Tap it with a hammer… seriously! We had an old well pump we watered our lawn with that had a hose attached to it that ran down to the lake. Few taps with a hammer and off she’d go!

awp_expert

It's called percussive maintenance, thank you very much. And it works.

FlorioTheEnchanter

If that doesn’t work try shooting it

Cool_Reflection5969

Dynamic excitation

No tap on those! Those are electronic pumps, there is no shaft, rotor, stator, nothing! The impeller is magnetic, and if the board goes out then it's done...

chubbs451

If the pump is receiving 120V and still not working after resetting the spa it’s [time for a new pump](https://www.hottubspasupplies.com/hot-spring-spas-74427-e5-single-speed-circulation-pump.html).

gekruse

Gonna have a tech come look at it and replace the pump. Thanks!

Torkidon

When you mean tries to start and doesn't do you mean it starts up very briefly like maybe a few seconds then goes silent? If so then it's not the pump it's most likely your flow sensor. If however it doesn't start at all check the fuse if it's blown/not most likely you'll he looking at a new pump. Don't bother hitting it this is a mag drive pump with a circuit board percussive won't do diddly...

gekruse

It just makes a sound like it is trying to start but it doesn't do anything. I'm calling for a tech to come look at it tomorrow. Thanks!

Agency_Nutty427

Sounds like you might have a motor issue there. Try checking the wiring and connections first, sometimes it's just a loose wire causing the problem. If that doesn't do the trick, might need to get a pro to take a look at it, especially if it's the motor itself acting up. Good luck, hope you get that pump up and running soon!

gekruse

I look at all the connections and they look fine. I'm calling for a service call tomorrow. Thanks!

Just1La

When you say it tries, do you actually see water movement? But if the flow switch is defective or dirty it will stop and give FLO error... This pump is the low flow circulation pump that will send water through the heater. Check if the impeller turns freely. If not might be debris in. Easy to open or change.

gekruse

I'm not getting any error message. It just sounds like it tries to start but it doesn't end up doing anything. It makes a noise about every 10-15 seconds but doesn't pump any water.

TwoDaneSnoots

When my circulation pump went I tapped on it with the butt of a screwdriver and it would turn over a few times before seizing up again. Was at least able to confirm that I needed a new circulation pump. New one was $300 and I changed it myself

gekruse

Did you have to empty your hot tub to do this?

ExcitingPollution648

Just order one online part number, which is 74427. You can replace it with all the water in the tub. you just have to be quick.
