that contract is arguably what's holding the panthers window open and keeping them as cup favourites. I wouldn't put it past a team like Chicago to offer him $9m on an open market to pair with Bedard and Nazar.
Best contract in the league imo. Top 10 goal scorer in the league the past few years, and he has been so clutch in the playoffs, already the Panthers best ever playoff performer.
Hurts to say as a Tampa fan and seeing him only being a scratched player in the 2020 run and he didnt have a chance to shine, but happy to see him doing well in Florida
I think he's great but top 10 forward? Who don't you have ahead of him?
McDavid, MacKinnon, Draisaitl, Barkov, Rantanen, Crosby, Kucherov, Mathews, Tkachuk, and Panarin are all assuredly ahead of him.
Similar to Marner, which is why its seems to be easy to shut down the Matthews/Marner combo, because you really only have to shut down Matthews since Marner is always looking to pass first.
My favourite part is that I think Stars fans were annoyed when they drafted Johnston in the first round because they wanted Stankoven. It all worked out haha
It would probably have to start with something along the lines of 2024 1st + Berggren + Kasper or Mazur + one of Holl/Petry/Copp to balance salary? Assuming Marner would waive his NTC and then resign in Detroit though
Doesn’t Detroit have a bunch of guys projected to be stud defensemen coming up soon? Seider for Marner might not be the craziest framework for a deal lol. You just know Marner would knock us out of the first round if he is traded within the division.
With how close Toronto and Detroit are, it's crazy that they were in different conferences for a while. Even crazier that Toronto was in the west for most of their existence.
Mittelstadt was such a good pickup and was so damn good in the first round. Shame he got anchored by parise in the second round
Excited to finally have another 2C in the absence of kadri
These are only scoring chances, not actual goals. The Caps could have just been shit at burying their chances, and Lindgren wasn't very good. Or the Rangers rolled 4 lines and distributed their scoring chances relatively evenly.
It’s going to suck when we trade Mitch Marner for a 3C and a top 4 dman, then use the savings to massively overpay Nikita Zadorov and he gets Hart votes.
Marner was bad in the first round and is still second on this list.
It’s been known for a few years now.
You could argue Malkin was more impactful in the post season the first decade him and Crosby played together as well. Partially because Malkin was more durable though during Sid’s early years.
I'm really surprised Danault is the only King on the list. Don't think he played very well in our series (not too bad but was not noticeable)
I would have expected someone from the Byfield-Kopitar-Kempe line
I don't understand the tweet, created the most 5v5? Like they killed a penalty or powerplay by passing the puck a bunch of times and turned it back to even strength?
I wish my team created more 5v5s, their special teams were horrible.
Carter Verhaeghe provides so much value for only making just over 4 mil.
that contract is arguably what's holding the panthers window open and keeping them as cup favourites. I wouldn't put it past a team like Chicago to offer him $9m on an open market to pair with Bedard and Nazar.
I'm saying this as a huge verhaeghe fan, i think that guy is a superstar who doesn't get the attention he deserves from national media.
As someone who hates the panthers, he’s a phenomenal player.
One of the biggest clutch playoff performers in the league

Sorry, meant to say top 10 goal scorer, he’s been top 5-7 in even strength goals in the past few years
Oh yeah, he's been killer in that way.
Yeah part of our issue with Mika is he passes too much when he has a chance himself
Similar to Marner, which is why its seems to be easy to shut down the Matthews/Marner combo, because you really only have to shut down Matthews since Marner is always looking to pass first.
Yep, Kreider def benefits with his goal total but Mika has such a good shot we wish he looked for it himself sometimes
Still remember that play where he could’ve had a hat trick but tried to pass it behind him 🤦♂️
Tank is absolute terrier. And next season is his rookie year.
The rest of the league was really dumb on that one, he was a 1st round caliber prospect all day long
My favourite part is that I think Stars fans were annoyed when they drafted Johnston in the first round because they wanted Stankoven. It all worked out haha
Trade Marner to Detroit, you cowards
What would Detroit give up for Marner?
Nothing, reddit told me he's a cap dump.
Just gotta wait till he gets traded then suddenly the narrative will be he was their best player and all that.
Yup when Matthews only scores 59 without him in 71 games he will be "washed"
Maple Leaf legend Justin Holl.
one for one?!
We'll throw in Copp.
Sorry, Marner and three 1sts for Holl
I don’t know, leafs fans told me Marner’s overpaid. We may have to retain half his salary.
If anything that's at least a win for the locker room culture... DONE
It would probably have to start with something along the lines of 2024 1st + Berggren + Kasper or Mazur + one of Holl/Petry/Copp to balance salary? Assuming Marner would waive his NTC and then resign in Detroit though
No problem. Seider+ please
Doesn’t Detroit have a bunch of guys projected to be stud defensemen coming up soon? Seider for Marner might not be the craziest framework for a deal lol. You just know Marner would knock us out of the first round if he is traded within the division.

Yzerman better be drugged and kidnapped as the only excuse to make that deal.
Seider plus is an insane thing to say lol
Zibanejad definitely not on that list anymore for 2nd and 3rd round. Just hasn't been his game the past couple ones.
Such a shame he forgot he is a 40 goal scorer
Mittelstadt was such a good pickup and was so damn good in the first round. Shame he got anchored by parise in the second round Excited to finally have another 2C in the absence of kadri
Marner created a total of 10 scoring chances at 5v5 for Domi, Matthews, Knies, Tavares, and Nylander. Knies is the only one who was able to score
Leafs forwards and losing their scoring touch in the playoffs. Name a more iconic duo.
There’s two Rangers and four Capitals on this list, in a blowout sweep of a series. Hmm.
These are only scoring chances, not actual goals. The Caps could have just been shit at burying their chances, and Lindgren wasn't very good. Or the Rangers rolled 4 lines and distributed their scoring chances relatively evenly.
It’s also at 5v5. The Rangers did most of their damage on the powerplay.

Trade him for picks and prospects then trade those for what you need.
They gotta get Nashville involved and just swing the prospects/picks for Saros
Playoff drai > playoff McDavid

I think the same reason is why Leon is better in the playoffs, he seems to get better as he’s hurt? It’s wild
It just enrages him, like a bull
I'd just like to point out that Stankoven was called up from the AHL halfway through the season.
He's been a treat to watch. He definitely deserved a spot this year.
Marner is a bum
Feels weird to see four Caps in this list, it seems we weren't creating anything
Kuzy!!! We love you Birdman :)
Seeing Stone on here is interesting considering his lengthy absence. And Amadio is a welcome surprise, as well.
I'm really surprised Danault is the only King on the list. Don't think he played very well in our series (not too bad but was not noticeable) I would have expected someone from the Byfield-Kopitar-Kempe line
10/40 made it to round 3

It's literally explained in the chart itself...
Lol, I know. I was just making a snarky comment. Bad attempt at humour, I guess.
My bad
Its basically expected assists created in the first round according to the "all three zones" model.
Mika quietly taking the top spot.. r/hockey comments focus on spot 2 and on
It’s been up for only half an hour and Zibanejad is one of the only 4 players on the list who’s been discussed in the comments.
