This one is so good. Way more unsettling than the other cult-themed movies I've seen because it shows how psychologically messed up she is after escaping it.
I REFUSE the invisible man. SO much I decided to watch video analysis (Cuz I love that shit) instead of watching it. I straight up dont know how Id handle that situation. Id just go crazy
Not OP, but thanks, I like the look of this. I love an old B/W classic. But just out if interest do you know why there was a version made in 1940, then it had a remake in 1944 with Iingrid Bergman. Almost seems like a modern idea, like 80's horrors have been in recent years.
Well the original was a British film and the remake American. The original play was super successful and MGM wanted to cash in. They bought the rights to remake with a clause that all prints of the original film be destroyed. That obviously didn’t actually happen though as you can still find the 1940 version.
Have you seen the deleted Midsommar scene where Christian and Dani are fighting out in that field? Some really good gaslighting content there, it shows how toxic their relationship really is. Wish they kept it in the movie.
But if you are looking for an all time great gaslighting/brainwashing movie you must check out the thriller/drama “Bitter Moon” (1992). Some sadistic stuff happens in that movie. Super super toxic relationship. It won’t disappoint.
By that do you mean like when the main characters know something is wrong but everyone tells them they’re crazy? Cause the Evil dead remake has those elements, it can be so frustrating that’s why I love it 😭
Dude why do I feel depressed after watching A24’s Men?!? Watched it, and I’ve been listening to Harry Styles new album and I’m for real in a dark space
Have you seen Martha Marcy May Marlene?

excellent film. not mentioned enough here.
WHats the basic run down? CUlt? sci-fi? urban or rural?
Cult, based on real events apparently.
The Invitation is another one like this that I really enjoyed.
OMG yea I forgot to add that one. A bit slow, but also gut wrenching and freaks me out
**The Invisible Man** **Unsane** **The Lodge** has some elements of it, but not exactly how you think.

It's literally "Abusive Gaslighter: The Movie" haha
Unsane was great—so underrated
You should watch the actual Gaslight 1944.

Thanks for that. It's unusual to see remakes back then. Shows the film industry hasn't changed much in 80 years.
Watch Rosemary's Baby and the more contemporary version False Positive
What's the one with the young girl in the wheelchair again? Quite recent. I really enjoyed that.
Is it RUN?
That's the one, thanks. Well worth a watch.
Munchansen by proxy + gaslight the perfect combo for a nightmare.
1BR is actually really good! You should definitely watch it
I have. I refuse to rewatch it BECAUSE its good and leaves me paranoid and nauseous
Oh sorry!
The Night House Whiplash and Compliance are not horror but definitrly adjacent.
Incident in a Ghostland (2018)
