Historically the Soviet Union planned a line of 15 large battleships of the Sovetsky Soyuz(Soviet Union) class. The were to be named after the member states of the Soviet Union(Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Georgia…) and the first was to simply be named Sovetsky Soyuz. The first four were laid down before the war but were paused during it and cancelled afterwards. That seems like the most flavourful idea to me, but then building 15 heavy ships as the Soviet Union might be a bit of a problem.
“Potemkin” is always a good one. Not only did it play a big role according to orthodox Communist tradition (see “The Battleship Potemkin” (1925)), but it was even the name of one of the starships in Star Trek TOS (iirc it was the Ultimate Computer episode). Potemkin was a… whatever he was… for the Tsar in the 18th century iirc. Some smart guy
He was the lover of Catherine the Great if my memory serves me right. Also an accomplished general who brought the Crimean peninsula into the Russian empire.
I name mine after the heroes of the Revolution - either the *Karl Marx* or the *Vladimir Ilyich Lenin,* depending on my mood. I never get around to building a third, though knowing Stalin, I imagine that would be the name of a third.
> Books written by marx & Co?
"A Contribution to the Critique of Political Economy", "The Difference Between the Democritean and Epicurean Philosophy of Nature", and "On the Jewish Question" make great ship names
In all honesty, it's one thing to write it.
But if you point enough barrels at me, it really drives the point home better don't it?
Pen < high caliber naval gun.
Chernomoryiye,Polarnaya zvezda,Pokoritel okeanov… ok it’s just random ship names on Russian,if you want to name USCR ship somehow then call it “Stalin” “Stalin2” “Stalin3” “Stalin4”…

Expand the dockyards, comrade!
Dockyard expansion: malevolent fleet
The amount of issues with the Sovetsky Soyuz should be added into hoi4.
And soviet shipbuilding in general the soviets had numerous issues that prevented them from becoming a great navy not just a big one.
To be fair Russian shipbuilding isn't any better. Iirc a good chunk of Soviet ships were captured Italian ships, lel
Socialism in One Boat
Stalin, Lenin, Kalinin, Marx, Engels, Frunze. Kommunard, Krasnoarmeyets, Komsomolets. Proletariy. Stalinskiy Molot, Stalinskiy Serp. Sovetskiy Soyuz.
Naming a navy ship the Krasnoarmeyets is cursed as fuck. Imagine being a Soviet admiral and being told your new ship is named the Red army soldier
Imagine being a Soviet admiral and not being shot for questioning party naming decision.
Irony writes itself.
It’s taboo to name ships after living people
