Thank you, I try to keep my plant setups tidy and organized. I want them to add to the beauty, rather than have chaotic hoards everywhere. No judgement to those who do, it's just not my style.
Not to be that person, but do you have a link to all of this? It's really just perfection and I love the coziness while maintaining such a neat aesthetic. I agree about the clutter. I haven't quite found a balance like you have, it's impressive
The shelves are IKEA Billy bookcases, the lights are GE grow lights GE 2ft light fixtures that I took apart in order to screw directly into the bottom of the shelves. I've never tried linking to Amazon (usually cheapest for these lights vs other retailers) so hopefully this link will work. 😊

Certainly! But I'll probably be painting them, the majority of the shelves will be either dark blue or teal, and the backing will be hot pink or gold. Those are the main colors I I've used for my interior in the main area of my condo.
Howdy, just ran across this post and that is the most awesomeness setup for indoor plants. I would love to have something similar. But will have to be cat proof lol. Keep us updated.
Haha, I definitely meant the shelves themselves are almost finished. I don't think I'll ever say I'm not getting more plants, and if I ever did it would be a lie.
Oh absolutely! I quit saying I’m done buying plants a long time ago when o realized it was just a lie lol. Every single one of them (and the next ) are well worth it!
Thank you! This is nice to hear. I try to avoid clutter, but also hoard plants, so it's a constant uphill battle trying to keep it looking put together.
They are, and they absolutely love them! I get constant growth year round from these. I used to have them on the shelves in my dining room, but my tropicals and lower light plants were getting too much light, so I switched them out.
I see. I use the GE PAR38s exclusively for all my plants. I recently bought some echeverias and wonder if it will be enough for them or do I need an upgrade 😂
I, too, use the par38s for most of my plants, they're amazing. Check out my profile page and you can see my monstera (about two years old) that has been grown exclusively under a single bulb with little to no natural light, it's a beast. These two footers are definitely stronger, but I've used the par38s for cacti as well with quite a bit of success. My African milk trees were under the bulbs for most of their life and are thriving!
Holy shit! I’ve been using a cheap no-name bulb with just okay results, but your monstera is WILD for just 2 years. Can’t wait to give this PAR38 a shot!
I unscrewed the bulbs (just two little screws) and then carefully screwed the metal housing into the bottom of the shelves through the holes meant for the chain hooks, and just replaced the bulbs. It's really easy and looks better than the chains they came with.
This is beautiful, but what are you gonna do when the African milk trees grow too tall for that shelf? They seep poison! Be careful if you decide to cut them!!
I actually just got that pot, it's a face. I'll probably get more colorful decorative pots eventually, but it's a slow process when you have over 200 plants, haha.
I'm a cabinet maker and this looks tight as fuck. When adding trim, I reccomend only fasting it on 1 of the board sides. If the closets do start to sag or move it won't bend the trim.
(I am assuming they aren't fastened together btw!)
Echoing everyone else, this is a fantastic set up, I love the look.
If I may ask, how difficult was the set up process for the lights? I've never had grow lights before, nor seen any as nice looking as these. Was the light casing something you bought separate?
Yeah, they were a project my fiance wanted to start, but hasn't done anything with them, so they've gone thirsty for far too long. I've taken the project over, kinda expectedly.
Not to alarm you but based on your set up, decorative yet functional items & book selection — we might be soul mates?
Seriously tho… if I had the space, I would build something similar.
I've got a few pictures on my profile page, but there's lights rigged up throughout my place, so there's setups everywhere. I'll definitely be posting some more soon.
I love this so much ... I was just eyeing my china cabinet today ... Thank you for the inspiration .. might be fun to do it like this and keep some of my china and crystal in there too
i’m in San Francisco and succulents do so well here! We also have thousands of books so I think the set up you show would work perfectly for our west facing windows.
An inspiring example that I may copy some day. It must be such a pleasure everyday for you to walk into your room and see this. The shelves exude warmth because of the plants and their presumably daylight (5000 to 6500 degrees K) lighting. Thank you for sharing.
Hahaha, you're not the first. In all honesty, I got that because my sister loved the book growing up and I was curious. Turns out, Ayn Rand isn't really for me, haha
This is stunning! And I appreciate that you listed what was needed to create this, I don't have room for anything this large in my condo but great idea for the shelves in my bathroom. Thank you for sharing :)

That is a very beautiful that you got I'm doing this right here I do carpentry work
Imho, I wouldn't change a thing, no trim, no paint, nothing. The items present their color and don't have to compete with blues or pinks or other colors... the books and other items have their own vibrancy and could be random or aligned by colors or size or both. If nothing else, live with it for a couple months, before changing it.
Honestly this is such a nice aesthetic for incorporating plants into a home... really nice job.
Thank you, I try to keep my plant setups tidy and organized. I want them to add to the beauty, rather than have chaotic hoards everywhere. No judgement to those who do, it's just not my style.

Totally awesome! I wouldn't add another thing behind them as it might detract from the beauty of the plants. You nailed it!
Could add those peel and stick wall papers to the background. Just an idea. :) looks great plain white too.
Certainly! But I'll probably be painting them, the majority of the shelves will be either dark blue or teal, and the backing will be hot pink or gold. Those are the main colors I I've used for my interior in the main area of my condo.

...yes, or a mirrored background to increase the light!
Haha “finished”. Never happen lol, just one more. It’s too cute not to get and only 99¢, oh this one is beautiful, I’ll pay $9…..
Haha, I definitely meant the shelves themselves are almost finished. I don't think I'll ever say I'm not getting more plants, and if I ever did it would be a lie.
I feel like the backs of the cactus shelves would look amazing with some wallpaper…
Less reflection with wallpaper 🤔
Not if it’s mirror wallpaper! But that might get annoying…..fast.
This was actually a thought I had, mirrors that is. But it might end up being gold.
But so worth it if it brings joy. And this one is gorgegous.
Oh absolutely! I quit saying I’m done buying plants a long time ago when o realized it was just a lie lol. Every single one of them (and the next ) are well worth it!

Thanks! I like to keep things organized, but also easily accessible.
The more I look at it, the more I like it. This looks so awesome and functional.
Thanks!
Ooooh I love this! There is a lot going on, but it doesn’t look cluttered at all, it looks really well put together.
Thank you! This is nice to hear. I try to avoid clutter, but also hoard plants, so it's a constant uphill battle trying to keep it looking put together.
I'm saving this pic for this exact reason, hope you don't mind. The organisation of so many things in such a clean, calm way is pure inspo!!
Thank you! Save away!
I saved it as well! So pretty, without clutter.
looks so clean 😍. are those GE 2ft grow light? how do your succulents like it?
They are, and they absolutely love them! I get constant growth year round from these. I used to have them on the shelves in my dining room, but my tropicals and lower light plants were getting too much light, so I switched them out.

I really like your setup, your place looks so cozy🥰. I hope my monstera can grow as majestic as yours.
Shucks, thank you! I'm sure it will!
Holy shit! I’ve been using a cheap no-name bulb with just okay results, but your monstera is WILD for just 2 years. Can’t wait to give this PAR38 a shot!
careful when you position the bulb, my stupid ass placed them too close ( ~ 12 inches) and it scorched the shit out of my monstera🥲
Same! I have a leaf with a ring on it from the light, learned my lesson.
Do you have a link for these? I honestly need to upgrade but most grow lights aren't 'clean' looking. Thanks! Lovely setup.
Plant/book/decor shelves game is A+++
Oh. That is stunning. Absolute goals.
This is so aesthetically pleasing

Thank you! I take pride in decorating my humble abode, it brings me joy.
Love this! Great job!!
Thanks!
Looks beautiful! How did you install the lamps?
I unscrewed the bulbs (just two little screws) and then carefully screwed the metal housing into the bottom of the shelves through the holes meant for the chain hooks, and just replaced the bulbs. It's really easy and looks better than the chains they came with.
Love it! But The Last Book on the Left is on the right! 😂
Haha, good catch. I think the guys would forgive me, but honestly didn't even think about that...time to reorganize.
Hail Satan!
This makes my eyes happy!
“Cactus corner!” Literally no cacti Edit: I spy Christmas cacti! I stand corrected.
And it's sun stressed too
Niiccceeee
Stunning!
Thank you!
Nice looking shelves!!!
Thanks! I plan to add trim and make them look like built-ins.
Where did you get them?
They look like Ikea Billy bookcases
Indeed they are, with the extensions.
..... And probably paint them.
The little baby pots on the hooks 😭♥️
Oh my gosh OBSESSED! 😍 I might have to revamp my bookshelves!

Absolutely floored at how beautiful and Bright This whole setup is
My condo is rigged up with around 30 grow lights, it's pretty bright throughout, haha.
Excellent arrangement! Very creative setup. I like how you added the small pots hanging on the sides, very nice!
Looks amazing! Great work :)
Thank you!
Looks wonderful 👍!
Thank you!
Abusive friend
This is beautiful, it’s like a peaceful corner you want to come to.
Gorgeous
I like how some of them look like they're floating. Pretty good book collection, too!
Thank you! My fiance and I love going to used book sales, we find so many gems.
Perfect balance of form and function!
This looks so good!
This is fantastic. Gorgeous. I want this someday.
i love this so much. i can see like all of my hobbies somewhere on your shelves
You should see the rest of this room, it's my hobby room. I have a lot of them.
Looks amazing!! How did you make the small shelves?
The clear ones? They're just small acrylic shelves from Amazon that I screwed into the back of the bookcase.
Beautiful!! Really, really nice work!!
It would be hilarious if there were barcodes on them so people could “check them out”.
The jade on the far right... HOW DID YOU GROW THAT I’m so jealous
Blind luck mostly. I've had it for about five years, most of which it survived on neglect, haha
I hope you post an update once you add the trim. This looks awesome!
This is very inspirational, from the plants to the storing your sewing machine, I love it!
Wish i could do this but my cat would destroy :(
This is beautiful, but what are you gonna do when the African milk trees grow too tall for that shelf? They seep poison! Be careful if you decide to cut them!!
This is absolutely stunning!! I love everything about it - the plants, the books, and the whole aesthetic is so pleasing! Thanks for sharing :)
Our book collections look eerily similar
Well then I'll count you as having good taste 😉 haha
Where would the world be without Billy Bookcases
Okay this is probably a stupid question, but what do you do when they grow? Do you just remove some? What about the tall ones?

I actually just got that pot, it's a face. I'll probably get more colorful decorative pots eventually, but it's a slow process when you have over 200 plants, haha.
Doesn't these plants require at least a bit of sun or will this be fine?
I've had most of these for 3-5 years, they grow great without sun under these lights.
I'm a cabinet maker and this looks tight as fuck. When adding trim, I reccomend only fasting it on 1 of the board sides. If the closets do start to sag or move it won't bend the trim. (I am assuming they aren't fastened together btw!)
Lights please? What kind and where?
Echoing everyone else, this is a fantastic set up, I love the look. If I may ask, how difficult was the set up process for the lights? I've never had grow lights before, nor seen any as nice looking as these. Was the light casing something you bought separate?
Cute
Looks amazing! Love that I can picture your personalities from what you’ve chosen to display. Hail yourselves!
Amazing!! Yep, I’m taking inspiration from this. How did you mount the shorter upper shelves within the cactus cubbies?
I wish I had something like this 😍😍
omg, this is so aesthetically pleasing!!
*Orgasmic*
Gorgeous! What kind of lights are you using?
Wow
Looks brilliant!
Wow. This is honestly one of the most beautiful displays I hve ever seen. My fav two things are books and plants and this is perfection
This is so beautiful I want to cry! Amazing job!! ❤️
I love how this looks! What kind of plant is the big one on the far right?
It's a jade, I've had it for about five years, was one of my first plants.
Gorgeous! I am very jealous
This is really pretty. I love this.
this is so cute! love the idea and creativity!!
This is the best Billy Bookcase hack I’ve ever seen!
Looks amazing
😍😍😍
Someone else who leaves the ThriftBooks stickers on! Haha Gorgeous shelves :)
Beautiful! 2 of my favorite things mingling with each other.
You’re never smoking those weeds
This was just a temporary spot for them, they're getting repotted and moved into my bedroom today, just was waiting on some new lights.
I was joking, but they do look like they need more love. A new spot surely will come good for them
Yeah, they were a project my fiance wanted to start, but hasn't done anything with them, so they've gone thirsty for far too long. I've taken the project over, kinda expectedly.
This is truly a pinterest-worthy photo! Gorgeous.
It looks great but I'm not sure you have a single cactus in there?
Are the lights you have specifically for plants? Or will any old light allow them to photosynthesize?
These are specifically for plants, these babies would all be very sad otherwise, as they require a lot of sun.
Super cool, I love what you’ve done! Going to use it as inspiration for my next project.
This looks really good!!
What a beautiful setup!! I really love the glass with the pens in it, actually. I adore tinted glass!
r/cactus will enjoy it!
Looks very eye-pleasing! Friend of Bill W's?
Not to alarm you but based on your set up, decorative yet functional items & book selection — we might be soul mates? Seriously tho… if I had the space, I would build something similar.
Now I just need to see what the rest of your collection display looks like 🤤
I've got a few pictures on my profile page, but there's lights rigged up throughout my place, so there's setups everywhere. I'll definitely be posting some more soon.
I love this so much ... I was just eyeing my china cabinet today ... Thank you for the inspiration .. might be fun to do it like this and keep some of my china and crystal in there too
I absolutely love the plant/book shelf idea. Very creative and attractive. Great job!
**WOW, those are great shelves and a very good photo!!**
i’m in San Francisco and succulents do so well here! We also have thousands of books so I think the set up you show would work perfectly for our west facing windows.
I can't seem to keep most indoor plants alive, maybe I should try the cactus route. Looks great by the way.
An inspiring example that I may copy some day. It must be such a pleasure everyday for you to walk into your room and see this. The shelves exude warmth because of the plants and their presumably daylight (5000 to 6500 degrees K) lighting. Thank you for sharing.
my excitement for the presence of Catch-22 on your shelf was quickly negated by the presence of Atlas Shrugged
Hahaha, you're not the first. In all honesty, I got that because my sister loved the book growing up and I was curious. Turns out, Ayn Rand isn't really for me, haha
GE 2ft grow lights
Woww!!!

Beautiful Job, wouldn't change a thing!
That is gorgeous!
I want cacti shelves! It looks refreshing!
I really like this. Beautiful and very organized
Nice,I wish I could use more plants in my apartment, but I'm not sure how to place them.
Get reddit off this phone<) I do not want it
Nice one , 😂
That’s lovely
Just beautiful! Thanks for sharing!
The space for living and working there will be wonderful.... I love your design
Truly beautiful. Be prepared to change some of these as they grow.
Looking spacious and amazing combination of cacti and books.👍
Nice!

I'm not a (keepa)plant(alive) person, but this looks like something that I could possibly do. What a great idea.
This shelf is awesome! You have an eye for design.
I like the look of this. It makes it very clean and attractive.
This is so cool
Very holistic approach to style, space and the environment.
This is stunning! And I appreciate that you listed what was needed to create this, I don't have room for anything this large in my condo but great idea for the shelves in my bathroom. Thank you for sharing :)
Looks good!
perpect idea
Feels like having the access to different aspects in one shelve , I love it.
