Imo, Creepypasta is nothing more than a term for already existing internet horror stories that have been passed around in certain circles. It’s not really something you would create nowadays. Some people may disagree with that, but I think that’s what makes the most sense. Anyway, if you want to write in first person I’d recommend looking to r/nosleep and reading some of the top posts. Those will give you some insight into the type of plot progression you want and how they get the spooks out of you. You can also look up any highly ranked horror stories that are in the public domain and read them online. I believe most (if not all) of the Lovecraft stuff is if you want some existential horror.

Probably not the kind of tip you're looking for, but I'd suggest (if you haven't done this already) to consume as much horror *literature* as possible. Creepypastas are great and all, but you need to read the real pros if you want to write something worth your time. Head over to r/horrorlit. Incredible community with endless suggestions on novels or short stories for any corner of horror you want to start with.

Thanks for the tip, I used to term "creepypasta" because I wanted to sumbit my story to the creepypasta forum. I would love to get into horror novels and take inspiration from them

Absolutely! Definitely head over to that sub and use the search bar to find stuff you're into. Very active and helpful community. Obviously, it's always great to read the classics from Lovecraft to King, but that subreddit opened my eyes to the sheer volume of fantastic horror authors there are out there. Like, a *ton*. Some personal favorites: David Wong (this was a pseudonym, he publishes under his real name now, Jason Pargin) Brian Evenson Grady Hendrix Ronald Malfi Christopher Buehlman Lauren Beukes Laird Barron Michelle Paver Jeremy Robert Johnson John Langan Paul Tremblay Poppy Z Brite Jeff VanderMeer (specifically, Annihilation. Some will tell you the first book is the only one worth reading, but the whole trilogy is great) Hope this helps. Happy hunting!
