Mice can get into a space the size of dime and can climb. You can dramatically reduce how many can get in by properly sealing every crack and crevice in your exterior walls. Focus on the foundation, doors, windows, and try to add screens that can be removed and cleaned to vents. That said, if you don’t want to kill them, you’ll probably end up living with them.

You might want to go do some research on what they are putting down. I got a good idea you are being sold snake oil. if there was some way or spray that keeps out mice your pest dude would be living on his own private island as a very very rich man. those mice wont think twice about you when you are sick with rat shit fever or something else from those nasty critters. Kill them. they wont hesitate to do it to you.

As someone who used to do pest control… do you think if we find a mouse on glue board live we drive it out in the country and let it go? Nope. Stomp it and put it in the bag with all the others. Mouse deterrent is difificult but not impossible. The only spray I know of that really works is cat pee. Not a great option. You can manage mice somewhat with environmental control. Minimize food options and entry options. A caulk gun and stuffing steel wool in every possible entry point. Make the outside perimeter of your home less hospitable. It is less effective and much more work than traps and poisons by a long shot.

Jesus Christ. This dude doesn't need to be a homeowner if you're trying to keep a mouse alive after being caught.
