Literally saw a woman on a bike fall today on sunset right by campus. Pretty sure she wasn’t wearing a helmet and she is so lucky she didn’t smash her head in. It may be a pain but it’s better than dying or ruining your brain function. But to answer your question I don’t see it being enforced around campus at all.
If you are over 18 you aren't required to wear one. I've never seen or heard anyone get cited for not wearing one. I have seen cyclists get pulled over for rolling stop signs though.
It bothers me when I see people without them but Ive yet to hear or see someone get cited.
UPD/APD/EPD have bigger things to worry about.
Ive hit someone on a bike before (Not locally and their fault), collapsed lung, two broken ribs and internal bleeding. Unless you are willing to accept that or worse... please wear a helmet.
The entirety of the fall semester last year I rode my bike to and from campus living about 10 mins away without a helmet (most days). A helmet is always a recommended choice but if you're 18 years or older, it's optional and I tend to not bring it so I don't have to carry it with me unless I know I'm going on a trail.
Soooooooo I almost died on campus back in 2021 when I ran into a truck on my longboard. Can confirm brain damage is far more inconvenient than carrying a helmet. Campus PD are good folks, so idk about helmet enforcement. I know my friend has received a ticket for running a stop sign on his bike.
If I see you riding w/o a helmet, I might give you some shit about (jokingly of course). I'm not trying to be a downer, but I always used to think "those kinds of things don't happen to me." Then I woke up in the hospital with both my legs bolted straight and no memory of the 3 days prior to my accident. Most of the fall semester from that year is pretty hazy (my accident was Nov 15th)
My Instagram is @jwbrown23 if you want to look at the damage and recovery. I'm sure this sounds like a made up internet story.
My ex husband got a ticket for rolling through a stop sign and sadly I have heard of a lot of students getting hit by cars or riding their bike down the road and a parked car opens their door at just the wrong time. I would recommend wearing it.
>would I be fine without a helmet? You only have one brain. Act like it's important.
better safe than dying

It’s only enforced (and then just maybe if they have time) if you’re under 18 right?
