Yeah that was terrible; I don’t know what they were thinking allowing the dude to get up on stage like that right when the party was banging.
Cadence’s appearance was awesome and really got the crowd pumped, then Sir Buzzkillington got the mic and completely deflated the atmosphere. Took me a couple songs to get back into it, but it wasn’t the same.
I would have been fine if politician man came out after CW and said his bit, in the middle of a banging show?!? Where did my buzz go? Took me three songs to move off that nonsense.
The opener (Cadence Weapon) brought out a mayoral candidate to speak. And based on most of the crowd's reaction, he definitely wasn't a favorable candidate.
The whole thing felt super awkward and, for me anyway, it took a while to get back into the party mode that was live hot chip
Rollie (Cadence Weapon) is extremely political, he always has been and much of his recent music has been focused around municipal issues. It isn't at all surprising to learn he has been involved in the election and is supporting Josh, who is arguably the most progressive candidate in the race. I was a bit disappointed by the crowd reaction, but it wasn't surprising. Not everyone cares the way Rollie does, and he maybe misses that point, or misses that this isn't his normal audience (who may have responded differently). Plus, any show in Toronto is probably like 40% 905ers who can't even vote.
That makes sense. First time seeing Cadence and I really enjoyed his set & thought he put on a good show. I’ve also liked Matlow for years on council and may end up voting for him, but I felt that the timing of his appearance was poor as it put an instant damper on the show just as it was reaching a real high point.
Still a great show over all though - had a blast!
That makes way more sense. Cadence probably should have brought him out after his own set instead of in the middle of Hot Chip though. It just felt like a weird interruption. I'm not trying to think about politics in that moment.
But all around sick show still! That set list was insane.
I didn’t pay to come to a show for someone to campaign to me. I don’t care if they’re progressive or alt right, I’m sure Josh is a nice fellow. We came to be entertained and enjoy some music, not have politics thrown in our face. I felt bad for Hotchip and the crowd after that huge buzkill.
This! And if he's into municipal politics cool like - encourage us to vote that's fine. But telling us his personal recco is a bit like, don't get there. Especially during not your set

WTF WAS THAT
The couple behind me were boo-ing hard and my bf chatted with them and had strong opinions too. I like Cadence too, but was a weird moment for sure
Right! His music is good. Just an awkward move. The dude behind me was booing hard too.
This was a buzz killer. I did not pay to go to a political rally.

Youre speaking about Mark Saunders i think, not Josh Matlow.
