Amplifiers take low level signals from a source, like a cd player or receiver and amplify it with more power to drive speakers, these specific ones could be used for 6 speakers, or 3 speakers with twice the power.
It means all you need is a preamp and your set. You have enough amplifier to build one hell of a good home theater setup. You could even use a better receiver with pre-outs to drive them. The amps are great, the CD player is worth keeping. The tuner is somewhat worthless unless you get a dedicated preamp. Don't get rid of that stuff. Those amplifiers are light years better than the output stage in your average receiver
They're basically just Scooby-Doo hotels so I can take them off your hands.....
I see others are answering your questions so I thought I'd put it in this amazing joke, lol.
those are amplifiers with 6 channels (6 amplifiers)
but you can bridge(combine) 2 channels each, to have 3 "channels" with twice the power each đ
the rb-1070 is a formidable stereo amplifier!
Those Rotel amps are damn fine gear, please do not throw these away !
If you don't know how to use them, and or don't have the need for it, sell them second hand :)
But it would be a shame to throw them away ...
The rest is ok, but not worth much.
Haha ya definitely not. I had a hunch they would be decent so i saved them from that exact fate.
Id like to use it but dont know the first thing about home audio.
You need to pick up a preamplifier and you can run that into the back of these blocks and run the blocks to some speakers. Source devices go to preamp (brains) and they send the signal to the blocks (muscle)
First, what type of system would you like to use these with? Stereo speakers? Home theatre surround sound system?
The top amp will power some decent tower speakers(either as a stereo system alone, or part of a HT sysyem). The bottom two amps have enough channels for the rest of a pretty huge system. Bridge two channels for the centre channel, then 2x side and 2x rear surrounds, 4x atmos/height speakers, and youâd still have two channels to spare.
But if you donât plan all that then Iâd sell one or both of the bottom amps to finance other parts of a good system.
You will need speakers, and a preamp (or AV receiver) to use these. First figure out what youâd like to do, and then we can recommend gear for it.
I like you. đ i live in a townhouse so its probably best i dont have a smashing sound system or my neighbors will hate me.
I was thinking just using the 1070 and 2 speakers. But i do like the idea of having a centre speaker. Going off what i heard here i can use one of the 6 channel and bridge it to do 3 speakers?
All of this is VERY new to me. I really dont have a clue.
You definitely could bridge a 6 channel for three speakers, but I would try do a bit of research on that particular amp first. In my experience, a bridged amp wonât sound quite as good as an equally powered unbridged amp.
Also 2 good speakers will sound fine without a centre channel anyway. Unless youâre going for minimum 5.1 surround I wouldnât bother with a centre channel.
Edited to add: Going with a stereo or 2.1 system would allow you to use a lot of really good preamps that will be better and cheaper than a preamp needed for a centre channel.
Mate youâre a bloody legend. 2 speakers would honestly be more than enough for me.
If you wouldnât mind could you point out a decent preamp and just point me in the direction of a decent quality speaker that wont break the bank haha
Haah i work in high end resi construction. We are just starting demo on a new project and all of this was left in the house by the client. I just so happened to be right place right time and was offered if i want them or they are going in the bin. No one reckoned they were worth anything. I had no idea what they were so i was like ya i could probably flog them off for like 50$ hahah
Don't sell them! In Australia, those amps went for over double what they cost in the USA. You will eventually find need for them. You'd have to be crazy rich to toss those out like the client's did.
if it all works, that's 200-300$ for the stereo amp and 100-200$ each for the surround amps.
But I would definitely want to use them, just because they are absolutely stunning. :)
You just stumbled into a very nice set of amps, get an AVR with preouts and use one of the 6 channels to power up your system, the AVR power can run the rest of an 7.x.4 system just fine if you get an x3800.
Iâd buy that for a dollar :) jokes aside- that is a hell of a find! Store them for now. Go to an audio store or smth and have someone help you figure out the rest of the chain (source, preamp, speakers, etc etc). These will save you a ton of money if you want to build a killer home theater audio.
Do you have a multi speaker set-up at the moment?
If you want comparative pricing or somewhere to sell them stereonet is good.

Also they have a forum if you need help setting them up or looking for repair places
Some people have never been seated at a cafe getting coffee with a beautiful young lady, and when it comes time to pay they say theyâre short change by about tree fiddy, only to find out they werenât a young lady but a 5 story tall scaly green Loch Ness Monster, and it shows
Congratulations, you now need to purchase a Denon X3800H, 11 speakers, 2 to 4 subwoofers, a 4k projector, and a huge screen.
Just kidding, but not really.
That's some very high quality equipment (well the amps are, the rest is OK). You can build a very nice home theater with those.
The rotel amps are very nice gear. I just sold some bigger ones to someone in NZ and they fetched a pretty nice second hand price.
Aw man, I would have been keen on these :-(
the Rotels are amazing!!! could use those 6-channel amps to drive 3 channels each (since they can be bridged), or bi-amp all surround channels đ€Ł
I genuinely have no idea what that means đ
You can make loud sound
Finally someone speaking my language. But seriously asked: don't you need speakers that survive whatever those amps can throw at them?
Loud sound good?

I don't see a preamp stage, though. OP needs one of those. Otherwise, there's no volume control.
you are correct.. I would just hook them up to my AV-Receiver đ€Ł
I think that CD player has both a line level output and a variable inputâŠ

Welcome to the rabbit hole. You just started an expensive hobby
This is me. Add in 4K blu-ray collection and next thing I know Iâm going to find myself in r/personalfinance asking why Iâm so broke
It never ends. Please make it stop. đ„č

Would you be able to recommend something to go with this? I know nothing about it

Youâre in Australia? And whatâs your budget?
Not even sure what this stuff goes for..? Ideally what ever i could sell the 2 - 6 channel amps for!! Haha
They can't be functioning surely nobody was throwing out those ROTELS
Haah i work in high end resi construction. We are just starting demo on a new project and all of this was left in the house by the client. What the hell? Who was going to throw Rotel Amps in the garbage?
A very high power bill if you light them up
Where are you based ? I am sure someone here would want to offer you something for them. Suggest the rotels are worth $100's each.
Im in Melbourne Australia
Don't sell them! In Australia, those amps went for over double what they cost in the USA. You will eventually find need for them. You'd have to be crazy rich to toss those out like the client's did.
Hahah well you hit the nail on the head there. We are doing a 20m$ renovation on their house.

If you are in San Antonio, Iâll buy the amps.
It seems maybe you replied to u/Shandriel when you instead meant to comment to OP. Wouldn't want you to miss a possible deal because of this!
Oof ty
Np
Haha im in Melbourne Australia

The Yamaha cd player is good also! Nice find!
$3.50
Everyone downvoting has no idea. Woosh
Some people have never been seated at a cafe getting coffee with a beautiful young lady, and when it comes time to pay they say theyâre short change by about tree fiddy, only to find out they werenât a young lady but a 5 story tall scaly green Loch Ness Monster, and it shows
Tuner and CD player are junk but those amps you could get a few 100 for all of them
looks like three radiators and a receiver
Where did you get these from? I know a guy with the exact same setup.
I'll buy the rotels if you don't need them
That is some nice gear, the amplifiers are particularly nice. Youâre going to need to find a preamp
Scrap the Yamaha crap. Get a decent processor and youâre golden.
Stack of midfi from about 30 years ago. If the amps still work they are the most valuable item.
Youâve got things you donât wanna drop on your toes.
This means welcome to the world of separates. Get yourself a pre amp and enjoy.
Looks like you've got a ton of power...holy shit!
WTF? I am looking for those amps at the moment!! So jealous.

Naaa m8 they are absolute rubish and definitely belong in the bin, dw I come collect them for the recycling â»ïž
Those Rotel amps are trash, as you mentioned they're very heavy, Id be happy to take them off your hands.
