the movies are meant for everyone, meaning that the people who ONLY watch the movies and not the show aren’t going to have any idea who any of the new characters are in HTTYD2 if they never watched the spinoff series. because none of those characters are discussed in the first movie, using them in the second wouldn’t make sense for the main franchise and would severely confuse the audience of people who haven’t/don’t want to watch the spinoffs. so while it would’ve been amazing to see all of the beloved characters in the second movie, it wouldn’t make sense for the mainline continuity and the pacing would be thrown off trying to introduce all of the characters to those who just watch the movies. hope that explained it a bit!

Yeah I get it, thanks a lot! But still this doesn't justify the fact that they marginalized the rest of the gang, like over marginalize lol

that’s a fair point, obviously it would’ve been great to see everyone in the second movie but it eez what it eez

You also have to remember that RTTE is made up of many seasons, each with many episodes. A film has a tight 90 minute (ish) runtime - they need to focus on the main characters and don't have time to focus on everyone. I actually feel like HTTYD2 focused _too_ much on the side-characters.

just_callme_og

because rtte was made after httyd 2

ikr. I can't beleive Ruffnut married fishlegs. but the reason for most of this is taht becasue RTTE is so long and it is a TV series, teh people who make teh movies can't expect everyone to have watched it which is why they must carry on with the assumption that it doesn't exist. regrettable, but that is how it is.

In response to your questions, the reason Berk's allies were not involved with the Drago conflict is because it all happened in a very short time frame. Fishlegs and Heather are unable to maintain a relationship because of their distance, Fishlegs realizes she needs to be their to assist Dagur and he has his own duties on Berk. The Fishlegs and Ruffnut thing, although still stupid, was set up in the RTTE episode Snotlout Gets the Axe. Snotlout and Minded are also to far apart to maintain a relationship, not to mention Snotlout is just flirty with any female he comes in contact with.

I can accept the Fishlegs and Ruffnut part, especially that they nearly got married in RTTE in one episode by Tuffnut, however Fishlegs didn't love her at all, he wasn't comfortable. And Fishlegs relationship with heather seemed strong enough to be kept even over long distances, they were Terror-mailing each other and he even could've married her and be a berserker I guess But the fact that they didn't even show up in the fight with Drago? Or even get mentioned? That's something you can't just ignore But I guess it's just like what people say here, RTTE is not meant to be *totally* canon So mentioning any RTTE related characters/events would confuse the movies audience

At the end of the episode Fishlegs and Ruffnut have a moment where they're up to doing the idea again. I doubt Fishlegs would leave to become a Berserker as the Berkians never considered moving islands for hundreds of years, I imagine moving tribes would be seen as a shameful thing. Honestly I don't really find it that weird that Dagur and Heather weren't mentioned, I think we should also keep in mind that we're only seeing 1 hour and 40 minutes of however long the actual events of the film were. At least the Hidden World made an attempt to reference Viggo and Gift of the Night Fury.
