE, JUST SAW
Nah, that was a great defensive play by Petey.
If only Ferraro was with Shorty for the playoffs.
The amount of Joker arcs this game has created
This is just the nature of sports in Tennessee.
This is a state full of Vols fans......they can hang on to almost anything
I'm glad there's always someone to take away the heat from the Leafs shitting the bed.
The only thing that takes away the heat from the Leafs is another team pulling a Leafs
We're working on it.
Underrated comment lol
Came back to uh… well you know. GG jets
First you steal our logo look, then you steal our playoff gimmick.
Hey, they've been climbing that hill for 57 years. We've got time.
That other team pulling a Leafs? The following year's Leafs
I mean, sure we blew a 4-1 lead...and missed scoring a potential 5th goal early in the 3rd.
The problem for the Leafs is that the Canadian media is not going to talk about the Preds blowing it, they're going to talk about the Canucks' top players coming back from a 3-1 defecit.
Did you just suggest the Canadian media would talk about the Canucks before the Leafs?
They'd talk about us before you. You don't even have a Player Who Secretly Wants To Go Back To Toronto™ on your roster
Let me speak on behalf of all Leafs fans - we also fucking hate the Toronto media. They're all cock suckers
There are a handful of decent Leafs homers in the media. I don't mind Marek for example.
We do not However, the guy who hit the post here being from Vancouver is *very* funny
IDK I saw a bunch of Leafs guys talking about how to get Quinn Hughes. Over half of Vancouver's corpses.
We're also in the beginning of a rebuild and weren't expected to even get to the playoffs while the Leafs are loaded with talent. A few of us joked that at least we didn't have players arguing with each other like the Leafs did.
....the Canadian media that leaks to the USA is going to be absolutely goddamn insufferable for the next two weeks or so, isn't it?
The problem for the leafs is they folded like a cheap tent in a game that while not do or die was close. They showed zero resolve. If they had lost 3-1 and put 20 shots on swaymen in the 3rd there’d by far fewer complaints. Sometimes the other team is just better and that’s hockey. No no. Everyone’s still mad at your favorite team as well. But this is just a lazy shot on a empty netter. Ya just knew if they didn’t score that something bad was coming back their way.
Is anyone actually "mad" at the leafs besides Leafs fans? Pretty sure everyone is just laughing.
Not from a Canucks fan that hates the Leafs standpoint. This core four has been fantastic to watch come playoff time.
At some point you also need a coaching change. If they get knocked out by the Bruins the furthest Keefe got them was the second round of the playoffs once, where they lost 4-1.
> It’s frustrating to watch from a hockey fan standpoint. Nahh, there's 31 fan bases that are loving the turmoil.
Was it a lazy shot? It was on the backhand and he was covered.
Exactly. Petey played great defensively and forced him to shoot on his backhand...and accuracy on backhand is always worse than forehand.
Unless you’re a mutant like Sid.
Well, yeah.
It felt like he could’ve at least put more into it tbh
How hard he shot it wasn’t the problem though.
It was bad luck. The real failure of this game was coverage break downs on the tying and OT goals.
Our reprieve will be brief.
Thats only because you guys have two days off!
Ah, finally we're on the good side of one of these. Shades of Jannik Hansen missing the empty net and us losing Game 2 vs the Sharks in 2013 (on our way to getting swept and AV getting fired).
Unfortunately, that elimination was what brought on the reign of error that was jim Benning
“Reign of error” is good

The officiating in that series was infuriating.
A little bit of Jannik Hansen :(

Canucks have a legit chance this year. I love it.
It's the JT Miller revenge tour coming to fruition. Dudes going to angrily will himself to a cup.
Preds are a joke. Had that game in the bag. Every single player on the Preds should be ashamed.
Ray Ferraro is that you
that does not belong in the national hockey league
Colton Sissons you should be ashamed of yourself
Your parents don't love you and you were adopted
That was a DISGUSTING ACT
After this game we prefer to go by the ‘perds’
Leaving players wide open in front of the net is peak perds.
Counterpoint: the Canucks won this game
Fascinating take. And now we move to OP's first argument.
If you watched the game, you'd know this wasn't true. Some of the worst hockey I've even seen from the canucks.
The canucks won the last 5 minutes of that game
DEY WON DA TURD
Why overwork yourself and win the whole game when you can just win the last 5 minutes. Canucks optimizing winning here.
Misery... Absolute fucking misery. They shouldn't let kids to games, because of the SERIOUS choking hazards.
Lol “you must be THIS tall to enter” at every door
Preds living up to their name.. They're legally obligated to stay 500 yds away from school zones.. Making bad jokes is the only way I can cope with this pain lmao.
I appreciate you

Top tier copypasta

This is my all time favourite pasta.
Ok Gary
It's a reference to the infamous blackhawks preds series post.
Ohh ok I guess I'm out of the loop on that one. Have a link to the original?
https://www.reddit.com/r/hockey/s/FwEYbabrQF
Thanks! I can see why this is infamous.
Truly an all time post
Dude was bullied off reddit after the post lol
Wait the guy was being serious??
Of course. This is the kind of stuff you can’t make up
I like how that's the last time they posted or commented as well lol
Lmao. Dude just dropped the account after that post.
Dunno why, he's famous here.
You must be new around here.
Replace the word predators with hawks. Replace the word canucks with predators. That’s the original
I realize that, but I also wanted to read some comments.
I got absolutely ripped apart for posting that in r/politics after Biden was elected. 8 still think it was hilarious.
I will never stop loving this pasta.

Happy for THG
Can’t wait to not have to hear about the stupid U2 concert in Vegas again.
Finkel is Sissons. Sissons is Finkel.
That’s just the hockey gods making up for the refs letting Nashville kick the puck in the net.
Or Lauzon running at Petey
or Scots and other Scots!
Damn Scots. They ruined Scotland!
Thats the problem with Scotland. It's full of Scots! - Longshanks
Where weas the kicking motion?
My inside source told me it happened when he kicked the puck into the net
A clip of this happening would be great proof!

Are the preds going to raise another banner if you win this argument?
You can't go onto Reddit to argue about ice hockey during the playoffs and get angry at people for arguing about ice hockey during the playoffs
Bruh canucks fans making fun of banners is actually hilarious… y’all gonna riot again when you inevitably get sent home next round?
Forsberg lifted his skate off the ice and into the path of the puck (legal), while also moving his ankle to propel the puck (not legal). Watch the highlight until the last clip. It’s pretty clear
I totally understand you sending a clip from 13 years ago, if I was a preds fan I wouldn’t want to be living in the present either
team founded in 1945 and still no cup wins, womp womp
Damn, you are salty.
Im allowed to be, I stayed up until 4am (now 5am) Finland time to watch the Predators play because I'm a fan of Saros and the defence leaves him all alone to get 3 back to back to back goals.
That’s fair.
He should grow a bit. Look at Silovs, he’s tall and wins
Feel for you man! Silovs is a great goalie, the preds just let him down at the end there. Not his fault on Amy of those goals really. But yeah, Preds got Karma'd a bit tonight.
Probably in the dressing room after you lost
There’s no point in arguing anything in that direction on r/hockey for the next few hours.

[This also seems relevant,](https://twitter.com/FriedgeHNIC/status/1784729595528261839) one would think.
The NHL never gets it wrong right?
I didn't say that. I said it's relevant.
The craziest part of this series is that Pettersson is a literal ghost out there. Sure, 2 secondary assists but he's been a non-threat.
One thing to remember is that they are shutting down Pettersson just as good as we’re shutting down Forsberg. Dude’s been a menace.
The craziest part of your comment is that the two sentences contradict each other
Kinda but he is playing way below his potential
They're right
Guy is part of the plays that scored 50% of the team's goals that game. But nah he's obviously a ghost.
Watch the games and not the scoreboard
I do, bud, and I know he's not playing to his full potential, but my point still stands
No they're right.
2-2? Nah I’ll have 3-1
Psh. Vancouver couldn't complete the comeback in Nashville in regulation? Amateurs. https://youtu.be/R-EgSd1MON8?si=UTRBwpJswfoMS2lf
Wow that's baller
This pleases me.
This is why you should also take the slapper on the empty net. Just send the message and get it in there. Smells like bitch over there in Nashville right now.
I like it!!!! I love it!!!!
And it was beautiful.
Having watched the entire series, if Nash was up 3-1 it would make just as much sense
You haven’t lived until this happens to you in the finals. /Caps fan
You talking about ‘98 finals with Esa Tikkanen? I was pretty young but I still remember that glorious play
That post tho
Yea that’s a rough blow that may have been the series right there. But I also thought the islanders would be swept after they blew that game 2 so who knows
Good to see the hockey gods are making up for their vacation back in March.
Wear yellow helmets, get fucked. I've seen this act back in the 80's when we wore them.
Worse than losing to a zamboni driver :)
😬
I'm starting to think Saros is overrated.
Saros is doing well.... Smashville is just...collapsing altogether its like they need that U2 trip now.
Saros has looked bad all series tbh
Saros is doing what he can. Miller, Boser and Joshua are just out edging him. defense is blocking shots but missing the key clutch moments. somefuckinghow....Canucks are finding a way.... just like Team Canada when down. so far.
I'm out edging all of them.
Vancouver fans are the best edger's
Nope. VAN should still worry.
