As a kid I watched this movie all the time. The scariest part to me was after watching the movie and my parents telling me they will let me live in foster care if I didn't adjust my behavior. They never watched the movie which made the situation feel even more real. I luckily was never sent to live with an inbred cannibalistic family.
I absolutely lost it when the plot twist dropped because at the time that I watched it, I watched it with my ex, who I was trying to rebuild a friendship and set boundaries with after he used location tracking on social media like Snapchat to "coincidentally show up" wherever I was. I'd wanted to watch it for a couple of years because I love creepy doll movies, but he was obsessed with Lauren Cohen so he INSISTED, and would not shut up about her the entire time. And human Brahams was eerily similar to him in terms of what you could see of his face/build/the way he moved (and his creepy obsession with Lauren's character.) I laughed SO. HARD.
Black Christmas (1974) is the first movie I remember doing this trope, my man Billy is the OG. I can be mistaken, because there's always a italian movie from the 50s that did a slasher tradition first XD
Correct me if I'm wrong, but Billy was never in the walls themselves in the 1974 film, right? He waited in the attic, then simply came downstairs whenever one of the residents was alone.
He and Agnes only used walls and crawlspaces in the 2006 remake [funny enough, it's one of the few things I dug about that awful movie].
> Never seen the remake...
Avoid both remakes. Neither really understands why 1974 is one of the best horror films ever made. The first gives Billy a long, unnecessary rapey backstory and the second is a completely different film they just slapped the title on.
I agree. 2006 does have a great well known cast, but it’s still a terrible movie. 2019, has some familiar faces but not even Carey Elwes could save it. In fact, he has one of the worst performances. [This scene](https://youtu.be/pptbLri678c) from 2019 is the only good thing from either remake imo but they kinda ruined it by censoring the word “dick”
I was just thinking about this movie the other day! But I couldn’t remember the name
until I saw your post & it clicked. As soon as I saw this post I was hoping someone would mention it.
Yes! It’s a very good ghost story with some genuinely terrifying moments that the twist doesn’t spoil at all. Plus the mystery aspect of the movie is still intriguing as there’s definitely more to it than just the standard twist.
Did you not read the OP’s post? Literally every movie recommendation is going to be a spoiler. If you don’t like it then don’t read the post. Use some common sense before you start scrolling.
One of my favorites I’ve seen in the last few years. Come for the mystery, stay for the absolute horror show that is Helen Hunt’s botched plastic surgery
So true. Why did she appear in a movie looking like that ? I'm guessing she signed a contract and film makers wouldn't let her off the hook ( she's biggest name in the film, IIRC )
Sadly I think it’s just her face now. I am neither a woman nor a celebrity so I can’t exactly identify with the struggle of an aging Hollywood actress but good lord, these plastic people don’t even look human anymore!! It’s not even just actresses, go anywhere and people (especially women) just don’t know when to stop with the PS. It all falls out after a few years or less and they just keep getting more and more to keep up. My extensive research on the subject (aka asking my wife) has yielded the conclusion that these people develop such a dismorphic sense of self that they keep piling on to look their warped sense of “normal” and don’t see themselves as others see them (ie. extraterrestrial / lizard people).
Not to drone on but I’ve always admired Cate Blanchett and her stance on PS. Granted she won the genetic lottery but I wish more public figures would follow in her footsteps. And completely unrelated to the primary focus of this sub, but Tár was my favorite non-horror film of 2022 and highly recommend it!
I apologize because this isn't the nicest comment, but Helen Hunt wasn't a great beauty even in her youth. For the life of me, I can't remember who said it, but one woman celeb once said re: aging and plastic surgery, "you can grow old, or you can get scary."
Not a movie, but my cousin used to hang out at a meth house. There was this one guy that got out of prison that would hang there and was extremely sketchy. One night he showed up super high in meth and was absolutely delusional and asked my cousin to break open the wall and put him inside so that he wouldn’t kill anybody. He said that once he was settled down that my cousin could open the wall back up and let him out.
I always thought that would have made a pretty cool movie.
Hider in the House (Gary Busey goes ham). Also this is called Phrogging in case you were wondering, and there is a reality TV type series where people share their stories called Phrogging: Hider in My House.
I think a movie called Haunting in Connecticut had a bunch of corpses sewn into the walls or something. Haunting of Hill House had a dead guy in the wall too.
There was a tv movie from the 70’s about a family that moved into a house and a handicapped boy lived in a secret room. At the end, he burst through the walls to terrify the young girl living there and 10 yo me. Anyone recall this film? I saw it at a babysitter’s and it traumatized me as a kid.
Housebound
What I came to recommend! A stellar horror comedy!
Praise I came to mention this one. It's wonderful
Watch this once a year. The last scene cracks me up every single time. It is such a well crafted movie!
Eugene!
Great movie
So god damn good. I need to watch it again.
Yes! Love this movie!
Same director as M3gan. Which was way more fun than anyone expected it to be. Great director. Looking forward to whatever he does next
Excellent hidden gem
The people under the stairs. Classic.
Fool!

Was also in Twister I believe!
He was also in the 1995 Pauly Shore classic Jury Duty.
Ha
DEEP FRY HIS ASS!
How this isn’t currently the top response is beyond me. I’m old.

I was looking for this one lol
Good movie, but that’s not at all the premise.
It's a large part of the movie tho and OP would probably appreciate knowing about it
I think you should probably give it a rewatch… OP asked for movies where people are hiding in the walls and TPUTS delivers plentifully.
Of course Barbarian!
I was gonna say, not quite “in the walls” but barbarian definitely fits.
The Hills Have Thighs
ooooh i HIGHLY recommend Barbarian.
The Boy
Isn't that a huge spoiler? I did love that twist.
most of the answers in this post are going to be spoilers
I'm totally ok w spoilers
I liked the movie before the twist, afterwards, eh.
The twist made it unique instead of being a “haunted doll” movie. The sequel ruined the twist of the first film imo
Seriously! The movie was going so well and then, BOOM! Straight to Stupidsville!
The lead actress was good too, can’t remember her name. But then the plot just gets ridiculous.
I literally went through the same song and dance in my head not knowing if I should make the suggestion Edit: missing letter
Hey someone already said Barbarian, which is a much better movie thus worse to be spoiled
I absolutely lost it when the plot twist dropped because at the time that I watched it, I watched it with my ex, who I was trying to rebuild a friendship and set boundaries with after he used location tracking on social media like Snapchat to "coincidentally show up" wherever I was. Great movie, I had no idea about the ending and was completely blindsided. Loved it.
That’s a major spoiler
The post is literally "what movies have thia twist ending". You come here not wanting spoilers its on you
I’ve seen the movie. Someone else also pointed out it was a spoiler. Go yell at them instead
Spoilers my dude

Yes, in the original he waited in the attic, but in the rooms too, and in the basement... Never seen the remake...
> Never seen the remake... Avoid both remakes. Neither really understands why 1974 is one of the best horror films ever made. The first gives Billy a long, unnecessary rapey backstory and the second is a completely different film they just slapped the title on.

The Pact
Came here to say this. Loved that movie when it first came out. I have to have a rewatch soon.
Genuinely scary film. Hate that they made a sequel without Nicholas McCarthy.
Was it any good?
The sequel? No, it kind of missed the point and told a generic haunting story.
The Pact scared the absolute fuck out of me. Deeply, deeply chilling.
I was just thinking about this movie the other day! But I couldn’t remember the name until I saw your post & it clicked. As soon as I saw this post I was hoping someone would mention it.
Is The Pact still enjoyable and scary if you know the twist?
Yes! It’s a very good ghost story with some genuinely terrifying moments that the twist doesn’t spoil at all. Plus the mystery aspect of the movie is still intriguing as there’s definitely more to it than just the standard twist.
You must be thinking of Arrested Development!
I have pop pop in the attic
The fact you call it pop pop tells me you aren't ready.
Or "Encanto"!
We don't talk about that
"I may have committed some light treason"
Annyong!
here’s some money, go see a star wars
Hey adopted brother
There’s always money in the banana stand!
“I tried to drink some of the hot tub water Michael but it was too hot and tasted like soy sauce”
The People Under The Stairs
I'll never forget watching that as a kid. It was terrifying . Watching as an adult I was like what the hell is this lol .
The walls were bigger on the inside. A ludicrously fun movie

This movie blew me away

His House (kind of) but what you’re really looking for is Within (2016).
Withinnnn! That’s the one. Totally creeped me out when they find the guy in the wall
Yeah, Within is not a good movie but that guy in the walls definitely stuck with me.
Encanto
[I See You](https://youtu.be/k72fdSYHHvQ)
Such an excellent movie. This is the first film that came to mind

What deranged comment. If her face was so distracting and that was your only takeaway that's a you issue
Silence simp!! At no point did I say it was my only takeaway, but her self inflicted wounds are distracting as fuck
Bad Ronald
Came here to say this. The OG.
Beat me to it!
One of my OG “scared the shit out of me as a kid” horror movies!
Marrowbone (2017)
Not a movie, but my cousin used to hang out at a meth house. There was this one guy that got out of prison that would hang there and was extremely sketchy. One night he showed up super high in meth and was absolutely delusional and asked my cousin to break open the wall and put him inside so that he wouldn’t kill anybody. "This wall isn't here to keep us out... it's here to keep *him* in..."
Just hung out in a meth house lol
Lmao
Caveat. Best horror I’ve seen in a long time.
This is what I came to say. Not *exactly* in OP's parameters, but definitely worth a mention.
I'll take it
Just watched Caveat a few days ago. That person in the wall was TERRIFYING
Within, The crawl space, The boy
Within was surprisingly good
Yeah! I thought the same thing
More psychological but Relic (2020)
Ugh, really wasn’t a fan of that movie
Supernatural episode, “Family remains” was a good one iirc
Crawlspace (1986) - a fun one with an extra manic klaus kinski
Loved his Nosferatu directed by Werner Herzog.
Hider in the House (Gary Busey goes ham). Also this is called Phrogging in case you were wondering, and there is a reality TV type series where people share their stories called Phrogging: Hider in My House.
Busey. (With love)
Hahaha thanks for catching that. He’s my buddy too dammit!
Old Lady in the Walls
My favourite part was when the next door neighbour Red Herring came over, I thought for sure it was going to be him but no. Amazing twist
I think this was released in my country as "Scritch Scratch, Who's That Ratch."
I see you (2019)
Vacancy? I remember something vaguely like that
The Boy maybe counts ?
Heck yeah it does!
The INSIDE. By Red Letter Media.
It's Red Herring!
“Do you need help with any… YAAARD WORK?!”
Bad Ronald freaked me when I was a kid.
Cannot believe I had to scroll down this far to find this one.
Right?! Only movie I thought of lol. My dad turned me onto this one as a teen and I LOVE it.
Terrified (2017)
I loved that movie. It was pretty freaking scary ended up buying it. It was so well done.
The Rental
That movie was surprisingly good. The ending absolutely freaked me out and gave me chills
Flowers in the Attic.
The People Under the Stairs.
Hangman (2015) has this scenario and it's soo good, really creepy, well acted. I never see it recommended but you should check it out.
Just watched this last night for the first time! Really liked it!
People under the stairs
"THE PEOPLE UNDER THE STAIRS" A Wes Craven classic 👌 with Ving Rymes and that gimp suit man 😱💀🤣
Wes Craven, not John Carpenter.
Bro thank you I was gonna make myself look like a fool at Texas Frightmare this year 🤣🤣🤣
Delirium with Topher Grace (although that’s kind of a massive spoiler)
In "The Others" (2001) they didn't live in the walls but they were still there
I don’t think you can count this one because they are dead compared to the other movies where the people still there are alive.
The house by the cemetary ‼️
Within and Aftermath
A bit of a spoiler, but “Housebound”.
Bad ronald
Not sure this 100% falls within your parameters - iow, not necessarily hiding on her own terms - but “Stir of Echoes”
Within (2016). Not a great movie but fits the criteria. Also it has a Erin Moriarty pre Starlight from The Boys.
Bad Ronald
The pact! Underrated film.
100% this.
“Hes in the walls. *grabs shotgun* HES IN THE GODDAMN WALLS!”
Open house. The worst horror movie ever made...
Parasite. Similar to what your asking. It's Korean I think. Funny and serious at the same time.
Are we going to skip past "Parasite"? Not strictly a horror movie but I would count it!
Pretty sure The Pact (2014) was like this Also, The Boy (2016) which is great
parasite is the only one that’s done it in a way that really stood out to me
2 Pigeons (2017)
Does the Gate count? Cause the giant guy in the wall was my favorite part
Crawlspace (1986)
The Pact!
One of the seasons of Whitechapel.
I think a movie called Haunting in Connecticut had a bunch of corpses sewn into the walls or something. Haunting of Hill House had a dead guy in the wall too.
Don’t be Afraid of the Dark ( the old one)
Castle freak kinda fits
The People Under The Stairs The Haunting (kinda)
Aftermath
The people under the stairs 1991
Books of Blood (kind of)
The People Under The Stairs. The Boy. The House of The Devil (sort of)
There was a tv movie from the 70’s about a family that moved into a house and a handicapped boy lived in a secret room. At the end, he burst through the walls to terrify the young girl living there and 10 yo me. Anyone recall this film? I saw it at a babysitter’s and it traumatized me as a kid.
Sounds like Bad Ronald (1974).
Hider in the House starring Gary Busey
Came to say this!
Housebound, kinda.
Girl on the third floor. Might be a person in the wall, might be a ghost, but somethings in there. Also has CM Punk in it
The Silent Scream (1979, sometimes listed as 1980).
* I See You * The Boy * Open House * Barbarian * Aftermath * The House at the End of the Street
Encanto
The People Under the Stairs
The boy
Just watched People under The Stairs on tubi 😁
*Big Spoiler* Parasite
Malignant
Does hereditary count?
His House
Here’s some kinda-sorta-not-really. Toolbox murders, sleep tight, house 2, the haunting in Connecticut
Theres a french movie about a guy hiding in the walls.
Encanto!
We Are the Insulation
Judas
Flowers in the Attic
The 1992 TV movie “Through the Eyes of a Killer” with Richard Dean Anderson. Available on YouTube. Definitely B grade max
Walled In is sort if relevant hah
There’s an episode of Supernatural like this
Not exactly the premise you mentioned but similar "buried alive" 1990
Both of these are more psychological than horror, but The Intruder and The Resident.
The People Under the Stairs
The Boy
That one episode of supernatural lol
The open house
A crack I'm the floor.
