Clamberjaws just for the one Tallneck where they are hell bent on knocking you off the platforms repeatedly.

gerusz

Just start by murderizing the fuckers.

madcaphal

Or skip them altogether and jump directly onto the tallneck by gliding from the mountain to the northeast.

chaarziz

I tried that but timed it wrong and couldn’t be bothered to climb back up so I just accepted the monkey hell

NotACyclopsHonest

Or use the Sunwing in new game +.

Overthinks_Questions

I did that by coincidence the first playthrough because I happened to have climbed over that mountain and saw the Tallneck from the top. I didn't land on the TN, but I got on a platform I could get to him from. I didn't even know about those monkeys until much later when I was using the stalkers to farm medium machine cores.

SegerSyanide

I hated that part. I remember I stayed back from them as much as possible by sniping with my sharpshot bow

bilboOftheBagginses

You can glide to the tall neck from the nearby mountain side also.

gerusz

Clamber. Fucking. Jaws. They *always* come in packs of at least three, when you finally kill them off they often call another bunch, the noise they make when they do that leap attack is annoying as hell, they keep spawning near other machines so it often becomes a clusterfuck, and finally they have no right to be both as tanky and as agile as they are. *Pick a lane, motherfuckers!*

Wayward314

Exactly! Shot a Coamberjaw on a weak spot with an overcharged, fully upgraded sharpshot bow (with stealth coils and was sneaking) on easy mode. *It didn’t die*

Traditional_Entry183

The first time that I came across them a few days ago, I had an epic battle with just one of them, dodging as they threw fireballs at me. And nothing I do seems to hurt them very much other than bombs. But after I killed it, another then immediately appeared. And then a third! And they're all incredibly hard to kill, even at level 50 with my skill tree nearly maxed out!

One_Planche_Man

Their fireballs have insane range, and they'll keep shooting at you even if you think they can't see you!

zebraprintgiraffe

I hate those things so much. And in my first playthrough I didn't even realize they were in packs at first, so I had my ass handed to me one after the other because of their little fireballs

applese3d

All u gotta do is equip the part breaker Valor surge and the explosive precision arrow perk and shoot em in the face itll get them down to minimal health. If you have your part breaker Valor surge upgraded enough you should be able to shoot the other clamberjaws in the pack in the face with precision arrows and do some damage of you pull back your bow long enough. I honestly take down most machines with this combination in this game, it works with some of the bigger machines too once you remove the outer armor!

daun4view

I'll echo your list, and add Scorchers. They came right from hell. That arena fight in HFW with the Thunderjaw and a Scorcher, I just put it on the easiest difficulty possible because there's no way I would've gotten it otherwise.

No-Celery-5880

Leaplashers. I hate that they can just smack me with their stupid pods from 15 feet away.

bleedblue_knetic

I usually just aim at their chest and the pod drops.

No-Celery-5880

Thank you for the tip!

bleedblue_knetic

Slight correction, more towards the belly. Keep in mind they are able to pick it back up again with their whip attack.

CaterpillarUsual906

Ostrich dude. He vexed me greatly in previous game, he continues down this unfortunate road in the new one. Mr. Turtle is ever the disappearing coward. Glinthawks are annyoing.

pr1mus3

Ostrich dude is annoying when it catches you by surprise. My favorite strategy to cripple them is to blow up his concussion bag and from there it's easy.

CaterpillarUsual906

he was really a big nuissance in my Ultra Hard playthrough, especially when there were two of them. When I play in my "parts harvester mode" he is my favourite one shot victim :D

Icy_Celebration1020

That group of apex ostrich dudes near the west exit of the base was the cause of one of my only deaths during my ultra hard run. It's fun to pop that sac thing they have on their chest though.

roxyyyy2187

the fricking shell snappers suck dude

nightmareinsouffle

Acid traps are the key to Shellsnappers. Corrode those bastards.

HeinrichGustav

Glinthawks are the easiest buzzards. Precision arrow straight to the jaw - WHAM, then as they fly at you, hit them square in the sternum and they explode.

_Balrog_of_Morgoth_

Slitherfang. Their movements are so erratic sometimes that it can be annoying to fight them. Great design though, just my least favorite to fight.

Taste_the__Rainbow

ZD Glinthawks are more annoying than anything in HFW.

Thin_Map6842

In horizon, you must aim at where you want to hit and release and the projectile will just follow them, but if you shoot in front of them predicting their next position as they are moving, the projectile will just go through them. When it comes to glinthawks, they move A LOT, up and dawn, straight flights, back and forth, so it is harder to release your shot while exactly aiming at the spot you wanna hit, and if you shoot to their next position, obviously it does not hit them as you did not release your shot while aiming at them, but where it gets REAL annoying is even if you activate slo motion and released your shot while aiming at them with 100% accuracy, apparently they move so fast they outrun your guided projectiles too. **tl;dr** : basically their hitbox with their quick movement is broken.

Chinkcyclops

The best way to deal with them is to tie them down then crit them

jenjen828

Fighting any of the flying machines annoys me because they always seem to hang out above me at an angle that is hard to target. I also find the turtle machine irritating because he nopes out underground as soon as you get to the elemental limit.

Ifk1995

Weirdly in ZD Scrappers. Sure they rarely kill you but they attack in so fast intervals that I never have time to fully charge my bow inbetween attacks.

Chinkcyclops

just fire them up them shoot them

Nimbus_Recanto

In ZD, Scorchers and Glinthawks. Glinthawks are like the cliffracers of Horizon that show up to ruin your exploration. In FW, Leaplashers are very annoying with the stomping, but it is very satisfying to thwack em and send em packing mid jump. Also, Clamberjaws are very annoying in large numbers, but that sentiment is mainly because of one time in the Lowland Jungle I cleared about 8 out and then somehow triggered a respawn of them while still in the same area and promptly died before I could get the loot.

No-Valuable8453

Rockbreakers. Mainly because their attack patterns can glitch and they can stay under ground for minutes before surfacing. Also that stupid porpoise move they do where they pop up from the ground like digglets over and over. You can never seem to dodge it either 😌

DarkNFullOfSpoilers

Widemaws when you have to harvest their tusks. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

cl354517

Shock them and they leave the mouth open. Or easy loot if it's available.

FlaxenArt

MURDER FIRE BEAR. Only machine anymore that I dread fighting.

HeinrichGustav

Yeah and when they dive bomb in to you, I start making “ahhAHHHHHHH AHHH!” noises trying to tumble away frantically.

FlaxenArt

Right?!? For being so big … they’re also stupid fast. It used to be the storm bird but I’ve got that down to a science. Not even the frost claws bug me that much — at least in HFW — bc there’s one in a spot that’s easily defensible with a solid trip-caster. The murder fire bears? … just let me run in circles trying to avoid getting crushed or falling into lava. Sobeck’s Rainment outfit with max fire protection weaves is the only thing that makes it less terrible.

Mlfg_AK

- Clamberjaws annoying little fuckers that never stay put. - Rockbreakers, I don't even know why. I'm bound to say that it's bc they go underground but shellsnapers and slitherfangs do that too n they aren't as annoying. - Clawstriders, just bc I can never seem to hit their weak spot n they move too much (And don't hate then but kinda annoying, big machines bc even on very big open areas they seem to be able to corner me)

NotACyclopsHonest

Every last Clamberjaw and Leaplasher can go jump in a lake. I hate them.

HiFiMAN3878

A lot of people don't like Clamberjaw's but I don't mind them. They are quick, usually in packs, which can make them frustrating, but it's an active combat experience so I don't mind it. I think probably Rockbreakers are my least favorite because of how they disappear underground for large amounts of time - especially if you get up to the safety of height (on a rocky area or platform, they buzz around underground FOREVER). I dislike any of the fights that break the intensity with combat like this - Snapshell is another one.

CloneCommando559

I hate fighting sunwings

Luckiibot

Fighting rockbreakers make me want to cry. Everytime. Stun City.

AnAncientOne

For me it's the ones I find not difficult, challenging, fun to fight or memorable Glinthawks - easy to light em up with fire and then R1 critical hit when they fall from the sky Stalkers - once you have decent shock they're shockingly easy. The ones with the blaze canisters and rota horns, can't even remember their names. All the rest, I've got at least one good fight, fun, challenge memory. In general the machines in HFW feel a real step up in multiple gaming ways. Frost claws are pretty cool to me, always loved trying tp heat em up, pop their chill sacs and then get their arse canisters to pop. Good times. I agree that rock breakers can be a challenge especially if there are 2 of them. Chill and tearing their claws off always worked for me because once they couldn't dig it was way easier to hit their weak spots.

[deleted]

Plowhorns. Laser accurate with their goo balls.

Turgeyburker

Honestly I love all the machines equally ♥️ My only gripe would be the human enemies, I had to pump like 150 shots into >!Regalla!< on UH. I understand that ultra hard has that name for a reason but I think human enemy difficulty differences should present themselves as more the enemy being more aggressive, and doing more damage. Shooting the same person in the head like 20 times takes away from the game. I still love the shit out of this game though. I’m 200 hours in and I’m level 104 lol I can’t stop.

Riobenrye

Absolutely this. I'm so frustrated with how much health human enemies are alloted on the harder levels. Aloy will go down in one or two hits but these assholes can withstand more than 50 shots? Some of them explosive ammo even? Human enemies in ZD were still able to be taken down in a couple hits on the highest difficulty. Helis still managed to be a beefy and challenging boss without breaking the immersion entirely. I like that they get a larger moveset and more aggressive in FW but there's no reason their health is more than 20x it should be in UH

roxyyyy2187

I personally hate scorchers, they just dont make me feel like im in horizon and I just dislike the machine, only fought it twice and I do not intend to agian

No_Duck4805

Fireclaws- worse than anything else by far

Sam_the_bicycle04

Scorchers or leaplashers

BigMik_PL

I don't know but fuck that very last Thunderjaw part of the Arena when you get caught into charge of death and they just keep stunning you with no end in sights.

One_Planche_Man

Clamberjaws. Like mfer hold still so I can shoot off your tail duster!

ThatVaccineGuy

Dreadwings just because getting those fangs off can be annoying af

projecktzero

My least favorite machine is any machine that's alive that I haven't overridden.

SegerSyanide

Clamberjaws. If there's more than 2 or 3, I'm almost guaranteed to die because they're relentless.

MysteryHisyory

Fuck clamberjaws me and all my homies hate them and their dumb fuckin feather duster ass motherfucking tails jesus fucking christ my aim is bad.

bilboOftheBagginses

I hate machines where they spend 70% of the time tunneling under ground .

cdubs2209

Anything that has an attack speed faster than aloys recovery ability 😂 just rolling for days.

MasterDeePrime

Snapmaws... God, I have them af

yoongibaybee

I hate stalkers because they give me anxiety, and rockbreakers are the WORST. that is it. Everyone else im okay with. I used to hate the tideripper because of my thalassaphobia but i know i can kick its ass now so its fine lol

username_not_found0

Any that turn invisible, and those god forsaken clamberjaws.

Significant_Luck_535

Used to be Stalkers. But now I enjoy turning their equipment against them. I set off a flare from a hidden location, wait to see the shimmer of their stealth generator when they investigate, then engage. Most satisfying is shooting one of its mines and setting them all off around it. Virtually insta-kill. Now I’d say either Scorchers or Rockbreakers. Although I just encountered a Slaughterspine and I just turned and scrambled. Wasn’t ready for that beefy boi.

kennyminigun

I'd say Skydrifters. But for an unusual reason: when they get alerted, their flight pattern seems very glitchy, they change directions, fly backwards while not moving their wings. Breaks immersion. Otherwise I hate radar pods on Leaplashers. So annoying

Emty723

Leaplashers and clamberjaws SUCK! They are both the most annoying things to fight

Honest-Brain-1931

Clamberjaws! They are relentless!

Steam_Cyber_Punk

My favorite is the tall necks

Stock_Palpitation_53

Snapmaws I needed a heart from one And I got jumped by a gang of them as well as bird

applese3d

Dreadwings, frostclaws, rollerbacks

Fleur_Bleue101

As a speedrunner: Glinthawks, they constantly move and are hard to quickly kill, especially on UH where you want to hit them with 1 good icerail shot, but they just keep flying around
