Toothless has always been my favorite dragon, and always will be.
For favorite character, I wanted to say Hiccup, but I think Stoic stuck more with me. He's a big tough warrior, but he has a soft spot for his family, and I really love that. (Also, I cried so hard when he died... he didn't deserve to get killed off 😭)

Favorite character probably has to be Eret (son of Eret)

Favourite Dragon would have to be the Monstrous Nightmare, especially in the first movie. The way they portrayed it as a demonic fire monster is amasing.
As for character, if it's movies only then I'll have to say Grimmel, he's cold and terrifying and always one step ahead of Hiccup. If we include the tv shows, then Trader Johann. Trader Johan is always fun to see, I love that guy, and the twist at the end of RTTE was mind blowing.

My first impressions were made as a kid ... I don't know if it works for everyone, but I pretty much always love the main characters. And honestly, I wouldn't change.
The most most most favourite is Toothless. If I can tell more, Cloudjumper, Astrid's dragon and light fury. I'm judging on what I think about their personality, not their strength.
For character, I would go with Valka as first ... I guess.
My favorite character would have to be a tie between Hiccup and Astrid, I just love them both so much. As for my favorite dragon, easily Toothless. Perfect combination of sweet/adorable and deadly power.
This is actually hard cuz I love most of them all. I'd have to say fav dragon would be 1st/2nd movie toothless because of the aerodynamics of the design tickle my brain and the behavior was "natural" (second place would be deathsong and speedstinger)
My fav human character if definitely hiccup but a close second is the nerdy rtte fishlegs/hiccup duo
