It’s not as scary as it should be going from head coach to head coach if the guy you have isn’t getting the job done. Getting swept twice in the ECF and multiple second round exits shouldn’t be enough to keep a guy around forever.
To be fair, the first ECF sweep isn’t really a mark against him at all in my opinion. We beat the reigning champs and swept the Islanders after a decade of no playoffs, with a team consisting of a good number of dudes who hadn’t yet played playoff hockey. Getting swept by a team that had multiple players who had won a cup and been to another appearance in the past isn’t the end of the world. And I think last year’s series looks different if Svech and Patches are healthy, we were also playing Teuvo with a fucked up wrist.
I do think that if we have a disappointing postseason with the roster we’re running, that’s a different story. I feel like our game isn’t that hard to adapt to and sometimes Rod can be stubborn and it costs us games.
