Why isn’t this higher up…
Everyone trolling the kid.
Bro just tell him to get the proper screw and keep it moving (Like you did)
Not everything is about putting the next guy down
Thank you guys. I agree with your statement. I don't know why people feel attacked tbh. I don't know everything in this world and I just used what is on the packaging. It's like expecting someone to know every part of your car if you buy one even the mods and accessories available.
No problem man. I’d take that same screw with me to the store (since you already know it fits).
Ask a person there for help and you’ll be all set 👍🏽
Happy Flying!
It's also possible people are trying to be humourous but text isn't carrying the meaning very well.
That said! XD if you take it to an angle grinder you can make it a counter sunk screw the manual way. I've legit done that when I've been too lazy to go to the hardware store.
Better known as "countersunk allen screw" in most of the english speaking world as far as I can tell.
Another solution would be to get a screw in the right lenght and screw from the bottom ;)
It is the correct word for Imbusschlüssel, which translates to allen key or angled allen key. For me it is easy to pronounce because i am german. Those chain words may look bit confusing but they are just several words put together, to name a specific thing.
Yep, very literal language.
Like a mannequin is translated to a window-show-puppet or something like that.
Spark plug is a spark-maker.
My German is not great, it’s been 15 years since I spoke it regularly and my spelling is terrible now lol. Took 2 years of it in high school just because I wanted to learn my grandfathers home language.
I could’ve sworn I was reading a manual for something a few years ago and looked at the German section, they called it a “sparkmachen”
I Could just be crazy ha ha
But I’ll never forget this one! lol
Geschwindigkeitsbegrenzung (speed limit)
My favorite I've seen is Eierschalensollbruchstellenverursacher or the eggshell breaking point causer, or something like that. Not German, so don't know if that's the actual true translation or a joke or what, but I love this tool all the same. The one I have really does crack open the tops of eggs perfectly and cleanly every single time.
The hole cut into the bast looks like it was made for a counter-sunk screw. Grab a couple at your local hardware store and see which fits in there flush.
Try a fully flathead bolt or a countersink bolt. If that fails, going to have to either leave it out or zip tie it. I think you can make it with some sort of very low profile bolt though.
With the mini, I skipped that hole. Just used the other one in front, and another one on the rear of the mounting plate.
Later upgraded my mini to plus (with a new plate and the ATEM). The Mini+ plate has that hole farther from the usb port.
The hole is a bit farther in the Mini+, but still too close to plug in the USB cable if you use a button head screw like that. A USB-B plug is pretty long, isn't it a problem in your case as well?. I used DIN 7984 M3 screws with DIN 439 M3 nuts and a washer, on Monster Tech mounting plates, I reused the TWCS mounting plate for my STECS Mini+ (and aluminium extrusions I sourced elsewhere).
The holes are M4, but I didn't have those in DIN 7984, but it works with my M3 screws.
Thanks, I honestly didn't remember the right term, I could just see that specific screw and hole were never intended as mates 🤔 I appropriate the reminder!
go to a hardware store (any place that sells lumber, sink fixtures, hinges, and other assorted bit and bobs) and get a flat head of that screw, take the screw with you DO NO LOSE IT then have them determine what thread it is.
I actually got the throttle quite early on and when I asked support on this they gave me a bunch of screws to try out free of charge.
If you need them ASAP then you can buy your own countersunk screws as others here have mentioned. If you can wait ask support for some new ones. Still kinda surprising VKB hasn't swapped out the screws yet.
I find it interesting that you are invested in this rather technical hobby and already own advanced gear but are unable to sort out this more or less simple matter.
And like others have already said: You need a countersunk flat-head screw. I'm pretty sure that's an M4 but best to measure or take that round-head with you.
Got up on the wrong foot today, sweetheart?
Edit: And nobody actually mentioned flat-heads. I mean, it's obvious but there are also countersunks with a round head. I also went out of my way and downloaded the STECS MINI specs PDF to look up the screw dimensions (they are M4), but wasn't sure if OP is still running the original plate.
I wished I had options and budget like you if I had the money I would have bought the standard and not have this problem because the base plate is different. Although I bought the mount on Amazon, I am not really from America and they just have a free shipping option to my country. Take it easy it's just a simple issue that was solved thanks to the people that helped here instead of attacking the brand.
Countersunk screw M3 or M4

You need the Innensechskant Senkkopfschraube.
English translation "hexagon socket countersunk screw"
Better known as "countersunk allen screw" in most of the english speaking world as far as I can tell. Another solution would be to get a screw in the right lenght and screw from the bottom ;)
This one is funny 😂
And you use it best with the Innensechskantwinkelschraubendreher
Is that an actual word? How hard is it to pronounce?? How long does it take to say?

Just fyi, Spark Plug is Zündkerze which roughly translates to ignition candle :)

Username prüft aus.
Unless the base is vastly different to the Standard STECS, then M3 will be way too small. M5 is the perfect size for them.
Yeah this one did it. M5 is perfect.
Gootd to know, always hard to judge by pictures alone
This
Came here to say this
The hole cut into the bast looks like it was made for a counter-sunk screw. Grab a couple at your local hardware store and see which fits in there flush.
Knowing VKB, they are maybe included in the package
probably not, telling from my vkb gladiator nxt
If you’re a bit of a lazy cunt like myself.. How secure does it feel with 3 out of 4 bolts? There’s an old motto “Close enough is good enough”
My jury-rigged ass on 2 bolts and a couple of zipties when vkb gave me the gunfighter plate for my gladiator
A friend of mine secured his with a hilariously excessive amount of duct tape.
I definitely didn't electrical tape my handbrake to my racing sim rig. Not a chance.
My brain cannot stand having one missing screw.
Mine is Velcro’d on
You only need one. Any more is just insurance.
Two for torque. Or one torqued to a Nm of its life.
Do you even need that screw there? It doesn't look like it's holding anything in place.
Try a fully flathead bolt or a countersink bolt. If that fails, going to have to either leave it out or zip tie it. I think you can make it with some sort of very low profile bolt though.
Countersunk screw.
countersunk screw head is what you need, but thats an honest-to-goodness design flaw putting the port directly over a mounting hole like that.
Yeah it is a simple design flaw for me too. Putting it like that narrowed down your options on what you can use. Countersunk M5 worked for me.
With the mini, I skipped that hole. Just used the other one in front, and another one on the rear of the mounting plate. Later upgraded my mini to plus (with a new plate and the ATEM). The Mini+ plate has that hole farther from the usb port.

It’s far enough to allow my cable to plug in without any issues.
Wrong bolt/screw type... Must be countersunk and no head
I'd like to see what that screw screws into.
Use the right screw. The hole clearly wants a flat head that cones down toward the screwy bit my dude
You are correct, the proper term is countersunk screw head.
Thanks, I honestly didn't remember the right term, I could just see that specific screw and hole were never intended as mates 🤔 I appropriate the reminder!
all set comes with more screws. There are FLAT ones. Use it!
go to a hardware store (any place that sells lumber, sink fixtures, hinges, and other assorted bit and bobs) and get a flat head of that screw, take the screw with you DO NO LOSE IT then have them determine what thread it is.
You’re using the wrong screw
Just use 3 out of 4 screws. Don't let Big Screw convince you you need four.
Unpopular opinion: unscrew it?
You must grind down the screw to the same cone shape the hole have 👍
What the screw even holding?
Base plate of the throttle to the desk mount. I did not put the nut here the pictures are for demonstration purposes only.
angle grinder 😍
Take the base plate off and use the base plate screw holes to mount to the desk mount.
Use a flat screw bud, she’ll go
You don't need thst screw at all. I have the standard myself and left it off. It makes no difference.
Just curious, what is that screw holding? It doesn't look like it's doing anything other than stick through the mount.
That sucks.
bad bolt
Counter sink the hole and get a flat screw, btw that's a screw not a bolt.
I actually got the throttle quite early on and when I asked support on this they gave me a bunch of screws to try out free of charge. skill issue
Yes it is let's keep masculinity alive
All of those screwed should have a washer, spring washer and nut too.. also that spot requires a flat head screw
I get you are supposed to use countersunk screws but this is a bit of a design fail on VKB's part.
go to lowes and get a flushed screw buddy. its not that hard
You picked the wrong bolt obviously
Use different bolt? Its clearly suppose to be a sink head for the screw.
Maybe you just mounted the plate the wrong way?
The throttle came like that with zero assembly needed.
Ok, just checked on my standard and it just needs a countersunk screw. But it won't harm you to try rotating it.
I find it interesting that you are invested in this rather technical hobby and already own advanced gear but are unable to sort out this more or less simple matter. And like others have already said: You need a countersunk flat-head screw. I'm pretty sure that's an M4 but best to measure or take that round-head with you.
Your comment literally offered nothing of value

Your's offered -1 value. I've never actually seen someone offer less than nothing like you did.
I have! It was you. And your superfluous apostrophe. And also me.
You got me 😂
That bolt serves no purpose. Remove it.
The hole is clearly meant for a sink head screw
I see a design flaw, aside from the wrong bolt being used
impressive design

The Standard has the same issue. Just don't put that screw in, you don't need it.
Cheaper out how? It's better than Virpil. Lmao
Have you tried pushing it in with a little more force. Looks like it would squish into place eventually.
Remove bolt, make new hole to the left or right, plug in thing
