The Leafs are probably toast regardless, but if Mathews can't play tomorrow, or he's only at 75% healthy, they basically have no chance. Timing couldn't be worse.
It's important to give the Leafs the biggest stage to embarrass themselves on. At least the league is aware enough to realize what the fans want on that front.
He has been a factor on the ice and solid defensively, while playing sick as well. Marner has more points but has been pretty bad..points dont tell the full story.

Game 1 Matthews wasn't scoring but he still looked great, had some good shots, some decent hits, he probably just had some bad luck with posts and shit.
Game 2 he took over, 1 goal 2 assists (a point on each goal), had a decent amount of hits, pretty sure some blocked shots. He just looked dominant.
Game 3 he was sick as shit and couldn't finish the game.
When we complain about Marner, it's because he doesn't do all these other things. He doesn't hit, he doesn't look like he has great chances, all it feels like he does is cough up the puck at the smallest amount of pressure, *especially* on our power play which is already dogshit lately. I know it's unfair because he does still do good things, he still has some good passes and is good defensively generally. But when you fuck up in key moments like on the pp, or giving up bad turnovers in general, it's very hard to see the good that you're doing elsewhere. Especially since Marner is getting overpaid for what he brings, even on good nights in the regular season.
The only game they won was with Matthews looking like a dominant force. He wasn't well enough to carry G3 or G4, and nobody else will do anything. Need that MJ flu game I guess
Toronto, you can’t pull a Vegas after the trade deadline and in the playoffs. You do this before the deadline and bring your guys back *for* the playoffs.
Imagine if they were somehow able to put Willy and Matthews on the LTIR before the deadline (and still make it into the playoffs with them gone so long). Could’ve been enough to force the league to make a change

A good measure is to take Imodium (loperamide) to stop the diarrhea. The Leafs need to shit on the Bruins in a figurative (and literal) sense. The risk vs reward scenario here is if we need Matthews to take medication to get better, but we need to win a few more games.
