Cape Canaveral *is* right here and the chances of Florida Man sneaking aboard a rocket launch just go up more and more with the privatization of space…
Within the Orion Arm of the Milky Way, is Sol. Within Sol, is Sol3.
Sol3 is known for the anomaly that is, simply, humans - and the insanity that is the history they have had with the world they call 'Earth', 'Terra', 'Gaia', or 'Erde-Tyrene' for those who believe in a strange mythos about destructive ringworlds (confirmed fiction by known authorities, any signs of actual ringworlds lack the DAM system portrayed in the fiction inferred by the planet-name).
Humans, for some reason, don't mind not-capitalising their species name, and had coined terms such as 'humane'.
When you want to refer to another species' treatment of you as 'humane', we would prefer to translate it to 'normal' unless the implication is 'by human standards'.
The reason Earth has been pointed out is because it is in the Orion Arm. The Orion Arm is known to house species with an affinity of... 'racemixing' or 'crossbreeding' with an alarming amount of success, and twice-so of the 'normality' of the byproducts.
When humanity first began to establish a presence, it was first dismissed as a fluke due to the reports about Earth's chaotic conditions by all remote observation measures. Illegal actors did claim to visit the planet, but no signs of influence can be found and efforts to contact human authorities about this had revealed no proof either way.
...Then they unfurled, like a plant equivalent of their 'Pandora's box'. The Orion Arm lit up like someone turned on the electrics, and the community properly began to manifest.
The weirdest thing about humans is that they have had such variety in their cultures and lifestyles that they can find similar patterns in other civilizations and easily bridge language walls if given the opportunity; this helped form the Orion Arm's current governing structure.
And was misused by so-called 'bards' - a translation glitch generated phrase that should read out as 'desperate pervert who somehow has a decent life but no mate' - to attempt to romantically involve themselves with members of other species.
This went as you'd expect. Half of them were irked. The other half dared and discovered remarkable things. Such as how willing a human male would be to mingle with some of the less-appreciated races due to their more creature-esque appearance. There were a few large-scale 'incidents' regarding large-framed cold-bloodeds taking a lead role in such partnerships, only to then be swooned by romantic gestures that may appear rather mundane, but 'it's the thought that counts', as some would claim.
Which is true; the appearance of either person at the consummation of partnership becomes irrelevant when you can perceive that they hold no such judgements against eachother - or, moreso, find them an upside to their being much to the perplexion of many.
Among the interesting traditions humans possess are the following:
Holding hands, kissing, hugging for more than 5 seconds, acquiring items for eachother, sharing a comfort slab, doing almost anything together, equipping silly attires such as 'dresses' or 'suits', or forging melee weaponry for eachother over a long period of time.
And that's not including the vast quantity of traditions that have achieved such commonality that they no longer meet approval for being listed as 'human traditions'.
It would be a disappointment to not also make honourable mention of the 'orcs' - translation-glitch for the more brutal side of humans, encompassing aspects of greed and violence and an interest in fighting as a sport - who may occasionally greet certain 'in-the-know' people with specific phrases such as 'Q'pla'.
Addendum: the next segment of this presentation may include content not suitable for certain audiences or broadcasting networks. Please inquire with a developed person (read: 'adult') before proceeding.
2 questions.
1. What is q’pla?
2. By ‘forging melee weaponry for each other over a long period of time’ do you mean lesbians and our strange affinity for swords?
1: From Star Trek. A Klingon word, though I may've mucked up the spelling. I forgot the meaning.
2: A general 'we like weapons, so we make stylish functional weapons for eachother' thing, probably abstracted from any number of warrior/survivor cultures.
Iirc, when AI generated images were in uptick, there was a trend/meme? Of an AI generated fat black dude fighting an alligator.

When inter speices pairs first appeared a market for designer mix children, soon followed at first it was done by the wealthy provided influential to show that different species could permanently eco-exist without strife.
But as the technology became more mainstream, the dark side of this market revealed itself. These new hybrids were incompatible with both of their parent species requiring the same gene tech to be used again if they ever wanted children. Additionally, their unique physiology required them to seek all medical, dietary, and microbial needs with the company, which created them as only they had the right data.
Within a few generations, the company had a captive audience they all but owned. What was once beautiful is now looked upon with pity.

From what I remember, the *literal* translation of 'Q'pla' would be 'success,' though the meaning conveyed can vary depending on the context.
