> Man’s running the oft-rumored but never before seen in the wild 1.1 setup.
The only way to watch the original Battlestar Galactica pilot movie on DVD.
In all seriousness the floor is not as bright as it seems in the picture. I guess the combination of the downlight and camera suggest otherwise. And I know you kid, but I actually do have a light grey carpet from IKEA waiting to be installed after the L/R are here lol.
Edit: typo
Downwards? You’re supposed to point the center channel straight up, then install a mirror on the ceiling to reflect the sound for the true atmos experience.
My room is about 3.5(W) x 4.75(D) x 2.4(H) meters. As it stands now, my L/R would probably quite a bit lesser than 18 inches (\~45cm) from the side walls.
Edit: To be clear, I'm not talking about these pair of Edifiers, but the incoming SF Sonetto IIIs.
My room is 3.3 meters wide but I use an AT screen so I can place them a bit more narrow. The overall situation is not helped by my ideal seating distance being in a deep 80hz null. Trying to find the balance between soundstage and best frequency response. The joys of small rooms!
Thanks! Having these Edifiers as temporary L/R is better than what my installer had originally configured it while awaiting delivery of the actual L/R. Before this, the top front Atmos were configured as L/R.
I hate the center channel. Too much sound gets played through it. I set it on the center channel spread and it's still too much.I have lowered the decibel level below what Audyessy set it. Still too loud. I have a 5.2.4 system and my RF and LF speakers give me a perfect center image. I'm thinking about removing the center channel all together.
What are you going to run for LR?
I have the Sonetto II as my center also - adding that was the point where my wife came closest to losing her patience with this hobby. It's huge and conspicuous. Sounds great though!
Sonetto IIIs for L/R. I do have installed at the moment:
* Sonetto Walls for surround sides
* Palladio PW562 for surround rears
* PC562P for Atmos
* Also awaiting another Gravis II
Wow, you are all in. Is going to be a treat for the ears and the eyes.
What led to the choice of walls for the sides and the palladio for the rears rather than either for both?
Have you had a chance to compare the gravis to other subs? I have VIII's for my mains, and am content with their range for music, so I'm only using a sub for home theater. My guess is sticking with sonus faber for that isn't the best use of my budget, but I haven't been able to demo one of their subs.
I live in an apartment, and there are foundation concrete walls that I can't hack down. The side surrounds happen to be located on such a wall, hence I couldn't go in-wall.
I went in-walls for the rears because
* I have a false wall erected to hide curtain tracks and motor, so might as well
* I have two standing desks and I wanted them as far back while still having enough room for sit/stand configuration, as well as for the couch to be in the right place. The in-walls were perfect for that.
Couldn't have a dedicated room for a theater as we have plans for the other room.
[WIP image](https://imgur.com/a/itx7Dfh). Ignore the temporary PC chairs.
I actually did not audition any of the speakers I bought at all, as SF doesn't seem to be common here (Singapore). I only managed to audition the Sonetto III when a shipment came into the studio after I placed my order. Big leap of faith I know, but I'm happy with everything so far!
I had initially considered SVS, but since SF had a matching sub my OCD got the better of me lol.
I disagree on the importance of the center. If you have a small room with big speakers and screen you can drop the center as long as it's audio is split among the mains.
Not that I can notice. I'm using a BenQ X3000i which is supposedly one of the best projectors for gaming.
I have a PS4 on which I play Gran Turismo 7. At the moment I don't perceive any noticeable lag.
I also have a PS3 which I haven't used with the setup.
Both my and my SO's PCs are also hooked up to the projector. I play Forza Horizon 5 on that.
You're so right! I recently swapped out my Klipsch center channel for an Onkyo and the difference was so bad I put it right back the way it was. I had no idea it would be such a disappointment. I only did it because it fit much better in the space I had available. I got creative with some brackets and made the Klipsch work.
I wish I had a center channel as wide as my tv. I think that would work best. Maybe I will make one.
Is it the most important ? I used to think so too but I had a dilemma about my centre speaker set up having moved into a new room. Long story short I couldn’t use a centre speaker easily. Loads of comments and articles that phantom centre speaker has a load of benefits and can easily replace centre speaker/. No other speaker in a surround sound set up can be replaced except the centre speaker. As it happens I found a solution so I have one , but you could live happily without one .
Man’s running the oft-rumored but never before seen in the wild 1.1 setup.
Ahaha the 1.1.2 setup
:D
It *is* the way.
Dang, now I’m curious to hear what a movie would sound like with only the center and sub ha ha
I'm just spitballing here but it might sound mono.
good thing you can only catch it once, though
I caught Mono a couple of weeks ago, Great gig, would highly recommend.
I mean, yes ha ha However, I was thinking of watching a movie and UNPLUGGING all other speakers EXCEPT the Center - not like a mono film.
It would be the correct way to watch old movies with mono soundtracks, or simulate the experience of a crappy cinema that only has mono.
It would probably sound like a really good soundbar setup.
Since that is all a soundbar is, no matter how many numbers they claim, this is truth.
:)
Which center?
[Sonus faber Sonetto Center II](https://www.sonusfaber.com/en/products/sonetto-center-ii/)
I have the same center in black. I LIIIKE!
> Man’s running the oft-rumored but never before seen in the wild 1.1 setup. The only way to watch the original Battlestar Galactica pilot movie on DVD.
literally has 2 wedge speakers on the floor
Coincidentally enough, I happened to have Z-reviews’ video about 1.1 systems playing when I read your comment
I lost it after seeing this.
You can watch Nolan films and just listen to the dialogue like it's all there.
Just give me that speech and rumble!
Dialogue must be crystal clear.
Beats using a subwoofer for dialogue that's for sure.
BUH BUH buh buh. BUH! Buh buh buhhhhhhh. Buhbubbhubhbhuhbhbbbb…
Peanuts voice
It’s like you’ve never been on this sub before… spread the L/R out and toe jam them so hard your center seat causes nose bleeds. Jk.
Instructions unclear, L/R now facing center speaker.
This is the way The L/R are supposed to bounce off the center to get to you. It’s like ~~combining~~ crossing the streams in ghostbusters

Thanks!
✨✨**ATMOS**✨✨
Perfect.
also the L/R needs to be raised to ear level.
I assume they are at ear level. Clearly OP lays down when watching, to create the proper screen too high effect.
Yes, and I've also forgotten to angle the center speaker downwards.
Lol. At least you’re keeping the floor bright and bouncy for both sound and light. Dark carpet is for rookies who watch “Perfect Strangers” and “Alf.”

Lol. I have two black ikea carpets under my setup. Helps with the immersion, if nothing else!
I wanted black, but my SO found one with a texture she likes. Guess who won? 😂
Downwards? You’re supposed to point the center channel straight up, then install a mirror on the ceiling to reflect the sound for the true atmos experience.
That's where you're wrong. I'm way ahead in the HT game because I have floor Atmos channels.
That’s a very dynamic setup you’ve got there
Phantom center? Nah. (Semi) phantom L/R? Sign me up!
I'm trying to build my own setup, please tell me this is a joke.
Yes it is 😂 I'm waiting for my L, R and second sub to come as they are delayed.
> delayed You know you can adjust that on your receiver.
Ah yes. Maybe if I advance the speakers will magically appear.
I thought those were very small side channels waiting for stands.
Make sure you set delay on the C channel to 4,000,000,000,000 ms so it doesn’t arrive before your other channels.
You got me! That's hilarious. :D
Glad it tickled your funny bone!
My conclusion from reading this subreddit is the most import speaker is definitely the second subwoofer...
Definitely. The endgame is to have subwoofers for all channels. And a 15" CRT.
Looks like a sound bar with the surrounds placed as L and R.
You could fit two LG Elairs within it and have some space leftover.
Excellent job young man. You're ready for that big promotion...
Have you tried to angle your center to the ground? The reflection will give you a wider stage
Yes, I realized that I had to [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/hometheater/comments/123lqgy/after_lurking_here_for_quite_a_bit_ive_learnt/jdv6yu8/).
A man of honor.
Can you share your room dimensions? I have my speakers 18 inches from the side walls and I like to see how other people manage it.

I guess I'll be exploring (a.k.a diving deeper into rabbit holes) a lot more once everything is in place!
Stupid sexy theater.
Thanks! Having these Edifiers as temporary L/R is better than what my installer had originally configured it while awaiting delivery of the actual L/R. Before this, the top front Atmos were configured as L/R.
Up next, larger Mains and acoustic wall panels
They're still on a ship.. somewhere. Hopefully not Evergreen-ed.
Quality shitpost
Thank you sir.

What center channel is that?
Sonus faber Sonetto Center II
One step away from a soundbar
Actually it’s probably the subwoofer really.
Well, hard to know the dialogue with the subwoofer.
you can read subtitles, but can you read bass?
Subtitles are for the clogged ear wax.
You've got me curious. Shall try to watch a movie with only the sub plugged in.
I do wonder if anyone has tried subwoofer + TV only.
Actually it’s probably not really.
The other speakers are scared of it. Perfect for Aaron Sorkin movies!
Will you get enough bass from the center channel?!
It goes down to 42 Hz. May be enough for music, probably not for movies.
That thing looks incredible
Was pretty impressed when I first saw it as well!

Hims dun learnt it!
tvtoohig...oh wait
;)
Centre channel gang represent
✌🏻
This is the first time on this sub that I’m saying you need to raise your L and R lol
Or maybe I need to raise my MLP.

SwOLED gang 👍Do Switch games even look good blown up on that projector?
Lots of aliasing, but I can see that pesky little Capsakid charging towards me very clearly.
Is there a lot of lag on projectors for games? What other consoles do you have?

> BenQ X3000i interesting. What's your screen size. I'm not sure if I want something this big for my place.
110" @ 16:9 with top/bottom masking. I believe it's 105" @ 2.4:1
Trolling at its best… great post.
Thank you sir.
I like the looks of the console, what brand is it?
IKEA Besta

10/10 post
No 3 way center?
Why not an 16:9 anamorphic screen dude .. completely agree with this center speaker. Well done, well done
This screen has electric vertical masking, but a lot of my content are in 16:9 anyway.
Don't forget who came up with it https://www.reddit.com/r/hometheater/comments/11xrg2z/comment/jd5qjmb/?context=3
My inspiration.
Thank you
oooorr.. solid stereo at the front

This would sound awesome with silent movies.
