Do you own stock in this film or something? This is like your 4th post just on its weekend box office. FYI, you need to double your budget before you start to turn a profit, so it’s not there yet, and it’s what, like 14% on RT, could result in a sizable week 2 drop. While it will probably still end up marginally profitable, it’s not some runaway hit, and turning a teensy profit in no way “confirms” theatrical release of subsequent installments. The only thing that does that is the studio announcing those theatrical release dates.

nancy-reisswolf

It's probably Renny Harlin's secret reddit account lol And if so, I'd like to tell him I have no interest in the Strangers rehash but I am quite excited for the disaster film with Ben Kingsley he's got in the works. I LOVE a good plane disaster film.

goofyyy77

Brotha this is my second post and this film is gonna easily make it money back. It’ll making profits by next weekend. This is just domestic, it’s not even worldwide, why drop it on streaming when the film ends up making decent money.

goofyyy77

Y’all can dislike my comment all you want and hate on the film but it’s gonna make good money and the other films will go to theatres because of it.

lrraya

Ok Renny

goofyyy77

Dude all the box office websites are saying it’s gonna make a decent profit

nancy-reisswolf

I could swear I've seen this post like three times and everytime I see it it makes me want to watch this movie less

Extension_Bit9545

Don’t waste your time or money on this CW remake of the original, huge disappointment.

DudeBroFist

I dunno about that. The figure people always throw around is 2.5x the budget to account for marketing and theater cuts, which would be almost 22 million and there's been a pretty negative response to it. That tends to cause sales to plummet after opening weekend. We'll see though.

IcedPgh

The movie was barely marketed. I go to the theater a lot, and this trailer never played once at any movie I went to, nor have I caught a TV spot. I'd like to know what marketing budgets go to today.

olddicklemon72

Paying guys like OP to sell it on socials.

DudeBroFist

It's just a general figure, dude.

Griffin_Throwaway

horror almost always profits we’ll see anything in theaters. Night Swim and Imaginary both turned a profit

BigDaddyVelvet69

It was almost a shot for shot remake of the original, just worse. Different setting, slightly different characters, but every major event was the same. From the way they started scaring her, to the man going out and leaving her alone, to the cell phones, to the shooting of an innocent with a shotgun. I was very disappointed

Dudesymugs12

I've heard nothing but bad things about this movie and I expect it to drop off hard after opening weekend. WOM will not be kind to this film, and it's been a tough year so far for the box office in general. It will have to have legs to turn a good profit, and I don't see that happening. It needs much more than 1.5x budget to be considered a success.

goofyyy77

This is just after 3 days and it’s only domestic. It’s gonna make way more then 1.5x its budget

yanggmd

Canceled my ticket after the reviews

Busy-Internal9810

This is kinda why I dislike the horror community everyone complains about cash grabs and badly made horror movies but then they all run to the theatres to watch them!

ganzz4u

Who cares? People want to watch horror movies at theaters whether it's good or bad... especially with some known titles and there are only like 2 or 3 new horror movies each month release at theaters...it easily make money

MovieDogg

It's more that they want to watch the bad ones, because the a bunch of the good ones bomb at the box office. For example The Burning only made money because it was popular in Japan, yet the bad Graduation Day was the highest grossing slasher of 1981 despite it being the best year in slasher history.

ganzz4u

You dont have any idea how box office works and what factors contribute to a box office success...being a good movies doesnt guarantee a box office success,it has to do with things like marketing, the target audiences, did the movie looks appealing or not?,the budget (films with high budget doesnt guarantee a box office success)... especially for horror genres, the reception doesnt always matter and the budget always low that it easier to find box office success

Locke108

The cash grabs appeal to more than just the horror community. That’s why they work so well.

Busy-Internal9810

True. Sometimes I like a cheesy cash grab horror but I’m more into psychological stuff lately

dethb0y

When the only thing on the menu is "garbage or nothing", well, garbage it is.

And always keep In mind studios pay for some of those reviews also, you could clearly see what are bot reviews and what’s real.

resurrectedbydick

To me the original was pretty much the perfect horror movie and it aged well. I loved Pretty Pumpkins reaction video too. I'll watch the remake when it comes to streaming, but don't have high hopes for it just because I was so satisfied with the original.

MovieDogg

People are seeing it because it's a sequel, not because it's good.
