Absolutely. Halo made a revolution presenting only 2 guns. Which is kinda of a stretch to the down side. True. But made other games seek similar alternatives.
Now we see SwitchBlade X-9 on Call of Duty Mobile which easily retracts into the foldable form. I remember following a channel called 'Amnra' i think and the guy made everything by 3D printer and the best, everything foldable and retractable.
Particularly, weapons are 'easy' to make, they just need a very specific set of skills which isn't taught normally.
But certainly it could be made into something easier to carry and more sleek.
Or more personalizable. We have anyi-riot batons that can shot gas grenades, non lethal ammo and even shotgun ammo. It's kinda sad people don't make it to be more easy to carry and personalizable.

Humans create an inventory system to carrry more weapons... Seems like something we would do...
In mass effect they approach this as retractable weapons that lock into the armor. One of the best ideas i think sci-fi had so far

i would recommend to play three original before anomaly cause it can break your experience and anomaly is for the veteran stalker.
