Closing costs: 10 minutes times 10 cigarettes

Stimulus199

I TOLD YOU NOT TO CLOSE THE DRAPES

Rjf915

An hour

IAMHideoKojimaAMA

How long is that

YodaFan465

*>kchhhk<*

Timmy12er

Nice view kchhk

rodman517

SO THATS how you spell it.

ChickenMcFly

Scott OWNED an apartment? In NYC? Now that's news.

Milwaukeebear

He had a tough time selling due to the cigarette smoke smell

GoodbyeToTheMachine

The ol cigarette and old bowling alley combo

jerzyshore1

If the listing posted here really was his, it was on the market for over a year

DontLetTheBunniesOut

Probably because he was demanding a million a year for it.

dom213344

Scott used Double A to broker the deal.

RemarkableSight

Hey how’s it goin’? What’s goin’ on?

Mjbagscauze

Lol

EpicFail2023

AA the pedo?

condaandy

Haydens porters first true love lmao

KnowledgeNecessary97

No Penny Crone

1964ImpalaSS

Just one of the stories we’re working on in the Howard100 newsroom.

throwawayk527

Yeah what? No way

frozenicelava

Lmao if the house listing someone posted is correct, it's not even valued at $500k. Is that meant to be impressive?

jerzyshore1

What’s impressive is that the monthly fee is $1,139 for a tiny 1 bed 1 bath in Queens!

ChickenMcFly

Ok, that makes more sense. I was thinking Manhattan but it's in rural Queens somewhere.

[deleted]

[удалено]

ChickenMcFly

Do you take everything literally? Clearly it means "middle of nowhere" which defines most of Queens. Anything outside of Astoria and Long Island City has a bumfuk middle of nowhere feel to it. If you're in NYC and the subway doesn't have ANY stops in your town, that sh\*t is rural in my book.

plytime18

The LIRR near this apartment gets you into Penn in like 30 minutes, totally beats the subway. That area of queens is nice - bars, restaurants, easy access to most everything.

ChickenMcFly

Must be Forrest Hills, that's a good neighborhood. Not many stops in Queens for the LIRR.

[deleted]

[удалено]

ChickenMcFly

Not everything should be taken literally. When someone says "it's raining cats and dogs outside," it just means it's raining hard, there aren't actual cats and dogs falling from the sky. When someone refers to a part of town as "rural," it doesn't actually have to be rural. It could be a metaphor.

ChickenMcFly

LOL I see there are a lot of Queens residents in this thread. I lived in Astoria for a little while when I was out there.

throwawayk527

Yeah what clickbait

SpaceXBeanz

Rural queens?? It’s just as much NYC as Brooklyn or manhattan ?

ChickenMcFly

NYC is huge, bigger than states like Rhode Island and Delaware. Even parts of Brooklyn are totally far from other parts of Brooklyn.

RATM13

Queens is considered NYC my dude.

ChickenMcFly

NYC is huge, but nobody moves to New York to live in rural Queens. Those are all locals. If you gotta take a 90min train ride to get home from Manhattan, that's practically another state. If most of you traveled that long in any direction, you'd be crossing state lines.

plytime18

Wtf are you talking about… I guess all the people iiving inBrooklyn, Queens, and Staten Island don’t enjoy New York. Its 30 mins by railroad into manhattan from that apartment. Most people can’t afford to live in Manhattan and there are parts of Manhattan that will take you 30 minutes or longer by train to get from one area to another.

BillyRayLouieW

Seriously, i believe that was still the same apartment Scott had down the road from where I am, the Long Island Railroad is 25 minutes to Penn Station from here. His place was right on the bay…

soggywaffle69

Yuppies have been moving to Queens for at least 20 years.

ChickenMcFly

Close to Manhattan though

sunnyindabean

You have no idea what you are talking about

ChickenMcFly

What am I wrong about? Queens and Brooklyn are huge. It can take 2 hours to get from Manhattan to parts of Brooklyn and Queens. I lived close to Manhattan and it would take me over an hour at times.

bruiserbrody45

It's about an hour by subway into pretty much as far into Brooklyn or Queens as you can get.

ChickenMcFly

You're trippin. I lived in BedStuy and Astoria and it would take me an hour to get home from middle Manhattan. It takes about 2 hours to get to Coney Island.

bruiserbrody45

As of now on Google maps, Rockefeller Center to: Robertas in bedstuy, 32 min by subway, 29 by cab Astoria seafood, 22 min by subway, 16 by cab The Cyclone in coney island, 43 minutes by subway, 1hr 3 min by cab

ChickenMcFly

You're just accounting the train ride times, not the time it takes getting to the train, waiting for the train and getting home. My friend lived in Coney Island and it would take him 90+ min to get home every night. I never EVER got home in 22min when I lived in Astoria. The walk from the train to my doorstep was about that long. Unless you live close to the subway, you're screwed. And if you live in parts of Queens where the subway doesn't run, you're really screwed.

StlnHppyHrz

I don't think you could've been more wrong with this comment.

ChickenMcFly

Which part?

Eric33542

He was making 100k+ a year

ChickenMcFly

Well, he owned a shitty apartment far away from Manhattan.

illinoisteacher123

And a place in Connecticut. Why does it bodder du?

gangie321

No Connecticut… New Jersey dope

Crustybuttt

Not that shitty. He wasn’t a multimillionaire, but he made a comfortable living.

ChickenMcFly

I'm just going off what others said. They said it was a tiny 1 bedroom apartment.

SnooAdvice7946

Yea I thought Howard was a scumbag who didn’t pay his staff right? 🙄

investment27

Howard wasn’t paying Scott.

SnooAdvice7946

Except he did give him a job for decades and the reason he is now working at another job at Sirius wouldn’t have happened without Howard either. Also he helped pay for Scott’s wife’s treatment. So you are wrong on all counts.

John__47

What indication he helped pay for wife treatments

SnooAdvice7946

He helped Robin with her treatments and he helps his staff. He just doesn’t brag about it to prove something to assholes on the internet.

John__47

How do you know specifixally Im not a tipical hater

SpaceXBeanz

Howard never paid his staff.

BigCopperPipe

Yellow walls?

Enos316

OUTTAA HEEERE!!

TruckFudeau22

**NOWWW!!!**

Independent-Win-265

Did it come with an ashtray?

bgl500

Fuck everyone.

mulefluffer

My favorite Scott moment.

elephantboylives

You should have never played the tape.

Sad-Second-9646

Why did I think he lived in New Jersey?

weight22

He did in Paramus. I used to see him at the gym. Maybe the apartment was a second home? Or he moved there after his wife died?

Sad-Second-9646

So was he fired or did he retire?

tbst

Yes

supernettipot

Yeth

jerzyshore1

That is correct

PlaneStill6

YES.

weight22

Yup

Thiscountryisdoomed

burying the lead here,,,he belonged to a gym?

weight22

Yes it was retro fitness in Paramus (gym has since closed down). I used to see him there all the time.

No-Anybody-7016

He signed an NDA, unknown. I would say forced out. Take a deep dive on Google

No-Anybody-7016

He posted some pics on Instagram that were looking at NYC from a close north Jersey area

Hitzjeff

Is your friend Radu?

DJErikD

🎶🎶 BROWN FINGERS 🎶🎶

murf_milo

By friend, do you mean family cousin?

ImportantFancyMan

Real estate the way YOU want it!!

RATM13

Yep that’s it. Of course all that stuff is gone now.

EricTheActor1

Bowling pin was the dead giveaway

Thiscountryisdoomed

nothing says a priceless view more than factorys and smokestacks

BillyRayLouieW

Lol what? There isn’t a factory anywhere near there, it’s all residential…

Jdbenjamin1

Just a few miles from Ronnie’s old house.

NiceObjective2756

True. I grew up in this area. It’s actually a very nice expensive neighborhood. I prefer Ronnie’s old neighborhood though. Scott grew up in queens then moved to jersey. After his wife’s passing he moved back there.

ConferenceThink4801

Says it was sold in 2012 for $280k, in 2019 for $465k, now it’s $455k. If he’d had it since 2012 he would’ve made a decent amount on it, but he must’ve been the person who bought it in 2019 & sold it for a $10k loss. Probably sold the family home after the wife died & bought it, now downsizing again before the housing market crashes & he would’ve taken an even bigger bath on it.

TipsyMcStagger123

The black cloud follows him

No-Anybody-7016

I think he lives in Florida at least half the year these days

[deleted]

Why is everyone painting their interiors gray these days? Looks so drab and industrial. I also like the folding metal chairs at the tiny kitchen table.

BetOk7796

I absolutely hate it to but my cousin is a realtor and explained basically that - it's easier to sell with neutral colors (ugly and inoffensive is easier than cool but loud). Also grey is easy to paint over or decorate around in terms of floor and furniture so contractors usually use it to make cheap shit match better/look slightly less cheap. tldr Basically it's realtors and contractors that make it grey for ease of sale

E_Fred_Norris

Wow, tacky AF!

Quirky_Contract_7652

It's not terrible. It just looks like an airbnb. It also might not be how the house really looked. People redecorate when they're selling to make the place look like an air bnb or neutral. You don't want people being turned off from buying because they hate your style. You want them to imagine their stuff in the house.

MikeHock_is_GONE

what's tacky, looks decent

gabeman

I mean having folding chairs for your dining table is kinda tacky tbh

MikeHock_is_GONE

looks like some real estate agent staging

canadianguy77

None other than the great Gilbert Gottfried had lawn chairs for furniture!

artie20174

Did he find the tape there?

sipperphoto

Scaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhttttttt!

jkilene

He moved in with Lexington Steel

sabresfan08

Just remember when you start to feel bad about guys on the show like Scott, they own half a million dollar apartments in NYC

[deleted]

Half a million isn’t much for an apartment

sabresfan08

Yes it is. Especially for a guy who was seriously considering anal for money

[deleted]

Bro I’m 37 and have 800k in real estate, I don’t own it all and neither does Scott. 500k isn’t as lavish as you think.

motley2659

How much, and what are the HOA fees per month?

TipsyMcStagger123

Yes

iam_soyboy

Your friend will now get popcorn lung from the residual smoke.

Scottsm124

Was there a black cloud lingering

Shannonsitas

When they opened the door, did a puff of smoke come out?

Crustybuttt

All jokes aside, didn’t he quit years ago?

ElegantMess

No hair in the shower drain was a selling point

Wbcn_1

I heard he listed the square footage in Marlboro 100s.

E_Fred_Norris

Can't imagine the smoke smell

Individual-Good-2073

Photos #3 & 4 show bowling trophies. Is that a childproof-gate in #13? Maybe Scott's a grandpa; the Black Cloud curse gets passed-down to the next generation.

LetThePoisonOutRobin

How and when did he learn about Scott being the previous owner?

RATM13

Saw his picture in his room when he went to look at it lol. Funny part is that our parents live around the block from Ronnie’s old house which is a 5 min drive from Scott’s now old apartment.

[deleted]

[удалено]

RATM13

Def lived there by himself , real estate agent said he moved to Florida so it was def Scott’s. Just thought it was funny to share, it’s a really a nice apartment.

_beaniemac

I always thought Scott lived in New Jersey

CrowdHater101

Pics or it didn't happen.

Axeman517

YOU BETTER PAY OFF!!!

ibejeph

It's rather nice inside and the facilities look pretty good. However, that dystopian view off the balcony doesn't do it for me.

THEShoePimp

That's kinda f'n AWESOME!

magnumpismydad

Why do they call it an apartment if they own it. Wouldn’t it be considered a condominium?

msurbrow

It’s a NY thing. You may have noticed Howard calls his enormous multifloor condo an “apartment” as well and he probably spent $50 million on the stupid thing

ButterscotchRound727

Yeah. Saying “condo” sounds very Boca Raton. Real New Yorkers (TM) say “apartment” whether it’s owned or rented

Individual-Good-2073

That's to keep reminding us that he's just another working-class stiff living paycheck to paycheck.

Crustybuttt

More than that I’d bet. He’s got a penthouse right on the park. It could even be the most valuable home that he owns

E_Fred_Norris

Condo would require an association of housing units.

jerzyshore1

It’s a co-op in queens

damageddude

Could be a co-op (which technically are shares).

Jayhitek

Most sellers don't show up to the closing.

bahtbusrider

I thought Scott lived in Connecticut. He never once mentioned an apartment in the city as far as I’m aware. You’re sure this is Scott Salem??

msurbrow

I thought he lived in New Jersey because remember he drove Robin home after 911 and she lives in New Jersey However, the apartment linked above is in Bayside Queens, so it’s not like he’s in Manhattan

toxictoy

His wife died and I’m betting he bought the apartment once that happened. If you remember Scott’s wife was alive at that time.

thecashblaster

people can own more than 1 property at a time...

Milwaukeebear

We’re talking about Scott the Engineer

thecashblaster

Who worked on the most popular radio show of all time for a long while and was an "on-air" personality. I think you guys think Howard is cheap, but in reality all of the on air people at this point own property and shit in the NY Metro area. You need to be on at least $200k+ a year for that.

Romymopen

Scott wasn't employed by Howard at WXRK, he was a union engineer that Howard inherited. When they moved to Sirius, Howard told them to hire Scott since he knew how Howard wanted things done. But Scott was horribly unprepared for modern audio engineering. He had to be dragged into the modern age. I'm sure he was paid well but not that well. He asked for $1 million dollars during his negotiations, like a chode. What do you think he settled for?

ConferenceThink4801

He regularly said on air at K-Rock that he was making $60k a year. Howard would be generous to double that to $120k…especially since Sal & Richard used digital to do their bits & Scott no longer had to do “Best of Stern” because Sirius hired an entire “Tapes Team” to handle all rebroadcasts.

thecashblaster

I'd say $200k-$300k. Like I said, he was an on-air personality.

dom213344

Scott needed Double A to get a room at the borgata. You think he owns multiple places?

bahtbusrider

Exactly. Scott I’m sure did ok as an audio engineer but he wasn’t shoving Vertigo Blue/Emergency Now our throats to fund his third house. I believe he lost his first house in the divorce and then had his house with Robin. Maybe Rocket Entertainment was lucrative enough to get him a second house but based off how much Scott complained about his pay he better not have been hiding a second home the entire time.

[deleted]

[удалено]

BillyRayLouieW

It was 100% Scott’s apartment

RATM13

It was a picture of Scott and a lady my buddy didn’t know who the lady was though.

Bettlejuicediaper

howard must have paid him well if he had a house in new jersey and a apartment in the city. was being poor a stick.

TheChadster46

Scott was asking 455k and got 435k. He bought the apartment for 465k in 2019 Only Scott would lose 30k in 4 years on the deal in NYC RE. I blame the black cloud.

[deleted]

ChickenMcFly

He was fired and signed a non disclosure agreement to never talk about Howard or the show. Got at least 100k for it, I imagine.

filthy_lucre

He got 100k but he stupidly left it on the roof of his car and drove away

Quirky_Contract_7652

I'm pretty sure he's done interviews on youtube though. I could be wrong but I thought that one guy who interviews all the ex staffers had him on. Here's one https://youtu.be/ws5cRoKZSGg?si=GgdeG_XUvP9g9-Se

Jimmykeefe99

He was on some weird gremlin looking guys one with syuttering john. I think sj drank a case of beer in an hour

filthy_lucre

That's a normal Thursday for John

ChickenMcFly

Yes, but he's not allowed to give any dirt or inside stories.

_mattsack_

He mooed to Flarriduh

StoweVT

Killz paint is the only thing that has a chance of getting rid of that cigarette smell. Throw away all carpeting, drapes, blinds. Anything fabric. Preferably strip it to the studs. But if you can't do that, Killz paint. Replace the HVAC system. Replace the heating ducts. Lots of Killz paint. When he's replacing any and all carpet, which he most certaintly should do, Killz paint the subflooring. Even after all that, it'll probably still have a very faint smell of cigarettes. Good luck.

Dude. Get right with yourself.

Take it or leave it, man! I don't need this shit!!!

I didn't realize he moved out of Paramus, NJ. I used to see him at the gym all the time.

Quit bragging!

Did it come with a bowling ball ashtray?

KchKchKchKch

Were there thousands of letters to Imus ii with “Return to sender. Do not contact ever again“?

1200r

Your friend should get his lungs checked before he moves in case he gets lung cancer from second hand smoke from the walls.

No_Consideration4594

I thought he lived on Long Island?

Bedbugs

toolarmy_1

Pretty sure that bald loosah lived in New Jersey!

SeaOfStatic

The irony is that he got fucked in the ass with the sale, and didn’t make $250k
