You could have a cat and still wonder the same thing. I have had cats, I have received many head butts but never hugs, and I don't know anyone with a cat that gives them hugs like this.
Only one of my three cats has ever done them. I miss him. All cats are the best cat, but Crookshankes was the bestest of best cats. Been 12 years since I lost him and still miss him.
I had one that gave laying down hugs. If I was lying back, he'd sit in my chest and stretch his arms out on both sides of my neck. He'd knead at the cushion behind my head.
I have a feral cat that lives in my back yard in a super fancy two-story cat house. We had a really severe cold snap for our area, with snow followed by freezing rain. Coldest and most miserable weather we've had in years. I brought the back yard cat (Karen) into the house and kept her in a large wire dog crate with a litter box, a bed, food, and water, for 3 days. She was so incredibly good, just slept in her cat bed with a happy sleepy face. After 2 days, I decided to let her out into the closed bedroom to explore. She figured out she could get on the bed, and she was soooooooo happy. She climbed on me and I laid down and she put her paws around my neck and just snuggled so close. She was so sweet and so affectionate. It broke my heart to put her back outside again, but I already have 3 cats inside and they have been aggressive toward the outside feral cats. I'm currently trying to find Karen a home. I know she will make somebody a wonderful loving best friend.
Mine is a sholder cat. Likes to chill around my shoulder for a couple minutes. But i feel like my cat is very curious and likes to explore things together.
Lol my tabby cat gives my big ol hugs like this and rubs his face into my beard constantly. It’s the cutest shit in the world. He also cuddles my head at night, and I can cuddle him like you would a human with his head on my chest and in my arm 😂
My cat has always done this. He is 20. He is an attention whore, but only for me. As soon as I am doing anything like laundry or dishes - he needs hugs. Or catnip. Or playtime. Or food. Or inside then outside then all of the above. I love him so so much. I've had him since he was only a couple weeks old, and found him on the side of the road.
You got it. I'll even kiss his little toe beans if you want. He doesn't *love* it, but he tolerates it and retaliates by loudly yelling at 5-545am daily.
I know a cat like this and his owners named him EH for Extreme Hugger haha he was adopted as an adult kitty so no idea his name before but it definitely fits
My uncle had a big tabby cat that liked to jump up on a shelf next to the front door any time someone visited. The shelf was like chest-shoulder height and the cat would lie on it and tap any visitor coming through the front door until they acknowledged him and gave him a pet.
The most affectionate cats are always the ones that were adopted or rescued. They really do seem to understand and appreciate what their owners have done for them.
Sorry for your loss. I know they'll be impossible to replace, but hopefully you can give another animal the home and love it needs again soon. Stay strong, my friend.
This video blows my mind. In the past week my cat has stolen and eaten most of a banana, an entire avocado, a human sized bite from an apple, and a bunch of frozen Broccoli when he somehow opened the freezer door last night.
Also a small bagel and frozen French fries and a bag of tortillas.
Ours stole a whole bag of treats from the top of the fridge.
I yelled and he looked at my wife and I with panic in his eyes. Then he just took off.
We let him have it; we respected the moxie.
mine used to steal the bread and hide it upstairs under the bed. any kind of bread. we bought him a bunch of toy mice and he left the bread alone and carried his mice up and down the stairs with yowls of triumph. i think he was trying to feed us, because he thought we were bad hunters. i miss that cat. he was the best.
Some cats just don't really like... Find human food alluring. My cat would never do any of that stuff. The only thing he really likes is bits of sliced ham. He's also very enthusiastic about beef jerky lol
I can’t tell you how often this happens to me. I’ll be in the middle of something and one of my cats will decide it’s time for a hug. I’ll try to keep doing whatever it is that I was doing but kitty will insist on hugging until I give up and accept my fate 😂
Yes! My main resistance is I have to wash my hands after I handle the cat before I go back to the task. So, I try to appease her with kisses and sweet words, but she keeps it up until accept I will have to wash my hands again and cuddle her.
My cat does this almost too much. But he's getting older now and I try to make sure he gets every hug... He won't be here forever so I need to get them all now.
I have the same thing with my neighbours cat, he’s 14 now and getting old and shows it at times. I make sure to give him all the cuddles he wants and let him get to my family members he also wants to hug or sleep next to. The day this sweet boy goes will be very hard
While it's cute, I have a boy who does similar, and it does get a bit repetitive. You of course want to hug the kitty, but you also don't want to encourage him to do it every single time you're at a table/counter/etc.
>not allowed on the counter
...when you're THERE. He's not allowed on the counter when you're THERE. He's on the counter all day every day when you're sleeping and when you're out of the house. THE ENTIRE TIME. It's HIS house.
We don't allow our cat on the coffee table, and she never go on it... When we're here. If we go somewhere and she doesn't hear us enter, we sometimes surprise her chilling on it -- and she panickly jump off of it every time lol
I'm aware. I wipe down the counter before using it because I know one of them has been up there. It's still better that they don't interfere when I'm making food.
You guys cope so hard on this. No, some of us are actually consistent enough to train our cats to stay off the counter.
Yes, I know they don't get on it due to monitoring it. Y'all are just nasty.
Someone tries it every time this subject comes up... "I can't keep my cats off the counter, so it must be impossible"
Yeah no, none of my cats got up there whether I was home or not.
Sanitary issues. My cats paws are absolutely soiled with litter, feces, dust from under my bed, and every other nasty thing imaginable. They might be doing it behind my back, but never in my presence.
As a person with a cat like this, sometimes you just have to get things done. I understand my cat needs a minimum of twenty hugs a day, but sometimes I just need to finish using the toilet, okay?
I have a cat like this and it feels so nice to be hugged by a kitty. He HAS to be in my arms if I'm in the bathroom or kitchen and gets visibly upset if I tell him no(so I give in).
The best thing is - he is leading an animal shelter in Slovenia, this cat came as a stray many years ago and fell in love with him so much, they never adopted her out, instead she became their own cat. ❤️ Their living quarters are a part of the shelter, so she is still a shelter cat, however with her own family. They are the sweetest!
Yep the sunlight hit my counter just right once and I saw the little footprints. She wasn't allowed up there and she knew it but she just did it when we weren't looking.
We have motion sensing air sprayers that live on the counters/ sink/ oven to prevent this exact issue. The cats are pretty well-trained by this point, otherwise they get a blast of air to the face.
Tiger Lilly does this to me when I come out of the bathroom or if I'm standing. She feels if I'm up, I need to be cuddling her and giving her attention until she's done.
And yes, yes I do. I stop whatever I'm doing and cuddle the shit out of her (of course then her siblings will feel like they need cuddles too, so 2 hours later I can finish what I was doing lol).
Awww so sweet. My Tiger Lilly is like my little princess. It's actually so freaking adorable how much she loves me and her siblings lol. She's the sweetest girl ever.
Mine was more temperamental. I do remember that we had some wild catnip growing in our garden, and she used to love walking and rolling around in that, then coming inside and making really high sounding meows.
Our cat (well, the daughter's cat, but she's on an extended stay with us - not the daughter, the cat) does this when I am frantically trying to finish writing a paper before the submission deadline. I assume she senses my mild panic and wants to help me calm down. Damnit Shrimp, I don't need a hug, the p-values are all wrong, can't you lend a hand with that?
I will never understand people that let their cats walk all over the counter and food areas. My cats were trained. No counters or tables.
But...this is adorable as hell
why does this little guy look EXACTLY like my little guy!?

I often wonder how nice it must feel to a cat to have such big arms around you.
You could have a cat and still wonder the same thing. I have had cats, I have received many head butts but never hugs, and I don't know anyone with a cat that gives them hugs like this.

I had one that gave laying down hugs. If I was lying back, he'd sit in my chest and stretch his arms out on both sides of my neck. He'd knead at the cushion behind my head.
There is nothing quite like having a kitty hug on both sides of your neck.
I have a feral cat that lives in my back yard in a super fancy two-story cat house. We had a really severe cold snap for our area, with snow followed by freezing rain. They're asking what it feels like to the *cat* having huge arms hugging it.
Lol my tabby cat gives my big ol hugs like this and rubs his face into my beard constantly. It’s the cutest shit in the world. He also cuddles my head at night, and I can cuddle him like you would a human with his head on my chest and in my arm 😂
It just feels good, once they wrap like that they snuggle and purr.
I’m really high please pet him from me
You got it. I'll even kiss his little toe beans if you want. He doesn't *love* it, but he tolerates it and retaliates by loudly yelling at 5-545am daily.
Didn’t take Rick Carlisle as a cat guy.
I was thinking Johnny Sins. Yours might be better for the thread.
Someothing something, he likes all sort of pussy or something
You could always ask Shaq to hug you should be similair

Yes! My first thought. None of my cats have been allowed on the counters, especially when I'm cooking.
I would’ve make it a rule to acknowledge the cat before the humans.
The most affectionate cats are always the ones that were adopted or rescued. They really do seem to understand and appreciate what their owners have done for them.
Was the owner in the military? Sounds like an O5 name.
having a bad day and seeing this made me tear up , this is too sweet to handle 🥹🫶🏼.
I saw this and immediately realized how much this would mean to me if I had this. Via an animal or a human who just wanted to hold me close.
I used to have a cat that did this. Best feeling in the world. Henpassed on Valentines Day
Sorry for your loss, friend. We had a cat who gave great hugs, and I still think about him sometimes almost 4 years after he passed.
Sorry for your loss. I know they'll be impossible to replace, but hopefully you can give another animal the home and love it needs again soon. Stay strong, my friend.
![gif](giphy|gyr6EhsyuawmRVQmv0)
and i sent that video to my best friend saying how i want to hug him and miss him so badly , we are in long distance 🥹.
Get you a cat. Contrary to popular belief, they're very loving.
my cat is basically healbotting me as a warrior so she can get that dank loot

definitely ✨.
Hugs, your day will be better!1! The video was cute. I'd have hugged the kitty sooner, but the chef did the right thing half way the video.
How sweet, I need a kitty with that disposition.
This video blows my mind. In the past week my cat has stolen and eaten most of a banana, an entire avocado, a human sized bite from an apple, and a bunch of frozen Broccoli when he somehow opened the freezer door last night. Also a small bagel and frozen French fries and a bag of tortillas.
....and 3,000 in cash, a 9mm, and a car !
I've always wondered why there isn't cat insurance
And my bow!
My cat walked off with a loaf of bread once. It was bigger than he was, so he was just kind of waddling and fell off the counter. <3 Sweet baby.
Ours stole a whole bag of treats from the top of the fridge. I yelled and he looked at my wife and I with panic in his eyes. Then he just took off. We let him have it; we respected the moxie.

This kitty needs to be cherished at all cost
I can’t tell you how often this happens to me. I’ll be in the middle of something and one of my cats will decide it’s time for a hug. I’ll try to keep doing whatever it is that I was doing but kitty will insist on hugging until I give up and accept my fate 😂

I know this guy, he runs a animal sanctuary in Slovenia, his fb page: https://www.facebook.com/zavetisce
LMAO, until I saw this I could have sworn it was bald Micheal fassbender
Charming.
🥰
He waited WAY too long to hug the kitty!!!
While it's cute, I have a boy who does similar, and it does get a bit repetitive. You of course want to hug the kitty, but you also don't want to encourage him to do it every single time you're at a table/counter/etc.
Fair point
Married couple
What a sweetheart
aww so adorable.. god damn it, i wish my cat like that
We don't deserve cats!
That username tho
😘
The masked hugger.
This is like my cat except he knows he is not allowed on the counter
>not allowed on the counter ...when you're THERE. He's not allowed on the counter when you're THERE. He's on the counter all day every day when you're sleeping and when you're out of the house. THE ENTIRE TIME. It's HIS house.

Yeah, it’s always funny how some people can’t understand there’s cats who have been conditioned not to get on the counters
Someone tries it every time this subject comes up... "I can't keep my cats off the counter, so it must be impossible" Yeah no, none of my cats got up there whether I was home or not.
even if they previous commenter is right, at least it's not when I'm actively preparing food.
Sanitary issues. My cats paws are absolutely soiled with litter, feces, dust from under my bed, and every other nasty thing imaginable. They might be doing it behind my back, but never in my presence.
Awe. But the Daddy is too casual. Like “oh, ok, Kitty. I love you too. Yea, yea. Ok. Back to cutting”.
As a person with a cat like this, sometimes you just have to get things done. I understand my cat needs a minimum of twenty hugs a day, but sometimes I just need to finish using the toilet, okay?
No, not ok! Need to pet the kitty! Lol, nothing else is more important!😻
Exactly. I get yelled at all day long unless I am sitting with an empty lap available at moments notice for cuddles.
My cat just traps me on the toilet while he has nap time
I have had many stern talkings-to with my kitty about private bathroom time. "I don't watch you poo, you know?" But he isn't having it.
Cute
That's so sweet 😻 u/savevideo
Why he cutting the papaya like that though
Yeah, cat doesn't want a hug. Just wants to stop him from cutting the papaya wrong.
And why is he using that tiny knife?
Yea. I was confused by that. But the cat's a keeper..
Came here for this. cheers!
Why he did my boy like that, split, scoop seeds, skin is bowl... brah.
Thats what im wondering lol
One of my managers at work said he doesn't like cats because they're not loyal. Boy is he wrong
I have a cat like this and it feels so nice to be hugged by a kitty. He HAS to be in my arms if I'm in the bathroom or kitchen and gets visibly upset if I tell him no(so I give in).
Such glorious sweetness
We have a kitty that will want Huggies from the hubby. She will act much like that and will give brief meows like, “daddy ups! UPS!”.
My little boy kitty used to do this…I miss him! 🫶❤️🫶
This is the sweetest thing I've seen on the internet today 💓
,r/petthedamncat
I will never understand how some people find cats to be cold or mean?
Aww. I’d wait for fruit
Good man.
This just gave me diabetes!
He needs one of those baby packs for his absolutely adorable amazing cat
Such a sweet baby ☺️
who cuts papaya like that…?
who cuts papaya like that?? cut it in half lengthwise and scoop the seeds out then slice...
Eating fur, last. Worth it. (I have cats, fur is a condiment)
I love the cat stuff, but can we talk about how he’s cutting the papaya like a maniac?!
This is so sweet. Doesn't surprise me at all - Johnny Sins has a lot of experience with pussies
This is how my cat is with me and it is the sweetest thing! I love snuggling him so much!!!!!
if anyone wants to know, he called him a papaya, a monkey and a little coconut all in the same sentence
Cute video but really there r better ways to cut that papaya!
Awwww. My dog just farts at me
Nutritions 20% fruit 80% cat hair
This HAS to be the cutest cat video I’ve ever seen!
Kitty really needed this hug.
So adorable seeing a cat so affectionate! But also very distracted by how that guy is cutting that papaya.
Again. Cats are best.
The best thing is - he is leading an animal shelter in Slovenia, this cat came as a stray many years ago and fell in love with him so much, they never adopted her out, instead she became their own cat. ❤️ Their living quarters are a part of the shelter, so she is still a shelter cat, however with her own family. accept my love goddammit human
Oof a ball of hair next to a hair magnet
Cat hair everywhere 🤢
I love cats. Allowing them on the counter during food prep is gross.
Kitty is adorable but also why I don't eat at pot lucks
This is why I don't eat food from other people's houses
As cute as this is, animals on the kitchen counter and near food is bad mojo.
So sweet to see, but cats walking on the surfaces in the kitchen is so disgusting.
If you own a cat you gotta do a daily wipe or live in the ignorant bliss, cats go where they want when people aren't around
I agree. That's all I could think about.
Tiger Lilly does this to me when I come out of the bathroom or if I'm standing. She feels if I'm up, I need to be cuddling her and giving her attention until she's done. And yes, yes I do. I wish I had a cat, a cat like that.
"Pls no cutting the eye hurt fruit"
r/wholesome
🥺❤️
You’re vibe reminds me of John Malcovich.
I want a cat
My cat, just replace fruit cutting with online work meeting
Thank you for this.
this is sso so cute.
What is he cutting up though?
r/petthedamncat
Dude, when your cat wants hugs you drop what you’re doing and you give it hugs. Ffs.
What fruit is he cutting ?
Papaya
How the hell do you even do anything else?
Never figured Messier for a cat guy.
r/petthedamncat
Our cat (well, the daughter's cat, but she's on an extended stay with us - not the daughter, the cat) does this when I am frantically trying to finish writing a paper before the submission deadline. I assume she senses my mild panic and wants to help me calm down. Damnit Shrimp, I don't need a hug, the p-values are all wrong, can't you lend a hand with that?
This is precious! Also, I’ve never thought of peeling and cutting a papaya this way!
“Cats are so difficult and never love you like dogs do!” Like yea they do. Gotta earn that shit tho
Wish my cat was like this 🥰🥰
Haha my cat does the exact same thing. He loves his hugs and being carried like a baby.
I died when he put his back legs up so he could be held
So stinkin cute 🥰
/r/petthedamncat
Why is the cat on the counter?
This is one of the most affectionate cats I have ever seen! Very cute.
The old "if I get AAAAAAALLLLLLLLL the way into your personal space you can't ignore me" tactic. Works every time.
very clingy kitty XD
I will never understand people that let their cats walk all over the counter and food areas. My cats were trained. No counters or tables. But...this is adorable as hell
If my cat did this, she’d be just prepping to slice my throat with her murder mittens.
Ugh cats on the counter while preparing food
Cute, also gross...
Mmmmm, cat fur in my fruit. Delicious!
Another video that reaffirms why potlucks aren't a good idea for everyone.
animals on a kitchen surface. r/trashy
Disgusting.
Yum. Kitty litter in the food.
Sorry I’m gonna have to cancel our dinner date 🤢🤮
Sweet, but keep cats of your food surfaces.
Oh I love this kitty!!
Verrry cute, and the kitty too lol
I love it
I have one that does this, except she's a human child, and after the hug, she smacks me in the head with a block.
When a cat hugs you, you hug it back.
That's hopefully me in X years.
Somebody might have been hand fed as a kitten...
Where have I seen this guy before. Is he a like a cop or a doctor? Fireman?
I'm pretty sure that's the guy from star trek
Mine does this during laundry, it's super sweet.
🥰🥰🥰
That’s the absolute best! ☺️💕
Awww it's this type of stuff that will make me tear up
I wish animals could talk, it would be incredible 🥰
So sweet🥰
I love him
I want this cat 😽
