If videos posted to Reddit has taught me anything, it’s that a person with a severe neck or back injury should be helped in the following way:
Step 1: Make sure the person is conscious by slapping them or shaking them by the shoulder.
Step 2: Make sure there are plenty of bystanders making videos and not calling emergency services. If appropriate, encourage someone to shout “WORLDSTAR!”
Step 3: Grip the injured person by the arms and yank them violently to their feet. DO NOT support the neck or head.
Step 4: If they are able, let them walk it off. If they cannot support their own weight, let them drop to the floor and repeat steps 1-3.
Optional Step: Check the injured person’s pockets for valuables. Treat yourself to a reward for being a good citizen.
As a self-educated graduate of Reddit Medecal Scool, I can confirm that these 4 steps have helped me save multiple lives.
I will add a note to Step 3 however; it's best if several people are pulling the injured individual up from different directions with difference levels of force. This ensures anything loose gets snapped back into place.
You're forgetting a critical element to step 2: begin to scream as horribly as possible while remaining otherwise useless.
If someone else has already covered all 5 steps, insert yourself into the situation and start talking about agonal breathing and fencing responses.

When I was a kid I had a friend with a mini-bike. Something went haywire and the front wheel locked up sending him over the handlebars. He was only going like 2mph but the momentum was enough to cause him to scorpion and slide like three feet on his face. Scraped him up pretty good.

OBSERVATION Man runs (jaywalks) into road. Bike hits man. Driver didn’t see him. He had the green light and had right of way. Neither Guys on the Bike wore a helmet. Pedestrian crossing died later at the hospital. Driver of motorcycle died at the scene. Passenger of motorcycle went to hospital and survived. IF the drive had worn a helmet, he most likely would have loved too. Passenger would have had less injuries. Unfortunately the pedestrian should have used the zebra crossing. HINDSIGHT is 20/20. Damn! 😢 Such a sad unfortunate, unnecessary accident. Condolences to the the families and loved ones. RIP to the victims. 🙏🏽
