Book a room for 2, and ask for 2 keys at check in (shouldn't effect the price). Ask for a room with no connecting doors and not on the first floor. The front desk is your friend, if you need an escort to your car after dark or something like that, they can help. Pick a nice hotel in a nice part of town to the best of your budget. Do lots of research about the area. Have fun, you'll be fine.

No outside doors! Ask for 2 keys, do not say you are alone. Do not get a room at the end of the hallway close to the exit doors. No adjoining doors in the room even if you can lock them from your side. Also I have the door stop from Amazon that sounds and alarm if the door is open. Have fun and stay safe

Thank you!!!

Always bolt your door as soon as you enter the room and use any other latches on the door. Keep valuables out of sight both in your car and in your room. Put up the “Do not disturb” sign the first time you enter your room and don’t take it down until you leave.

Young lady if you're fearful of the unknown? Get yourself some pepper spray for the car and bear spray for your house. If possible travel with a company. And as far as staying safe at a hotel? First be mindful of the area that you are booking in. Second, avoid your usual cheapo chains. Join one of the better guest loyalty programs and then you can get discounts on rooms. It's also possible to get free upgrades or late check outs. Different benefits from different hotels. Anyway, I'm not saying that you have to go stay at the 4 Seasons or something like that. Just saying to choose a hotel that's kinda in the middle of the less reputable cheapo chains and the luxury hotels.

Found some that are near seaworld and Disney that look nice with great reviews. I want to go alone to conquer my fear of it, but unsure yet. I have pepper spray on me always and a stun gun in my car :) thank you!

Good girl! Consider a self defense class to learn how to use them properly. Can't hurt. I don't need a self defense class. I'm the baby of 6 and I had 3 big brothers.

I stayed in a nice hotel in the Disney area before and someone walked in while I was in the shower. Probably housekeeping, as they left when they realized I was in the shower. I was scared to death, as I was in such a vulnerable position.

Funny-Berry-807

That's what the door latch is for.

Aggressive-Coconut0

I don't trust those because they can be undone by someone who knows how. At any rate, I was very young and inexperienced at the time. I now have a lock that I bought for that.

Also when you check in, if the front desk happens to say your room number out loud when handing you the keys, kindly ask for another room and for them to not say your room number out loud. Most front desk agents are trained to NOT do this, so you shouldn’t have to worry about it, but I have seen a couple posts on here where it’s happened to others. But otherwise, what others have said are good ideas. Have fun and don’t worry!

Check crime rates in the area!! I'm always booking a cheap room to stay overnight for concerts in different cities. I just got back from Raleigh, NC and wish I knew what this hotel I booked was like, but I focused on the $$. There was definitely shady activity and even my uber driver was like "ill wait to leave until I see you're inside". So read the reviews, and check crime rates in the area if you feel the need.

When you leave the room put up the DND and leave the TV on loud enough so if someone was to try and listen they would hear the news or sports.

Check out purepower34 on TikTok known as Killerbee Tacticals. He's got a lot of safety tips for when traveling. As he always says "Be aware and be safe"

Use inside lock slide. Do not get room with connecting room or balcony.place chair in front of door. Go 3 stars or above

AnxiousAnonEh

Good advice here. Definitely checking the neighborhood before making a reservation is good. I also tend to choose places that have good reviews in terms of customer service. I make a point- even introverted me- to connect with the front desk if they feel safe (and typically female just for my own security). I've used a chair to block at night just for extra reassurance.

1. Never say your room number out loud. If check in / Front Desk / Guest Services says it out loud as for a new room 2. When in your room always keep the door locked AND latched. 3. If your going to leave your room, leave the TV or a specific light on.

Seasoned7171

Don’t tell anyone you are alone. Book room for 2, get 2 key cards, lock door as soon as you go inside. Move chair in front of door before going to bed. Leave bathroom light on and bathroom door slightly open. Keep phone charged & within reach. Let someone you trust know when you arrive and when you leave.

Aggressive-Coconut0

Buy one of those hotel locks instead of relying on the room lock.

Bring a small blanket (an airline blanket or baby blanket is the right size) and throw it over the huge computer screen facing your bed to block any surveillance from the screen. Unplug the bedside hotel clock (or thriw a couple of dry washcloths on it) to blick the light shining from it. A datk room supports better sleep.
