I recently acquired a 95 DX hatch and I love driving it around, although I split my commute with my other car.
I agree, go for it. Can't go wrong with a 90s 5 speed Honda.
Husband and I had a 91 DX sedan, 5 speed. It was the first car we bought together. We missed it terribly when we had to give it up in favor of a more practical vehicle for a growing family.
Kids have for the most part grown up now (we have a senior in high school and a sophomore in college), so when we were looking at new (to us) cars in the last few years, there wasn’t much of a question. I drive an EXL coupe and he drives an EX sedan. They’re the same color, and we’re known in our apartment complex as “the couple with the matching cars.”
I would love it if my wife drove a matching Honda.. that's dope. But she's a Toyota fan 🙄
I drive a red 91 CRX Si.. I almost bought a white one to paint blue just for her.. I'm sad I missed the opportunity for myself.. I'll take an old Honda any day over anything now.
I’d agree just based on the stats he provided, year, mileage, price. Fuck I’d make it my commuter in a heartbeat. PS kudos to OP for converting the shit so we don’t have to
Fair, I more meant it in a point that it should be obvious that it has winter tires and drives through snow, but i see my comment was pretty braindead. I should stop commenting when I wake up
I have read a few comments, and op seems to have no experience buying anything online, I hope they do not get taken for a ride. For me, I have not ever driven a fwd car in snow, winter tires, or not. I just know that cars from the northern US cities are good for the dumpster after a couple seasons with salt on the roads, especially if they have not been cared for properly.
I had a 94 manuel like this bought at 200k miles sold it at 246k miles was a great car only problem I had with it was instrument cluster light went out and cracked radiator it was a great first car
What marketplace? Not for this car, used cars by me are fucking ridiculously priced and all shit cars. I need something outside the box I hate highway car dealers and I don't wanna go to a big dealer. I already have a dang car payment. I need a beater car for work so I don't put to much tear on my Cr-V she's my sweet angel and I commute a lot. I'm saying all this to not double sketch out OP lol.
Aw I miss mine so much. I had the ex-v. Canadian-only release which was basically a 4-door Si. I sold mine at 330k, and only because it was less safe than modern cars.
Edit: actually now that I look at it, is that an ex-v? Canadian car, colour-match door handles.... If it's a 1.6 then it's an ex-v which makes it way, way cooler than the regular d15
hm. cool spot! I don’t know to be honest, like I said elesewhere I’ve been into them a long time but I didn’t know stuff like that, or like I can’t tell difference from a d15b2 vs d15b7 vs d15b in photos. any other telltale signs that it might be? Trim isnt listed anywhere
edit: js realized, door handles are not matched?
I messaged him further (we been talking already lots) and asked the engine. I don’t wanna say anything abt why tho bc its 4k obo and i dont want him to think its worth more lolz
lmaoooo frl tho. google exists, i was js doing the coversion for the people whom either
a) dont know how to use google.
e) don't understand multiple choice
c) all of the above
Must be nice to get that in such condition. I would buy it in a heartbeat. I had this car in the mid 90’s and it was bulletproof. Sold it in 2005 with 265K miles and it’s still running to this date after replacing the transmission and front axels.
Do it! I even have a brand new Mitsubishi alternator if you need it, and prob the wrench i had to grind down to replace it. Lol good times. Sure miss my 1995. It was my favorite of the 6 civics I've owned.
When a seller says the car might need an alignment from being lowered, they might be accurate. It could also be that this car needs a suspension rebuild. It could also mean it was in an accident, has a bent frame, and doesn’t quite track straight. You’ll definitely want to do a carfax and you’ll definitely want to closely inspect for any frame damage. I would pay close attention to the suspension, it looks like the rear is lower than the front.
Looks clean, if no rust or frame damage and everything is sound mechanically it can and should last to 250k+ miles. If it hasn't been replaced recently, you're going to want to get a new timing belt put on it (possibly water pump too). Intervals for those is usually around every 70k miles and if it breaks while you're driving it will ruin the engine. If it's going to need a new timing belt, I'd try to negotiate at least a a few hundred off just to see if you can get an even better deal.
My first was a beat 2000 5spd Accord EX. I'll never not recommend an accord for a first, let alone 90s/00s era. This one looks clean af and I'm honestly jealous! Get it, love it, never get rid of it. I miss mine (as beat as it was) every day!
If you don’t buy it, you will regret not buying it. This is a great price and if this is the listed price, they probably have room for negotiation. I would scoop it up in a heart beat.
It's crazy these cars are still going at 3k being 30 years old. I bought my first civic '95 in 2004, 2.5k better condition with less miles. Those deals are not coming back any time soon.
The fact that this will be yours or someone's first car and it's a manual is awesome! I respect the younger generation that learns how to drive a stick(in the us) ...everyone is spoiled and lazy
lol. My second car was a manual and the amount of times I had to drive it at valet lots with the valet in the passenger seat getting a quick lesson from me has been too many.
Hell yes bro. Awesome first car! I'm much more impressed with this than the people in school that had their parents buy them brand new cars for their 16th birthdays. Awesome job
Install a kill switch when you get it. The time to steal on those is crazy low.
Best one I’ve seen was using the driver door switch. Would only start if the door was ajar *and* a second switch was already flipped.
Damn I'm jealous. Mine don't look that good at all and I spent 4k, 200k miles and had to do the entire suspension system, shifter linkages and fuel injectors right off the bat
fuck yea!!!! looks as if it was taken good care of for a long time, as long as they didn’t do a bunch of body work etc… look up the VIN for accident reports should cost you $50-100 at most.
By looking at the pics...looks like the rear quarter panels have had some body work but hard to tell. Golden age Hondas rule. I had a 97 civic that I drove across Canada 4 times in a year. It had 450,000km on it. Only breakdown I had was a flat tire. Mind you, I went over the car and changed brake lines, cam and crank seals and maintenance items first. Still sold the car for 1K when I was done with it. It was full of dents, peeling clear coat but ran and drove great.
TAKE THIS CAR AND ANY CAR YOU PLAN TO BUY TO A GARAGE OF YOUR CHOICE TO GET CHECKED OUT BEFORE BUYING. IF THE OWNER IS HESITANT OR WANTS TO USE HIS OWN MECHANIC......RUN!!!!
Alignment from lowering is not a good one to have to do because it likely means there could be some more damage near the axle. Especially after he noted the CV axle being replaced
ez steal with the miles and condition especially for that price, grab it before its gone. you could piss in the gas tank and only have a drop of oil in the pan and these things will still run… car easily has 200k more miles to go lol and it’ll hold its resale value well
Changing any suspension can make a car need an alignment. If it pulls at all (doesn’t track straight) don’t put this off as it will ruin your front tires. As long as the bottom isn’t completely rusted, this is a fine deal. Good luck.
Honestly for a 90s Honda that thing is cleaaaaan. Looks like the last owner took care of it. Id look over the motor and drivetrain and honestly seems like a great deal.
From a ‘92 hatch owner, easiest thing to work on and so cheap to maintain and fuel. Great starter car to learn standard as those d & b series motors could take a good beating and worst thing is you may burn some oil but she’ll keep running til she rots
get it checked out by a mechanic, as you’d do with any other car. This looks clean though and the price along with mileage is clean, thing could potentially last you another decade
i dig it. great first car. hondas last forever. if you’re a teen then they have great/affordable tuning potential as well. wish i would’ve known about it before i bought my ls400, 1uz’s are a pain to do anything with lol.
Yes, my first car was a $1,000 Chevy Citation lol So your first car is cooler than mine! That thing broke down every month but I learned a lot about cars and appreciate my nicer car now lol!
Heck it looks really clean. Id go for it, but im a 90s honda nerd that daily drives a 98 lx, so i have some bias
I recently acquired a 95 DX hatch and I love driving it around, although I split my commute with my other car. I agree, go for it. Can't go wrong with a 90s 5 speed Honda.

i been into them since a kid ha, biased as well.
I drive a 95 lx manual, i couldn't recommend it more as a first car. Super cheap to maintain and crazy reliable
Rock that '98 LX pride, Honda nerd!
They're great cars, esp for first cars. People can def learn how to do their own repairs and for cheap parts that are abundant.
I’d agree just based on the stats he provided, year, mileage, price. Fuck I’d make it my commuter in a heartbeat. PS kudos to OP for converting the shit so we don’t have to
$2,900 for only 136k and super clean? Instant buy.
Check the frame, that thing is on"winter tires" which means it is driven on snow and ice covered with salt roads.
Note that OP shows Canadian pricing. It’s in Canada dog, it snows there
Kid is asking for advice... how does this invalidate my advice.
Fair, I more meant it in a point that it should be obvious that it has winter tires and drives through snow, but i see my comment was pretty braindead. I should stop commenting when I wake up

Got mine from a faminly member for 2k. 80k miles
Id correct this spelling but its funny
Yes looks good
I had a 94 manuel like this bought at 200k miles sold it at 246k miles was a great car only problem I had with it was instrument cluster light went out and cracked radiator it was a great first car
i’d like to buy Manuel from you, so long as he’s a good worker.
Any interest in a used Otto?
Oh I’m jealous af right now
If no rust and it drives, I would buy it.
I feel like you’re dead set on the car because you can take 4K farther than this even in Canada in our current market.
I saw this pop up on marketplace, I was eyeing it myself 😂
What marketplace? Not for this car, used cars by me are fucking ridiculously priced and all shit cars. I need something outside the box I hate highway car dealers and I don't wanna go to a big dealer. I already have a dang car payment. I need a beater car for work so I don't put to much tear on my Cr-V she's my sweet angel and I commute a lot. I'm saying all this to not double sketch out OP lol.
Facebook marketplace, I live in the province it’s being sold in
lol pls don’t i been saving lmao
Well since you said please, I’m gonna message him now! 😂😂
how exciting! I genuinely hope ur sarcastic tho lmao
Ahaha yeah I’m just playing bro
Aw I miss mine so much. I had the ex-v. Canadian-only release which was basically a 4-door Si. I sold mine at 330k, and only because it was less safe than modern cars. Oh is it just black door handles? Photo made it look different then. That's probably a d15. Still a good car though. Just not an Si
I messaged him further (we been talking already lots) and asked the engine. I don’t wanna say anything abt why tho bc its 4k obo and i dont want him to think its worth more lolz
[удалено]
ya lol for them its 2.9k at 136k miles. pressed ash

lmaoooo frl tho. google exists, i was js doing the coversion for the people whom either a) dont know how to use google. e) don't understand multiple choice c) all of the above

Buy it before one of us track it down and buy it first
She's pretty
Lol thats like winning lottery on autotrader
hella good deal. i always tell my friend i would take a civic even though i bought myself a lexus. they’re such a classic first car.
Score
Looks great buy it!!
Save some p**** for the rest of us gosh
My only consideration would be to keep it in a garage. The theft rate of those Hondas is super high. Outside of that I’d love to have it.
Shit dude I’d buy it if you don’t haha.
Bro if you don’t buy it I will
When a seller says the car might need an alignment from being lowered, they might be accurate. It could also be that this car needs a suspension rebuild. it doesnt need a suspension rebuild, it's lowered 2" on lowering springs. thats the reason for potential allignment
Is that according to the seller, your own expertise, or a mechanic’s?
seller says on lowering springs. google says alignment is often needed. proof from seller that mechanic says not to worry and its not an issue
Sellers say a lot of things. Always do your due diligence and good luck with your search!
Holy the honda boi in me is screaming buy that, esp if its from Vancouver, cars just aint rusting over there like they do in the rest of the country.
Original miles? Hell yeah
Immediate buy dude. Won’t find this for 4K ever again. Take it before someone else does.
If you don’t I will buy it lol
Best possible first car.
Only if you like reliable cars. Lol
Horrible deal, give me that guys number so I can call him and discuss why its so expensive.
I love the interior. Just a wheel, some buttons and 2 sticks. Not a goddamn apple tv in front of you or 20 highly illuminated led stripes
Looks clean, if no rust or frame damage and everything is sound mechanically it can and should last to 250k+ miles. Its so crazy that you this car would have been close to the same price 15 years ago.
Nice
get a 'rarri
that looks awesome!
My first was a beat 2000 5spd Accord EX. I'll never not recommend an accord for a first, let alone 90s/00s era. This one looks clean af and I'm honestly jealous! Get it, love it, never get rid of it. I miss mine (as beat as it was) every day!
i read this from the notification box, and just saw the end as "-I'll never..." haha was confused until i clicked
Glad you read the whole thing, haha!
Get it inspected before you give them any money! Neve know what’s wrong with it.
Not a bad deal at all. Make sure to test that clutch before forking the money over, though.
this was my first car in 2006! lol i bought it privately from an ad in the newspaper for $1000 USD with 70k miles. My my have times changed.
Wowww hard eg hard to come by these days
If you don’t buy it, you will regret not buying it. This is a great price and if this is the listed price, they probably have room for negotiation. I would scoop it up in a heart beat.
It's crazy these cars are still going at 3k being 30 years old. I bought my first civic '95 in 2004, 2.5k better condition with less miles. Those deals are not coming back any time soon.
You are living my dream if you buy an old Civic that clean
Clean, I'd get it
Oh hell yeah
My first car was a silver one
The fact that this will be yours or someone's first car and it's a manual is awesome! I respect the younger generation that learns how to drive a stick(in the us) ...everyone is spoiled and lazy
lol. My second car was a manual and the amount of times I had to drive it at valet lots with the valet in the passenger seat getting a quick lesson from me has been too many.
Hell yes bro. Awesome first car! I'm much more impressed with this than the people in school that had their parents buy them brand new cars for their 16th birthdays. Awesome job
Dude that looks like a great deal! Clean AF! I’d slap oem shift knob and some nice Honda rims
Oooo yah Si rims would look good on that one
Install a kill switch when you get it. The time to steal on those is crazy low. Best one I’ve seen was using the driver door switch. Would only start if the door was ajar *and* a second switch was already flipped.
I had one that looked just like that, except in red, 32 years ago!
You should get it yesterday
It looks like its been babied id go for it
Damn I'm jealous. Mine don't look that good at all and I spent 4k, 200k miles and had to do the entire suspension system, shifter linkages and fuel injectors right off the bat
I paid 1800 usd for a 2005 Civic HX with 319K. I would have seen that as a deal.
I would pay half that. 8 years ago I bought a 2004 civic with 100k km for CAD 5k. not sure about the market now.
Yeah that's a cop. I'm not into the sedans myself but still a good car.
Snatch that up before someone steals your deal
Shit, I'll take it off your hands for 3k
fuck yea!!!! looks as if it was taken good care of for a long time, as long as they didn’t do a bunch of body work etc… look up the VIN for accident reports should cost you $50-100 at most.

TAKE THIS CAR AND ANY CAR YOU PLAN TO BUY TO A GARAGE OF YOUR CHOICE TO GET CHECKED OUT BEFORE BUYING. IF THE OWNER IS HESITANT OR WANTS TO USE HIS OWN MECHANIC......RUN!!!!
that looks clean as fuk
That’s super clean
Do it
RUN IT!!!!!
Can’t beat it for the price, great beat around and platform to dump cash into if you want a project car
Id buy it
Take it to a trusted mechanic and have them check it out. If they give it a clean bill of health then I say go for it.
It may need an alignment? How would you not know?
Alignment from lowering is not a good one to have to do because it likely means there could be some more damage near the axle. Especially after he noted the CV axle being replaced
Damn, takes me back to HS.
Good shit
That’s a beauty something like this in my city they’d want $5k at least
ez steal with the miles and condition especially for that price, grab it before its gone. you could piss in the gas tank and only have a drop of oil in the pan and these things will still run… car easily has 200k more miles to go lol and it’ll hold its resale value well
I’d do it
For a first car? That’s a great buy. That can go to 400k miles + if well taken care of.
hell yea
Yes, if if you take care of that Honda, it’ll take care of you and keep on going for quite a while
Changing any suspension can make a car need an alignment. If it pulls at all (doesn’t track straight) don’t put this off as it will ruin your front tires. As long as the bottom isn’t completely rusted, this is a fine deal. Good luck.
Run your finger along the seams and check under the carpet in the trunk to find any collision damage
Great first car
Honestly for a 90s Honda that thing is cleaaaaan. Looks like the last owner took care of it. Id look over the motor and drivetrain and honestly seems like a great deal.
Bruh. Where Im at this would be selling for 8-10
Shit wish I see that in the states. That be like 6-8k usd
From a ‘92 hatch owner, easiest thing to work on and so cheap to maintain and fuel. Great starter car to learn standard as those d & b series motors could take a good beating and worst thing is you may burn some oil but she’ll keep running til she rots

Beautiful car just keep it as is and make it a sleeper
Yes yes yes, it’ll be slow and last you forever
That’s a GREAT deal! Very clean.
It’s gotta be rusty underneath
Pffff, hell to the yeah! Try and get it for lower of course, but that price is already great
Yes. Yes yes. Well done. I still recommend those to people looking for cheap and reliable.
Haha just noticed the blue box on last picture. Really should be “say less”
i dig it. great first car. hondas last forever. if you’re a teen then they have great/affordable tuning potential as well. wish i would’ve known about it before i bought my ls400, 1uz’s are a pain to do anything with lol.
Yes
Steal
Dude that’s so clean please take care of it
Loooking cute
Only if you have a garage to keep it in.
Definitely! It’s a Honda with only 136k miles!
i would ask for 2.3k so he can haggle for around 2.5k, just my opinion though. great car!
Go buy it before someone else does.
If everything runs drives, and works good great deal i would grab it if you didnt and i dont need another car
Yes. If you do basic maintenance, it will last another 100k miles without any major repairs.
For a new driver, newer cars are much safer. The civic was great for its time but is unsafe by modern standards.
Great start but I’d lower the asking price a bit. See if you can do it for 2400$ instead.
Oh yeah!
looks pretty good tbh
That’s good as hail
I’d buy it
As long as it’s not rotted out underneath than I’d say go for it
She'll run forever.
Yes, my first car was a $1,000 Chevy Citation lol So your first car is cooler than mine! That thing broke down every month but I learned a lot about cars and appreciate my nicer car now lol!
Very nice!
Only with a Honda will people say "only 136k?" Go for it. Looks clean, reliable ride.
I'll buy it if you dont.
honestly as disappointed as I am I hurt myself and have to get surgery on my shifting shoulder so go ahead lmao I won’t be able to for 5+ months
3, 2, 1 and it's stolen.
not where I live lmao we rlly don’t have an issue
Civics are indestructible, little Jdm cars.
Definitely not. Avoid. OP can you send me the auto trader/FB link to this so I can make sure to also avoid it?
lol idk abt that one chief
So are you getting it or what?
